1. പ്രവാചകശിഷ്യന്മാരുടെ ഭാര്യമാരില് ഒരുത്തി എലീശയോടു നിലവിളിച്ചുനിന്റെ ദാസനായ എന്റെ ഭര്ത്താവു മരിച്ചുപോയി; നിന്റെ ദാസന് യഹോവാഭക്തനായിരുന്നു എന്നു നിനക്കറിയാമല്ലോ; ഇപ്പോള് കടക്കാരന് എന്റെ രണ്ടു മക്കളെ പിടിച്ചു അടിമകളാക്കുവാന് വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

1. And there cryed a certayne woman of the wyues of the sonnes of the prophetes, vnto Elisa, saying: Thy seruaunt my husband is dead, & thou knowest that thy seruaunt did feare the Lorde: And the creditor is come to fet my two sonnes to be his bondmen.

2. എലീശ അവളോടുഞാന് നിനക്കു വേണ്ടി എന്തു ചെയ്യേണം? പറക; വീട്ടില് നിനക്കു എന്തുള്ളു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. ഒരു ഭരണി എണ്ണയല്ലാതെ അടിയന്റെ വീട്ടില് മറ്റൊന്നും ഇല്ല എന്നു അവള് പറഞ്ഞു.

2. Elisa saide vnto her: Tell me what I shall do for thee? What hast thou in thyne house? She saide: Thyne handemayde hath nothing at all in the house, saue a pitcher with oyle.

3. അതിന്നു അവന് നീ ചെന്നു നിന്റെ അയല്ക്കാരോടൊക്കെയും വെറുമ്പാത്രങ്ങള് വായ്പ വാങ്ങുക; പാത്രങ്ങള് കുറവായിരിക്കരുതു.

3. He saide vnto her: Go, and borow vessels for thee [of them that are] without, [euen] of all thy neighbours, emptie vessels, and that not a fewe:

4. പിന്നെ നീയും നിന്റെ മക്കളും അകത്തു കയറി വാതില് അടെച്ചു പാത്രങ്ങളിലൊക്കെയും പകര്ന്നു, നിറഞ്ഞതു നിറഞ്ഞതു ഒരു ഭാഗത്തുമാറ്റിവെക്കുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the doore after thee and after thy sonnes, and powre out into all those vessels: and set asyde that which is full.

5. അവള് അവനെ വിട്ടു ചെന്നു തന്റെ മക്കളോടുകൂടെ അകത്തു കടന്നു വാതില് അടെച്ചു; അവര് അവളുടെ അടുക്കല് പാത്രങ്ങളെ വെച്ചുകൊടുക്കയും അവള് പകരുകയും ചെയ്തു.

5. And so she went from him, and shut the doore after her & after her sonnes: And they brought to her, & she powred out.

6. പാത്രങ്ങള് നിറഞ്ഞശേഷം അവള് തന്റെ മകനോടുഇനിയും പാത്രം കൊണ്ടുവരിക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് അവളോടുപാത്രം ഒന്നും ഇല്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോള് എണ്ണ നിന്നുപോയി.

6. And it came to passe, that when the vessels were ful, she said vnto her sonne: Bryng me yet a vessel. And he said vnto her: I haue no mo. And ye oyle ceassed.

7. അവള് ചെന്നു ദൈവപുരുഷനോടു വസ്തുത അറിയിച്ചു. നീ പോയി എണ്ണ വിറ്റു കടം വീട്ടി ശേഷിപ്പുകൊണ്ടു നീയും മക്കളും ഉപജീവനും കഴിച്ചുകൊള്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

7. Then she came and tolde the man of God: And he sayde, Go, and sell the oyle, and pay them that thou art in debt vnto: but lyue thou and thy children of the rest.

8. ഒരു ദിവസം എലീശാ ശൂനേമിലേക്കു പോയി; അവിടെ ധനികയായോരു സ്ത്രി ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവള് അവനെ ഭക്ഷണത്തിന്നു വരേണം എന്നു നിര്ബ്ബന്ധിച്ചു. പിന്നെത്തേതില് അവന് ആ വഴി പോകുമ്പോഴൊക്കെയും ഭക്ഷണത്തിന്നു അവിടെ കയറും.

