1. ശലോമോന് രാജാവു ഫറവോന്റെ മകളെ കൂടാതെ മോവാബ്യര്, അമ്മോന്യര്, എദോമ്യര്, സീദോന്യര്, ഹിത്യര് എന്നിങ്ങനെ അന്യാജാതിക്കാരത്തികളായ അനേക സ്ത്രീകളെയും സ്നേഹിച്ചു.

1. But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites:

2. നിങ്ങള്ക്കു അവരോടു കൂടിക്കലര്ച്ച അരുതു; അവര്ക്കും നിങ്ങളോടും കൂടിക്കലര്ച്ച അരുതു; അവര് നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയത്തെ തങ്ങളുടെ ദേവന്മാരിലേക്കു വശീകരിച്ചുകളയും എന്നു യഹോവ യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത അന്യജാതികളില്നിന്നുള്ളവരെ തന്നേ; അവരോടു ശലോമോന് സ്നേഹത്താല് പറ്റിച്ചേര്ന്നിരുന്നു.

2. Of the nations concerning which the LORD said to the children of Israel, You shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in to you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon joined to these in love.

3. അവന്നു എഴുനൂറു കുലീനപത്നികളും മുന്നൂറു വെപ്പാട്ടികളും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന്റെ ഭാര്യമാര് അവന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തെ വശീകരിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

3. And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.

4. എങ്ങനെയെന്നാല്ശലോമോന് വയോധികനായപ്പോള് ഭാര്യമാര് അവന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തെ അന്യദേവന്മാരിലേക്കു വശീകരിച്ചു; അവന്റെ ഹൃദയം അവന്റെ അപ്പനായ ദാവീദിന്റെ ഹൃദയംപോലെ തന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയിങ്കല് ഏകാഗ്രമായിരുന്നില്ല.

4. For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.

5. ശലോമോന് സീദോന്യദേവിയായ അസ്തോരെത്തിനെയും അമ്മോന്യരുടെ മ്ളേച്ഛവിഗ്രഹമായ മില്ക്കോമിനെയും ചെന്നു സേവിച്ചു

5. For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

6. തന്റെ അപ്പനായ ദാവീദിനെപ്പോലെ യഹോവയെ പൂര്ണ്ണമായി അനുസരിക്കാതെ ശലോമോന് യഹോവേക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു.

6. And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father.

7. അന്നു ശലോമോന് യെരൂശലേമിന്നു എതിരെയുള്ള മലയില് മോവാബ്യരുടെ മ്ളേച്ഛവിഗ്രഹമായ കെമോശിന്നും അമ്മോന്യരുടെ മ്ളേച്ഛവിഗ്രഹമായ മോലേക്കിന്നും ഔരോ പൂജാഗിരി പണിതു.

7. Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon.

8. തങ്ങളുടെ ദേവന്മാര്ക്കും ധൂപം കാട്ടിയും ബലികഴിച്ചുംപോന്ന അന്യജാതിക്കാരത്തികളായ സകലഭാര്യമാര്ക്കും വേണ്ടി അവന് അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തു.

8. And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed to their gods.

9. തനിക്കു രണ്ടുപ്രാവശ്യം പ്രത്യക്ഷനാകയും അന്യദേവന്മാരെ ചെന്നു സേവിക്കരുതെന്ന കാര്യത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു തന്നോടു കല്പിക്കയും ചെയ്തിരുന്ന യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ വിട്ടു ശലോമോന് തന്റെ ഹൃദയം തിരിക്കയും

9. And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the LORD God of Israel, which had appeared to him twice,

10. യഹോവ കല്പിച്ചതു പ്രമാണിക്കാതെ ഇരിക്കയും ചെയ്കകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ അവനോടു കോപിച്ചു.

10. And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the LORD commanded.

11. യഹോവ ശലോമോനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു എന്തെന്നാല്എന്റെ നിയമവും ഞാന് നിന്നോടു കല്പിച്ച കല്പനകളും നീ പ്രമാണിച്ചില്ല എന്നുള്ള സംഗതി നിന്റെ പേരില് ഇരിക്കകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് രാജത്വം നിങ്കല് നിന്നു നിശ്ചയമായി പറിച്ചു നിന്റെ ദാസന്നു കൊടുക്കും.

11. Why the LORD said to Solomon, For as much as this is done of you, and you have not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded you, I will surely rend the kingdom from you, and will give it to your servant.

12. എങ്കിലും നിന്റെ അപ്പനായ ദാവീദിന് നിമിത്തം ഞാന് നിന്റെ ജീവകാലത്തു അതു ചെയ്കയില്ല; എന്നാല് നിന്റെ മകന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു അതിനെ പറിച്ചുകളയും.

12. Notwithstanding in your days I will not do it for David your father's sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of your son.

