1. ദൈവമേ, നിന്റെ ദയെക്കു തക്കവണ്ണം എന്നോടു കൃപയുണ്ടാകേണമേ; നിന്റെ കരുണയുടെ ബഹുത്വപ്രകാരം എന്റെ ലംഘനങ്ങളെ മായിച്ചുകളയേണമേ.

1. To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David; when Nathan the prophet came to him after he had sinned with Bathsheba. HAVE MERCY upon me, O God, according to Your steadfast love; according to the multitude of Your tender mercy and loving-kindness blot out my transgressions.

2. Wash me thoroughly [and repeatedly] from my iniquity and guilt and cleanse me and make me wholly pure from my sin!

3. എന്റെ ലംഘനങ്ങളെ ഞാന് അറിയുന്നു; എന്റെ പാപം എപ്പോഴും എന്റെ മുമ്പില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

3. For I am conscious of my transgressions and I acknowledge them; my sin is ever before me.

4. നിന്നോടു തന്നേ ഞാന് പാപം ചെയ്തു; നിനക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ഞാന് ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു. സംസാരിക്കുമ്പോള് നീ നീതിമാനായും വിധിക്കുമ്പോള് നിര്മ്മലനായും ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നേ.

4. Against You, You only, have I sinned and done that which is evil in Your sight, so that You are justified in Your sentence and faultless in Your judgment. [Rom. 3:4.]

5. Behold, I was brought forth in [a state of] iniquity; my mother was sinful who conceived me [and I too am sinful]. [John 3:6; Rom. 5:12; Eph. 2:3.]

6. അന്തര്ഭാഗത്തിലെ സത്യമല്ലോ നീ ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നതു; അന്തരംഗത്തില് എന്നെ ജ്ഞാനം ഗ്രഹിപ്പിക്കേണമേ.

6. Behold, You desire truth in the inner being; make me therefore to know wisdom in my inmost heart.

7. ഞാന് നിര്മ്മലനാകേണ്ടതിന്നു ഈസോപ്പുകൊണ്ടു എന്നെ ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കേണമേ; ഞാന് ഹിമത്തെക്കാള് വെളുക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്നെ കഴുകേണമേ.

7. Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean [ceremonially]; wash me, and I shall [in reality] be whiter than snow.

8. സന്തോഷവും ആനന്ദവും എന്നെ കേള്ക്കുമാറാക്കേണമേ; നീ ഒടിച്ച അസ്ഥികള് ഉല്ലസിക്കട്ടെ.

8. Make me to hear joy and gladness and be satisfied; let the bones which You have broken rejoice.

9. എന്റെ പാപങ്ങളെ കാണാതവണ്ണം നിന്റെ മുഖം മറെക്കേണമേ. എന്റെ അകൃത്യങ്ങളെ ഒക്കെയും മായിച്ചു കളയേണമേ.

9. Hide Your face from my sins and blot out all my guilt and iniquities.

10. ദൈവമേ, നിര്മ്മലമായോരു ഹൃദയം എന്നില് സൃഷ്ടിച്ചു സ്ഥിരമായോരാത്മാവിനെ എന്നില് പുതുക്കേണമേ.

10. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right, persevering, and steadfast spirit within me.

11. നിന്റെ സന്നിധിയില്നിന്നു എന്നെ തള്ളിക്കളയരുതേ; നിന്റെ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിനെ എന്നില്നിന്നു എടുക്കയുമരുതേ.

11. Cast me not away from Your presence and take not Your Holy Spirit from me.

12. നിന്റെ രക്ഷയുടെ സന്തോഷം എനിക്കു തിരികെ തരേണമേ; മനസ്സൊരുക്കമുള്ള ആത്മാവിനാല് എന്നെ താങ്ങേണമേ.

12. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and uphold me with a willing spirit.

13. അപ്പോള് ഞാന് അതിക്രമക്കാരോടു നിന്റെ വഴികളെ ഉപദേശിക്കും; പാപികള് നിങ്കലേക്കു മനംതിരിയും.

13. Then will I teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners shall be converted and return to You.

14. എന്റെ രക്ഷയുടെ ദൈവമായ ദൈവമേ, രക്തപാതകത്തില്നിന്നു എന്നെ വിടുവിക്കേണമേ; എന്നാല് എന്റെ നാവു നിന്റെ നീതിയെ ഘോഷിക്കും.

14. Deliver me from bloodguiltiness and death, O God, the God of my salvation, and my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness (Your rightness and Your justice).

15. കര്ത്താവേ, എന്റെ അധരങ്ങളെ തുറക്കേണമേ; എന്നാല് എന്റെ വായ് നിന്റെ സ്തുതിയെ വര്ണ്ണിക്കും.

15. O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth shall show forth Your praise.

16. ഹനനയാഗം നീ ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നില്ല; അല്ലെങ്കില് ഞാന് അര്പ്പിക്കുമായിരുന്നു; ഹോമയാഗത്തില് നിനക്കു പ്രസാദവുമില്ല.

16. For You delight not in sacrifice, or else would I give it; You find no pleasure in burnt offering. [I Sam. 15:22.]

17. ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ഹനനയാഗങ്ങള് തകര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്ന മനസ്സു; തകര്ന്നും നുറുങ്ങിയുമിരിക്കുന്ന ഹൃദയത്തെ, ദൈവമേ, നീ നിരസിക്കയില്ല.

17. My sacrifice [the sacrifice acceptable] to God is a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart [broken down with sorrow for sin and humbly and thoroughly penitent], such, O God, You will not despise.

18. നിന്റെ പ്രസാദപ്രകാരം സീയോനോടു നന്മ ചെയ്യേണമേ; യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ മതിലുകളെ പണിയേണമേ;

18. Do good in Your good pleasure to Zion; rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.

19. അപ്പോള് നീ നീതിയാഗങ്ങളിലും ഹോമയാഗങ്ങളിലും സര്വ്വാംഗഹോമങ്ങളിലും പ്രസാദിക്കും; അപ്പോള് നിന്റെ യാഗപീഠത്തിന്മേല് കാളകളെ അര്പ്പിക്കും. (സംഗീതപ്രമാണിക്കു; ദാവീദിന്റെ ഒരു ധ്യാനം. എദോമ്യനായ ദോവേഗ് ചെന്നു ശൌലിനോടുദാവീദ് അഹീമേലെക്കിന്റെ വീട്ടില് വന്നിരുന്നു എന്നറിയിച്ചപ്പോള് ചമെച്ചതു.)

19. Then will You delight in the sacrifices of righteousness, justice, and right, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering; then bullocks will be offered upon Your altar.
