1. അനന്തരം യഹോവ താന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരുന്നതുപോലെ സാറയെ സന്ദര്ശിച്ചു; താന് വാഗ്ദത്തം ചെയ്തിരുന്നതു യഹോവ സാറെക്കു നിവൃത്തിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.

1. And Jehovah visited Sarah as He had said. And the Lord did to Sarah as He had spoken.

2. അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ വാര്ദ്ധക്യത്തില് ദൈവം അവനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരുന്ന അവധിക്കു സാറാ ഗര്ഭം ധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

2. And Sarah conceived and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the time appointed, that which God had spoken with him.

3. സാറാ അബ്രാഹാമിന്നു പ്രസവിച്ച മകന്നു അവന് യിസ്ഹാക് എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

3. And Abraham called the name of the son who was born to him, whom Sarah had borne to him, Isaac.

4. ദൈവം അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു കല്പിച്ചിരുന്നതുപോലെ അവന് തന്റെ മകനായ യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്നു എട്ടാം ദിവസം പരിച്ഛേദന കഴിച്ചു.

4. And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac, a son of eight days, as God had commanded him.

5. തന്റെ മകനായ യിസ്ഹാക് ജനിച്ചപ്പോള് അബ്രാഹാമിന്നു നൂറു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു.

5. And Abraham was a son of a hundred years when his son Isaac was born to him.

6. ദൈവം എനിക്കു ചിരിയുണ്ടാക്കി; കേള്ക്കുന്നവരെല്ലാം എന്നെച്ചൊല്ലി ചിരിക്കും എന്നു സാറാ പറഞ്ഞു.

6. And Sarah said, God has made laughter for me; all who hear will laugh with me.

7. സാറാ മക്കള്ക്കു മുലകൊടുക്കുമെന്നു അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു ആര് പറയുമായിരുന്നു. അവന്റെ വാര്ദ്ധക്യത്തിലല്ലോ ഞാന് ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചതു എന്നും അവള് പറഞ്ഞു.

7. And she said, Who would have said to Abraham, Will Sarah suckle sons? For I have borne a son to his old age.

8. പൈതല് വളര്ന്നു മുലകുടി മാറി; യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെ മുലകുടി മാറിയ നാളില് അബ്രാഹാം ഒരു വലിയ വിരുന്നു കഴിച്ചു.

8. And the child grew and was weaned. And Abraham made a great feast on the day Isaac was weaned.

9. മിസ്രയീമ്യദാസി ഹാഗാര് അബ്രാഹാമിന്നു പ്രസവിച്ച മകന് പരിഹാസി എന്നു സാറാ കണ്ടു അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു

9. And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, he whom she had borne to Abraham, mocking.

10. ഈ ദാസിയെയുംമകനെയും പുറത്താക്കിക്കളക; ഈ ദാസിയുടെ മകന് എന്റെ മകന് യിസ്ഹാക്കിനോടു കൂടെ അവകാശിയാകരുതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. And she said to Abraham, Drive away this slave-girl and her son, for the son of this slave-girl shall not inherit with my son, with Isaac.

11. തന്റെ മകന് നിമിത്തം ഈ കാര്യം അബ്രാഹാമിന്നു അനിഷ്ടമായി.

11. And the thing was very evil in the eyes of Abraham, on account of his son.

12. എന്നാല് ദൈവം അബ്രാഹാമിനോടുബാലന്റെ നിമിത്തവും ദാസിയുടെ നിമിത്തവും നിനക്കു അനിഷ്ടം തോന്നരുതു; സാറാ നിന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞതിലൊക്കെയുംഅവളുടെ വാക്കു കേള്ക്ക; യിസ്ഹാക്കില്നിന്നുള്ളവരല്ലോ നിന്റെ സാക്ഷാല് സന്തതിയെന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടുന്നതു.

12. And God said to Abraham, Let it not be evil in your eyes because of the boy, and on account of your slave-girl. All that Sarah says to you, listen to her voice, for in Isaac your Seed shall be called.

