1. അപ്പോള് യോസേഫ് തന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ മുഖത്തു വീണു കരഞ്ഞു അവനെ ചുംബിച്ചു.

1. And Joseph fell upon his father's face, and wept upon him, and kissed him.

2. പിന്നെ തന്റെ അപ്പന്നു സുഗന്ധവര്ഗ്ഗം ഇടുവാന് യോസേഫ് തന്റെ ദാസന്മാരായ വൈദ്യന്മാരോടു കല്പിച്ചു; വൈദ്യന്മാര് യിസ്രായേലിനു സുഗന്ധവര്ഗ്ഗം ഇട്ടു.

2. And Joseph commanded his servants the physicians to embalm his father. And the physicians embalmed Israel.

3. അങ്ങനെ നാല്പതു ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞു; സുഗന്ധവര്ഗ്ഗം ഇടുവാന് അത്ര ദിവസം വേണ്ടി വരും. മിസ്രയീമ്യര് അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു എഴുപതു ദിവസം വിലാപം കഴിച്ചു.

3. And forty days were fulfilled for him, for so are fulfilled the days of embalming. And the Egyptians wept for him seventy days.

4. അവന്നായുള്ള വിലാപകാലം കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോള് യോസേഫ് ഫറവോന്റെ ഗൃഹക്കാരോടു സംസാരിച്ചുനിങ്ങള്ക്കു എന്നോടു ദയ ഉണ്ടെങ്കില് നിങ്ങള് ഫറവോനോടു

4. And when the days of weeping for him were past, Joseph spoke to the house of Pharaoh, saying, If now I have found favor in your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the ears of Pharaoh, saying,

5. എന്റെ അപ്പന് ഇതാ, ഞാന് മരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാന് കനാന് ദേശത്തു എനിക്കുവേണ്ടി വെട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്ന കല്ലറയില് തന്നേ നീ എന്നെ അടക്കേണമെന്നു പറഞ്ഞു എന്നെക്കൊണ്ടു സത്യം ചെയ്യിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടു. ആകയാല് ഞാന് പോയി എന്റെ അപ്പനെ അടക്കി മടങ്ങി വരുവാന് അനുവാദത്തിന്നു അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഉണര്ത്തിപ്പിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. My father made me swear, saying, Lo, I die. In my grave which I have dug for me in the land of Canaan, there shall thou bury me. Now therefore let me go up, I pray thee, and bury my father, and I will come again.

6. നിന്റെ അപ്പന് നിന്നെക്കൊണ്ടു സത്യം ചെയ്യിച്ചതു പോലെ നീ പോയി അവനെ അടക്കുക എന്നു ഫറവോന് കല്പിച്ചു.

6. And Pharaoh said, Go up, and bury thy father, according as he made thee swear.

7. അങ്ങനെ യോസേഫ് അപ്പനെ അടക്കുവാന് പൊയി; ഫറവോന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരും കോവിലധികാരികളും

7. And Joseph went up to bury his father, and with him went up all the servants of Pharaoh, the elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt,

8. മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തിലെ പ്രമാണികളും യോസേഫിന്റെ കുടുംബം ഒക്കെയും അവന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരും പിതൃഭവനവും അവനോടുകൂടെ പോയി; തങ്ങളുടെ കുഞ്ഞുകുട്ടികളെയും ആടുമാടുകളെയും മാത്രം അവര് ഗോശെന് ദേശത്തു വിട്ടേച്ചുപോയി

8. and all the house of Joseph, and his brothers, and his father's house. Only their little ones, and their flocks, and their herds, they left in the land of Goshen.

9. രഥങ്ങളും കുതിരയാളുകളും അവനോടുകൂടെ പോയി; അതു എത്രയും വലിയ കൂട്ടമായിരുന്നു.

9. And there went up with him both chariots and horsemen. And it was a very great company.

10. അവര് യോര്ദ്ദാന്നക്കരെയുള്ള ഗോരെന് -ആതാദില് എത്തിയപ്പോള് അവിടെവെച്ചു എത്രയും ഗൌരവമായ പ്രലാപം കഴിച്ചു; ഇങ്ങനെ അവന് ഏഴു ദിവസം തന്റെ അപ്പനെക്കുറിച്ചു വിലാപം കഴിച്ചു.

10. And they came to the threshing floor of Atad, which is beyond the Jordan. And there they lamented with a very great and sore lamentation. And he made a mourning for his father seven days.

11. ദേശനിവാസികളായ കനാന്യര് ഗോരെന് -ആതാദിലെ വിലാപം കണ്ടിട്ടുഇതു മിസ്രയീമ്യരുടെ മഹാവിലാപം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അതുകൊണ്ടു ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു ആബേല്-മിസ്രയീം എന്നു പേരായി; അതു യോര്ദ്ദാന്നക്കരെ ആകുന്നു.

11. And when the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning in the floor of Atad, they said, This is a grievous mourning to the Egyptians. Therefore the name of it was called Abel-mizraim, which is beyond the Jordan.

12. അവന് കല്പിച്ചിരുന്നതു പോലെ പുത്രന്മാര് അവന്നു ചെയ്തു.

