1. അനന്തരം യഹോവ താന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരുന്നതുപോലെ സാറയെ സന്ദര്ശിച്ചു; താന് വാഗ്ദത്തം ചെയ്തിരുന്നതു യഹോവ സാറെക്കു നിവൃത്തിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.

1. And the Lord came to Sarah as he had said and did to her as he had undertaken.

2. അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ വാര്ദ്ധക്യത്തില് ദൈവം അവനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരുന്ന അവധിക്കു സാറാ ഗര്ഭം ധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

2. And Sarah became with child, and gave Abraham a son when he was old, at the time named by God.

3. സാറാ അബ്രാഹാമിന്നു പ്രസവിച്ച മകന്നു അവന് യിസ്ഹാക് എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

3. And Abraham gave to his son, to whom Sarah had given birth, the name Isaac.

4. ദൈവം അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു കല്പിച്ചിരുന്നതുപോലെ അവന് തന്റെ മകനായ യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്നു എട്ടാം ദിവസം പരിച്ഛേദന കഴിച്ചു.

4. And when his son Isaac was eight days old, Abraham made him undergo circumcision, as God had said to him.

5. തന്റെ മകനായ യിസ്ഹാക് ജനിച്ചപ്പോള് അബ്രാഹാമിന്നു നൂറു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു.

5. Now Abraham was a hundred years old when the birth of Isaac took place.

6. ദൈവം എനിക്കു ചിരിയുണ്ടാക്കി; കേള്ക്കുന്നവരെല്ലാം എന്നെച്ചൊല്ലി ചിരിക്കും എന്നു സാറാ പറഞ്ഞു.

6. And Sarah said, God has given me cause for laughing, and everyone who has news of it will be laughing with me.

7. സാറാ മക്കള്ക്കു മുലകൊടുക്കുമെന്നു അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു ആര് പറയുമായിരുന്നു. അവന്റെ വാര്ദ്ധക്യത്തിലല്ലോ ഞാന് ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചതു എന്നും അവള് പറഞ്ഞു.

7. And she said, Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would have a child at her breast? for see, I have given him a son now when he is old.

8. പൈതല് വളര്ന്നു മുലകുടി മാറി; യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെ മുലകുടി മാറിയ നാളില് അബ്രാഹാം ഒരു വലിയ വിരുന്നു കഴിച്ചു.

8. And when the child was old enough to be taken from the breast, Abraham made a great feast.

9. മിസ്രയീമ്യദാസി ഹാഗാര് അബ്രാഹാമിന്നു പ്രസവിച്ച മകന് പരിഹാസി എന്നു സാറാ കണ്ടു അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു

9. And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian playing with Isaac.

10. ഈ ദാസിയെയുംമകനെയും പുറത്താക്കിക്കളക; ഈ ദാസിയുടെ മകന് എന്റെ മകന് യിസ്ഹാക്കിനോടു കൂടെ അവകാശിയാകരുതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. So she said to Abraham, Send away that woman and her son: for the son of that woman is not to have a part in the heritage with my son Isaac.

11. തന്റെ മകന് നിമിത്തം ഈ കാര്യം അബ്രാഹാമിന്നു അനിഷ്ടമായി.

11. And this was a great grief to Abraham because of his son.

12. എന്നാല് ദൈവം അബ്രാഹാമിനോടുബാലന്റെ നിമിത്തവും ദാസിയുടെ നിമിത്തവും നിനക്കു അനിഷ്ടം തോന്നരുതു; സാറാ നിന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞതിലൊക്കെയുംഅവളുടെ വാക്കു കേള്ക്ക; യിസ്ഹാക്കില്നിന്നുള്ളവരല്ലോ നിന്റെ സാക്ഷാല് സന്തതിയെന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടുന്നതു.

12. But God said, Let it not be a grief to you because of the boy and Hagar his mother; give ear to whatever Sarah says to you, because it is from Isaac that your seed will take its name.