13. ദാസിയുടെമകനെയും ഞാന് ഒരു ജാതിയാക്കും; അവന് നിന്റെ സന്തതിയല്ലോ എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

13. And also I will make a nation of the son of the slave-girl, for he is your seed.

14. അബ്രാഹാം അതികാലത്തു എഴുന്നേറ്റു അപ്പവും ഒരു തുരുത്തി വെള്ളവും എടുത്തു ഹാഗാരിന്റെ തോളില്വെച്ചു, കുട്ടിയെയും കൊടുത്തു അവളെ അയച്ചു; അവള് പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോയി ബേര്-ശേബ മരുഭൂമിയില് ഉഴന്നു നടന്നു.

14. And Abraham started up early in the morning and took bread and a skin of water and gave them to Hagar, putting them on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away. And she left and wandered in the wilderness of Beer-sheba.

15. തുരുത്തിയിലെ വെള്ളം ചെലവായശേഷം അവള് കുട്ടിയെ ഒരു കുറുങ്കാട്ടിന് തണലില് ഇട്ടു.

15. And the water from the skin was finished, and she put the boy under one of the shrubs.

16. അവള് പോയി അതിന്നെതിരെ ഒരു അമ്പിന് പാടു ദൂരത്തു ഇരുന്നുകുട്ടിയുടെ മരണം എനിക്കു കാണേണ്ടാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു എതിരെ ഇരുന്നു ഉറക്കെ കരഞ്ഞു.

16. And she went and sat down opposite him, about a bow shot away. For she said, Let me not see the death of the boy. And she sat opposite and raised her voice and wept.

17. ദൈവം ബാലന്റെ നിലവിളി കേട്ടു; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദൂതന് ആകാശത്തു നിന്നു ഹാഗാരിനെ വിളിച്ചു അവളോടുഹാഗാരേ, നിനക്കു എന്തു? നീ ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; ബാലന് ഇരിക്കുന്നേടത്തുനിന്നു അവന്റെ നിലവിളികേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

17. And God heard the voice of the young boy. And the angel of God called to Hagar out of the heavens. And He said to her, What ails you, Hagar? Do not fear, for God has heard the voice of the boy, there where he is.

18. നീ ചെന്നു ബാലനെ താങ്ങി എഴുന്നേല്പിച്ചുകൊള്ക; ഞാന് അവനെ ഒരു വലിയ ജാതിയാക്കും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

18. Rise up, lift up the boy and make your hand strong on him, for I will make of him a great nation.

19. ദൈവം അവളുടെ കണ്ണു തുറന്നു; അവള് ഒരു നീരുറവു കണ്ടു, ചെന്നു തുരുത്തിയില് വെള്ളം നിറച്ചു ബാലനെ കുടിപ്പിച്ചു.

19. And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. And she went and filled the skin with water, and gave drink to the young boy.

20. ദൈവം ബാലനോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന് മരുഭൂമിയില് പാര്ത്തു, മുതിര്ന്നപ്പോള് ഒരു വില്ലാളിയായി തീര്ന്നു.

20. And God was with the boy. And he grew up. And he lived in the wilderness and became a great archer.

21. അവന് പാരാന് മരുഭൂമിയില് പാര്ത്തു; അവന്റെ അമ്മ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു അവന്നു ഒരു ഭാര്യയെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

21. And he lived in the wilderness of Paran. And his mother took a wife for him out of the land of Egypt.

22. അക്കാലത്തു അബിമേലെക്കും അവന്റെ സേനാപതിയായ പീക്കോലും അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു സംസാരിച്ചുനിന്റെ സകലപ്രവൃത്തിയിലും ദൈവം നിന്നോടുകൂടെയുണ്ടു;

22. And it happened at that time Abimelech and Phicol, the general of his army, spoke to Abraham, saying, God is with you in all that you do.

