1. അനന്തരം എലീശാ താന് മകനെ ജീവിപ്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തിരുന്ന സ്ത്രീയോടുനീയും നിന്റെ ഭവനവും പുറപ്പെട്ടു എവിടെയെങ്കിലും പരദേശവാസം ചെയ്തുകൊള്വിന് ; യഹോവ ഒരു ക്ഷാമം വരുത്തുവാന് പോകുന്നു; അതു ഏഴു സംവത്സരം ദേശത്തു ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

1. And Elisha spake unto the woman whose son he had revived, saying, 'Rise and go, thou and thy household, and sojourn where thou dost sojourn, for Jehovah hath called for a famine, and also, it is coming unto the land seven years.'

2. ആ സ്ത്രീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ദൈവപുരുഷന് പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ചെയ്തു; അവളും ഭവനവും ഫെലിസ്ത്യദേശത്തുപോയി ഏഴു സംവത്സരം പരദേശവാസം ചെയ്തു.

2. And the woman riseth, and doth according to the word of the man of God, and goeth, she and her household, and sojourneth in the land of the Philistines seven years.

3. ഏഴു സംവത്സരം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു അവള് ഫെലിസ്ത്യദേശത്തുനിന്നു മടങ്ങിവന്നു; പിന്നെ അവള് തന്റെ വീടും നിലവും സംബന്ധിച്ചു രാജാവിനോടു സങ്കടം ബോധിപ്പിപ്പാന് ചെന്നു.

3. And it cometh to pass, at the end of seven years, that the woman turneth back from the land of the Philistines, and goeth out to cry unto the king, for her house, and for her field.

4. അന്നേരം രാജാവു ദൈവപുരുഷന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാരനായ ഗേഹസിയോടു സംസാരിക്കയില്എലീശാ ചെയ്ത വന് കാര്യങ്ങളൊക്കെയും നീ എന്നോടു വിവരിച്ചുപറക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

4. And the king is speaking unto Gehazi, servant of the man of God, saying, 'Recount, I pray thee, to me, the whole of the great things that Elisha hath done.'

5. മരിച്ചുപോയവനെ ജീവിപ്പിച്ച വിവരം അവന് രാജാവിനെ കേള്പ്പിക്കുമ്പോള് തന്നേ അവന് മകനെ ജീവിപ്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തിരുന്ന സ്ത്രീ വന്നു തന്റെ വീടും നിലവും സംബന്ധിച്ചു രാജാവിനോടു സങ്കടം ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു. അപ്പോള് ഗേഹസിയജമാനനായ രാജാവേ, ഇവള് തന്നേ ആ സ്ത്രീ; എലീശാ ജീവിപ്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്ത മകന് ഇവന് തന്നേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. And it cometh to pass, he is recounting to the king how he had revived the dead, and lo, the woman whose son he had revived is crying unto the king, for her house and for her field, and Gehazi saith, 'My lord, O king, this [is] the woman, and this her son, whom Elisha revived.'

6. രാജാവു സ്ത്രീയോടു ചോദിച്ചപ്പോള് അവളും അതു വിവരിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു രാജാവു ഒരു ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥനെ നിയമിച്ചുഅവള്ക്കുണ്ടായിരുന്നതൊക്കെയും അവള് ദേശം വിട്ടുപോയ നാള്മുതല് ഇതുവരെയുള്ള നിലത്തിന്റെ ആദായവും അവള്ക്കു കൊടുപ്പിക്കേണം എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

6. And the king asketh at the woman, and she recounteth to him, and the king appointeth to her a certain eunuch, saying, 'Give back all that she hath, and all the increase of the field from the day of her leaving the land even till now.'

7. അനന്തരം എലീശാ ദമ്മേശെക്കില് ചെന്നു; അന്നു അരാംരാജാവായ ബെന് -ഹദദ് ദീനംപിടിച്ചു കിടക്കുകയായിരുന്നു; ദൈവപുരുഷന് വന്നിട്ടുണ്ടു എന്നു അവന്നു അറിവു കിട്ടി.

7. And Elisha cometh in to Damascus, and Ben-Hadad king of Aram is sick, and it is declared to him, saying, 'The man of God hath come hither.'

8. രാജാവു ഹസായേലിനോടുഒരു സമ്മാനം എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടു ദൈവപുരുഷനെ ചെന്നുകണ്ടുഈ ദീനം മാറി എനിക്കു സൌഖ്യം വരുമോ എന്നു അവന് മുഖാന്തരം യഹോവയോടു ചോദിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

8. And the king saith unto Hazael, 'Take in thy hand a present, and go to meet the man of God, and thou hast sought Jehovah by him, saying, Do I revive from this sickness?'

