1. വീഞ്ഞു പരിഹാസിയും മദ്യം കലഹക്കാരനും ആകുന്നു; അതിനാല് ചാഞ്ചാടി നടക്കുന്ന ആരും ജ്ഞാനിയാകയില്ല.

1. Wine is a mocker, strong liquor a rowdy; anyone led astray by it is unwise.

2. രാജാവിന്റെ ഭീഷണം സിംഹഗര്ജ്ജനം പോലെ; അവനെ കോപിപ്പിക്കുന്നവന് തന്റെ പ്രാണനോടു ദ്രോഹം ചെയ്യുന്നു.

2. The dread of a king is like when a lion roars; he who makes him angry commits a life-threatening sin.

3. വ്യവഹാരം ഒഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നതു പുരുഷന്നു മാനം; എന്നാല് ഏതു ഭോഷനും ശണ്ഠകൂടും.

3. Avoiding quarrels brings a person honor; for any fool can explode in anger.

4. മടിയന് ശീതംനിമിത്തം ഉഴാതിരിക്കുന്നു; കൊയ്ത്തുകാലത്തു അവന് ഇരക്കും; ഒന്നും കിട്ടുകയുമില്ല.

4. A lazy person won't plow in winter; so at harvest-time, when he looks, there is nothing.

5. മനുഷ്യന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിലെ ആലോചന ആഴമുള്ള വെള്ളം; വിവേകമുള്ള പുരുഷനോ അതു കോരി എടുക്കും.

5. The heart's real intentions are like deep water; but a person with discernment draws them out.

6. മിക്ക മനുഷ്യരും തങ്ങളോടു ദയാലുവായ ഒരുത്തനെ കാണും; എന്നാല് വിശ്വസ്തനായ ഒരുത്തനെ ആര് കണ്ടെത്തും?

6. Most people announce that they show kindness, but who can find someone faithful [[enough to do it]]?

7. പരമാര്ത്ഥതയില് നടക്കുന്നവന് നീതിമാന് ; അവന്റെ ശേഷം അവന്റെ മക്കളും ഭാഗ്യവാന്മാര്.

7. The righteous live a life of integrity; happy are their children after them.

8. ന്യായാസനത്തില് ഇരിക്കുന്ന രാജാവു തന്റെ കണ്ണുകൊണ്ടു സകലദോഷത്തെയും പേറ്റിക്കളയുന്നു.

8. The king seated on his judgment throne can winnow out all evil with his glance.

9. ഞാന് എന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തെ ശുദ്ധീകരിച്ചു പാപം ഒഴിഞ്ഞു നിര്മ്മലനായിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ആര്ക്കും പറയാം?

9. Who can say, 'I have made my heart clean, I am cleansed from my sin'?

10. രണ്ടുതരം തൂക്കവും രണ്ടുതരം അളവും രണ്ടും ഒരുപോലെ യഹോവേക്കു വെറുപ്പു.

10. False weights and false measures- ADONAI detests them both.

11. ബാല്യത്തിലെ ക്രിയകളാല് തന്നേ ഒരുത്തന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തി വെടിപ്പും നേരുമുള്ളതാകുമോ എന്നു അറിയാം.

11. The character of even a child is known by how he acts, by whether his deeds are pure and right.

12. കേള്ക്കുന്ന ചെവി, കാണുന്ന കണ്ണു, ഇവ രണ്ടും യഹോവ ഉണ്ടാക്കി.

12. The hearing ear and the seeing eye- ADONAI made them both.

13. ദരിദ്രനാകാതെയിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നിദ്രാപ്രിയനാകരുതു; നീ കണ്ണു തുറക്ക; നിനക്കു വേണ്ടുവോളം ആഹാരം ഉണ്ടാകും.

13. If you love sleep, you will become poor; keep your eyes open, and you'll have plenty of food.

14. വിലെക്കു വാങ്ങുന്നവന് ചീത്തചീത്ത എന്നു പറയുന്നു; വാങ്ങി തന്റെ വഴിക്കു പോകുമ്പോഴോ അവന് പ്രശംസിക്കുന്നു.

14. Really bad stuff!' says the buyer [[to the seller]]; then he goes off and brags [[about his bargain]].

15. പൊന്നും അനവധി മുത്തുകളും ഉണ്ടല്ലോ; പരിജ്ഞാനമുള്ള അധരങ്ങളോ വിലയേറിയ ആഭരണം.

