1. ദാവീദ് മലമുകള് കടന്നു കുറെ അപ്പുറം ചെന്നപ്പോള് മെഫീബോശെത്തിന്റെ ഭൃത്യനായ സീബാ കോപ്പിട്ട രണ്ടുകഴുതയുമായി എതിരെ വരുന്നതു കണ്ടു; അവയുടെ പുറത്തു ഇരുനൂറു അപ്പവും നൂറു ഉണക്കമുന്തിരിക്കുലയും നൂറു അത്തിയടയും ഒരു തുരുത്തി വീഞ്ഞും കയറ്റിയിരുന്നു. രാജാവു സീബയോടുഇതു എന്തിന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു സീബാകഴുതകള് രാജാവിന്റെ കുടുംബക്കാര്ക്കും കയറുവാനും അപ്പവും പഴവും ബാല്യക്കാര്ക്കും തിന്മാനും വീഞ്ഞു മരുഭൂമിയില് ക്ഷീണിച്ചവര്ക്കും കുടിപ്പാനും തന്നേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

1. And when David had gone a little way past the top of the slope, Ziba, the servant of Mephibosheth, came to him, with two asses on which were two hundred cakes of bread and a hundred stems of dry grapes and a hundred summer fruits and a skin of wine.

2. നിന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ മകന് എവിടെ എന്നു രാജാവു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു സീബാ രാജാവിനോടുഅവന് യെരൂശലേമില് പാര്ക്കുംന്നു; യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹം എന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ രാജത്വം ഇന്നു എനിക്കു തിരികെ തരുമെന്നു അവന് പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

2. And David said to Ziba, What is your reason for this? And Ziba said, The asses are for the use of the king's people, and the bread and the fruit are food for the young men; and the wine is for drink for those who are overcome by weariness in the waste land.

3. രാജാവു സീബയോടുഇതാ, മെഫീബോശെത്തിന്നുള്ളതൊക്കെയും നിനക്കുള്ളതാകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു സീബായജമാനനായ രാജാവേ, ഞാന് നമസ്കരിക്കുന്നു; തിരുമുമ്പില് എനിക്കു ദയ ലഭിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

3. And the king said, And where is your master's son? And Ziba said, He is still at Jerusalem: for he said, Today Israel will give back to me the kingdom of my father.

4. ദാവീദ് രാജാവു ബഹൂരീമില് എത്തിയപ്പോള് ശൌലിന്റെ കുലത്തില് ഗേരയുടെ മകന് ശീമെയി എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരുത്തന് അവിടെനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു ശപിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു വരുന്നതു കണ്ടു.

4. Then the king said to Ziba, Truly everything which was Mephibosheth's is yours. And Ziba said, I give honour to my lord, may I have grace in your eyes, my lord, O king!

5. അവന് ദാവീദിനെയും രാജഭൃത്യന്മാരെ ഒക്കെയും കല്ലുവാരി എറിഞ്ഞു; ജനവും വീരന്മാരുമെല്ലാം ഇടത്തും വലത്തുമായി നടക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.

5. And when King David came to Bahurim, a man of Saul's family named Shimei, the son of Gera, came out from there, calling curses after him.

6. ശിമെയി ശപിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു ഇവ്വണം പറഞ്ഞുരക്തപാതകാ, നീചാ, പോ, പോ.

6. And he sent stones at David and at all the king's servants and at all the people and at all the men of war by his side, on the right hand and on the left.

7. ശൌല് ഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ രക്തം യഹോവ നിന്റെമേല് വരുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്നു പകരമല്ലോ നീ രാജാവയതു; യഹോവ രാജത്വം നിന്റെ മകനായ അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നീ രക്തപാതകനായിരിക്കയാല് ഇപ്പോള് ഇതാ, നിന്റെ ദോഷത്തിന്റെ ഫലം നിനക്കു വന്നുഭവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

7. And Shimei said, with curses, Be gone, be gone, you man of blood, you good-for-nothing:

8. അപ്പോള് സെരൂയയുടെ മകനായ അബീശായി രാജാവിനോടുഈ ചത്ത നായി എന്റെ യജമാനനായ രാജാവിനെ ശപിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു? ഞാന് ചെന്നു അവന്റെ തല വെട്ടിക്കളയട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

8. The Lord has sent punishment on you for all the blood of the family of Saul, whose kingdom you have taken; and the Lord has given the kingdom to Absalom, your son: now you yourself are taken in your evil, because you are a man of blood.

9. അതിന്നു രാജാവുസെരൂയയുടെ പുത്രന്മാരേ, എനിക്കും നിങ്ങള്ക്കും തമ്മില് എന്തു? അവന് ശപിക്കട്ടെ; ദാവീദിനെ ശപിക്ക എന്നു യഹോവ അവനോടു കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; പിന്നെ നീ ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ആര് ചോദിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

9. Then Abishai, the son of Zeruiah, said to the king, Is this dead dog to go on cursing my lord the king? let me go over and take off his head.