8. And it fell on a day, that Elisa came to Sunem, where was a great woman, that toke him in for to eate bread: And so it came to passe, that from that tyme foorth (as oft as he came that way) he turned in thyther to eate bread.

9. അവള് തന്റെ ഭര്ത്താവിനോടുനമ്മുടെ വഴിയായി കൂടക്കൂടെ കടന്നുപോകുന്ന ഈയാള് വിശുദ്ധനായോരു ദൈവപുരുഷന് എന്നു ഞാന് കാണുന്നു.

9. And she saide vnto her husband: Beholde, I perceaue that this is an holy man of God which passeth by vs continually.

10. നാം ചുവരോടുകൂടിയ ചെറിയോരു മാളികമുറി പണിതുണ്ടാക്കുക; അതില് അവന്നു ഒരു കട്ടിലും ഒരു മേശയും ഒരു നാല്ക്കാലിയും ഒരു നിലവിളക്കും വേക്കും; അവന് നമ്മുടെ അടുക്കല് വരുമ്പോള് അവന്നു അവിടെ കയറി പാര്ക്കാമല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. Let vs make him a litle chamber I pray thee, with walles, & let vs set him there a bed, and a table, and a stoole, and a candelsticke: that he may turne in thyther when he commeth to vs.

11. പിന്നെ ഒരു ദിവസം അവന് അവിടെ വരുവാന് ഇടയായി; അവന് ആ മാളികമുറിയില് കയറി അവിടെ കിടന്നുറങ്ങി.

11. And it fortuned on a day that he came thither, and turned into the chamber, & lay therein,

12. അവന് തന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാരനായ ഗേഹസിയോടുശൂനേംകാരത്തിയെ വിളിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് അവളെ വിളിച്ചു. അവള് അവന്റെ മുമ്പില് വന്നുനിന്നു.

12. And saide to Gehezi his seruaunt: Call this Sunamite. And when he called her, she presented her selfe before him.

13. അവന് അവനോടുനീ ഇത്ര താല്പര്യത്തോടെയൊക്കെയും ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു വേണ്ടി കരുതിയല്ലോ? നിനക്കു വേണ്ടി എന്തു ചെയ്യേണം? രാജാവിനോടോ സേനാധിപതിയോടോ നിനക്കു വേണ്ടി വല്ലതും പറയേണ്ടതുണ്ടോ എന്നു നീ അവളോടു ചോദിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു അവള്ഞാന് സ്വജനത്തിന്റെ മദ്ധ്യേ വസിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13. And againe he said vnto him: Tel her, beholde thou hast ben carefull for vs with all this care, What shal we now do for thee? Wouldest thou be spoken for to the king, or to the captayne of the hoast? She aunswered: I dwell among myne owne people.

14. എന്നാല് അവള്ക്കു വേണ്ടി എന്തുചെയ്യാമെന്നു അവന് ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു ഗേഹസിഅവള്ക്കു മകനില്ലല്ലോ; അവളുടെ ഭര്ത്താവു വൃദ്ധനും ആകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

14. And he said againe: What is to be done for her? Gehezi aunswered: Ueryly she hath no childe, and her husband is olde.

15. അവളെ വിളിക്ക എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് അവളെ വിളിച്ചപ്പോള് അവള് വാതില്ക്കല് വന്നുനിന്നു.

15. And he said: Call her. And when he had called her, she stoode in the doore.

16. അപ്പോള് അവന് വരുന്ന ആണ്ടില് ഈ സമയമാകുമ്പോഴേക്കു നീ ഒരു മകനെ അണെച്ചുകൊള്ളും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു അവള്അല്ല, ദൈവപുരുഷനായ എന്റെ യജമാനനേ, അടിയനോടു ഭോഷകു പറയരുതേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

16. And he saide: At this tyme appoynted, according to the tyme of lyfe, thou shalt imbrace a sonne. And she said: Oh nay my lorde thou man of God, do not lye vnto thyne handmayde.

17. ആ സ്ത്രീ ഗര്ഭംധരിച്ചു പിറ്റെ ആണ്ടില് എലീശാ അവളോടു പറഞ്ഞ സമയത്തു തന്നേ ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

17. And the wyfe conceaued, and bare a sonne that same season that Elisa had sayde vnto her, acording to the tyme of lyfe.

