1. അനന്തരം യഹോവ മോശെയോടു കല്പിച്ചതു എന്തെന്നാല് നീയും മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു നീ കൊണ്ടുവന്ന ജനവും ഇവിടെ നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു, നിന്റെ സന്തതിക്കു കൊടുക്കുമെന്നു ഞാന് അബ്രാഹാമിനോടും യിസ്ഹാക്കിനോടും യാക്കോബിനോടും സത്യംചെയ്ത ദേശത്തേക്കു,

1. ADONAI said to Moshe, 'Leave, you and the people you brought up from the land of Egypt; and move on from here toward the land of which I swore to Avraham, Yitz'chak and Ya'akov, 'I will give it to your descendants.'

2. പാലും തേനും ഒഴുകുന്ന ദേശത്തേക്കു, തന്നേ, പോകുവിന് . ഞാന് ഒരു ദൂതനെ നിനക്കു മുമ്പായി അയക്കും; കനാന്യന് , അമോര്യ്യന് , ഹിത്യന് , പെരിസ്യന് , ഹിവ്യന് , യെബൂസ്യന് എന്നിവരെ ഞാന് ഔടിച്ചുകളയും.

2. I will send an angel ahead of you; and I will drive out the Kena'ani, Emori, Hitti, P'rizi, Hivi and Y'vusi.

3. വഴിയില്വെച്ചു ഞാന് നിന്നെ നശിപ്പിക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാന് നിന്റെ നടുവില് നടക്കയില്ല; നീ ദുശ്ശാഠ്യമുള്ള ജനം ആകുന്നു.

3. You will go to a land flowing with milk and honey; but I myself will not go with you, because you are such a stiffnecked people that I might destroy you on the way.'

4. ദോഷകരമായ ഈ വചനം കേട്ടപ്പോള് ജനം ദുഃഖിച്ചു; ആരും തന്റെ ആഭരണം ധരിച്ചതുമില്ല.

4. When the people heard this bad news, they went into mourning; and no one wore his ornaments.

5. നിങ്ങള് ദുശ്ശാഠ്യമുള്ള ജനം ആകുന്നു; ഞാന് ഒരു നിമിഷനേരം നിന്റെ നടുവില് നടന്നാല് നിന്നെ സംഹരിച്ചുകളയും; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് നിന്നോടു എന്തു ചെയ്യേണം എന്നു അറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ നിന്റെ ആഭരണം നീക്കിക്കളക എന്നിങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേല് മക്കളോടു പറക എന്നു യഹോവ മോശെയോടു കല്പിച്ചിരുന്നു.

5. ADONAI said to Moshe, 'Tell the people of Isra'el, 'You are a stiffnecked people! If I were to go up with you for even one moment, I would exterminate you! Now, keep your ornaments off; then I will decide what to do to you.''

6. അങ്ങനെ ഹോരേബ് പര്വ്വതത്തിങ്കല് തുടങ്ങി യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് ആഭരണം ധരിച്ചില്ല.

6. So from Mount Horev onward, the people of Isra'el stripped themselves of their ornaments.

7. മോശെ കൂടാരം എടുത്തു പാളയത്തിന്നു പുറത്തു പാളയത്തില്നിന്നു ദൂരത്തു അടിച്ചു; അതിന്നു സമാഗമനക്കുടാരം എന്നു പേര് ഇട്ടു. യഹോവയെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നവനെല്ലാം പുറപ്പെട്ടു പാളയത്തിന്നു പുറത്തുള്ള സമാഗമന കൂടാരത്തിലേക്കു ചെന്നു.

7. Moshe would take the tent and pitch it outside the camp, far away from the camp. He called it the tent of meeting. Everyone who wanted to consult ADONAI would go out to the tent of meeting, outside the camp.

8. മോശെ കൂടാരത്തിലേക്കു പോകുമ്പോള് ജനം ഒക്കെയും എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഒരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ കൂടാരവാതില്ക്കല് നിന്നു, മോശെ കൂടാരത്തിന്നകത്തു കടക്കുവേളം അവനെ നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

8. Whenever Moshe went out to the tent, all the people would get up and stand, each man at his tent door, and look at Moshe until he had gone into the tent.

9. മോശെ കൂടാരത്തില് കടക്കുമ്പോള് മേഘസ്തംഭം ഇറങ്ങി കൂടാരവാതില്ക്കല് നില്ക്കയും യഹോവ മോശെയോടു സംസാരിക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

9. Whenever Moshe entered the tent, the column of cloud would descend and station itself at the entrance to the tent; and ADONAI would speak with Moshe.

10. ജനം എല്ലാം കൂടാരവാതില്ക്കല് മേഘസ്തംഭം നിലക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു. ജനം എല്ലാം എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ കൂടാരവാതില്ക്കല്വെച്ചു നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

10. When all the people saw the column of cloud stationed at the entrance to the tent, they would get up and prostrate themselves, each man at his tent door.

11. ഒരുത്തന് തന്റെ സ്നേഹിതനോടു സംസാരിക്കുന്നതു പോലെ യഹോവ മോശെയോടു അഭിമുഖമായി സംസാരിച്ചു. പിന്നെ അവന് പാളയത്തിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിവന്നു; അവന്റെ ശുശ്രൂഷക്കാരനായ നൂന്റെ പുത്രനായ യോശുവ എന്ന ബാല്യക്കാരനോ കൂടാരത്തെ വിട്ടുപിരിയാതിരുന്നു.

