1. ഇപ്പോഴോ എന്നിലും പ്രായം കുറഞ്ഞവര് എന്നെ നോക്കി ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ അപ്പന്മാരെ എന്റെ ആട്ടിന് കൂട്ടത്തിന്റെ നായ്ക്കളോടുകൂടെ ആക്കുവാന് പോലും ഞാന് നിരസിക്കുമായിരുന്നു.

1. But now they that are mine inferiors and younger than I, have me in derision: yea even they, whose fathers I would have thought scorn to have set with the dogs of my cattle.

2. അവരുടെ കയ്യൂറ്റംകൊണ്ടു എനിക്കെന്തു പ്രയോജനം? അവരുടെ യൌവനശക്തി നശിച്ചുപോയല്ലോ.

2. The power and strength of their hands might do me no good, and as for their age, it is spent and past away without any profit.

3. ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടും വിശപ്പുംകൊണ്ടു അവര് മെലിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; ശൂന്യത്തിന്റെയും നിര്ജ്ജനദേശത്തിന്റെയും ഇരുട്ടില് അവര് വരണ്ട നിലം കടിച്ചുകാരുന്നു.

3. For very misery and hunger, they went about in the wilderness like wretches and beggars,

4. അവര് കുറുങ്കാട്ടില് മണല്ചീര പറിക്കുന്നു; കാട്ടുകിഴങ്ങു അവര്ക്കും ആഹാരമായിരിക്കുന്നു.

4. plucking up herbs from among the bushes, and the Junipers root was their meat.

5. ജനമദ്ധ്യേനിന്നു അവരെ ഔടിച്ചുകളയുന്നു; കള്ളനെപ്പോലെ അവരെ ആട്ടിക്കളയുന്നു.

5. And when they were driven forth, men cried after them, as it had been after a thief.

6. താഴ്വരപ്പിളര്പ്പുകളില് അവര് പാര്ക്കേണ്ടിവരുന്നു; മണ്കുഴികളിലും പാറയുടെ ഗഹ്വരങ്ങളിലും തന്നേ.

6. Their dwelling was beside foul brooks, yea in the caves and dens of the earth.

7. കുറുങ്കാട്ടില് അവര് കതറുന്നു; തൂവയുടെ കീഴെ അവര് ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടുന്നു.

7. Upon the dry heath went they about crying, and in the broom hills they gathered them together.

8. അവര് ഭോഷന്മാരുടെ മക്കള്, നീചന്മാരുടെ മക്കള്; അവരെ ദേശത്തുനിന്നു ചമ്മട്ടികൊണ്ടു അടിച്ചോടിക്കുന്നു.

8. They were children of fools and villains, which are dead away from the world.

9. ഇപ്പോഴോ ഞാന് അവരുടെ പാട്ടായിരിക്കുന്നു; അവര്ക്കും പഴഞ്ചൊല്ലായിത്തീര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

9. Now am I their song, and am become their jesting stock:

10. അവര് എന്നെ അറെച്ചു അകന്നുനിലക്കുന്നു; എന്നെ കണ്ടു തുപ്പുവാന് ശങ്കിക്കുന്നില്ല.

10. they abhor me, they flee far from me, and stain my face with spittle,

11. അവന് തന്റെ കയറു അഴിച്ചു എന്നെ ക്ളേശിപ്പിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അവര് എന്റെ മുമ്പില് കടിഞ്ഞാണ് അയച്ചു വിട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

11. for the Lord(LORDE) hath opened his quiver, he hath hit me and put a bridle in my mouth.

12. വലത്തുഭാഗത്തു നീചപരിഷ എഴുന്നേറ്റു എന്റെ കാല് ഉന്തുന്നു; അവര് നാശമാര്ഗ്ഗങ്ങളെ എന്റെ നേരെ നിരത്തുന്നു.

12. Upon my right hand they rose together against me, they have hurt my feet, made a way to destroy me,

13. അവര് എന്റെ പാതയെ നശിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; അവര് തന്നേ തുണയറ്റവര് ആയിരിക്കെ എന്റെ അപായത്തിന്നായി ശ്രമിക്കുന്നു.

13. and my path have they clean marred. It was so easy for them to do me harm, that they needed no man to help them.

14. വിസ്താരമുള്ള തുറവില്കൂടി എന്നപോലെ അവര് ആക്രമിച്ചുവരുന്നു; ഇടിവിന്റെ നടുവില് അവര് എന്റെ മേല് ഉരുണ്ടുകയറുന്നു.

14. They fell upon me, as it had been the breaking in of waters, and came in by heaps to destroy me.

15. ഘോരത്വങ്ങള് എന്റെ നേരെ തിരിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; കാറ്റുപോലെ എന്റെ മഹത്വത്തെ പാറ്റിക്കളയുന്നു; എന്റെ ക്ഷേമവും മേഘംപോലെ കടന്നു പോകുന്നു.

