1. എന്നാല് യോസേഫിനെ മിസ്രയീമിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയി; അവനെ അവിടെ കൊണ്ടുവന്ന യിശ്മായേല്യരുടെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു ഫറവോന്റെ ഒരു ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥനായി അകമ്പടിനായകനായ പോത്തീഫര് എന്ന ഒരു മിസ്രയീമ്യന് അവനെ വിലെക്കു വാങ്ങി.

1. Ioseph was brought vnto Egypt, and Putiphar, a Lorde of Pharaos, and his chiefe stewarde, an Egyptian, bought hym of the Ismaelites, whiche had brought hym thyther.

2. യഹോവ യോസേഫിനോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവന് കൃതാര്ത്ഥനായി, മിസ്രയീമ്യനായ യജമാനന്റെ വീട്ടില് പാര്ത്തു.

2. And God was with Ioseph, and he became a luckie man, continuyng in the house of his maister the Egyptian.

3. യഹോവ അവനോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടെന്നും അവന് ചെയ്യുന്നതൊക്കെയും യഹോവ സാധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നും അവന്റെ യജമാനന് കണ്ടു.

3. And his maister saw that God was with hym, and that God made all that he dyd to prosper in his hande.

4. അതുകൊണ്ടു യേസേഫ് അവന്നു ഇഷ്ടനായി ശുശ്രൂഷചെയ്തു; അവന് അവനെ ഗൃഹവിചാരകനാക്കി, തനിക്കുള്ളതൊക്കെയും അവന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചു.

4. And Ioseph founde grace in his maisters syght, and serued hym: And he made hym ouerseer of his house, & put all that he had in his hande.

5. അവന് തന്റെ വീട്ടിന്നും തനിക്കുള്ള സകലത്തിന്നും അവനെ വിചാരകനാക്കിയതുമുതല് യഹോവ യോസേഫിന്റെ നിമിത്തം മിസ്രയീമ്യന്റെ വീട്ടിനെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു; വീട്ടിലും വയലിലും അവന്നുള്ള സകലത്തിന്മേലും യഹോവയുടെ അനുഗ്രഹം ഉണ്ടായി.

5. And it came to passe from the tyme that he had made hym ouerseer of his house, and ouer all that he had, the Lorde blessed the Egyptians house for Iosephes sake: and the blessyng of the Lorde was vpon all that he had in the house and in the fielde.

6. അവന് തനിക്കുള്ളതൊക്കെയും യോസേഫിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചു; താന് ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്ന ഭക്ഷണം ഒഴികെ അവന്റെ വൈശം ഉള്ള മറ്റു യാതൊന്നും അവന് അറിഞ്ഞില്ല.

6. And therfore he left all that he had in Iosephes hande: and he knewe nothyng with hym, saue onlye the breade which he dyd eate. And Ioseph was a goodly person, and a well fauoured.

7. യോസേഫ് കോമളനും മനോഹരരൂപിയും ആയിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു യജമാനന്റെ ഭാര്യ യോസേഫിന്മേല് കണ്ണു പതിച്ചുഎന്നോടുകൂടെ ശയിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

7. And after this, his maisters wyfe cast her eyes vpon Ioseph, and saide: [come] lye with me.

8. അവന് അതിന്നു സമ്മതിക്കാതെ യജമാനന്റെ ഭാര്യയോടുഇതാ, വീട്ടില് എന്റെ കൈവശമുള്ള യാതൊന്നും എന്റെ യജമാനന് അറിയുന്നില്ല; തനിക്കുള്ളതൊക്കെയും എന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

8. But he refused, and sayde vnto his maisters wyfe: Beholde, my maister woteth not what he hath in the house with me, and hath committed all that he hath to my hande.

9. ഈ വീട്ടില് എന്നെക്കാള് വലിയവനില്ല; നീ അവന്റെ ഭാര്യയാകയാല് നിന്നെയല്ലാതെ മറ്റു യാതൊന്നും അവന് എനിക്കു വിരോധിച്ചിട്ടുമില്ല; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് ഈ മഹാദോഷം പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചു ദൈവത്തോടു പാപം ചെയ്യുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. There is no man greater in the house then I, neither hath he kept any thyng from me but only thee, because thou art his wyfe: how then can I do euen this so great a wickednes, & sinne against God?

10. അവള് ദിനം പ്രതിയും യോസേഫിനോടു പറഞ്ഞിട്ടും അവളോടുകൂടെ ശയിപ്പാനോ അവളുടെ അരികെ ഇരിപ്പാനോ അവന് അവളെ അനുസരിച്ചില്ല.

10. And after this maner spake she to Ioseph day by day: but he hearkened not vnto her to sleepe neare her, or to be in her company.

