1. യഹോവ പിന്നെയും മോശെയോടു

1. ADONAI said to Moshe,

2. യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളുടെ ഇടയില് മനുഷ്യരിലും മൃഗങ്ങളിലും കടിഞ്ഞൂലായി പിറക്കുന്നതിന്നെ ഒക്കെയും എനിക്കായി ശുദ്ധീകരിക്ക; അതു എനിക്കുള്ളതാകുന്നു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു;

2. 'Set aside for me all the firstborn. Whatever is first from the womb among the people of Isra'el, both of humans and of animals, belongs to me.'

3. അപ്പോള് മോശെ ജനത്തോടു പറഞ്ഞതുനിങ്ങള് അടിമവീടായ മിസ്രയീമില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോന്ന ഈ ദിവസത്തെ ഔര്ത്തു കൊള്വിന് ; യഹോവ ബലമുള്ള കൈകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങളെ അവിടെനിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു; അതുകൊണ്ടു പുളിപ്പുള്ള അപ്പം തിന്നരുതു.

3. Moshe said to the people, 'Remember this day, on which you left Egypt, the abode of slavery; because ADONAI, by the strength of his hand, has brought you out of this place. Do not eat [hametz.]

4. ആബീബ് മാസം ഈ തിയ്യതി നിങ്ങള് പുറപ്പെട്ടു പോന്നു.

4. You are leaving today, in the month of Aviv.

5. എന്നാല് കനാന്യര്, ഹിത്യര്, അമോര്യ്യര്, ഹിവ്യര്, യെബൂസ്യര് എന്നിവരുടെ ദേശമായി യഹോവ നിനക്കു തരുമെന്നു നിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു സത്യം ചെയ്തതും പാലും തേനും ഒഴുകുന്നതുമായ ദേശത്തേക്കു നിന്നെ കൊണ്ടുചെന്നശേഷം നീ ഈ മാസത്തില് ഈ കര്മ്മം ആചരിക്കേണം.

5. When ADONAI brings you into the land of the Kena'ani, Hitti, Emori, Hivi and Y'vusi, which he swore to your ancestors to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey, you are to observe this ceremony in this month.

6. ഏഴു ദിവസം നീ പുളിപ്പില്ലാത്ത അപ്പം തിന്നേണം; ഏഴാം ദിവസം യഹോവേക്കു ഒരു ഉത്സവം ആയിരിക്കേണം.

6. For seven days you are to eat [matzah], and the seventh day is to be a festival for [ADONAI.]

7. ഏഴു ദിവസവും പുളിപ്പില്ലാത്ത അപ്പം തിന്നേണം; നിന്റെ പക്കല് പുളിപ്പുള്ള അപ്പം കാണരുതു; നിന്റെ അരികത്തെങ്ങും പുളിച്ചമാവും കാണരുതു.

7. [Matzah] is to be eaten throughout the seven days; neither [hametz] nor leavening agents are to be seen with you throughout your territory.

8. ഞാന് മിസ്രയീമില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുമ്പോള് യഹോവ എനിക്കുവേണ്ടി ചെയ്ത കാര്യം നിമിത്തം ആകുന്നു ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യുന്നതു എന്നു നീ ആ ദിവസത്തില് നിന്റെ മകനോടു അറിയിക്കേണം.

8. On that day you are to tell your son, 'It is because of what ADONAI did for me when I left Egypt.'

9. യഹോവയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണം നിന്റെ വായില് ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഇതു നിനക്കു നിന്റെ കയ്യിന്മേല് അടയാളമായും നിന്റെ കണ്ണുകളുടെ നടുവില് ജ്ഞാപകലക്ഷ്യമായും ഇരിക്കെണം. ബലമുള്ള കൈകൊണ്ടല്ലോ യഹോവ നിന്നെ മിസ്രയീമില് നിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചതു.

9. 'Moreover, it will serve you as a sign on your hand and as a reminder between your eyes, so that ADONAI's [Torah] may be on your lips; because with a strong hand ADONAI brought you out of Egypt.

10. അതു കൊണ്ടു നീ ആണ്ടുതോറും നിശ്ചയിക്കപ്പെട്ട സമയത്തു ഈ ചട്ടം ആചരിക്കേണം.

10. Therefore you are to observe this regulation at its proper time, year after year.

11. യഹോവ നിന്നോടും നിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടും സത്യം ചെയ്തതുപോലെ നിന്നെ കനാന്യരുടെ ദേശത്തു കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു അതു നിനക്കു തരുമ്പോള്

11. When ADONAI brings you into the land of the Kena'ani, as he swore to you and your ancestors, and gives it to you,

12. കടിഞ്ഞൂലിനെ ഒക്കെയും, നിനക്കുള്ള മൃഗങ്ങളുടെ കടിഞ്ഞൂല്പിറവിയെ ഒക്കെയും നീ യഹോവെക്കായി വേര്തിരിക്കേണം; ആണൊക്കെയും യഹോവകൂള്ളതാകുന്നു.

12. you are to set apart for ADONAI everything that is first from the womb. Every firstborn male animal will belong to ADONAI.

13. എന്നാല് കഴുതയുടെ കടിഞ്ഞൂലിനെ ഒക്കെയും ആട്ടിന് കുട്ടിയെക്കൊണ്ടു വീണ്ടുകൊള്ളേണം; അതിനെ വീണ്ടുകൊള്ളുന്നില്ലെങ്കില് അതിന്റെ കഴുത്തു ഒടിച്ചുകളയേണം. നിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരില് ആദ്യജാതനെ ഒക്കെയും നീ വീണ്ടുകൊള്ളേണം.