13. എങ്കിലും രാജത്വം മുഴുവനും പറിച്ചുകളയാതെ എന്റെ ദാസനായ ദാവീദിന് നിമിത്തവും ഞാന് തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത യെരൂശലേമിന് നിമിത്തവും ഒരു ഗോത്രത്തെ ഞാന് നിന്റെ മകന്നു കൊടുക്കും.

13. However, I will not rend away all the kingdom; but will give one tribe to your son for David my servant's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake which I have chosen.

14. യഹോവ എദോമ്യനായ ഹദദ് എന്ന ഒരു പ്രതിയോഗിയെ ശലോമോന്റെ നേരെ എഴുന്നേല്പിച്ചു. അവന് എദോം രാജസന്തതിയില് ഉള്ളവന് ആയിരുന്നു.

14. And the LORD stirred up an adversary to Solomon, Hadad the Edomite: he was of the king's seed in Edom.

15. ദാവീദ് എദോമ്യരെ നിഗ്രഹിച്ചകാലത്തു സേനാധിപതിയായ യോവാബ് പട്ടുപോയവരെ അടക്കംചെയ്വാന് ചെന്നു എദോമിലെ പുരുഷപ്രജയെ ഒക്കെയും നിഗ്രഹിച്ചപ്പോള്--

15. For it came to pass, when David was in Edom, and Joab the captain of the host was gone up to bury the slain, after he had smitten every male in Edom;

16. എദോമിലെ പുരുഷപ്രജയെ ഒക്കെയും നിഗ്രഹിക്കുവോളം യോവാബും എല്ലായിസ്രായേലും അവിടെ ആറുമാസം പാര്ത്തിരുന്നു--

16. (For six months did Joab remain there with all Israel, until he had cut off every male in Edom:)

17. ഹദദ് എന്നവന് തന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരില് ചില എദോമ്യരുമായി മിസ്രയീമിലേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോയി; ഹദദ് അന്നു പൈതല് ആയിരുന്നു.

17. That Hadad fled, he and certain Edomites of his father's servants with him, to go into Egypt; Hadad being yet a little child.

18. അവര് മിദ്യാനില് നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു പാറാനില് എത്തി; പാറാനില്നിന്നു ആളുകളെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു മിസ്രയീമില് മിസ്രയീംരാജാവായ ഫറവോന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു; അവന് അവന്നു ഒരു വീടു കൊടുത്തു ആഹാരം കല്പിച്ചു ഒരു ദേശവും കൊടുത്തു.

18. And they arose out of Midian, and came to Paran: and they took men with them out of Paran, and they came to Egypt, to Pharaoh king of Egypt; which gave him an house, and appointed him victuals, and gave him land.

19. ഫറവോന്നു ഹദദിനോടു വളരെ ഇഷ്ടം തോന്നി; അതുകൊണ്ടു അവന് തന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ തഹ്പെനേസ്രാജ്ഞിയുടെ സഹോദരിയെ അവന്നു ഭാര്യയായി കൊടുത്തു.

19. And Hadad found great favor in the sight of Pharaoh, so that he gave him to wife the sister of his own wife, the sister of Tahpenes the queen.

20. തഹ്പെനേസിന്റെ സഹോദരി അവന്നു ഗെനൂബത്ത് എന്നൊരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു; അവനെ തഹ്പെനേസ് മുലകുടി മാറ്റി ഫറവോന്റെ അരമനയില് വളര്ത്തി; അങ്ങനെ ഗെനൂബത്ത് ഫറവോന്റെ അരമനയില് ഫറവോന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരോടുകൂടെ ആയിരുന്നു.

20. And the sister of Tahpenes bore him Genubath his son, whom Tahpenes weaned in Pharaoh's house: and Genubath was in Pharaoh's household among the sons of Pharaoh.

21. ദാവീദ് തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു എന്നും സേനാധിപതിയായ യോവാബും മരിച്ചു എന്നും ഹദദ് മിസ്രയീമില് കേട്ടിട്ടു ഫറവോനോടുഞാന് എന്റെ ദേശത്തേക്കു യാത്രയാകേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്നെ അയക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

21. And when Hadad heard in Egypt that David slept with his fathers, and that Joab the captain of the host was dead, Hadad said to Pharaoh, Let me depart, that I may go to my own country.

22. ഫറവോന് അവനോടുനീ സ്വദേശത്തേക്കു പോകുവാന് താല്പര്യപ്പെടേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്റെ അടുക്കല് നിനക്കു എന്തു കുറവുള്ള എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു; അതിന്നു അവന് ഒന്നുമുണ്ടായിട്ടല്ല; എങ്കിലും എന്നെ ഒന്നയക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

22. Then Pharaoh said to him, But what have you lacked with me, that, behold, you seek to go to your own country? And he answered, Nothing: however, let me go in any wise.

