1. സ്ത്രീകളില് അതിസുന്ദരിയായുള്ളോവേ, നിന്റെ പ്രിയന് എവിടെ പോയിരിക്കുന്നു? നിന്റെ പ്രിയന് ഏതുവഴിക്കു തിരിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു? ഞങ്ങള് നിന്നോടുകൂടെ അവനെ അന്വേഷിക്കാം.

1. DAUGHTERS OF JERUSALEM Whither hath thy beloved, gone, thou most beautiful among women? whither hath thy beloved turned him aside? That we may seek him with thee.

2. തോട്ടങ്ങളില് മേയിപ്പാനും തമാരപ്പൂക്കളെ പറിപ്പാനും എന്റെ പ്രിയന് തന്റെ തോട്ടത്തില് സുഗന്ധസസ്യങ്ങളുടെ തടങ്ങളിലേക്കു ഇറങ്ങിപ്പോയിരിക്കുന്നു.

2. SHE My beloved, is gone down to his garden, to the beds of balsam, to pasture in the gardens, and to gather lilies,

3. ഞാന് എന്റെ പ്രിയന്നുള്ളവള്; എന്റെ പ്രിയന് എനിക്കുള്ളവന് ; അവന് താമരകളുടെ ഇടയില് മേയക്കുന്നു.

3. I, am, my beloved's, and, my beloved, is mine, he that pastureth among lilies.

4. എന്റെ പ്രിയേ, നീ തിര്സ്സാപോലെ സൌന്ദര്യമുള്ളവള്; യെരൂശലേംപോലെ മനോഹര, കൊടികളോടു കൂടിയ സൈന്യംപോലെ ഭയങ്കര.

4. HE Beautiful, art thou, my fair one, as Tirzah, comely, as Jerusalem, majestic as bannered hosts!

5. നിന്റെ കണ്ണു എങ്കല്നിന്നു തിരിക്ക; അതു എന്നെ ഭ്രമിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ തലമുടി ഗിലെയാദ് മലഞ്ചെരിവില് കിടക്കുന്ന കോലാട്ടിന് കൂട്ടംപോലെയാകുന്നു.

5. Turn away thine eyes from me, for, they, have excited me, Thy hair, is like a flock of goats, that are reclining on the sides of Mount Gilead:

6. നിന്റെ പല്ലു കുളിച്ചു കയറിവരുന്ന ആടുകളെപ്പോലെയിരിക്കുന്നു; അവയില് ഒന്നും മച്ചിയായിരിക്കാതെ എല്ലാം ഇരട്ട പ്രസവിക്കുന്നു.

6. Thy teeth, are like a flock of sheep which have come up from the washing-place, whereof, all of them, are twin-bearers, and bereaved, is there none among them:

7. നിന്റെ ചെന്നികള് നിന്റെ മൂടുപടത്തിന്റെ ഉള്ളില് മാതളപ്പഴത്തിന്റെ ഖണ്ഡംപോലെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

7. Like a slice of pomegranate, are thy temples, from behind thy veil:

8. അറുപതു രാജ്ഞികളും എണ്പതു വെപ്പാട്ടികളും അസംഖ്യം കന്യകമാരും ഉണ്ടല്ലോ.

8. Threescore, are the queens, and, fourscore, are the concubines, and, virgins, there are, without number.

9. എന്റെ പ്രാവും എന്റെ നിഷ്കളങ്കയുമായവളോ ഒരുത്തി മാത്രം; അവള് തന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു ഏകപുത്രിയും തന്നെ പ്രസവിച്ചവള്ക്കു ഔമനയും ആകുന്നു; കന്യകമാര് അവളെ കണ്ടു ഭാഗ്യവതി എന്നു വാഴ്ത്തും; രാജ്ഞികളും വെപ്പാട്ടികളും കൂടെ അവളെ പുകഴ്ത്തും.

9. One alone, is my dove, my perfect one, one alone, was she to her mother, Pure, was she to her that bare her, The daughters, have seen her, and pronounced her happy, Queens and concubines, and they have praised her. ****

10. അരുണോദയംപോലെ ശോഭയും ചന്ദ്രനെപ്പോലെ സൌന്ദര്യവും സൂര്യനെപ്പോലെ നിര്മ്മലതയും കൊടികളോടു കൂടിയ സൈന്യംപോലെ ഭയങ്കരത്വവും ഉള്ളോരിവള് ആര്?

10. THEY Who is this, that looketh forth like the dawn, beautiful as the moon, pure as the sun, majestic as bannered hosts?

11. ഞാന് തോട്ടിന്നരികെയുള്ള സസ്യങ്ങളെ കാണേണ്ടതിന്നും മുന്തിരിവള്ളി തളിര്ക്കയും മാതളനാരകം പൂക്കയും ചെയ്തുവോ എന്നു നോക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും അക്രോത്ത് തോട്ടത്തിലേക്കു ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു.

11. HE To the garden of nuts, I went down, to look at the fresh shoots of the ravine, to see whether: had burst forth the vine, had blossomed the pomegranate:

12. എന്റെ അഭിലാഷം ഹേതുവായി ഞാന് അറിയാതെ എന്റെ പ്രഭുജനത്തിന് രഥങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് എത്തി.

12. I know not how it was , my soul, set for me the chariots of my willing people!