15. A person may have gold and a wealth of pearls, but lips informed by knowledge are a precious jewel.

16. അന്യന്നു വേണ്ടി ജാമ്യം നിലക്കുന്നവന്റെ വസ്ത്രം എടുത്തുകൊള്ക; അന്യജാതിക്കാരന്നു വേണ്ടി ഉത്തരവാദി ആകുന്നവനോടു പണയം വാങ്ങുക.

16. Seize his clothes, because he guaranteed a stranger's loan; take them as security for that unknown woman.

17. വ്യാജത്താല് നേടിയ ആഹാരം മനുഷ്യന്നു മധുരം; പിന്നത്തേതിലോ അവന്റെ വായില് ചരല് നിറയും.

17. Food obtained by fraud may taste good, but later the mouth is full of gravel.

18. ഉദ്ദേശങ്ങള് ആലോചനകൊണ്ടു സാധിക്കുന്നു; ആകയാല് ഭരണസാമര്ത്ഥ്യത്തോടെ യുദ്ധം ചെയ്ക.

18. After consultation, plans succeed; so take wise advice when waging war.

19. നുണയനായി നുടക്കുന്നവന് രഹസ്യം വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു; ആകയാല് വിടുവായനോടു ഇടപെടരുതു.

19. A gossip goes around revealing secrets, so don't get involved with a talkative person.

20. ആരെങ്കിലും അപ്പനെയോ അമ്മയെയോ ദുഷിച്ചാല് അവന്റെ വിളകൂ കൂരിരുട്ടില് കെട്ടുപോകും.

20. Whoever curses his father or mother- his lamp will go out in total darkness.

21. ഒരു അവകാശം ആദിയില് ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു കൈവശമാക്കാം; അതിന്റെ അവസാനമോ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കയില്ല.

21. Possessions acquired quickly at first will not be blessed in the end.

22. ഞാന് ദോഷത്തിന്നു പ്രതികാരം ചെയ്യുമെന്നു നീ പറയരുതു; യഹോവയെ കാത്തിരിക്ക; അവന് നിന്നെ രക്ഷിക്കും.

22. Don't say, 'I'll pay back evil for evil'; wait for ADONAI to save you.

23. രണ്ടുതരം തൂക്കം യഹോവേക്കു വെറുപ്പു; കള്ളത്തുലാസും കൊള്ളരുതു.

23. ADONAI detests a double standard in weights, and false scales are not good.

24. മനുഷ്യന്റെ ഗതികള് യഹോവയാല് നിയമിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു; പിന്നെ മനുഷ്യന്നു തന്റെ വഴി എങ്ങനെ ഗ്രഹിക്കാം?

24. A man's steps are ordered by ADONAI, so how can a person understand his own ways?

25. “ഇതു നിവേദിതം” എന്നു തത്രപ്പെട്ടു നേരുന്നതും നേര്ന്നശേഷം നിരൂപിക്കുന്നതും മനുഷ്യന്നു ഒരു കണി.

25. It is a snare to dedicate a gift to God rashly and reflect on the vows only afterwards.

26. ജ്ഞാനമുള്ള രാജാവു ദുഷ്ടന്മാരെ പേറ്റിക്കളയുന്നു; അവരുടെ മേല് അവന് മെതിവണ്ടി ഉരുട്ടുന്നു.

26. A wise king winnows the wicked [[from the righteous]] and threshes them under the cartwheel.

27. മനുഷ്യന്റെ ആത്മാവു യഹോവയുടെ ദീപം; അതു ഉദരത്തിന്റെ അറകളെ ഒക്കെയും ശോധനചെയ്യുന്നു.

27. The human spirit is a lamp of ADONAI; it searches one's inmost being.

28. ദയയും വിശ്വസ്തതയും രാജാവിനെ കാക്കുന്നു; ദയകൊണ്ടു അവന് തന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തെ ഉറപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

28. Grace and truth preserve a king; with grace he upholds his throne.

29. യൌവനക്കാരുടെ ശക്തി അവരുടെ പ്രശംസ; വൃദ്ധന്മാരുടെ നര അവരുടെ ഭൂഷണം.

29. The pride of the young is their strength; the dignity of the old is gray hair.

30. ഉദരത്തിന്റെ അറകളിലേക്കു ചെല്ലുന്ന തല്ലും പൊട്ടിപ്പോകത്തക്ക അടിയും ദോഷത്തെ അടിച്ചുവാരിക്കളയുന്നു.

30. Blows that wound purge away evil, yes, beatings [[cleanse]] one's inmost being.
