1. അനന്തരം എലീശാ താന് മകനെ ജീവിപ്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തിരുന്ന സ്ത്രീയോടുനീയും നിന്റെ ഭവനവും പുറപ്പെട്ടു എവിടെയെങ്കിലും പരദേശവാസം ചെയ്തുകൊള്വിന് ; യഹോവ ഒരു ക്ഷാമം വരുത്തുവാന് പോകുന്നു; അതു ഏഴു സംവത്സരം ദേശത്തു ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

1. Now Elisha spoke to the woman whose son he had restored to life, saying, 'Arise and go with your household, and sojourn wherever you can sojourn; for the LORD has called for a famine, and it will even come on the land for seven years.'

2. ആ സ്ത്രീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ദൈവപുരുഷന് പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ചെയ്തു; അവളും ഭവനവും ഫെലിസ്ത്യദേശത്തുപോയി ഏഴു സംവത്സരം പരദേശവാസം ചെയ്തു.

2. So the woman arose and did according to the word of the man of God, and she went with her household and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.

3. ഏഴു സംവത്സരം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു അവള് ഫെലിസ്ത്യദേശത്തുനിന്നു മടങ്ങിവന്നു; പിന്നെ അവള് തന്റെ വീടും നിലവും സംബന്ധിച്ചു രാജാവിനോടു സങ്കടം ബോധിപ്പിപ്പാന് ചെന്നു.

3. At the end of seven years, the woman returned from the land of the Philistines; and she went out to appeal to the king for her house and for her field.

4. അന്നേരം രാജാവു ദൈവപുരുഷന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാരനായ ഗേഹസിയോടു സംസാരിക്കയില്എലീശാ ചെയ്ത വന് കാര്യങ്ങളൊക്കെയും നീ എന്നോടു വിവരിച്ചുപറക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

4. Now the king was talking with Gehazi, the servant of the man of God, saying, 'Please relate to me all the great things that Elisha has done.'

5. മരിച്ചുപോയവനെ ജീവിപ്പിച്ച വിവരം അവന് രാജാവിനെ കേള്പ്പിക്കുമ്പോള് തന്നേ അവന് മകനെ ജീവിപ്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തിരുന്ന സ്ത്രീ വന്നു തന്റെ വീടും നിലവും സംബന്ധിച്ചു രാജാവിനോടു സങ്കടം ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു. അപ്പോള് ഗേഹസിയജമാനനായ രാജാവേ, ഇവള് തന്നേ ആ സ്ത്രീ; എലീശാ ജീവിപ്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്ത മകന് ഇവന് തന്നേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. As he was relating to the king how he had restored to life the one who was dead, behold, the woman whose son he had restored to life appealed to the king for her house and for her field. And Gehazi said, 'My lord, O king, this is the woman and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.'

6. രാജാവു സ്ത്രീയോടു ചോദിച്ചപ്പോള് അവളും അതു വിവരിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു രാജാവു ഒരു ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥനെ നിയമിച്ചുഅവള്ക്കുണ്ടായിരുന്നതൊക്കെയും അവള് ദേശം വിട്ടുപോയ നാള്മുതല് ഇതുവരെയുള്ള നിലത്തിന്റെ ആദായവും അവള്ക്കു കൊടുപ്പിക്കേണം എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

6. When the king asked the woman, she related [it] to him. So the king appointed for her a certain officer, saying, 'Restore all that was hers and all the produce of the field from the day that she left the land even until now.'

7. അനന്തരം എലീശാ ദമ്മേശെക്കില് ചെന്നു; അന്നു അരാംരാജാവായ ബെന് -ഹദദ് ദീനംപിടിച്ചു കിടക്കുകയായിരുന്നു; ദൈവപുരുഷന് വന്നിട്ടുണ്ടു എന്നു അവന്നു അറിവു കിട്ടി.

7. Then Elisha came to Damascus. Now Ben-hadad king of Aram was sick, and it was told him, saying, 'The man of God has come here.'

8. രാജാവു ഹസായേലിനോടുഒരു സമ്മാനം എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടു ദൈവപുരുഷനെ ചെന്നുകണ്ടുഈ ദീനം മാറി എനിക്കു സൌഖ്യം വരുമോ എന്നു അവന് മുഖാന്തരം യഹോവയോടു ചോദിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

8. The king said to Hazael, 'Take a gift in your hand and go to meet the man of God, and inquire of the LORD by him, saying, 'Will I recover from this sickness?''