23. ദൈവം അവന്റെ നേരെ എല്യാദാവിന്റെ മകനായ രെസോന് എന്ന മറ്റൊരു പ്രതിയോഗിയെയും എഴുന്നേല്പിച്ചു; അവന് സോബാരാജാവായ ഹദദേസര് എന്ന തന്റെ യജമാനനെ വിട്ടു ഔടിപ്പോയിരുന്നു.

23. And God stirred him up another adversary, Rezon the son of Eliadah, which fled from his lord Hadadezer king of Zobah:

24. ദാവീദ് സോബക്കാരെ നിഗ്രഹിച്ചപ്പോള് അവന് തനിക്കു ആളുകളെ ശേഖരിച്ചു അവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിന്നു നായകനായ്തീര്ന്നു; അവര് ദമ്മേശെക്കില് ചെന്നു അവിടെ പാര്ത്തു ദമ്മേശെക്കില് വാണു.

24. And he gathered men to him, and became captain over a band, when David slew them of Zobah: and they went to Damascus, and dwelled therein, and reigned in Damascus.

25. ഹദദ് ചെയ്ത ദോഷം കൂടാതെ ഇവനും ശലോമോന്റെ കാലത്തൊക്കെയും യിസ്രായേലിന്നു പ്രതിയോഗി ആയിരുന്നു; അവന് യിസ്രായേലിനെ വെറുത്തു അരാമില് രാജാവായിവാണു.

25. And he was an adversary to Israel all the days of Solomon, beside the mischief that Hadad did: and he abhorred Israel, and reigned over Syria.

26. സെരേദയില്നിന്നുള്ള എഫ്രയീമ്യനായ നെബാത്തിന്റെ മകന് യൊരോബെയാം എന്ന ശലോമോന്റെ ദാസനും രാജാവിനോടു മത്സരിച്ചു; അവന്റെ അമ്മ സെരൂയാ എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു വിധവ ആയിരുന്നു.

26. And Jeroboam the son of Nebat, an Ephrathite of Zereda, Solomon's servant, whose mother's name was Zeruah, a widow woman, even he lifted up his hand against the king.

27. അവന് രാജാവിനോടു മത്സരിപ്പാനുള്ള കാരണം എന്തെന്നാല്ശലോമോന് മില്ലോ പണിതു, തന്റെ അപ്പനായ ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തിന്റെ അറ്റകുറ്റം തീര്ത്തു.

27. And this was the cause that he lifted up his hand against the king: Solomon built Millo, and repaired the breaches of the city of David his father.

28. എന്നാല് യൊരോബെയാം ബഹു പ്രാപ്തിയുള്ള പുരുഷന് ആയിരുന്നു; ഈ യൌവനക്കാരന് പരിശ്രമശീലന് എന്നു കണ്ടിട്ടു ശലോമോന് യോസേഫ്ഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ കാര്യാദികളൊക്കെയും അവന്റെ വിചാരണയില് ഏല്പിച്ചു.

28. And the man Jeroboam was a mighty man of valor: and Solomon seeing the young man that he was industrious, he made him ruler over all the charge of the house of Joseph.

29. ആ കാലത്തു ഒരിക്കല് യൊരോബെയാം യെരൂശലേമില്നിന്നു വരുമ്പോള് ശിലോന്യനായ അഹിയാപ്രവാചകന് വഴിയില്വെച്ചു അവനെ കണ്ടു; അവന് ഒരു പുതിയ അങ്കി ധരിച്ചിരുന്നു; രണ്ടുപേരും വയലില് തനിച്ചായിരുന്നു.

29. And it came to pass at that time when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, that the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite found him in the way; and he had clad himself with a new garment; and they two were alone in the field:

30. അഹിയാവു താന് ധരിച്ചിരുന്ന പുതിയ അങ്കി പിടിച്ചു പന്ത്രണ്ടു ഖണ്ഡമായി കീറി

30. And Ahijah caught the new garment that was on him, and rent it in twelve pieces:

31. യൊരോബെയാമിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്പത്തു ഖണ്ഡം നീ എടുത്തുകൊള്ക; യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഇതാ ഞാന് രാജത്വം ശലോമോന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു പറിച്ചുകീറി, പത്തു ഗോത്രം നിനക്കു തരുന്നു.

31. And he said to Jeroboam, Take you ten pieces: for thus said the LORD, the God of Israel, Behold, I will rend the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to you:

32. എന്നാല് എന്റെ ദാസനായ ദാവീദിന് നിമിത്തവും ഞാന് എല്ലായിസ്രായേല്ഗോത്രങ്ങളില്നിന്നും തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത യെരൂശലേം നഗരം നിമിത്തവും ഒരു ഗോത്രം അവന്നു ഇരിക്കും.

