1. അതിന്നു തേമാന്യനായ എലീഫസ് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്

1. Job, will you be annoyed if I speak? I can't keep quiet any longer.

2. നിന്നോടു സംസാരിപ്പാന് തുനിഞ്ഞാല് നീ മുഷിയുമോ? എന്നാല് വാക്കടക്കുവാന് ആര്ക്കും കഴിയും?

3. നീ പലരേയും ഉപദേശിച്ചു തളര്ന്ന കൈകളെ ശക്തീകരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

3. You have taught many people and given strength to feeble hands.

4. വീഴുന്നവനെ നിന്റെ വാക്കു താങ്ങി കുഴയുന്ന മുഴങ്കാല് നീ ഉറപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

4. When someone stumbled, weak and tired, your words encouraged him to stand.

5. ഇപ്പോള് നിനക്കതു ഭവിച്ചിട്ടു നീ വിഷാദിക്കുന്നു; നിനക്കതു തട്ടീട്ടു നീ ഭ്രമിച്ചുപോകുന്നു.

5. Now it's your turn to be in trouble, and you are too stunned to face it.

6. നിന്റെ ഭക്തി നിന്റെ ആശ്രയമല്ലയോ? നിന്റെ നടപ്പിന്റെ നിര്മ്മലത നിന്റെ പ്രത്യാശയല്ലയോ?

6. You worshiped God, and your life was blameless; and so you should have confidence and hope.

7. ഔര്ത്തു നോക്കുകനിര്ദ്ദോഷിയായി നശിച്ചവന് ആര്? നേരുള്ളവര് എവിടെ മുടിഞ്ഞുപോയിട്ടുള്ളു?

7. Think back now. Name a single case where someone righteous met with disaster.

8. ഞാന് കണ്ടേടത്തോളം അന്യായം ഉഴുതു കഷ്ടത വിതെക്കുന്നവര് അതു തന്നേ കൊയ്യുന്നു.

8. I have seen people plow fields of evil and plant wickedness like seed; now they harvest wickedness and evil.

9. ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ശ്വാസത്താല് അവര് നശിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ കോപത്തിന്റെ ഊത്തിനാല് മുടിഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നു.

9. Like a storm, God destroys them in his anger.

10. സിംഹത്തിന്റെ ഗര്ജ്ജനവും കേസരിയുടെ നാദവും ബാലസിംഹങ്ങളുടെ ദന്തങ്ങളും അറ്റുപോയി.

10. The wicked roar and growl like lions, but God silences them and breaks their teeth.

11. സിംഹം ഇരയില്ലായ്കയാല് നശിക്കുന്നു; സിംഹിയുടെ കുട്ടികള് ചിതറിപ്പോകുന്നു;

11. Like lions with nothing to kill and eat, they die, and all their children are scattered.

12. എന്റെ അടുക്കല് ഒരു ഗൂഢവചനം എത്തി; അതിന്റെ മന്ദസ്വരം എന്റെ ചെവിയില് കടന്നു.

12. Once a message came quietly, so quietly I could hardly hear it.

13. മനുഷ്യര്ക്കും ഗാഢനിദ്ര പിടിക്കുന്നേരം രാത്രിദര്ശനങ്ങളാലുള്ള മനോഭാവനകളില് ഭയവും നടുക്കവും എന്നെ പിടിച്ചു.

13. Like a nightmare it disturbed my sleep.

14. എന്റെ അസ്ഥികള് ഒക്കെയും കുലുങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

14. I trembled and shuddered; my whole body shook with fear.

15. ഒരാത്മാവു എന്റെ മുഖത്തിന്നെതിരെ കടന്നു എന്റെ ദേഹത്തിന്നു രോമഹര്ഷം ഭവിച്ചു.

15. A light breeze touched my face, and my skin crawled with fright.

16. ഒരു പ്രതിമ എന്റെ കണ്ണിന്നെതിരെ നിന്നു; എങ്കിലും അതിന്റെ രൂപം ഞാന് തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞില്ല; മന്ദമായോരു സ്വരം ഞാന് കേട്ടതെന്തെന്നാല്

16. I could see something standing there; I stared, but couldn't tell what it was. Then I heard a voice out of the silence:

17. മര്ത്യന് ദൈവത്തിലും നീതിമാന് ആകുമോ? നരന് സ്രഷ്ടാവിലും നിര്മ്മലനാകുമോ?

17. 'Can anyone be righteous in the sight of God or be pure before his Creator?

18. ഇതാ, സ്വദാസന്മാരിലും അവന്നു വിശ്വാസമില്ല; തന്റെ ദൂതന്മാരിലും അവന് കുറ്റം ആരോപിക്കുന്നു.

18. God does not trust his heavenly servants; he finds fault even with his angels.

19. പൊടിയില്നിന്നുത്ഭവിച്ചു മണ്പുരകളില് പാര്ത്തു പുഴുപോലെ ചതെഞ്ഞു പോകുന്നവരില് എത്ര അധികം!

19. Do you think he will trust a creature of clay, a thing of dust that can be crushed like a moth?

20. ഉഷസ്സിന്നും സന്ധ്യെക്കും മദ്ധ്യേ അവര് തകര്ന്നു പോകുന്നു; ആരും ഗണ്യമാക്കാതെ അവര് എന്നേക്കും നശിക്കുന്നു.

20. We may be alive in the morning, but die unnoticed before evening comes.

21. അവരുടെ കൂടാരക്കയറു അറ്റുപോയിട്ടു അവര് ജ്ഞാനഹീനരായി മരിക്കുന്നില്ലയോ?

21. All that we have is taken away; we die, still lacking wisdom.'