11. ADONAI would speak to Moshe face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. Then he would return to the camp; but the young man who was his assistant, Y'hoshua the son of Nun, never left the inside of the tent.

12. മോശെ യഹോവയോടു പറഞ്ഞതു എന്തെന്നാല്ഈ ജനത്തെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു പോക എന്നു നീ എന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചുവല്ലോ; എങ്കിലും ആരെ എന്നോടുകൂടെ അയക്കുമെന്നു അറിയിച്ചുതന്നില്ല; എന്നാല്ഞാന് നിന്നെ അടുത്തു അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; എനിക്കു നിന്നോടു കൃപ തോന്നിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു നീ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ.

12. Moshe said to ADONAI, 'Look, you say to me, 'Make these people move on!' But you haven't let me know whom you will be sending with me. Nevertheless you have said, 'I know you by name,' and also, 'You have found favor in my sight.'

13. ആകയാല് എന്നോടു കൃപയുണ്ടെങ്കില് നിന്റെ വഴി എന്നെ അറിയിക്കേണമേ; നിനക്കു എന്നോടു കൃപയുണ്ടാകുവാന്തക്കവണ്ണം ഞാന് നിന്നെ അറിയുമാറാകട്ടെ; ഈ ജാതി നിന്റെ ജനം എന്നു ഔര്ക്കേണമേ.

13. Now, please, if it is really the case that I have found favor in your sight, show me your ways; so that I will understand you and continue finding favor in your sight. Moreover, keep on seeing this nation as your people.'

14. അതിന്നു അവന് എന്റെ സാന്നിദ്ധ്യം നിന്നോടുകൂടെ പോരും; ഞാന് നിനക്കു സ്വസ്ഥത നലകും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

14. He answered, 'Set your mind at rest- my presence will go with you, after all.'

15. അവന് അവനോടുതിരുസാന്നിദ്ധ്യം എന്നോടുകൂടെ പോരുന്നില്ല എങ്കില് ഞങ്ങളെ ഇവിടെനിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കരുതേ.

15. Moshe replied, 'If your presence doesn't go with us, don't make us go on from here.

16. എന്നോടും നിന്റെ ജനത്തോടും കൃപ ഉണ്ടെന്നുള്ളതു ഏതിനാല് അറിയും? നീ ഞങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ പോരുന്നതിനാലല്ലയോ? അങ്ങനെ ഞാനും നിന്റെ ജനവും ഭൂതലത്തിലുള്ള സകലജാതികളിലുംവെച്ചു വിശേഷതയുള്ളവരായിരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

16. For how else is it to be known that I have found favor in your sight, I and your people, other than by your going with us? That is what distinguishes us, me and your people, from all the other peoples on earth.'

17. യഹോവ മോശെയോടുനീ പറഞ്ഞ ഈ വാക്കുപോലെ ഞാന് ചെയ്യും; എനിക്കു നിന്നോടു കൃപ തോന്നിയിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാന് നിന്നെ അടുത്തു അറിഞ്ഞുമിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

17. ADONAI said to Moshe, 'I will also do what you have asked me to do, because you have found favor in my sight, and I know you by name.'

18. അപ്പോള് അവന് നിന്റെ തേജസ്സു എനിക്കു കാണിച്ചു തരേണമേ എന്നപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

18. But Moshe said, 'I beg you to show me your glory!'

19. അതിന്നു അവന് ഞാന് എന്റെ മഹിമ ഒക്കെയും നിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ കടക്കുമാറാക്കി യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തെ നിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ ഘോഷിക്കും; കൃപ ചെയ്വാന് എനിക്കു മനസ്സുള്ളവനോടു ഞാന് കൃപ ചെയ്യും; കരുണ കാണിപ്പാന് എനിക്കു മനസ്സുള്ളവന്നു ഞാന് കരുണ കാണിക്കും എന്നരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

19. He replied, 'I will cause all my goodness to pass before you, and in your presence I will pronounce the name of [ADONAI.] Moreover, I show favor to whomever I will, and I display mercy to whomever I will.

20. നിനക്കു എന്റെ മുഖം കാണ്മാന് കഴികയില്ല; ഒരു മനുഷ്യനും എന്നെ കണ്ടു ജീവനോടെ ഇരിക്കയില്ല എന്നും അവന് കല്പിച്ചു.

20. But my face,' he continued, 'you cannot see, because a human being cannot look at me and remain alive.

21. ഇതാ, എന്റെ അടുക്കല് ഒരു സ്ഥലം ഉണ്ടു; അവിടെ ആ പാറമേല് നീ നില്ക്കേണം.

21. Here,' he said, 'is a place near me; stand on the rock.

22. എന്റെ തേജസ്സു കടന്നുപോകുമ്പോള് ഞാന് നിന്നെ പാറയുടെ ഒരു പിളര്പ്പില് ആക്കി ഞാന് കടന്നുപോകുവോളം എന്റെ കൈകൊണ്ടു നിന്നെ മറെക്കും.

22. When my glory passes by, I will put you inside a crevice in the rock and cover you with my hand, until I have passed by.

23. പിന്നെ എന്റെ കൈ നീക്കും; നീ എന്റെ പിന് ഭാഗം കാണും; എന്റെ മുഖമോ കാണാവതല്ല എന്നും യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

23. Then I will remove my hand, and you will see my back, but my face is not to be seen.'