10. പിന്നെ ദാവീദ് അബീശായിയോടും തന്റെ സകല ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടും പറഞ്ഞതുഎന്റെ ഉദരത്തില് നിന്നു പറപ്പെട്ട മകന് എനിക്കു പ്രാണഹാനി വരുത്തുവാന് നോക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് ഈ ബെന്യാമീന്യന് ചെയ്യുന്നതു ആശ്ചര്യമോ? അവനെ വിടുവിന് ; അവന് ശപിക്കട്ടെ; യഹോവ അവനോടു കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

10. And the king said, What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah? Let him go on cursing, for the Lord has said, Put a curse on David, and who then may say, Why have you done so?

11. പക്ഷേ യഹോവ എന്റെ സങ്കടം നോക്കി ഇന്നത്തെ ഇവന്റെ ശാപത്തിന്നു പകരം എനിക്കു അനുഗ്രഹം നലകും.

11. And David said to Abishai and to all his servants, You see how my son, the offspring of my body, has made designs against my life: how much more then may this Benjamite do so? Let him be, and let him go on cursing; for the Lord has given him orders.

12. ഇങ്ങനെ ദാവീദും അവന്റെ ആളുകളും വഴിനടന്നു പോകുമ്പോള് ശിമെയിയും മലഞ്ചരിവില് കൂടി അടുത്തു നടന്നു; നടന്നുകൊണ്ടു ശപിക്കയും കല്ലും പൂഴിയും വാരി അവനെ എറികയും ചെയ്തു.

12. It may be that the Lord will take note of my wrongs, and give me back good in answer to his cursing of me today.

13. രാജാവും കൂടെയുള്ള സകല ജനവും ക്ഷീണിച്ചവരായി എത്തി അവിടെ ആശ്വസിച്ചു.

13. So David and his men went on their way: and Shimei went by the hillside parallel with them, cursing and sending stones and dust at him.

14. എന്നാല് അബ്ശാലോമും യിസ്രായേല്യരായ ജനമൊക്കെയും അഹീഥോഫെലുമായി യെരൂശലേമില് എത്തി.

14. And the king and his people came tired to Jordan, and took their rest there.

15. ദാവീദിന്റെ സ്നേഹിതന് അര്ഖ്യനായ ഹൂശായി അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നിട്ടു അബ്ശാലോമിനോടുരാജാവേ, ജയ ജയ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. And Absalom and the men of Israel came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel was with him.

16. അപ്പോള് അബ്ശാലോം ഹൂശായിയോടുഇതാകുന്നുവോ നിന്റെ സ്നേഹിതനോടു നിനക്കുള്ള സ്നേഹം? സ്നേഹിതനോടുകൂടെ പോകാതിരുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

16. Then Hushai the Archite, David's friend, came to Absalom and said, Long life to the king, long life to the king!

17. അതിന്നു ഹൂശായി അബ്ശാലോമിനോടുഅങ്ങനെയല്ല, യഹോവയും ഈ ജനവും യിസ്രായേല്യരൊക്കെയും ആരെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്നുവോ അവന്നുള്ളവന് ആകന്നു ഞാന് ; അവന്റെ പക്ഷത്തില് ഞാന് ഇരിക്കും.

17. And Absalom said, Is this your love for your friend? why did you not go with your friend?

18. ഞാന് ആരെ ആകുന്നു സേവിക്കേണ്ടതു? അവന്റെ മകനെ അല്ലയോ? ഞാന് നിന്റെ അപ്പനെ സേവിച്ചതുപോലെ നിന്നെയും സേവിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. And Hushai said to Absalom, Not so; I am for that man whom the Lord and this people and all the men of Israel have taken as king, and I will take my place with him.

19. അനന്തരം അബ്ശാലോം അഹിഥോഫെലിനോടുനാം ചെയ്യേണ്ടതു എന്തു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് ആലോചിച്ചു പറവിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19. And more than this! where is my place as a servant? is it not before his son? as I have been your father's servant, so will I be yours.

20. അഹീഥോഫെല് അബ്ശാലോമിനോടുരാജധാനി സൂക്ഷിപ്പാന് നിന്റെ അപ്പന് പാര്പ്പിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള അവന്റെ വെപ്പാട്ടികളുടെ അടുക്കല് നീ ചെല്ലുക; എന്നാല് നീ നിന്റെ അപ്പന്നു നിന്നെത്തന്നെ വെറുപ്പാക്കി എന്നു എല്ലായിസ്രായേലും കേള്ക്കും; നിന്നോടുകൂടെയുള്ളവര് ഒക്കെയും ധൈര്യപ്പെടും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

20. Then Absalom said to Ahithophel, Give your opinion now, what are we to do?

21. അങ്ങനെ അവര് അബ്ശാലോമിന്നു വെണ്മാടിത്തിന്മേല് ഒരു കൂടാരം അടിച്ചു; അവിടെ അബ്ശാലോം എല്ലായിസ്രായേലും കാണ്കെ തന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ വെപ്പാട്ടികളുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു.

21. And Ahithophel said to Absalom, Go in to your father's women who are here looking after his house; then all Israel will have the news that you are hated by your father, and the hands of your supporters will be strong.

22. അക്കാലത്തു അഹീഥോഫെല് പറയുന്ന ആലോചന ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടുപോലെ ആയിരുന്നു; ദാവീദിന്നും അബ്ശാലോമിന്നും അഹീഥോഫെലിന്റെ ആലോചനയെല്ലാം അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ ആയിരുന്നു.

22. So they put up the tent for Absalom on the top of the house, and Absalom went in to his father's women before the eyes of all Israel.