23. ആകയാല് നീ എന്നോടോ എന്റെ സന്തതിയോടോ എന്റെ കുലത്തോടോ വ്യാജം പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാതെ ഞാന് നിന്നോടു ദയ കാണിച്ചതുപോലെ നീ എന്നോടും നീ പാര്ത്തുവരുന്ന ദേശത്തോടും ദയകാണിക്കുമെന്നു ദൈവത്തെച്ചൊല്ലി ഇവിടെവെച്ചു എന്നോടു സത്യം ചെയ്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

23. And now swear to me here by God, that you will not lie to me, and to my son, and to my heir, according to the kindness which I have sworn to you. Do to me and to the land in which you have lived.

24. സത്യം ചെയ്യാം എന്നു അബ്രാഹാം പറഞ്ഞു.

24. And Abraham said, I will swear.

25. എന്നാല് അബീമേലെക്കിന്റെ ദാസന്മാര് അപഹരിച്ച കിണര്നിമിത്തം അബ്രാഹാം അബീമേലെക്കിനോടു ഭത്സിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു.

25. And Abraham reproved Abimelech on account of a well of water which the slaves of Abimelech had seized.

26. അതിന്നു അബീമേലെക്; ഇക്കാര്യം ചെയ്തതു ആരെന്നു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നില്ല; നീ എന്നെ അറിയിച്ചിട്ടില്ല; ഇന്നല്ലാതെ ഞാന് അതിനെക്കുറിച്ചു കേട്ടിട്ടുമില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

26. And Abimelech said, I do not know who has done this thing; and also you have not told me; even I have not heard, except today.

27. പിന്നെ അബ്രാഹാം അബീമേലെക്കിന്നു ആടുമാടുകളെ കൊടുത്തു; അവര് ഇരുവരും തമ്മില് ഉടമ്പടി ചെയ്തു.

27. And Abraham took sheep and oxen and gave to Abimelech, and both of them cut a covenant.

28. അബ്രാഹാം ഏഴു പെണ്ണാട്ടുകുട്ടികളെ വേറിട്ടു നിര്ത്തി.

28. And Abraham set seven ewe lambs of the flock by themselves.

29. അപ്പോള് അബീമേലെക് അബ്രാഹാമിനോടുനീ വേറിട്ടു നിര്ത്തിയ ഈ ഏഴു പെണ്ണാട്ടുകുട്ടികള് എന്തിന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

29. And Abimelech said to Abraham, What are these seven ewe lambs which you have set by themselves?

30. ഞാന് ഈ കിണര് കുഴിച്ചു എന്നതിന്നു സാക്ഷിയായി നീ ഈ ഏഴു പെണ്ണാട്ടുകുട്ടികളെ എന്നോടു വാങ്ങേണം എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

30. And he said, You shall take the seven ewe lambs from my hand so that it may become for me a witness that I dug this well.

31. അവര് ഇരുവരും അവിടെവെച്ചു സത്യം ചെയ്ക കൊണ്ടു അവന് ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു ബേര്-ശേബ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

31. On account of this that place is called The Well of Sheba, because the two of them swore there.

32. ഇങ്ങനെ അവര് ബേര്-ശേബയില്വെച്ചു ഉടമ്പടി ചെയ്തു. അബീമേലെക്കും അവന്റെ സേനാപതിയായ പീക്കോലും എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ ദേശത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

32. And they cut a covenant in Beer-sheba. And Abimelech and Phicol, the general of his army, rose up; and they returned to the land of the Philistines.

33. അബ്രാഹാം ബേര്-ശേബയില് ഒരു പിചുലവൃക്ഷം നട്ടു, നിത്യദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തില് അവിടെവെച്ചു ആരാധന കഴിച്ചു.

33. And he planted a tamarisk tree in Beer-sheba, and there he called on the name of Jehovah the everlasting God.

34. അബ്രാഹാം കുറേക്കാലം ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ ദേശത്തു പാര്ത്തു.

34. And Abraham lived in the land of the Philistines many days.