15. Fearfulness is turned against me. Mine honour vanisheth away more swiftly than wind, and my prosperity departeth hence like as it were a cloud.

16. ഇപ്പോള് എന്റെ പ്രാണന് എന്റെ ഉള്ളില് തൂകിപ്പോകുന്നു; കഷ്ടകാലം എന്നെ പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

16. Therefore is my mind poured full of heaviness, and the days of trouble have taken hold upon me.

17. രാത്രി എന്റെ അസ്ഥികളെ തുളച്ചെടുത്തുകളയുന്നു; എന്നെ കടിച്ചുകാരുന്നവര് ഉറങ്ങുന്നതുമില്ല.

17. My bones are pierced thorow in the night season, and my sinews take no rest.

18. ഉഗ്രബലത്താല് എന്റെ വസ്ത്രം വിരൂപമായിരിക്കുന്നു; അങ്കിയുടെ കഴുത്തുപോലെ എന്നോടു പറ്റിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

18. With all their power have they changed my garment, and girded me therewith, as it were with a coat.

19. അവന് എന്നെ ചെളിയില് ഇട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാന് പൊടിക്കും ചാരത്തിന്നും തുല്യമായിരിക്കുന്നു.

19. I am even as it were clay, and am become like ashes and dust.

20. ഞാന് നിന്നോടു നിലവിളിക്കുന്നു; നീ ഉത്തരം അരുളുന്നില്ല; ഞാന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു നിലക്കുന്നു; നീ എന്നെ തുറിച്ചുനോക്കുന്നതേയുള്ളു.

20. When I cry unto thee, thou doest not hear me: and though I stand before thee, yet thou regardest me not.

21. നീ എന്റെ നേരെ ക്രൂരനായിത്തീര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ കയ്യുടെ ശക്തിയാല് നീ എന്നെ പീഡിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

21. Thou art become mine enemy, and with thy violent hand thou takest part against me.

22. നീ എന്നെ കാറ്റിന് പുറത്തു കയറ്റി ഔടിക്കുന്നു; കൊടുങ്കാറ്റില് നീ എന്നെ ലയിപ്പിച്ചുകളയുന്നു.

22. In times past thou didst set me up on high,(an hye) as it were above the wind, but now hast thou given me a very sore fall.

23. മരണത്തിലേക്കും സകലജീവികളും ചെന്നു ചേരുന്ന വീട്ടിലേക്കും നീ എന്നെ കൊണ്ടുപോകുമെന്നു ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു.

23. Sure I am, that thou wilt deliver me unto death: whereas a lodging is prepared for all men living.

24. എങ്കിലും വീഴുമ്പോള് കൈ നീട്ടുകയില്ലയോ? അപായത്തില് അതു നിമിത്തം നിലവിളിക്കയില്ലയോ?

24. Now use not me to do violence unto them, that are destroyed already: but where hurt is done, there use they to help.

25. കഷ്ടകാലം വന്നവന്നു വേണ്ടി ഞാന് കരഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ലയോ? എളിയവന്നു വേണ്ടി എന്റെ മനസ്സു വ്യസനിച്ചിട്ടില്ലയോ?

25. Did not I weep in the time of trouble? Had not my soul compassion upon the poor?

26. ഞാന് നന്മെക്കു നോക്കിയിരുന്നപ്പോള് തിന്മവന്നു വെളിച്ചത്തിന്നായി കാത്തിരുന്നപ്പോള് ഇരുട്ടുവന്നു.

26. Yet nevertheless where as I looked for good, evil happened unto me: and where as I waited for light, there came darkness.

27. എന്റെ കുടല് അമരാതെ തിളെക്കുന്നു; കഷ്ടകാലം എനിക്കു വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

27. My bowels seeth within me, and take no rest, for the days of my trouble are come upon me.

28. ഞാന് കറുത്തവനായി നടക്കുന്നു; വെയില് കൊണ്ടല്ലതാനും. ഞാന് സഭയില് എഴുന്നേറ്റു നിലവിളിക്കുന്നു.

28. Meekly and lowly came I in, yea and without any displeasure: I stood up in the congregation, and communed with them.

29. ഞാന് കുറുക്കന്മാര്ക്കും സഹോദരനും ഒട്ടകപ്പക്ഷികള്ക്കു കൂട്ടാളിയും ആയിരിക്കുന്നു.

29. But now I am a companion of dragons, and a fellow of Ostriches.

30. എന്റെ ത്വക് കറുത്തു പൊളിഞ്ഞുവീഴുന്നു; എന്റെ അസ്ഥി ഉഷ്ണംകൊണ്ടു കരിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

30. My skin upon me is turned to black, and my bones are brent with heat:

31. എന്റെ കിന്നരനാദം വിലാപമായും എന്റെ കുഴലൂത്തു കരച്ചലായും തീര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

31. my harp is turned to sorrow, and my pipe to weeping.