9. അങ്ങനെ ഹസായേല് ദമ്മേശെക്കിലെ വിശേഷവസ്തുക്കളില്നിന്നൊക്കെയും എടുത്തു നാല്പതു ഒട്ടകച്ചുമടുമായി അവനെ ചെന്നുകണ്ടു അവന്റെ മുമ്പില് നിന്നുനിന്റെ മകന് അരാം രാജാവായ ബെന് -ഹദദ് എന്നെ നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചുഈ ദീനം മാറി എനിക്കു സൌഖ്യം വരുമോ എന്നു ചോദിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു എലീശാ;

9. So Hazael went to meet him and took a gift in his hand, even every kind of good thing of Damascus, forty camels' loads; and he came and stood before him and said, 'Your son Ben-hadad king of Aram has sent me to you, saying, 'Will I recover from this sickness?''

10. നീ ചെന്നു അവനോടുനിനക്കു നിശ്ചയമായിട്ടു സൌഖ്യം വരും എന്നു പറക; എന്നാല് അവന് നിശ്ചയമായി മരിച്ചുപോകുമെന്നു യഹോവ എനിക്കു വെളിപ്പെടുത്തിത്തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. Then Elisha said to him, 'Go, say to him, 'You will surely recover,' but the LORD has shown me that he will certainly die.'

11. പിന്നെ അവന്നു ലജ്ജ തോന്നുവോളം അവന് കണ്ണുപറിക്കാതെ അവനെ ഉറ്റുനോക്കി ദൈവപുരുഷന് കരഞ്ഞു.

11. He fixed his gaze steadily [on him] until he was ashamed, and the man of God wept.

12. യജമാനന് കരയുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ഹസായേല് ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു അവന് നീ യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളോടു ചെയ്വാനിരിക്കുന്ന ദോഷം ഞാന് അറിയുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു തന്നേ; നീ അവരുടെ ദുര്ഗ്ഗങ്ങളെ തീയിട്ടു ചുടുകയും അവരുടെ യൌവനക്കാരെ വാള്കൊണ്ടു കൊല്ലുകയും അവരുടെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെ അടിച്ചു തകര്ക്കയും അവരുടെ ഗര്ഭിണികളെ പിളര്ക്കയും ചെയ്യും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

12. Hazael said, 'Why does my lord weep?' Then he answered, 'Because I know the evil that you will do to the sons of Israel: their strongholds you will set on fire, and their young men you will kill with the sword, and their little ones you will dash in pieces, and their women with child you will rip up.'

13. ഈ മഹാകാര്യം ചെയ്വാന് നായായിരിക്കുന്ന അടിയന് എന്തു മാത്രമുള്ളു എന്നു ഹസായേല് പറഞ്ഞതിന്നു എലീശാനീ അരാമില് രാജാവാകും എന്നു യഹോവ എനിക്കു വെളിപ്പെടുത്തിത്തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13. Then Hazael said, 'But what is your servant, [who is but] a dog, that he should do this great thing?' And Elisha answered, 'The LORD has shown me that you will be king over Aram.'

14. അവന് എലീശയെ വിട്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടു തന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നപ്പോള്എലീശാ നിന്നോടു എന്തു പറഞ്ഞു എന്നു അവന് ചോദിച്ചു. നിനക്കു നിശ്ചയമായി സൌഖ്യം വരും എന്നു അവന് എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞു എന്നു അവന് ഉത്തരംപറഞ്ഞു.

14. So he departed from Elisha and returned to his master, who said to him, 'What did Elisha say to you?' And he answered, 'He told me that you would surely recover.'

15. പിറ്റെന്നാള് അവന് ഒരു കമ്പിളി എടുത്തു വെള്ളത്തില് മുക്കി അവന്റെ മുഖത്തിട്ടു; അതിനാല് അവന് മരിച്ചുപോയി; ഹസായേല് അവന്നുപകരം രാജാവായ്തീര്ന്നു.

15. On the following day, he took the cover and dipped it in water and spread it on his face, so that he died. And Hazael became king in his place.

16. യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ ആഹാബിന്റെ മകനായ യോരാമിന്റെ അഞ്ചാം ആണ്ടില് യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യെഹൂദയില് രാജാവായിരിക്കുമ്പോള് തന്നേ യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ മകന് യെഹോരാം രാജാവായി.

16. Now in the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being then the king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah became king.

17. അവന് വാഴ്ചതുടങ്ങിയപ്പോള് അവന്നു മുപ്പത്തിരണ്ടു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു; അവന് എട്ടു സംവത്സരം യെരൂശലേമില് വാണു.

17. He was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

18. ആഹാബിന്റെ മകള് അവന്നു ഭാര്യയായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവന് ആഹാബിന്റെ ഗൃഹം ചെയ്തതുപോലെ യിസ്രായേല്രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വഴിയില് നടന്നു യഹോവേക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു.