32. (But he shall have one tribe for my servant David's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel:)

33. അവര് എന്നെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു, സീദോന്യദേവിയായ അസ്തോരെത്തിനെയും മോവാബ്യദേവനായ കെമോശിനെയും അമ്മോന്യദേവനായ മില്ക്കോമിനെയും നമസ്കരിക്കയും അവന്റെ അപ്പനായ ദാവീദ് എന്നപോലെ എനിക്കു പ്രസാദമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്വാനും എന്റെ ചട്ടങ്ങളും വിധികളും പ്രമാണിപ്പാനും അവര് എന്റെ വഴികളില് നടക്കാതെ ഇരിക്കയും ചെയ്തതു കൊണ്ടു തന്നേ.

33. Because that they have forsaken me, and have worshipped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in my eyes, and to keep my statutes and my judgments, as did David his father.

34. എന്നാല് രാജത്വം മുഴുവനും ഞാന് അവന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു എടുക്കയില്ല; ഞാന് തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തവനും എന്റെ കല്പനകളെയും ചട്ടങ്ങളെയും പ്രമാണിച്ചവനും ആയ എന്റെ ദാസന് ദാവീദ് നിമിത്തം ഞാന് അവനെ അവന്റെ ജീവകാലത്തൊക്കെയും പ്രഭുവായി വെച്ചേക്കും.

34. However, I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand: but I will make him prince all the days of his life for David my servant's sake, whom I chose, because he kept my commandments and my statutes:

35. എങ്കിലും അവന്റെ മകന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു ഞാന് രാജത്വം എടുത്തു നിനക്കു തരും; പത്തു ഗോത്രങ്ങളെ തന്നേ.

35. But I will take the kingdom out of his son's hand, and will give it to you, even ten tribes.

36. എന്റെ നാമം സ്ഥാപിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത യെരൂശലേംനഗരത്തില് എന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ എന്റെ ദാസനായ ദാവീദിന്നു എന്നേക്കും ഒരു ദീപം ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കത്തക്കവണ്ണം ഞാന് അവന്റെ മകന്നു ഒരു ഗോത്രത്തെ കൊടുക്കും.

36. And to his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a light always before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.

37. നീയോ നിന്റെ ഇഷ്ടംപോലെ ഒക്കെയും വാണു യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രാജാവായിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് നിന്നെ എടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

37. And I will take you, and you shall reign according to all that your soul desires, and shall be king over Israel.

38. ഞാന് നിന്നോടു കല്പിക്കുന്നതൊക്കെയും നീ കേട്ടു എന്റെ വഴികളില് നടന്നു എന്റെ ദാസനായ ദാവീദ് ചെയ്തതു പോലെ എന്റെ ചട്ടങ്ങളും കല്പനകളും പ്രമാണിച്ചു കൊണ്ടു എനിക്കു പ്രസാദമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്താല് ഞാന് നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കും; ഞാന് ദാവീദിന്നു പണിതതുപോലെ നിനക്കു സ്ഥിരമായോരു ഗൃഹം പണിതു യിസ്രായേലിനെ നിനക്കു തരും.

38. And it shall be, if you will listen to all that I command you, and will walk in my ways, and do that is right in my sight, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did; that I will be with you, and build you a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel to you.

39. ദാവീദിന്റെ സന്തതിയെയോ ഞാന് ഇതു നിമിത്തം താഴ്ത്തും; സദാകാലത്തേക്കല്ലതാനും.

39. And I will for this afflict the seed of David, but not for ever.

40. അതുകൊണ്ടു ശലോമോന് യൊരോബെയാമിനെ കൊല്ലുവാന് അന്വേഷിച്ചു. എന്നാല് യൊരോബെയാം എഴുന്നേറ്റു മിസ്രയീമില് ശീശക്ക് എന്ന മിസ്രയീംരാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ഔടിപ്പോയി; ശലോമോന്റെ മരണംവരെ അവന് മിസ്രയീമില് ആയിരുന്നു.

40. Solomon sought therefore to kill Jeroboam. And Jeroboam arose, and fled into Egypt, to Shishak king of Egypt, and was in Egypt until the death of Solomon.

41. ശലോമോന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും അവന് ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും അവന്റെ ജ്ഞാനവും ശലോമോന്റെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

41. And the rest of the acts of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom, are they not written in the book of the acts of Solomon?

42. ശലോമോന് യെരൂശലേമില് എല്ലാ യിസ്രായേലിനെയും വാണകാലം നാല്പതു സംവത്സരം ആയിരുന്നു.

42. And the time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years.

43. ശലോമോന് തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു; അവന്റെ അപ്പനായ ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തില് അവനെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ മകനായ രെഹബെയാം അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.

43. And Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.
