1. യാക്കേയുടെ മകനായ ആഗൂരിന്റെ വചനങ്ങള്; ഒരു അരുളപ്പാടു; ആ പുരുഷന്റെ വാക്യമാവിതുദൈവമേ, ഞാന് അദ്ധ്വാനിച്ചു, ദൈവമേ, ഞാന് അദ്ധ്വാനിച്ചു ക്ഷയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

1. The words of Agur the son of Yakeh, the prophecy. The man says to Iti'el, to Iti'el and Ukhal:

2. ഞാന് സകലമനുഷ്യരിലും മൃഗപ്രായനത്രേ; മാനുഷബുദ്ധി എനിക്കില്ല;

2. I am more boorish than anyone, I lack human discernment;

3. ഞാന് ജ്ഞാനം അഭ്യസിച്ചിട്ടില്ല; പരിശുദ്ധനായവന്റെ പരിജ്ഞാനം എനിക്കില്ല.

3. I have not learned enough wisdom to know the Holy One.

4. സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തില് കയറുകയും ഇറങ്ങിവരികയും ചെയ്തവന് ആര്? കാറ്റിനെ തന്റെ മുഷ്ടിയില് പിടിച്ചടക്കിയവന് ആര്? വെള്ളങ്ങളെ വസ്ത്രത്തില് കെട്ടിയവന് ആര്? ഭൂമിയുടെ അറുതികളെയൊക്കെയും നിയമിച്ചവന് ആര്? അവന്റെ പേരെന്തു? അവന്റെ മകന്റെ പേര് എന്തു? നിനക്കറിയാമോ?

4. Who has gone up to heaven and come down? Who has cupped the wind in the palms of his hands? Who has wrapped up the waters in his cloak? Who established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is his son's name? Surely you know!

5. ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സകലവചനവും ശുദ്ധിചെയ്തതാകുന്നു; തന്നില് ആശ്രയിക്കുന്നവര്ക്കും അവന് പരിച തന്നേ.

5. Every word of God's is pure; he shields those taking refuge in him.

6. അവന്റെ വചനങ്ങളോടു നീ ഒന്നും കൂട്ടരുതു; അവന് നിന്നെ വിസ്തരിച്ചിട്ടു നീ കള്ളനാകുവാന് ഇട വരരുതു.

6. Don't add anything to his words; or he will rebuke you, and you be found a liar.

7. രണ്ടു കാര്യം ഞാന് നിന്നോടു അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു; ജീവപര്യന്തം അവ എനിക്കു നിഷേധിക്കരുതേ;

7. [[God,]] I have asked two things of you; don't deny them to me as long as I live-

8. വ്യാജവും ഭോഷകും എന്നോടു അകറ്റേണമേ; ദാരിദ്ര്യവും സമ്പത്തും എനിക്കു തരാതെ നിത്യവൃത്തി തന്നു എന്നെ പോഷിപ്പിക്കേണമേ.

8. keep falsehood and futility far from me, and give me neither poverty nor wealth. Yes, provide just the food I need today;

9. ഞാന് തൃപ്തനായിത്തീര്ന്നിട്ടുയഹോവ ആര് എന്നു നിന്നെ നിഷേധിപ്പാനും ദരിദ്രനായിത്തീര്ന്നിട്ടു മോഷ്ടിച്ചു എന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ നാമത്തെ തീണ്ടിപ്പാനും സംഗതി വരരുതേ.

9. for if I have too much, I might deny you and say, 'Who is ADONAI?' And if I am poor, I might steal and thus profane the name of my God.

10. ദാസനെക്കുറിച്ചു യജമാനനോടു ഏഷണി പറയരുതു; അവന് നിന്നെ ശപിപ്പാനും നീ കുറ്റക്കാരനായിത്തീരുവാനും ഇടവരരുതു.

10. Never disparage a slave to his master, or he will curse you, and you will deserve it.

11. അപ്പനെ ശപിക്കയും അമ്മയെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നോരു തലമുറ!

11. There is a type of people who curse their fathers and don't bless their mothers.

12. തങ്ങള്ക്കു തന്നേ നിര്മ്മലരായിത്തോന്നുന്നവരും അശുദ്ധി കഴുകിക്കളയാത്തവരുമായോരു തലമുറ!

12. There is a type of people clean in their own view, but not cleansed from their filth.

13. അയ്യോ ഈ തലമുറയുടെ കണ്ണുകള് എത്ര ഉയര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്നു -- അവരുടെ കണ്ണിമകള് എത്ര പൊങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു --

13. There is a type of people- how haughty their look!- utterly supercilious!

14. എളിയവരെ ഭൂമിയില്നിന്നും ദരിദ്രരെ മനുഷ്യരുടെ ഇടയില്നിന്നും തിന്നുകളവാന് തക്കവണ്ണം മുമ്പല്ലു വാളായും അണപ്പല്ലു കത്തിയായും ഇരിക്കുന്നോരു തലമുറ!

14. There is a type of people whose teeth are like swords, yes, their fangs are knives; they devour the poor from the earth, the needy from humankind.

15. കന്നട്ടെക്കുതരിക, തരിക എന്ന രണ്ടു പുത്രിമാര് ഉണ്ടു; ഒരിക്കലും തൃപ്തിവരാത്തതു മൂന്നുണ്ടു; മതി എന്നു പറയാത്തതു നാലുണ്ടു

15. The leech has two daughters; they cry, 'Give! Give!' Three things are never satisfied; four never say, 'Enough!'-

16. പാതാളവും വന്ധ്യയുടെ ഗര്ഭപാത്രവും വെള്ളം കുടിച്ചു തൃപ്തിവരാത്ത ഭൂമിയും മതി എന്നു പറയാത്ത തീയും തന്നേ.