12. And his sons did to him according as he commanded them.

13. അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാര് അവനെ കനാന് ദേശത്തേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയി, മമ്രേക്കു സമീപം അബ്രാഹാം ഹിത്യനായ എഫ്രോനോടു നിലത്തോടു കൂടെ ശ്മശാനഭൂമിയായി ജന്മം വാങ്ങിയ മക്പേലയെന്ന നിലത്തിലെ ഗുഹയില് അവനെ അടക്കംചെയ്തു.

13. For his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field, for a possession of a burying place, of Ephron the Hittite, before Mamre.

14. യോസേഫ് അപ്പനെ അടക്കിയശേഷം അവനും സഹോദരനും അവന്റെ അപ്പനെ അടക്കുവാന് കൂടെ പോയിരുന്ന എല്ലാവരും മിസ്രയീമിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോന്നു.

14. And Joseph returned into Egypt, he, and his brothers, and all who went up with him to bury his father, after he had buried his father.

15. അപ്പന് മരിച്ചുപോയി എന്നു യോസേഫിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാര് കണ്ടിട്ടുപക്ഷേ യോസേഫ് നമ്മെ ദ്വേഷിച്ചു, നാം അവനോടു ചെയ്ത സകലദോഷത്തിന്നും നമ്മോടു പ്രതികാരം ചെയ്യുമെന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. And when Joseph's brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, It may be that Joseph will hate us, and will fully requite us all the evil which we did to him.

16. അവര് യോസേഫിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ആളയച്ചുഅപ്പന് മരിക്കും മുമ്പെനിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാര് നിന്നോടു ദോഷം ചെയ്തു; അവര് ചെയ്ത അതിക്രമവും പാപവും നീ ക്ഷമിക്കേണം എന്നു യോസേഫിനോടു പറവിന് എന്നു കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

16. And they sent a message to Joseph, saying, Thy father commanded before he died, saying,

17. ആകയാല് അപ്പന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദാസന്മാരുടെ ദ്രോഹം ക്ഷമിക്കേണമേ എന്നു പറയിച്ചു. അവര് യോസേഫിനോടു സംസാരിക്കുമ്പോള് അവന് കരഞ്ഞു.

17. So shall ye say to Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the transgression of thy brothers, and their sin, because they did to thee evil. And now, we pray thee, forgive the transgression of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spoke to him.

18. അവന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാര് ചെന്നു അവന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ വീണുഇതാ, ഞങ്ങള് നിനക്കു അടിമകള് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. And his brothers also went and fell down before his face, and they said, Behold, we are thy servants.

19. യോസേഫ് അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; ഞാന് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സ്ഥാനത്തു ഇരിക്കുന്നുവോ?

19. And Joseph said to them, Fear not, for am I in the place of God?

20. നിങ്ങള് എന്റെ നേരെ ദോഷം വിചാരിച്ചു; ദൈവമോ, ഇന്നുള്ളതുപോലെ ബഹുജനത്തിന്നു ജീവരക്ഷ വരുത്തേണ്ടതിന്നു അതിനെ ഗുണമാക്കിത്തീര്ത്തു.

20. And as for you, ye meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.

21. ആകയാല് നിങ്ങള് ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; ഞാന് നിങ്ങളെയും നിങ്ങളുടെ കുഞ്ഞുകുട്ടികളെയും പോറ്റി രക്ഷിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവരെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിച്ചു ധൈര്യപ്പെടുത്തി.

21. Now therefore fear ye not. I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spoke kindly to them.

22. യോസേഫും അവന്റെ പിതൃഭവനവും മിസ്രയീമില് പാര്ത്തു, യോസേഫ് നൂറ്റിപ്പത്തു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു.

22. And Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he, and his father's house. And Joseph lived a hundred and ten years.

23. എഫ്രയീമിന്റെ മൂന്നാം തലമുറയിലെ മക്കളെയും കണ്ടു; മനശ്ശെയുടെ മകനായ മാഖീരിന്റെ മക്കളും യോസേഫിന്റെ മടിയില് വളര്ന്നു.

23. And Joseph saw Ephraim's sons of the third generation. Also the sons of Machir the son of Manasseh were born upon Joseph's knees.

24. അനന്തരം യോസേഫ് തന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരോടുഞാന് മരിക്കുന്നു;എന്നാല് ദൈവം നിങ്ങളെ സന്ദര്ശിക്കയും ഈ ദേശത്തുനിന്നു താന് അബ്രാഹാമിനോടും യിസ്ഹാക്കിനോടും യാക്കോബിനോടും സത്യംചെയ്ത ദേശത്തേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോകയും ചെയ്യും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

24. And Joseph said to his brothers, I die, but God will surely visit you, and bring you up out of this land to the land which he swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

25. ദൈവം നിങ്ങളെ സന്ദര്ശിക്കുമ്പോള് നിങ്ങള് എന്റെ അസ്ഥികളെ ഇവിടെനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുപോകേണമെന്നു പറഞ്ഞു യോസേഫ് യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളെക്കൊണ്ടു സത്യം ചെയ്യിച്ചു.

25. And Joseph took an oath of the sons of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from here.

26. യോസേഫ് നൂറ്റിപ്പത്തു വയസ്സുള്ളവനായി മരിച്ചു. അവര് അവന്നു സുഗന്ധവര്ഗ്ഗം ഇട്ടു അവനെ മിസ്രയീമില് ഒരു ശവപ്പെട്ടിയില് വെച്ചു.

26. So Joseph died, being a hundred and ten years old, and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.