11. ഒരു ദിവസം അവന് തന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തി ചെയ്വാന് വീട്ടിന്നകത്തു ചെന്നു; വീട്ടിലുള്ളവര് ആരും അവിടെ ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു.

11. And on a certaine conuenient day, Ioseph entred into the house to do his businesse, and there was none of the housholde by, in the house.

12. അവള് അവന്റെ വസ്ത്രം പിടിച്ചുഎന്നോടു കൂടെ ശയിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുഎന്നാല് അവന് തന്റെ വസ്ത്രം അവളുടെ കയ്യില് വിട്ടേച്ചു പുറത്തേക്കു ഔടിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

12. Then she caught him by the garment, saying: lye with me. And he left his garment in her hande, and fledde, and got hym out.

13. അവന് വസ്ത്രം തന്റെ കയ്യില് വിട്ടേച്ചു പുറത്തേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോയി എന്നു കണ്ടപ്പോള്,

13. And when she sawe that he had lefte his garment in her hande, and was fled out:

14. അവള് വീട്ടിലുള്ളവരെ വിളിച്ചു അവരോടുകണ്ടോ, നമ്മെ ഹാസ്യമാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന് ഒരു എബ്രായനെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നിട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന് എന്നോടുകൂടെ ശയിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു; എന്നാല് ഞാന് ഉറക്കെ നിലവിളിച്ചു.

14. She called vnto the men of her house, and tolde them, saying: See, he hath brought in an Hebrue vnto vs, to do vs shame: for he came in to me to haue lyen with me, and I began to crie with a loude voyce:

15. ഞാന് ഉറക്കെ നിലവിളിച്ചതു കേട്ടപ്പോള് അവന് തന്റെ വസ്ത്രം എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വിട്ടേച്ചു ഔടി പൊയ്ക്കളഞ്ഞു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. And when he hearde that I lyft vp my voyce and cryed, he left his garment with me, & fled away, and got hym out.

16. യജമാനന് വീട്ടില് വരുവോളം അവള് ആ വസ്ത്രം തന്റെ പക്കല് വെച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

16. And she layed vp his garment by her, vntyll her Lorde came home.

17. അവനോടു അവള് അവ്വണം തന്നേ സംസാരിച്ചുനീ കൊണ്ടുവന്നിരിക്കുന്ന എബ്രായദാസന് എന്നെ ഹാസ്യമാക്കുവാന് എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു.

17. And she tolde him with these wordes, saying: This Hebrue seruaunt whiche thou hast brought vnto vs, came vnto me to do me shame.

18. ഞാന് ഉറക്കെ നിലവിളിച്ചപ്പോള് അവന് തന്റെ വസ്ത്രം എന്റെ അടുക്കല് വിട്ടേച്ചു പുറത്തേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോയി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. But assoone as I lyft vp my voyce and cryed, he left his garment with me, and fledde out.

19. നിന്റെ ദാസന് ഇങ്ങനെ എന്നോടു ചെയ്തു എന്നു തന്റെ ഭാര്യ പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കു യജമാനന് കേട്ടപ്പോള് അവന്നു കോപം ജ്വലിച്ചു.

19. When his maister hearde the wordes of his wyfe whiche she tolde hym, saying, after this maner dyd thy seruaunt to me: he waxed wroth.

20. യോസേഫിന്റെ യജമാനന് അവനെ പിടിച്ചു രാജാവിന്റെ ബദ്ധന്മാര് കിടക്കുന്ന കാരാഗൃഹത്തില് ആക്കി; അങ്ങനെ അവന് കാരാഗൃഹത്തില് കിടന്നു.

20. And Iosephes maister toke hym, and put hym in pryson, euen into the place where the kynges prysoners laye bounde: and there continued he in prison.

21. എന്നാല് യഹോവ യോസേഫിനോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നു, കാരാഗൃഹപ്രമാണിക്കു അവനോടു ദയ തോന്നത്തക്കവണ്ണം അവന്നു കൃപ നല്കി.

21. But the Lord was with Ioseph, and shewed hym mercie, and got hym fauour in the sight of the lord of the prison.

22. കാരാഗൃഹത്തിലെ സകലബദ്ധന്മാരെയും കാരാഗൃഹപ്രമാണി യോസേഫിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചു; അവരുടെ പ്രവൃത്തിക്കൊക്കെയും അവന് വിചാരകനായിരുന്നു.

22. And the keper of the prison committed to Iosephes hande all the prisoners that were in the prison house, and what so euer was done there, that dyd he.

23. യഹോവ അവനോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നു അവന് ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും സഫലമാക്കുകകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ കൈക്കീഴുള്ള യാതൊന്നും കാരാഗൃഹ പ്രമാണി നോക്കിയില്ല.

23. And the keper of the prison loked vnto nothyng that was vnder his hande, seyng that the Lord was with hym: For whatsoeuer he dyd, the Lorde made it to prosper.