18. He walked in the way of the kings of Israel, just as the house of Ahab had done, for the daughter of Ahab became his wife; and he did evil in the sight of the LORD.

19. എങ്കിലും യഹോവ തന്റെ ദാസനായ ദാവീദിനോടു അവന്നും അവന്റെ മക്കള്ക്കും എന്നേക്കും ഒരു ദീപം നലകും എന്നു വാഗ്ദാനം ചെയ്തിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ നിമിത്തം യെഹൂദയെ നശിപ്പിപ്പാന് തനിക്കു മനസ്സായില്ല.

19. However, the LORD was not willing to destroy Judah, for the sake of David His servant, since He had promised him to give a lamp to him through his sons always.

20. അവന്റെ കാലത്തു എദോമ്യര് യെഹൂദയുടെ മേലധികാരത്തോടു മത്സരിച്ചു തങ്ങള്ക്കു ഒരു രാജാവിനെ വാഴിച്ചു.

20. In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and made a king over themselves.

21. അപ്പോള് യെഹോരാം സകലരഥങ്ങളുമായി സായിരിലേക്കു ചെന്നു; എന്നാല് രാത്രിയില് അവന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു തന്നെ വളഞ്ഞിരുന്ന എദോമ്യരെയും രഥനായകന്മാരെയും തോല്പിച്ചു; ജനം തങ്ങളുടെ കൂടാരങ്ങളിലേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോയി.

21. Then Joram crossed over to Zair, and all his chariots with him. And he arose by night and struck the Edomites who had surrounded him and the captains of the chariots; but [his] army fled to their tents.

22. അങ്ങിനെ എദോമ്യര് യെഹൂദയുടെ മേലധികാരത്തോടു ഇന്നുവരെ മത്സരിച്ചുനിലക്കുന്നു; ആ കാലത്തു തന്നേ ലിബ്നയും മത്സരിച്ചു.

22. So Edom revolted against Judah to this day. Then Libnah revolted at the same time.

23. യെഹോരാമിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും അവന് ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും യെഹൂദാ രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

23. The rest of the acts of Joram and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?

24. യെഹോരാം തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു അവന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടുകൂടെ ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തില് അവനെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ മകനായ അഹസ്യാവു അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.

24. So Joram slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David; and Ahaziah his son became king in his place.

25. യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ ആഹാബിന്റെ മകന് യോരാമിന്റെ പന്ത്രണ്ടാം ആണ്ടില് യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോരാമിന്റെ മകന് അഹസ്യാവു രാജാവായി.

25. In the twelfth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah began to reign.

26. അഹസ്യാവു വാഴ്ച തുടങ്ങിയപ്പോള് അവന്നു ഇരുപത്തിരണ്ടു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു; അവന് ഒരു സംവത്സരം യെരൂശലേമില് വാണു. അവന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു അഥല്യാ എന്നു പേര്; അവള് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ ഒമ്രിയുടെ പൌത്രി ആയിരുന്നു.

26. Ahaziah [was] twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. And his mother's name [was] Athaliah the granddaughter of Omri king of Israel.

27. അവന് ആഹാബ്ഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ വഴിയില് നടന്നു ആഹാബ്ഗൃഹം ചെയ്തതുപോലെ യഹോവേക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു; അവന് ആഹാബിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തോടു സംബന്ധമുള്ളവന് ആയിരുന്നുവല്ലോ.

27. He walked in the way of the house of Ahab and did evil in the sight of the LORD, like the house of Ahab [had done], because he was a son-in-law of the house of Ahab.

28. അവന് ആഹാബിന്റെ മകനായ യോരാമിനോടുകൂടെ ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിലേക്കു അരാംരാജാവായ ഹസായേലിനോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്വാന് പോയി; എന്നാല് അരാമ്യര് യോരാമിനെ മുറിവേല്പിച്ചു.

28. Then he went with Joram the son of Ahab to war against Hazael king of Aram at Ramoth-gilead, and the Arameans wounded Joram.

29. അരാംരാജാവായ ഹസായേലിനോടുള്ള യുദ്ധത്തില് രാമയില്വെച്ചു അരാമ്യര് തന്നെ വെട്ടിയ മുറിവുകള്ക്കു യിസ്രെയേലില്വെച്ചു ചികിത്സചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നു യോരാംരാജാവു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി; ആഹാബിന്റെ മകനായ യോരാം രോഗിയാകകൊണ്ടു യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോരാമിന്റെ മകന് അഹസ്യാവു യിസ്രെയേലില് അവനെ കാണ്മാന് ചെന്നിരുന്നു.

29. So King Joram returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Arameans had inflicted on him at Ramah when he fought against Hazael king of Aram. Then Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in Jezreel because he was sick.