18. ബാലന് വളര്ന്നപ്പോള് ഒരു ദിവസം അവന് കൊയ്ത്തുകാരോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്ന തന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു.

18. And when the childe was growen, it fell on a day that he went out to his father, and to the reapers,

19. അവന് അപ്പനോടുഎന്റെ തല, എന്റെ തല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് ഒരു ബാല്യക്കാരനോടുഇവനെ എടുത്തു അമ്മയുടെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടു പോക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

19. And he said vnto his father: My head, my head. And he saide to a lad: Cary him to his mother.

20. അവന് അവനെ എടുത്തു അവന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ അടുക്കല് കെണ്ടുചെന്നു; അവന് ഉച്ചവരെ അവളുടെ മടിയില് ഇരുന്നശേഷം മരിച്ചുപോയി.

20. And when he had taken him & brought him to his mother, he sate on her knees till noone, and then dyed.

21. അപ്പോള് അവള് കയറിച്ചെന്നു അവനെ ദൈവപുരുഷന്റെ കട്ടിലിന്മേല് കിടത്തി വാതില് അടെച്ചു പുറത്തിറങ്ങി.

21. And she went vp, and laide him on the bed of the man of God, & shut [the doore] vpon him, and went out,

22. പിന്നെ അവള് തന്റെ ഭര്ത്താവിനെ വിളിച്ചുഞാന് വേഗത്തില് ദൈവപുരുഷന്റെ അടുക്കലോളം പോയിവരേണ്ടതിന്നു എനിക്കു ഒരു ബാല്യക്കാരനെയും ഒരു കഴുതയെയും അയച്ചുതരേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

22. And called vnto her husband, & sayde: Send with me I pray thee one of the young men, and one of the asses: for I will runne to the man of God, and come againe.

23. അതിന്നു അവന് ഇന്നു നീ അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് പോകുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു? ഇന്നു അമാവാസ്യയല്ല, ശബ്ബത്തും അല്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. വേണ്ടതില്ല എന്നു അവള് പറഞ്ഞു.

23. And he saide: Wherefore wylt thou go to him? seing that to day is neither newe moone nor sabbath day. And she aunswered: All shalbe well.

24. അങ്ങനെ അവള് കഴുതപ്പുറത്തു കോപ്പിട്ടു കയറി ബാല്യക്കാരനോടുനല്ലവണ്ണം തെളിച്ചുവിടുക; ഞാന് പറഞ്ഞല്ലാതെ വഴിയില് എവിടെയും നിര്ത്തരുതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

24. Then she sadled an asse, and saide to her seruaunt: Dryue and go forwarde, staye not for me to get vp, except I hyd thee.

25. അവള് ചെന്നു കര്മ്മേല്പര്വ്വതത്തില് ദൈവപുരുഷന്റെ അടുക്കല് എത്തി; ദൈവപുരുഷന് അവളെ ദൂരത്തുകണ്ടപ്പോള് തന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാരനായ ഗേഹസിയോടുഅതാ, ശൂനേംകാരത്തി വരുന്നു; നീ ഔടിച്ചെന്നു അവളെ എതിരേറ്റു

25. And so she went, and came vnto the man of God to mount Carmel: And it fortuned, that when the man of God sawe her farre of, he saide to Gehezi his seruaunt: Beholde, yonder is the Sunamite:

26. സുഖം തന്നേയോ? ഭര്ത്താവു സുഖമായിരിക്കുന്നുവോ? ബാലന്നു സുഖമുണ്ടോ എന്നു അവളോടു ചോദിക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. സുഖം തന്നേ എന്നു അവള് പറഞ്ഞു.

26. Runne therefore to meete her, & saye vnto her: Is all well with thee, & with thy husband, and with the lad? And she aunswered: All is well.

27. അവള് പര്വ്വതത്തില് ദൈവപുരുഷന്റെ അടുക്കല് എത്തിയപ്പോള് അവന്റെ കാല് പിടിച്ചു; ഗേഹസി അവളെ മാറ്റുവാന് അടുത്തുചെന്നാറെ ദൈവപുരുഷന് അവളെ വിടുക; അവള്ക്കു വലിയ മനോവ്യസനം ഉണ്ടു; യഹോവ അതു എന്നെ അറിയിക്കാതെ മറെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

27. And when she came to the man of God vp to the hill, she caught him by the feete: But Gehezi went to her, to thrust her away. And the man of God sayde: Let her alone, for her soule is vexed within her, and the Lorde hath hid it from me, and hath not tolde it me.