16. Sh'ol and a barren womb; the earth, never satisfied with water; and fire, which never says, 'Enough!'

17. അപ്പനെ പരിഹസിക്കയും അമ്മയെ അനുസരിക്കാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്ന കണ്ണിനെ തോട്ടരികത്തെ കാക്ക കൊത്തിപ്പറിക്കയും കഴുകിന് കുഞ്ഞുകള് തിന്നുകയും ചെയ്യും.

17. The eye that mocks his father and scorns obeying his mother will be pecked out by the ravens in the valley, and the vultures will eat it.

18. എനിക്കു അതിവിസ്മയമായി തോന്നുന്നതു മൂന്നുണ്ടു; എനിക്കു അറിഞ്ഞുകൂടാത്തതു നാലുണ്ടു

18. Three things are too wonderful for me, four beyond my knowledge-

19. ആകാശത്തു കഴുകന്റെ വഴിയും പാറമേല് സര്പ്പത്തിന്റെ വഴിയും സമുദ്രമദ്ധ്യേ കപ്പലിന്റെ വഴിയും കന്യകയോടുകൂടെ പുരുഷന്റെ വഴിയും തന്നേ.

19. the way of an eagle in the sky, the way of a snake on a rock, the way of a ship on the open sea, and the way of a man with a girl.

20. വ്യഭിചാരിണിയുടെ വഴിയും അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ. അവള് തിന്നു വായ് തുടെച്ചിട്ടു ഞാന് ഒരു ദോഷവും ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ലെന്നു പറയുന്നു.

20. This is how an unfaithful wife behaves: she eats, wipes her mouth, and says, 'I did nothing wrong.'

21. മൂന്നിന്റെ നിമിത്തം ഭൂമി വിറെക്കുന്നു; നാലിന്റെ നിമിത്തം അതിന്നു സഹിച്ചു കൂടാ

21. Three things make the earth quake, four things it can't bear-

22. ദാസന് രാജാവായാല് അവന്റെ നിമിത്തവും ഭോഷന് തിന്നു തൃപ്തനായാല് അവന്റെ നിമിത്തവും

22. a slave who becomes king, a boor gorged with food,

23. വിലക്ഷണെക്കു വിവാഹം കഴിഞ്ഞാല് അവളുടെ നിമിത്തവും ദാസി യജമാനത്തിയുടെ സ്ഥാനം പ്രാപിച്ചാല് അവളുടെ നിമിത്തവും തന്നേ.

23. a hated [[wife]] when her husband takes her [[back]], and a slave-girl who inherits from her mistress.

24. ഭൂമിയില് എത്രയും ചെറിയവയെങ്കിലും അത്യന്തം ജ്ഞാനമുള്ളവയായിട്ടു നാലുണ്ടു

24. Four things on the earth are small; nevertheless, they are very wise-

25. ഉറുമ്പു ബലഹീനജാതി എങ്കിലും അതു വേനല്ക്കാലത്തു ആഹാരം സമ്പാദിച്ചു വെക്കുന്നു.

25. the ants, a species not strong, yet they store up their food in the summer;

26. കുഴിമുയല് ശക്തിയില്ലാത്ത ജാതി എങ്കിലും അതു പാറയില് പാര്പ്പിടം ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നു.

26. the coneys, a species with little power, yet they make their home in the rocks;

27. വെട്ടുക്കിളിക്കു രാജാവില്ല എങ്കിലും അതൊക്കെയും അണിയണിയായി പുറപ്പെടുന്നു.

27. the locusts, who have no king, yet they all march out in ranks;

28. പല്ലിയെ കൈകൊണ്ടു പിടിക്കാം എങ്കിലും അതു രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ അരമനകളില് പാര്ക്കുംന്നു.

28. and the spiders, which you can catch in your hand, yet they are in the king's palace.

29. ചന്തമായി നടകൊള്ളുന്നതു മൂന്നുണ്ടു; ചന്തമായി നടക്കുന്നതു നാലുണ്ടു

29. Three things are stately in their stride, four of stately gait-

30. മൃഗങ്ങളില്വെച്ചു ശക്തിയേറിയതും ഒന്നിന്നും വഴിമാറാത്തതുമായ സിംഹവും

30. the lion, mightiest of beasts, which turns aside for none;

31. നായാട്ടുനായും കോലാട്ടുകൊറ്റനും സൈന്യസമേതനായ രാജാവും തന്നേ.

31. the greyhound, the billy-goat and the king when his army is with him.

32. നീ നിഗളിച്ചു ഭോഷത്വം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കയോ ദോഷം നിരൂപിക്കയോ ചെയ്തുപോയെങ്കില് കൈകൊണ്ടു വായ് പൊത്തിക്കൊള്ക.

32. If you have been boorish, exalting yourself, or if you have been scheming, lay your hand on your mouth.

33. പാല് കടഞ്ഞാല് വെണ്ണയുണ്ടാകും; മൂകൂ ഞെക്കിയാല് ചോര വരും; കോപം ഇളക്കിയാല് വഴക്കുണ്ടാകും.

33. For as pressing milk produces butter and pressing the nose produces blood, so pressing out anger produces strife.