13. Every firstborn from a donkey, you are to redeem with a lamb; but if you choose not to redeem it, you must break its neck. But from people, you are to redeem every firstborn son.

14. എന്നാല് ഇതു എന്തു എന്നു നാളെ നിന്റെ മകന് നിന്നോടു ചോദിക്കുമ്പോള്യഹോവ ബലമുള്ള കൈകൊണ്ടു അടിമവീടായ മിസ്രയീമില്നിന്നു ഞങ്ങളെ പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു;

14. When, at some future time, your son asks you, 'What is this?' then say to him, 'With a strong hand ADONAI brought us out of Egypt, out of the abode of slavery.

15. ഫറവോന് കഠിനപ്പെട്ടു ഞങ്ങളെ വിട്ടയക്കാതിരുന്നപ്പോള് യഹോവ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തു മനുഷ്യന്റെ കടിഞ്ഞൂല്മുതല് മൃഗത്തിന്റെ കടിഞ്ഞൂല്വരെയുള്ള കടിഞ്ഞൂല്പിറവിയെ ഒക്കെയും കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു. അതുകൊണ്ടു കടിഞ്ഞൂലായ ആണിനെ ഒക്കെയും ഞാന് യഹോവേക്കു യാഗം അര്പ്പിക്കുന്നു; എന്നാല് എന്റെ മക്കളില് കടിഞ്ഞൂലിനെ ഒക്കെയും ഞാന് വീണ്ടുകൊള്ളുന്നു.

15. When Pharaoh was unwilling to let us go, ADONAI killed all the firstborn males in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of humans and the firstborn of animals. This is why I sacrifice to ADONAI any male that is first from the womb of an animal, but all the firstborn of my sons I redeem.'

16. അതു നിന്റെ കയ്യിന്മേല് അടയാളമായും നിന്റെ കണ്ണുകളുടെ നടുവില് നെറ്റിപ്പട്ടമായും ഇരിക്കേണം. യഹോവ ഞങ്ങളെ ബലമുള്ള കൈകൊണ്ടു മിസ്രയീമില് നിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു എന്നു നീ അവനോടു പറയേണം.

16. This will serve as a sign on your hand and at the front of a headband around your forehead that with a strong hand ADONAI brought us out of Egypt.'

17. ഫറവോന് ജനത്തെ വിട്ടയച്ച ശേഷം ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ ദേശത്തു കൂടിയുള്ള വഴി അടുത്തതു എന്നു വരികിലും ജനം യുദ്ധം കാണുമ്പോള് പക്ഷേ അനുതപിച്ചു മിസ്രയീമിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകുമെന്നുവെച്ചു ദൈവം അവരെ അതിലെ കൊണ്ടുപോയില്ല;

17. After Pharaoh had let the people go, God did not guide them to the highway that goes through the land of the P'lishtim, because it was close by- God thought that the people, upon seeing war, might change their minds and return to Egypt.

18. ചെങ്കടലരികെയുള്ള മരുഭൂമിയില്കൂടി ദൈവം ജനത്തെ ചുറ്റിനടത്തി. യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു യുദ്ധസന്നദ്ധരായി പുറപ്പെട്ടു.

18. Rather, God led the people by a roundabout route, through the desert by the Sea of Suf. The people of Isra'el went up from the land of Egypt fully armed.

19. മോശെ യോസേഫിന്റെ അസ്ഥികളും എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടു പോന്നു. ദൈവം നിങ്ങളെ സന്ദര്ശിക്കും നിശ്ചയം; അപ്പോള് എന്റെ അസ്ഥികളും നിങ്ങള് ഇവിടെനിന്നു എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടുപോകേണമെന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവന് യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളെക്കൊണ്ടു ഉറപ്പായി സത്യം ചെയ്യിച്ചിരുന്നു.

19. Moshe took the bones of Yosef with him, for Yosef had made the people of Isra'el swear an oath when he said, 'God will certainly remember you; and you are to carry my bones up with you, away from here.'

20. അവര് സുക്കോത്തില് നിന്നു യാത്രപുറപ്പെട്ടു മരുഭൂമിക്കരികെ ഏഥാമില് പാളയമിറങ്ങി.

20. They traveled from Sukkot and set up camp in Etam, at the edge of the desert.

21. അവര് പകലും രാവും യാത്രചെയ്വാന് തക്കവണ്ണം അവര്ക്കും വഴികാണിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു പകല് മേഘസ്തംഭത്തിലും അവര്ക്കും വെളിച്ചം കൊടുക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു രാത്രി അഗ്നിസ്തംഭത്തിലും യഹോവ അവര്ക്കും മുമ്പായി പൊയ്ക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
1 കൊരിന്ത്യർ 10:1

21. ADONAI went ahead of them in a column of cloud during the daytime to lead them on their way, and at night in a column of fire to give them light; thus they could travel both by day and by night.

22. പകല് മേഘസ്തംഭവും രാത്രി അഗ്നിസ്തംഭവും ജനത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പില് നിന്നു മാറിയതുമില്ല.

22. Neither the column of cloud by day nor the column of fire at night went away from in front of the people.