9. അങ്ങനെ ഹസായേല് ദമ്മേശെക്കിലെ വിശേഷവസ്തുക്കളില്നിന്നൊക്കെയും എടുത്തു നാല്പതു ഒട്ടകച്ചുമടുമായി അവനെ ചെന്നുകണ്ടു അവന്റെ മുമ്പില് നിന്നുനിന്റെ മകന് അരാം രാജാവായ ബെന് -ഹദദ് എന്നെ നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ചുഈ ദീനം മാറി എനിക്കു സൌഖ്യം വരുമോ എന്നു ചോദിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു എലീശാ;

9. And Hazael goeth to meet him, and taketh a present in his hand, even of every good thing of Damascus, a burden of forty camels, and he cometh in and standeth before him, and saith, 'Thy son Ben-Hadad, king of Aram, hath sent me unto thee, saying, Do I revive from this sickness?'

10. നീ ചെന്നു അവനോടുനിനക്കു നിശ്ചയമായിട്ടു സൌഖ്യം വരും എന്നു പറക; എന്നാല് അവന് നിശ്ചയമായി മരിച്ചുപോകുമെന്നു യഹോവ എനിക്കു വെളിപ്പെടുത്തിത്തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

10. And Elisha saith unto him, 'Go, say, Thou dost certainly not revive, seeing Jehovah hath shewed me that he doth surely die.'

11. പിന്നെ അവന്നു ലജ്ജ തോന്നുവോളം അവന് കണ്ണുപറിക്കാതെ അവനെ ഉറ്റുനോക്കി ദൈവപുരുഷന് കരഞ്ഞു.

11. And he setteth his face, yea, he setteth [it] till he is ashamed, and the man of God weepeth.

12. യജമാനന് കരയുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ഹസായേല് ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു അവന് നീ യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളോടു ചെയ്വാനിരിക്കുന്ന ദോഷം ഞാന് അറിയുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു തന്നേ; നീ അവരുടെ ദുര്ഗ്ഗങ്ങളെ തീയിട്ടു ചുടുകയും അവരുടെ യൌവനക്കാരെ വാള്കൊണ്ടു കൊല്ലുകയും അവരുടെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെ അടിച്ചു തകര്ക്കയും അവരുടെ ഗര്ഭിണികളെ പിളര്ക്കയും ചെയ്യും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

12. And Hazael saith, 'Wherefore is my lord weeping?' and he saith, 'Because I have known the evil that thou dost to the sons of Israel -- their fenced places thou dost send into fire, and their young men with sword thou dost slay, and their sucklings thou dost dash to pieces, and their pregnant women thou dost rip up.'

13. ഈ മഹാകാര്യം ചെയ്വാന് നായായിരിക്കുന്ന അടിയന് എന്തു മാത്രമുള്ളു എന്നു ഹസായേല് പറഞ്ഞതിന്നു എലീശാനീ അരാമില് രാജാവാകും എന്നു യഹോവ എനിക്കു വെളിപ്പെടുത്തിത്തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13. And Hazael saith, 'But what, [is] thy servant the dog, that he doth this great thing?' And Elisha saith, 'Jehovah hath shewed me thee -- king of Aram.'

14. അവന് എലീശയെ വിട്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടു തന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നപ്പോള്എലീശാ നിന്നോടു എന്തു പറഞ്ഞു എന്നു അവന് ചോദിച്ചു. നിനക്കു നിശ്ചയമായി സൌഖ്യം വരും എന്നു അവന് എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞു എന്നു അവന് ഉത്തരംപറഞ്ഞു.

14. And he goeth from Elisha, and cometh in unto his lord, and he saith unto him, 'What said Elisha to thee?' and he saith, 'He said to me, Thou dost certainly recover.'

15. പിറ്റെന്നാള് അവന് ഒരു കമ്പിളി എടുത്തു വെള്ളത്തില് മുക്കി അവന്റെ മുഖത്തിട്ടു; അതിനാല് അവന് മരിച്ചുപോയി; ഹസായേല് അവന്നുപകരം രാജാവായ്തീര്ന്നു.

15. And it cometh to pass on the morrow, that he taketh the coarse cloth, and dippeth in water, and spreadeth on his face, and he dieth, and Hazael reigneth in his stead.

16. യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ ആഹാബിന്റെ മകനായ യോരാമിന്റെ അഞ്ചാം ആണ്ടില് യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യെഹൂദയില് രാജാവായിരിക്കുമ്പോള് തന്നേ യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ മകന് യെഹോരാം രാജാവായി.

16. And in the fifth year of Joram son of Ahab king of Israel -- and Jehoshaphat [is] king of Judah -- hath Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah reigned;

17. അവന് വാഴ്ചതുടങ്ങിയപ്പോള് അവന്നു മുപ്പത്തിരണ്ടു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു; അവന് എട്ടു സംവത്സരം യെരൂശലേമില് വാണു.

17. a son of thirty and two years was he in his reigning, and eight years he hath reigned in Jerusalem.

18. ആഹാബിന്റെ മകള് അവന്നു ഭാര്യയായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവന് ആഹാബിന്റെ ഗൃഹം ചെയ്തതുപോലെ യിസ്രായേല്രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വഴിയില് നടന്നു യഹോവേക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു.

