1. ശലോമോന്റെ ഉത്തമഗീതം.

1. The Song of Songs, that [is] Solomon's.

2. അവന് തന്റെ അധരങ്ങളാല് എന്നെ ചുംബിക്കട്ടെ; നിന്റെ പ്രേമം വീഞ്ഞിലും രസകരമാകുന്നു. നിന്റെ തൈലം സൌരഭ്യമായതു; നിന്റെ നാമം പകര്ന്ന തൈലംപോലെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു കന്യകമാര് നിന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു.

2. Let him kiss me with kisses of his mouth, For better [are] thy loves than wine.

3. നിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ എന്നെ വലിക്ക; നാം ഔടിപ്പോക; രാജാവു എന്നെ പള്ളിയറകളിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുവന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞങ്ങള് നിന്നില് ഉല്ലസിച്ചാനന്ദിക്കും; നിന്റെ പ്രേമത്തെ വീഞ്ഞിനെക്കാള് ശ്ളാഘിക്കും; നിന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നതു ഉചിതം തന്നേ.

3. For fragrance [are] thy perfumes good. Perfume emptied out -- thy name, Therefore have virgins loved thee!

4. യെരൂശലേംപുത്രിമാരേ, ഞാന് കറുത്തവള് എങ്കിലും കേദാര്യകൂടാരങ്ങളെപ്പോലെയും ശലോമോന്റെ തിരശ്ശീലകളെപ്പോലെയും അഴകുള്ളവള് ആകുന്നു.

4. Draw me: after thee we run, The king hath brought me into his inner chambers, We do joy and rejoice in thee, We mention thy loves more than wine, Uprightly they have loved thee!

5. എനിക്കു ഇരുള്നിറം പറ്റിയിരിക്കയാലും ഞാന് വെയില്കൊണ്ടു കറുത്തിരിക്കയാലും എന്നെ തുറിച്ചുനോക്കരുതു. എന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ പുത്രന്മാര് എന്നോടു കോപിച്ചു. എന്നെ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടങ്ങള്ക്കു കാവലാക്കി; എന്റെ സ്വന്ത മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം ഞാന് കാത്തിട്ടില്ലതാനും.

5. Dark [am] I, and comely, daughters of Jerusalem, As tents of Kedar, as curtains of Solomon.

6. എന്റെ പ്രാണപ്രിയനേ, പറഞ്ഞുതരികനീ ആടുകളെ മേയിക്കുന്നതു എവിടെ? ഉച്ചെക്കു കിടത്തുന്നതു എവിടെ? നിന്റെ ചങ്ങാതിമാരുടെ ആട്ടിന് കൂട്ടങ്ങള്ക്കരികെ ഞാന് മുഖം മൂടിയവളെപ്പോലെ ഇരിക്കുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു?

6. Fear me not, because I [am] very dark, Because the sun hath scorched me, The sons of my mother were angry with me, They made me keeper of the vineyards, My vineyard -- my own -- I have not kept.

7. സ്ത്രീകളില് അതിസുന്ദരിയേ, നീ അറിയുന്നില്ലെങ്കില് ആടുകളുടെ കാല്ചുവടു തുടര്ന്നുചെന്നു ഇടയന്മാരുടെ കൂടാരങ്ങളുടെ അരികെ നിന്റെ കുഞ്ഞാടുകളെ മേയിക്ക.

7. Declare to me, thou whom my soul hath loved, Where thou delightest, Where thou liest down at noon, For why am I as one veiled, By the ranks of thy companions?

8. എന്റെ പ്രിയേ, ഫറവോന്റെ രഥത്തിന്നു കെട്ടുന്ന പെണ്കുതിരയോടു ഞാന് നിന്നെ ഉപമിക്കുന്നു.

8. If thou knowest not, O fair among women, Get thee forth by the traces of the flock, And feed thy kids by the shepherds' dwellings!

9. നിന്റെ കവിള്ത്തടങ്ങള് രത്നാവലികൊണ്ടും നിന്റെ കഴുത്തു മുത്തുമാലകൊണ്ടും ശോഭിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

9. To my joyous one in chariots of Pharaoh, I have compared thee, my friend,

10. ഞങ്ങള് നിനക്കു വെള്ളിമണികളോടുകൂടിയ സുവര്ണ്ണസരപ്പളി ഉണ്ടാക്കിത്തരാം.

10. Comely have been thy cheeks with garlands, Thy neck with chains.

11. രാജാവു ഭക്ഷണത്തിന്നിരിക്കുമ്പോള് എന്റെ ജടാമാംസി സുഗന്ധം പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കുന്നു.

11. Garlands of gold we do make for thee, With studs of silver!

12. എന്റെ പ്രിയന് എനിക്കു സ്തനങ്ങളുടെ മദ്ധ്യേ കിടക്കുന്ന മൂറിന് കെട്ടുപോലെയാകുന്നു.

12. While the king [is] in his circle, My spikenard hath given its fragrance.

13. എന്റെ പ്രിയന് എനിക്കു ഏന് ഗെദി മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടങ്ങളിലെ മയിലാഞ്ചിപ്പൂകൂലപോലെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

13. A bundle of myrrh [is] my beloved to me, Between my breasts it lodgeth.

14. എന്റെ പ്രിയേ, നീ സുന്ദരി, നീ സുന്ദരി തന്നേ; നിന്റെ കണ്ണു പ്രാവിന്റെ കണ്ണുപോലെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

14. A cluster of cypress [is] my beloved to me, In the vineyards of En-Gedi!

15. എന്റെ പ്രിയനേ, നീ സുന്ദരന് , നീ മനോഹരന് ; നമ്മുടെ കിടക്കയും പച്ചയാകുന്നു.

15. Lo, thou [art] fair, my friend, Lo, thou [art] fair, thine eyes [are] doves!

16. നമ്മുടെ വീട്ടിന്റെ ഉത്തരം ദേവദാരുവും കഴുക്കോല് സരളവൃക്ഷവും ആകുന്നു.

16. Lo, thou [art] fair, my love, yea, pleasant, Yea, our couch [is] green,