28. ഞാന് യജമാനനോടു ഒരു മകനെ ചോദിച്ചിരുന്നുവോ? എന്നെ ചതിക്കരുതേ എന്നു ഞാന് പറഞ്ഞില്ലയോ എന്നു അവള് പറഞ്ഞു.

28. Then she saide: Did I desire a sonne of my Lorde? did I not require thee that thou shouldest not deceaue me?

29. ഉടനെ അവന് ഗേഹസിയോടുനീ അര കെട്ടി എന്റെ വടിയും കയ്യില് എടുത്തുപോക; നീ ആരെ എങ്കിലും കണ്ടാല് വന്ദനം ചെയ്യരുതു; നിന്നെ വന്ദനം ചെയ്താല് പ്രതിവന്ദനം പറകയും അരുതു; എന്റെ വടി ബാലന്റെ മുഖത്തു വെക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

29. Then he saide to Gehezi: Girde vp thy loynes, and take my staffe in thyne hande, and go thy way: If thou meete any man salute him not: And if any salute thee, aunswere him not againe: And lay my staffe vpon the face of the childe.

30. എന്നാല് ബാലന്റെ അമ്മ യഹോവയാണ, നിന്റെ ജീവനാണ, ഞാന് നിന്നെ വിടുകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അങ്ങനെ അവന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവളോടുകൂടെ പോയി.

30. And the mother of the childe said: As the Lorde lyueth, and as thy soule lyueth, I wyll not leaue thee. And he arose, and folowed her.

31. ഗേഹസി അവര്ക്കും മുമ്പായി ചെന്നു വടി ബാലന്റെ മുഖത്തു വെച്ചു; എങ്കിലും ഒരു അനക്കമോ ഉണര്ച്ചയോ ഉണ്ടായില്ല; അതുകൊണ്ടു അവന് അവനെ എതിരേല്പാന് മടങ്ങിവന്നുബാലന് ഉണര്ന്നില്ല എന്നു അറിയിച്ചു.

31. Gehezi went before them, and layed the staffe vpon the face of the childe, but ther was neither voyce nor any feeling: wherfore he went againe to meete him, and tolde him, saying: The childe is not awaked.

32. എലീശാ വീട്ടില് വന്നപ്പോള് തന്റെ കട്ടിലിന്മേല് ബാലന് മരിച്ചുകിടക്കുന്നതുകണ്ടു.

32. And when Elisa was come into the house, behold the childe was dead, and layde vpon his bed.

33. താനും ബാലനും മാത്രം അകത്തു ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കെ അവന് വാതില് അടെച്ചു യഹോവയോടു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചു.

33. He went in therefore, & shut the doore vpon them twayne, & prayed vnto the Lorde,

34. പിന്നെ അവന് കയറി ബാലന്റെ മേല് കിടന്നു; തന്റെ വായ് ബാലന്റെ വായ്മേലും തന്റെ കണ്ണു അവന്റെ കണ്ണിന്മേലും തന്റെ ഉള്ളംകൈകള് അവന്റെ ഉള്ളം കൈകളിന്മേലും വെച്ചു അവന്റെമേല് കവിണ്ണുകിടന്നപ്പോള് ബാലന്റെ ദേഹത്തിന്നു ചൂടുപിടിച്ചു.

34. And went vp, and laye vpon the lad, and put his mouth on his mouth, & his eyes vpon his eyes, & his handes vpon his handes, & when he so laye vpon the childe, the fleshe of the childe waxed warme.

35. അവന് ഇറങ്ങി മുറിയില് അങ്ങോട്ടും ഇങ്ങോട്ടും ഒന്നു നടന്നിട്ടു പിന്നെയും കയറി അവന്റെമേല് കവിണ്ണുകിടന്നു; അപ്പോള് ബാലന് ഏഴു പ്രാവശ്യം തുമ്മി കണ്ണു തുറന്നു.

35. And he went againe, and walked once vp and downe in the house, & then went vp, & layde him selfe vpon him againe: And then the childe gasped seue times, and opened his eyes.

