1. ദാവീദ് മലമുകള് കടന്നു കുറെ അപ്പുറം ചെന്നപ്പോള് മെഫീബോശെത്തിന്റെ ഭൃത്യനായ സീബാ കോപ്പിട്ട രണ്ടുകഴുതയുമായി എതിരെ വരുന്നതു കണ്ടു; അവയുടെ പുറത്തു ഇരുനൂറു അപ്പവും നൂറു ഉണക്കമുന്തിരിക്കുലയും നൂറു അത്തിയടയും ഒരു തുരുത്തി വീഞ്ഞും കയറ്റിയിരുന്നു. രാജാവു സീബയോടുഇതു എന്തിന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു സീബാകഴുതകള് രാജാവിന്റെ കുടുംബക്കാര്ക്കും കയറുവാനും അപ്പവും പഴവും ബാല്യക്കാര്ക്കും തിന്മാനും വീഞ്ഞു മരുഭൂമിയില് ക്ഷീണിച്ചവര്ക്കും കുടിപ്പാനും തന്നേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

1. Now, David, had passed on but a little from the summit, when lo! Ziba, servant of Mephibosheth, met him, with a couple of asses saddled, and, upon them, two hundred cakes of bread, and one hundred cakes of raisins, and one hundred summer fruits, and a skin of wine.

2. നിന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ മകന് എവിടെ എന്നു രാജാവു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു സീബാ രാജാവിനോടുഅവന് യെരൂശലേമില് പാര്ക്കുംന്നു; യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹം എന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ രാജത്വം ഇന്നു എനിക്കു തിരികെ തരുമെന്നു അവന് പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

2. And the king said unto Ziba, What meanest thou, by these? And Ziba said The asses, are for the king's household, to ride on, and, the bread and the summer fruits, are for the young men to eat, and, the wine, is for drink to such as are faint in the wilderness.

3. രാജാവു സീബയോടുഇതാ, മെഫീബോശെത്തിന്നുള്ളതൊക്കെയും നിനക്കുള്ളതാകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു സീബായജമാനനായ രാജാവേ, ഞാന് നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നു; തിരുമുമ്പില് എനിക്കു ദയ ലഭിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

3. Then said the king, And where is thy lord's son? And Ziba said unto the king Lo! abiding in Jerusalem, for he said, To-day, will the house of Israel, restore unto me, the kingdom of my father.

4. ദാവീദ് രാജാവു ബഹൂരീമില് എത്തിയപ്പോള് ശൌലിന്റെ കുലത്തില് ഗേരയുടെ മകന് ശീമെയി എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരുത്തന് അവിടെനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു ശപിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു വരുന്നതു കണ്ടു.

4. Then said the king unto Ziba, Lo! thine, is all that pertained to Mephibosheth. And Ziba said I have done homage, that I might find favour in thine eyes, my lord O king.

5. അവന് ദാവീദിനെയും രാജഭൃത്യന്മാരെ ഒക്കെയും കല്ലുവാരി എറിഞ്ഞു; ജനവും വീരന്മാരുമെല്ലാം ഇടത്തും വലത്തുമായി നടക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.

5. And, when King David had come as far as Bahurim, lo! from thence a man coming out, of the family of the house of Saul, whose name, was Shimei son of Gera, coming out and cursing as he came.

6. ശിമെയി ശപിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു ഇവ്വണം പറഞ്ഞുരക്തപാതകാ, നീചാ, പോ, പോ.

6. And he pelted, with stones, David and all the servants of King David, all the people, and all the mighty men, being on his right hand and on his left.

7. ശൌല് ഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ രക്തം യഹോവ നിന്റെമേല് വരുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്നു പകരമല്ലോ നീ രാജാവയതു; യഹോവ രാജത്വം നിന്റെ മകനായ അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നീ രക്തപാതകനായിരിക്കയാല് ഇപ്പോള് ഇതാ, നിന്റെ ദോഷത്തിന്റെ ഫലം നിനക്കു വന്നുഭവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

7. And, thus, said Shimei, when he cursed, Out! Out! thou man of bloodshed, and man of the Abandoned One!

8. അപ്പോള് സെരൂയയുടെ മകനായ അബീശായി രാജാവിനോടുഈ ചത്ത നായി എന്റെ യജമാനനായ രാജാവിനെ ശപിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു? ഞാന് ചെന്നു അവന്റെ തല വെട്ടിക്കളയട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

8. Yahweh, hath brought back upon thee, all the shed-blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead thou hast reigned, and Yahweh hath delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absolom thy son, and, here thou art, in thy ruin, for that, a man of bloodshed, thou art.

9. അതിന്നു രാജാവുസെരൂയയുടെ പുത്രന്മാരേ, എനിക്കും നിങ്ങള്ക്കും തമ്മില് എന്തു? അവന് ശപിക്കട്ടെ; ദാവീദിനെ ശപിക്ക എന്നു യഹോവ അവനോടു കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; പിന്നെ നീ ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ആര് ചോദിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. Then said Abishai, son of Zeruiah, unto the king Wherefore should this dead dog curse my lord the king? I pray thee, let me cross over and take off his head.

10. പിന്നെ ദാവീദ് അബീശായിയോടും തന്റെ സകല ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടും പറഞ്ഞതുഎന്റെ ഉദരത്തില് നിന്നു പറപ്പെട്ട മകന് എനിക്കു പ്രാണഹാനി വരുത്തുവാന് നോക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് ഈ ബെന്യാമീന്യന് ചെയ്യുന്നതു ആശ്ചര്യമോ? അവനെ വിടുവിന് ; അവന് ശപിക്കട്ടെ; യഹോവ അവനോടു കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

10. But the king said, What have I in common with you, ye sons of Zeruiah? thus, he curseth, because, Yahweh, hath said unto him Curse David. Who then can say, Why hast thou done thus?