13. ദാസിയുടെമകനെയും ഞാന് ഒരു ജാതിയാക്കും; അവന് നിന്റെ സന്തതിയല്ലോ എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

13. And I will make a nation of the son of your servant-woman, because he is your seed.

14. അബ്രാഹാം അതികാലത്തു എഴുന്നേറ്റു അപ്പവും ഒരു തുരുത്തി വെള്ളവും എടുത്തു ഹാഗാരിന്റെ തോളില്വെച്ചു, കുട്ടിയെയും കൊടുത്തു അവളെ അയച്ചു; അവള് പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോയി ബേര്-ശേബ മരുഭൂമിയില് ഉഴന്നു നടന്നു.

14. And early in the morning Abraham got up, and gave Hagar some bread and a water-skin, and put the boy on her back, and sent her away: and she went, wandering in the waste land of Beer-sheba.

15. തുരുത്തിയിലെ വെള്ളം ചെലവായശേഷം അവള് കുട്ടിയെ ഒരു കുറുങ്കാട്ടിന് തണലില് ഇട്ടു.

15. And when all the water in the skin was used up, she put the child down under a tree.

16. അവള് പോയി അതിന്നെതിരെ ഒരു അമ്പിന് പാടു ദൂരത്തു ഇരുന്നുകുട്ടിയുടെ മരണം എനിക്കു കാണേണ്ടാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു എതിരെ ഇരുന്നു ഉറക്കെ കരഞ്ഞു.

16. And she went some distance away, about an arrow flight, and seating herself on the earth, she gave way to bitter weeping, saying, Let me not see the death of my child.

17. ദൈവം ബാലന്റെ നിലവിളി കേട്ടു; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദൂതന് ആകാശത്തു നിന്നു ഹാഗാരിനെ വിളിച്ചു അവളോടുഹാഗാരേ, നിനക്കു എന്തു? നീ ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; ബാലന് ഇരിക്കുന്നേടത്തുനിന്നു അവന്റെ നിലവിളികേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

17. And the boy's cry came to the ears of God; and the angel of God said to Hagar from heaven, Hagar, why are you weeping? have no fear, for the child's cry has come to the ears of God.

18. നീ ചെന്നു ബാലനെ താങ്ങി എഴുന്നേല്പിച്ചുകൊള്ക; ഞാന് അവനെ ഒരു വലിയ ജാതിയാക്കും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

18. Come, take your child in your arms, for I will make of him a great nation.

19. ദൈവം അവളുടെ കണ്ണു തുറന്നു; അവള് ഒരു നീരുറവു കണ്ടു, ചെന്നു തുരുത്തിയില് വെള്ളം നിറച്ചു ബാലനെ കുടിപ്പിച്ചു.

19. Then God made her eyes open, and she saw a water-spring, and she got water in the skin and gave the boy a drink.

20. ദൈവം ബാലനോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന് മരുഭൂമിയില് പാര്ത്തു, മുതിര്ന്നപ്പോള് ഒരു വില്ലാളിയായി തീര്ന്നു.

20. And God was with the boy, and he became tall and strong, and he became a bowman, living in the waste land.

21. അവന് പാരാന് മരുഭൂമിയില് പാര്ത്തു; അവന്റെ അമ്മ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു അവന്നു ഒരു ഭാര്യയെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

21. And while he was in the waste land of Paran, his mother got him a wife from the land of Egypt.

22. അക്കാലത്തു അബിമേലെക്കും അവന്റെ സേനാപതിയായ പീക്കോലും അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു സംസാരിച്ചുനിന്റെ സകലപ്രവൃത്തിയിലും ദൈവം നിന്നോടുകൂടെയുണ്ടു;

22. Now at that time, Abimelech and Phicol, the captain of his army, said to Abraham, I see that God is with you in all you do.