36. അവന് ഗേഹസിയെ വിളിച്ചു; ശൂനേംകാരത്തിയെ വിളിക്ക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു; അവന് അവളെ വിളിച്ചു. അവള് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നപ്പോള് അവന് നിന്റെ മകനെ എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടു പോയ്ക്കൊള്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

36. And he called Gehezi, and saide: Call for this Sunamite. So he called her: which when she was come in vnto him, he saide vnto her: Take thy sonne.

37. അവള് അകത്തുചെന്നു അവന്റെ കാല്ക്കല് സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു നമസ്കരിച്ചു തന്റെ മകനെ എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടുപോയി.

37. Therfore she went in, and fell at his feete, and bowed her selfe to the ground, and toke vp her sonne, and went out.

38. അനന്തരം എലീശാ ഗില്ഗാലില് പോയി; അന്നു ദേശത്തു ക്ഷാമം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; പ്രവാചകശിഷ്യന്മാര് അവന്റെ മുമ്പില് ഇരിക്കുമ്പോള് അവന് തന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാരനോടുനീ വലിയ കലം അടുപ്പത്തു വെച്ചു പ്രവാചകശിഷ്യന്മാര്ക്കും പായസം ഉണ്ടാക്കുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

38. Elisa came againe to Gilgal, and there was a dearth in the lande, and the children of the prophetes dwelt with him: And he saide vnto his seruaunt, Set a great pot on [the fyre] and make potage for the children of the prophetes.

39. ഒരുത്തന് ചീര പറിപ്പാന് വയലില് ചെന്നു ഒരു കാട്ടുവള്ളി കണ്ടു മടിനിറയ പേച്ചുര പറിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; അവര് അറിയായ്കയാല് അരിഞ്ഞു പായസക്കലത്തില് ഇട്ടു.

39. And one went out into the fielde to gather hearbes, and found a wylde vine, and gathered therof wylde gourdes his lap ful, and came and shred them into the pot of pottage: for they knew it not.

40. അവര് അതു ആളുകള്ക്കു വിളമ്പി; അവര് പായസം കുടിക്കുമ്പോള് നിലവിളിച്ചു; ദൈവപുരുഷനായുള്ളോവേ കലത്തില് മരണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

40. So they powred out for the men to eate: And it fortuned, that when they tasted of the pottage, they cryed out and said, O thou man of God, there is death in the pot. And they could not eate therof.

41. അവര്ക്കും കുടിപ്പാന് കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല. മാവു കൊണ്ടുവരുവിന് എന്നു അവന് പറഞ്ഞു അതു കലത്തില് ഇട്ടുആളുകള്ക്കു വിളമ്പികൊടുക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. പിന്നെ ദൂഷ്യമായുള്ളതൊന്നും കലത്തില് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല.

41. But he saide: bring meale. And he cast it into the pot, and he saide: Fill for the people, that they may eate. And there was no more harme in the pot.

42. അനന്തരം ബാല്-ശാലീശയില്നിന്നു ഒരാള് ദൈവപുരുഷന്നു ആദ്യഫലമായിട്ടു ഇരുപതു യവത്തപ്പവും മലരും പൊക്കണത്തില് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു. ജനത്തിന്നു അതു തിന്മാന് കൊടുക്ക എന്നു അവന് കല്പിച്ചു.

42. There came a man from Baal Salisa, and brought the man of God bread of the first fruites, euen twentie loaues of barlye, & full eares of corne in the huske: And he said, Geue vnto the people, that they may eate.

43. അതിന്നു അവന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാരന് ഞാന് ഇതു നൂറു പേര്ക്കും എങ്ങനെ വിളമ്പും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന് പിന്നെയുംജനത്തിന്നു അതു തിന്മാന് കൊടുക്ക; അവര് തിന്നുകയും ശേഷിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്യും എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

43. And his minister aunswered: Why shall I set this before an hundred men? He said againe, Geue it vnto the people, that they may eate: For thus saith the Lorde, They shall eate, and there shal be left ouer.

44. അങ്ങനെ അവന് അവര്ക്കും വിളമ്പിക്കൊടുത്തു; യഹോവയുടെ വചനപ്രകാരം അവര് തിന്നുകയും ശേഷിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

44. And so he set it before them, and they did eate, and left ouer, according to the word of the Lorde.
