1. മക്കളേ, അപ്പന്റെ പ്രബോധനം കേട്ടു വിവേകം പ്രാപിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ശ്രദ്ധിപ്പിന് .

1. Heare (O ye children) the fatherly exortacio, & take good hede, that ye maye lerne wy?dome.

2. ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു സല്ബുദ്ധി ഉപദേശിച്ചുതരുന്നു; എന്റെ ഉപദേശം നിങ്ങള് ഉപേക്ഷിക്കരുതു.

2. Yee I shal geue you a good rewarde, yf ye wil not forsake my lawe.

3. ഞാന് എന്റെ അപ്പന്നു മകനും എന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു ഔമനയും ഏകപുത്രനും ആയിരുന്നു;

3. For when I myself was my fathers deare sonne, and tenderly beloued of my mother,

4. അവന് എന്നെ പഠിപ്പിച്ചു, എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞതുഎന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ ഹൃദയത്തില് സംഗ്രഹിച്ചുകൊള്ക; എന്റെ കല്പനകളെ പ്രമാണിച്ചു ജീവിക്ക.

5. ജ്ഞാനം സമ്പാദിക്കവിവേകം നേടുക; മറക്കരുതു; എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ വിട്ടുമാറുകയുമരുതു.

5. Get the wy?dome, get the vnderstondinge, forget not ye wordes of my mouth, & shreke not from them.

6. അതിനെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കരുതു; അതു നിന്നെ കാക്കും; അതില് പ്രിയം വെക്കുക; അതു നിന്നെ സൂക്ഷിക്കും;

6. Forsake her not, and she shal preserue the: loue her, and she shal kepe the.

7. ജ്ഞാനംതന്നേ പ്രധാനം; ജ്ഞാനം സമ്പാദിക്ക; നിന്റെ സകലസമ്പാദ്യത്താലും വിവേകം നേടുക.

7. The chefe poynte of wy?dome is, that thou be wyllynge to opteyne wy?dome, and before all thy goodes to get the vnderstondynge.

8. അതിനെ ഉയര്ത്തുക; അതു നിന്നെ ഉയര്ത്തും; അതിനെ ആലിംഗനം ചെയ്താല് അതു നിനക്കു മാനം വരുത്തും.

8. Make moch of her, and she shal promote the: Yee yf thou embracest her, she shal brynge the vnto honoure.

9. അതു നിന്റെ തലയെ അലങ്കാരമാല അണിയിക്കും; അതു നിന്നെ ഒരു മഹത്വകിരീടം ചൂടിക്കും.

10. മകനേ കേട്ടു എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ കൈക്കൊള്ക; എന്നാല് നിനക്കു ദീര്ഘായുസ്സുണ്ടാകും.

10. Heare my sonne, and receaue my wordes, that the yeares of thy life maye be many.

11. ജ്ഞാനത്തിന്റെ മാര്ഗ്ഗം ഞാന് നിന്നെ ഉപദേശിക്കുന്നുനേരെയുള്ള പാതയില് ഞാന് നിന്നെ നടത്തുന്നു.

11. I wil shewe the ye waye of wy?dome, and lede the in the right pathes.

12. നടക്കുമ്പോള് നിന്റെ കാലടിക്കു ഇടുക്കം വരികയില്ല; ഔടുമ്പോള് നീ ഇടറുകയുമില്ല.

12. So that yf thou goest therin, there shal no straytnesse hynder the: and when thou runnest, thou shalt not fall.

13. പ്രബോധനം മുറുകെ പിടിക്ക; വിട്ടുകളയരുതു; അതിനെ കാത്തുകൊള്ക, അതു നിന്റെ ജീവനല്ലോ.