11. പക്ഷേ യഹോവ എന്റെ സങ്കടം നോക്കി ഇന്നത്തെ ഇവന്റെ ശാപത്തിന്നു പകരം എനിക്കു അനുഗ്രഹം നലകും.

11. Then said David unto Abishai, and unto all his servants, Lo! my own son who sprang from my body, is seeking my life, then how much more, now, a Benjamite? Let him alone, and let him curse, for, Yahweh, hath permitted him.

12. ഇങ്ങനെ ദാവീദും അവന്റെ ആളുകളും വഴിനടന്നു പോകുമ്പോള് ശിമെയിയും മലഞ്ചരിവില് കൂടി അടുത്തു നടന്നു; നടന്നുകൊണ്ടു ശപിക്കയും കല്ലും പൂഴിയും വാരി അവനെ എറികയും ചെയ്തു.

12. It may be, that Yahweh will behold with his eye, and that Yahweh will return me good, for his cursing this day.

13. രാജാവും കൂടെയുള്ള സകല ജനവും ക്ഷീണിച്ചവരായി എത്തി അവിടെ ആശ്വസിച്ചു.

13. And, when David and his men went along in the way, Shimei, was going along on the side of the hill over against him, cursing as he went, pelting him with stones, and throwing dust.

14. എന്നാല് അബ്ശാലോമും യിസ്രായേല്യരായ ജനമൊക്കെയും അഹീഥോഫെലുമായി യെരൂശലേമില് എത്തി.

14. And the king and all the people that were with him arrived, weary, and they refreshed themselves there.

15. ദാവീദിന്റെ സ്നേഹിതന് അര്ഖ്യനായ ഹൂശായി അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നിട്ടു അബ്ശാലോമിനോടുരാജാവേ, ജയ ജയ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. And, Absolom and all the men of Israel, entered Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.

16. അപ്പോള് അബ്ശാലോം ഹൂശായിയോടുഇതാകുന്നുവോ നിന്റെ സ്നേഹിതനോടു നിനക്കുള്ള സ്നേഹം? സ്നേഹിതനോടുകൂടെ പോകാതിരുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

16. And it came to pass, when Hushai the Archite, the friend of David, came in unto Absolom, that Hushai said unto Absolom: Long live the king! Long live the king!

17. അതിന്നു ഹൂശായി അബ്ശാലോമിനോടുഅങ്ങനെയല്ല, യഹോവയും ഈ ജനവും യിസ്രായേല്യരൊക്കെയും ആരെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്നുവോ അവന്നുള്ളവന് ആകന്നു ഞാന് ; അവന്റെ പക്ഷത്തില് ഞാന് ഇരിക്കും.

17. Then said Absolom unto Hushai, Is, this, thy lovingkindness unto thy friend? Wherefore wentest thou not with thy friend?

18. ഞാന് ആരെ ആകുന്നു സേവിക്കേണ്ടതു? അവന്റെ മകനെ അല്ലയോ? ഞാന് നിന്റെ അപ്പനെ സേവിച്ചതുപോലെ നിന്നെയും സേവിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. And Hushai said unto Absolom, Nay! but, whom Yahweh, and all this people, and the men of Israel have chosen, his, will I be, and, with him, will I dwell.

19. അനന്തരം അബ്ശാലോം അഹിഥോഫെലിനോടുനാം ചെയ്യേണ്ടതു എന്തു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് ആലോചിച്ചു പറവിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19. And, again, whom, should, I serve? Should it not be in presence of his son? as I served in presence of thy father, so, will I continue thy presence.

20. അഹീഥോഫെല് അബ്ശാലോമിനോടുരാജധാനി സൂക്ഷിപ്പാന് നിന്റെ അപ്പന് പാര്പ്പിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള അവന്റെ വെപ്പാട്ടികളുടെ അടുക്കല് നീ ചെല്ലുക; എന്നാല് നീ നിന്റെ അപ്പന്നു നിന്നെത്തന്നെ വെറുപ്പാക്കി എന്നു എല്ലായിസ്രായേലും കേള്ക്കും; നിന്നോടുകൂടെയുള്ളവര് ഒക്കെയും ധൈര്യപ്പെടും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

20. Then said Absolom unto Ahithophel, Give ye your counsel, what we shall do.

21. അങ്ങനെ അവര് അബ്ശാലോമിന്നു വെണ്മാടിത്തിന്മേല് ഒരു കൂടാരം അടിച്ചു; അവിടെ അബ്ശാലോം എല്ലായിസ്രായേലും കാണ്കെ തന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ വെപ്പാട്ടികളുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു.

21. And Ahithophel said unto Absolom, Go in unto thy father's concubines, whom he hath left to keep the house, so shall all Israel hear that thou hast made thyself odious unto thy father, and the hands of all that are with thee, shall be strengthened.

22. അക്കാലത്തു അഹീഥോഫെല് പറയുന്ന ആലോചന ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടുപോലെ ആയിരുന്നു; ദാവീദിന്നും അബ്ശാലോമിന്നും അഹീഥോഫെലിന്റെ ആലോചനയെല്ലാം അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ ആയിരുന്നു.

22. And they stretched out for Absolom a tent, upon the house-top, and Absolom went in unto his father's concubines, in the sight of all Israel.