18. And he walketh in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab, for a daughter of Ahab was to him for a wife, and he doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah,

19. എങ്കിലും യഹോവ തന്റെ ദാസനായ ദാവീദിനോടു അവന്നും അവന്റെ മക്കള്ക്കും എന്നേക്കും ഒരു ദീപം നലകും എന്നു വാഗ്ദാനം ചെയ്തിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ നിമിത്തം യെഹൂദയെ നശിപ്പിപ്പാന് തനിക്കു മനസ്സായില്ല.

19. and Jehovah was not willing to destroy Judah, for the sake of David his servant, as He said to him, to give to him a lamp -- to his sons all the days.

20. അവന്റെ കാലത്തു എദോമ്യര് യെഹൂദയുടെ മേലധികാരത്തോടു മത്സരിച്ചു തങ്ങള്ക്കു ഒരു രാജാവിനെ വാഴിച്ചു.

20. In his days hath Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and they cause a king to reign over them,

21. അപ്പോള് യെഹോരാം സകലരഥങ്ങളുമായി സായിരിലേക്കു ചെന്നു; എന്നാല് രാത്രിയില് അവന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു തന്നെ വളഞ്ഞിരുന്ന എദോമ്യരെയും രഥനായകന്മാരെയും തോല്പിച്ചു; ജനം തങ്ങളുടെ കൂടാരങ്ങളിലേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോയി.

21. and Joram passeth over to Zair, and all the chariots with him, and he himself hath risen by night, and smiteth Edom, that is coming round about unto him, and the heads of the chariots, and the people fleeth to its tents;

22. അങ്ങിനെ എദോമ്യര് യെഹൂദയുടെ മേലധികാരത്തോടു ഇന്നുവരെ മത്സരിച്ചുനിലക്കുന്നു; ആ കാലത്തു തന്നേ ലിബ്നയും മത്സരിച്ചു.

22. and Edom revolteth from under the hand of Judah till this day; then doth Libnah revolt at that time.

23. യെഹോരാമിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും അവന് ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും യെഹൂദാ രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

23. And the rest of the matters of Joram, and all that he did, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Judah?

24. യെഹോരാം തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു അവന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടുകൂടെ ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തില് അവനെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ മകനായ അഹസ്യാവു അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.

24. And Joram lieth with his fathers, and is buried with his fathers in the city of David, and reign doth Ahaziah his son in his stead.

25. യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ ആഹാബിന്റെ മകന് യോരാമിന്റെ പന്ത്രണ്ടാം ആണ്ടില് യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോരാമിന്റെ മകന് അഹസ്യാവു രാജാവായി.

25. In the twelfth year of Joram son of Ahab king of Israel reigned hath Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah;

26. അഹസ്യാവു വാഴ്ച തുടങ്ങിയപ്പോള് അവന്നു ഇരുപത്തിരണ്ടു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു; അവന് ഒരു സംവത്സരം യെരൂശലേമില് വാണു. അവന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു അഥല്യാ എന്നു പേര്; അവള് യിസ്രായേല്രാജാവായ ഒമ്രിയുടെ പൌത്രി ആയിരുന്നു.

26. a son of twenty and two years [is] Ahaziah in his reigning, and one year he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother [is] Athaliah daughter of Omri king of Israel,

27. അവന് ആഹാബ്ഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ വഴിയില് നടന്നു ആഹാബ്ഗൃഹം ചെയ്തതുപോലെ യഹോവേക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു; അവന് ആഹാബിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തോടു സംബന്ധമുള്ളവന് ആയിരുന്നുവല്ലോ.

27. and he walketh in the way of the house of Ahab, and doth the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, like the house of Ahab, for he [is] son-in-law of the house of Ahab.

28. അവന് ആഹാബിന്റെ മകനായ യോരാമിനോടുകൂടെ ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിലേക്കു അരാംരാജാവായ ഹസായേലിനോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്വാന് പോയി; എന്നാല് അരാമ്യര് യോരാമിനെ മുറിവേല്പിച്ചു.

28. And he goeth with Joram son of Ahab to battle with Hazael king of Aram in Ramoth-Gilead, and the Aramaeans smite Joram,

29. അരാംരാജാവായ ഹസായേലിനോടുള്ള യുദ്ധത്തില് രാമയില്വെച്ചു അരാമ്യര് തന്നെ വെട്ടിയ മുറിവുകള്ക്കു യിസ്രെയേലില്വെച്ചു ചികിത്സചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നു യോരാംരാജാവു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി; ആഹാബിന്റെ മകനായ യോരാം രോഗിയാകകൊണ്ടു യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോരാമിന്റെ മകന് അഹസ്യാവു യിസ്രെയേലില് അവനെ കാണ്മാന് ചെന്നിരുന്നു.

29. and Joram the king turneth back to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds with which the Arameans smite him in Ramah, in his fighting with Hazael king of Aram, and Ahaziah son of Jehoram king of Judah hath gone down to see Joram son of Ahab in Jezreel, for he is sick.