13. Take fast holde of doctryne, let her not go: kepe her, for she is thy life.

14. ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ പാതയില് നീ ചെല്ലരുതു; ദുര്ജ്ജനത്തിന്റെ വഴിയില് നടക്കയുമരുതു;

14. Come not in the path of the vngodly, and walke not in the waye of the wicked.

15. അതിനോടു അകന്നുനില്ക്ക; അതില് നടക്കരുതു; അതു വിട്ടുമാറി കടന്നുപോക.

15. Eschue it, & go not therin: departe asyde, & passe ouer by it.

16. അവര് ദോഷം ചെയ്തിട്ടല്ലാതെ ഉറങ്ങുകയില്ല; വല്ലവരെയും വീഴിച്ചിട്ടല്ലാതെ അവര്ക്കും ഉറക്കം വരികയില്ല.

16. For they can not slepe, excepte they haue first done some myschefe: nether take they eny rest, excepte they haue first done some harme.

17. ദുഷ്ടതയുടെ ആഹാരംകൊണ്ടു അവര് ഉപജീവിക്കുന്നു; ബലാല്ക്കാരത്തിന്റെ വീഞ്ഞു അവന് പാനം ചെയ്യുന്നു.

17. For they eate the bred of wickednesse, and drike the wyne of robbery.

18. നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ പാതയോ പ്രഭാതത്തിന്റെ വെളിച്ചംപോലെ; അതു നട്ടുച്ചവരെ അധികമധികം ശോഭിച്ചു വരുന്നു.

18. The path of the rightuous shyneth as the light, and is euer brighter & brighter vnto the parfecte daye.

19. ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെവഴി അന്ധകാരംപോലെയാകുന്നു; ഏതിങ്കല് തട്ടി വീഴും എന്നു അവര് അറിയുന്നില്ല.

19. But ye waye of the vngodly is as the darcknesse, wherin me fall, or they be awarre.

20. മകനേ, എന്റെ വചനങ്ങള്ക്കു ശ്രദ്ധതരിക; എന്റെ മൊഴികള്ക്കു നിന്റെ ചെവി ചായിക്ക.

20. My sonne, marcke my wordes, and enclyne thine eare vnto my saynges.

21. അവ നിന്റെ ദൃഷ്ടിയില്നിന്നു മാറിപ്പോകരുതു; നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ നടുവില് അവയെ സൂക്ഷിച്ചുവെക്കുക.

21. Let them not departe from thine eyes, kepe them euen in the myddest of thine herte.

22. അവയെ കിട്ടുന്നവര്ക്കും അവ ജീവനും അവരുടെ സര്വ്വദേഹത്തിന്നും സൌഖ്യവും ആകുന്നു.

22. For they are life vnto all those that finde the, and health vnto all their bodies.

23. സകലജാഗ്രതയോടുംകൂടെ നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തെ കാത്തുകൊള്ക; ജീവന്റെ ഉത്ഭവം അതില്നിന്നല്ലോ ആകുന്നതു.

23. Kepe thine hert with all diligence, for there vpon hangeth life.

24. വായുടെ വക്രത നിങ്കല്നിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളക; അധരങ്ങളുടെ വികടം നിങ്കല്നിന്നകറ്റുക.

24. Put awaye from the a frowarde mouth, and let the lippes of slaunder be farre from the.

25. നിന്റെ കണ്ണു നേരെ നോക്കട്ടെ; നിന്റെ കണ്ണിമ ചൊവ്വെ മുമ്പോട്ടു മിഴിക്കട്ടെ.

25. Let thine eyes beholde the thinge yt is right, & let thine eye lyddes loke straight before the.

26. നിന്റെ കാലുകളുടെ പാതയെ നിരപ്പാക്കുക; നിന്റെ വഴികളെല്ലാം സ്ഥിരമായിരിക്കട്ടെ.

27. ഇടത്തോട്ടോ വലത്തോട്ടോ തിരിയരുതു; നിന്റെ കാലിനെ ദോഷം വിട്ടകലുമാറാക്കുക.

27. Turne not asyde, nether to the right hande ner to the lefte, but witholde thy fote from euell.