23. ആകയാല് നീ എന്നോടോ എന്റെ സന്തതിയോടോ എന്റെ കുലത്തോടോ വ്യാജം പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാതെ ഞാന് നിന്നോടു ദയ കാണിച്ചതുപോലെ നീ എന്നോടും നീ പാര്ത്തുവരുന്ന ദേശത്തോടും ദയകാണിക്കുമെന്നു ദൈവത്തെച്ചൊല്ലി ഇവിടെവെച്ചു എന്നോടു സത്യം ചെയ്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

23. Now, then, give me your oath, in the name of God, that you will not be false to me or to my sons after me, but that as I have been good to you, so you will be to me and to this land where you have been living.

24. സത്യം ചെയ്യാം എന്നു അബ്രാഹാം പറഞ്ഞു.

24. And Abraham said, I will give you my oath.

25. എന്നാല് അബീമേലെക്കിന്റെ ദാസന്മാര് അപഹരിച്ച കിണര്നിമിത്തം അബ്രാഹാം അബീമേലെക്കിനോടു ഭത്സിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു.

25. But Abraham made a protest to Abimelech because of a water-hole which Abimelech's servants had taken by force.

26. അതിന്നു അബീമേലെക്; ഇക്കാര്യം ചെയ്തതു ആരെന്നു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നില്ല; നീ എന്നെ അറിയിച്ചിട്ടില്ല; ഇന്നല്ലാതെ ഞാന് അതിനെക്കുറിച്ചു കേട്ടിട്ടുമില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

26. But Abimelech said, I have no idea who has done this thing; you never gave me word of it, and I had no knowledge of it till this day.

27. പിന്നെ അബ്രാഹാം അബീമേലെക്കിന്നു ആടുമാടുകളെ കൊടുത്തു; അവര് ഇരുവരും തമ്മില് ഉടമ്പടി ചെയ്തു.

27. And Abraham took sheep and oxen and gave them to Abimelech, and the two of them made an agreement together.

28. അബ്രാഹാം ഏഴു പെണ്ണാട്ടുകുട്ടികളെ വേറിട്ടു നിര്ത്തി.

28. And Abraham put seven young lambs of the flock on one side by themselves.

29. അപ്പോള് അബീമേലെക് അബ്രാഹാമിനോടുനീ വേറിട്ടു നിര്ത്തിയ ഈ ഏഴു പെണ്ണാട്ടുകുട്ടികള് എന്തിന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

29. Then Abimelech said, What are these seven lambs which you have put on one side?

30. ഞാന് ഈ കിണര് കുഴിച്ചു എന്നതിന്നു സാക്ഷിയായി നീ ഈ ഏഴു പെണ്ണാട്ടുകുട്ടികളെ എന്നോടു വാങ്ങേണം എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു.

30. And he said, Take these seven lambs from me as a witness that I have made this water-hole.

31. അവര് ഇരുവരും അവിടെവെച്ചു സത്യം ചെയ്ക കൊണ്ടു അവന് ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു ബേര്-ശേബ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

31. So he gave that place the name Beer-sheba, because there the two of them had given their oaths.

32. ഇങ്ങനെ അവര് ബേര്-ശേബയില്വെച്ചു ഉടമ്പടി ചെയ്തു. അബീമേലെക്കും അവന്റെ സേനാപതിയായ പീക്കോലും എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ ദേശത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

32. So they made an agreement at Beer-sheba, and Abimelech and Phicol, the captain of his army, went back to the land of the Philistines.

33. അബ്രാഹാം ബേര്-ശേബയില് ഒരു പിചുലവൃക്ഷം നട്ടു, നിത്യദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തില് അവിടെവെച്ചു ആരാധന കഴിച്ചു.

33. And Abraham, after planting a holy tree in Beer-sheba, gave worship to the name of the Lord, the Eternal God.

34. അബ്രാഹാം കുറേക്കാലം ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ ദേശത്തു പാര്ത്തു.

34. And Abraham went on living in the land of the Philistines as in a strange country.
