1. മക്കളേ, അപ്പന്റെ പ്രബോധനം കേട്ടു വിവേകം പ്രാപിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ശ്രദ്ധിപ്പിന് .

1. Hear, O ye children, the fatherly exhortation, and take good heed, that ye may learn wisdom.

2. ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു സല്ബുദ്ധി ഉപദേശിച്ചുതരുന്നു; എന്റെ ഉപദേശം നിങ്ങള് ഉപേക്ഷിക്കരുതു.

2. Yea I shall give you a good reward, if ye will not forsake my law.

3. ഞാന് എന്റെ അപ്പന്നു മകനും എന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു ഔമനയും ഏകപുത്രനും ആയിരുന്നു;

3. For when I my self was my father's dear son, and tenderly beloved of my mother,

4. അവന് എന്നെ പഠിപ്പിച്ചു, എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞതുഎന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ ഹൃദയത്തില് സംഗ്രഹിച്ചുകൊള്ക; എന്റെ കല്പനകളെ പ്രമാണിച്ചു ജീവിക്ക.

4. he taught me also, saying: Let thine heart receive my words, keep my commandments, and thou shalt live.

5. ജ്ഞാനം സമ്പാദിക്കവിവേകം നേടുക; മറക്കരുതു; എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ വിട്ടുമാറുകയുമരുതു.

5. Get thee wisdom, get thee understanding, forget not the words of my mouth, and shrink not from them.

6. അതിനെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കരുതു; അതു നിന്നെ കാക്കും; അതില് പ്രിയം വെക്കുക; അതു നിന്നെ സൂക്ഷിക്കും;

6. Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.

7. ജ്ഞാനംതന്നേ പ്രധാനം; ജ്ഞാനം സമ്പാദിക്ക; നിന്റെ സകലസമ്പാദ്യത്താലും വിവേകം നേടുക.

7. The chief point of wisdom is, that thou be willing to obtain wisdom, and before all thy goods to get the understanding.

8. അതിനെ ഉയര്ത്തുക; അതു നിന്നെ ഉയര്ത്തും; അതിനെ ആലിംഗനം ചെയ്താല് അതു നിനക്കു മാനം വരുത്തും.

8. Make much of her and she shall promote thee: Yea if thou embracest her, she shall bring thee unto honour.

9. അതു നിന്റെ തലയെ അലങ്കാരമാല അണിയിക്കും; അതു നിന്നെ ഒരു മഹത്വകിരീടം ചൂടിക്കും.

9. She shall make thee a gracious head, and garnish thee with a(the) crown of glory.

10. മകനേ കേട്ടു എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ കൈക്കൊള്ക; എന്നാല് നിനക്കു ദീര്ഘായുസ്സുണ്ടാകും.

10. Hear, my son, and receive my words, that the years of thy life may be many.

11. ജ്ഞാനത്തിന്റെ മാര്ഗ്ഗം ഞാന് നിന്നെ ഉപദേശിക്കുന്നുനേരെയുള്ള പാതയില് ഞാന് നിന്നെ നടത്തുന്നു.

11. I will shew thee, the way of wisdom, and lead thee in the right paths.

12. നടക്കുമ്പോള് നിന്റെ കാലടിക്കു ഇടുക്കം വരികയില്ല; ഔടുമ്പോള് നീ ഇടറുകയുമില്ല.

12. So that if thou goest therein, there shall no straitness hinder thee: and when thou runnest, thou shalt not fall.

13. പ്രബോധനം മുറുകെ പിടിക്ക; വിട്ടുകളയരുതു; അതിനെ കാത്തുകൊള്ക, അതു നിന്റെ ജീവനല്ലോ.

13. Take fast hold of doctrine, let her not go: keep her, for she is thy life.

14. ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ പാതയില് നീ ചെല്ലരുതു; ദുര്ജ്ജനത്തിന്റെ വഴിയില് നടക്കയുമരുതു;

14. Come not in the path of the ungodly, and walk not in the way of the wicked.

15. അതിനോടു അകന്നുനില്ക്ക; അതില് നടക്കരുതു; അതു വിട്ടുമാറി കടന്നുപോക.

15. Eschew it, and go not therein: depart aside, and pass over by it.

16. അവര് ദോഷം ചെയ്തിട്ടല്ലാതെ ഉറങ്ങുകയില്ല; വല്ലവരെയും വീഴിച്ചിട്ടല്ലാതെ അവര്ക്കും ഉറക്കം വരികയില്ല.

16. For they can not sleep, except they have first done some mischief: neither take they any rest, except they have first done some harm.

17. ദുഷ്ടതയുടെ ആഹാരംകൊണ്ടു അവര് ഉപജീവിക്കുന്നു; ബലാല്ക്കാരത്തിന്റെ വീഞ്ഞു അവന് പാനം ചെയ്യുന്നു.

17. For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of robbery.

18. നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ പാതയോ പ്രഭാതത്തിന്റെ വെളിച്ചംപോലെ; അതു നട്ടുച്ചവരെ അധികമധികം ശോഭിച്ചു വരുന്നു.

18. The path of the righteous shineth as the light, and is ever brighter and brighter unto the perfect day.

19. ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെവഴി അന്ധകാരംപോലെയാകുന്നു; ഏതിങ്കല് തട്ടി വീഴും എന്നു അവര് അറിയുന്നില്ല.

19. But the way of the ungodly is as the darkness, wherein men fall, or they be aware.(awarre)

20. മകനേ, എന്റെ വചനങ്ങള്ക്കു ശ്രദ്ധതരിക; എന്റെ മൊഴികള്ക്കു നിന്റെ ചെവി ചായിക്ക.

20. My son, mark my words, and incline thine ear unto my sayings.

21. അവ നിന്റെ ദൃഷ്ടിയില്നിന്നു മാറിപ്പോകരുതു; നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ നടുവില് അവയെ സൂക്ഷിച്ചുവെക്കുക.

21. Let them not depart from thine eyes, keep them even in the middest of thine heart.

22. അവയെ കിട്ടുന്നവര്ക്കും അവ ജീവനും അവരുടെ സര്വ്വദേഹത്തിന്നും സൌഖ്യവും ആകുന്നു.

22. For they are life unto all those that find them, and health unto all their bodies.

23. സകലജാഗ്രതയോടുംകൂടെ നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തെ കാത്തുകൊള്ക; ജീവന്റെ ഉത്ഭവം അതില്നിന്നല്ലോ ആകുന്നതു.

23. Keep thine heart with all diligence, for there upon hangeth life.

24. വായുടെ വക്രത നിങ്കല്നിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളക; അധരങ്ങളുടെ വികടം നിങ്കല്നിന്നകറ്റുക.

24. Put away from thee a froward mouth, and let the lips of slander(sclaunder) be far from thee.

25. നിന്റെ കണ്ണു നേരെ നോക്കട്ടെ; നിന്റെ കണ്ണിമ ചൊവ്വെ മുമ്പോട്ടു മിഴിക്കട്ടെ.

25. Let thine eyes behold the thing that is right, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.

26. നിന്റെ കാലുകളുടെ പാതയെ നിരപ്പാക്കുക; നിന്റെ വഴികളെല്ലാം സ്ഥിരമായിരിക്കട്ടെ.

26. Ponder the path of thy feet, so shall all thy ways be sure.

27. ഇടത്തോട്ടോ വലത്തോട്ടോ തിരിയരുതു; നിന്റെ കാലിനെ ദോഷം വിട്ടകലുമാറാക്കുക.

27. Turn not aside, neither to the right hand nor to the left, but withhold thy foot from evil.
