1. ദമ്മേശെക്കിനെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള പ്രവാചകംഇതാ, ദമ്മേശെക് ഒരു പട്ടണമായിരിക്കാതവണ്ണം നീങ്ങിപ്പോയിരിക്കുന്നു; അതു ശൂന്യകൂമ്പാരമായ്തീരും.

1. The burden of Damascus: Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruined heap.

2. അരോവേര്പട്ടണങ്ങള് നിര്ജ്ജനമായിരിക്കുന്നു; അവ ആട്ടിന് കൂട്ടങ്ങള്ക്കു ആയിരിക്കും; ആരും പേടിപ്പിക്കാതെ അവ അവിടെ മേഞ്ഞുകിടക്കും.

2. The cities of Aroer are forsaken; now they are for flocks; they lie down and no one terrifies them.

3. എഫ്രയീമില് കോട്ടയും ദമ്മേശെക്കില് രാജത്വവും ഇല്ലാതെയാകും; അരാമില് ശേഷിച്ചവര് യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളുടെ മഹത്വംപോലെയാകും എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

3. And the fortress shall cease from Ephraim; and the kingdom from Damascus and the rest of Syria. They shall be as the glory of the sons of Israel, declares Jehovah of Hosts.

4. അന്നാളില് യാക്കോബിന്റെ മഹത്വം ക്ഷയിക്കും; അവന്റെ ദേഹപുഷ്ടി മെലിഞ്ഞു പോകും.

4. And it shall be in that day, Jacob's glory shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall be made lean.

5. അതു കൊയ്ത്തുകാരന് വിളചേര്ത്തു പിടിച്ചു കൈകൊണ്ടു കതിരുകളെ കൊയ്യും പോലെയും ഒരുത്തന് രഫായീംതാഴ്വരയില് കതിരുകളെ പെറുക്കുംപോലെയും ആയിരിക്കും.

5. And it shall be as the reaping of the harvest grain, and his arm reaps the ears. And it shall be as he who gathers ears in the Valley of the Giants.

6. ഒലിവു തല്ലുമ്പോള് വൃക്ഷാഗ്രത്തില് രണ്ടുമൂന്നു കായോ ഫലവൃക്ഷത്തിന്റെ കൊമ്പുകളില് നാലഞ്ചു കായോ ഇങ്ങനെ കാലാ പറിപ്പാന് ചിലതു ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കും എന്നു യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

6. Yet gleaning grapes shall be left in it, as the shaking of an olive tree; two or three ripe olives in the top of the uppermost branch; four or five in the fruit tree branches, declares Jehovah God of Israel.

7. അന്നാളില് മനുഷ്യന് തന്റെ കൈപ്പണിയായ ബലിപീഠങ്ങളിലേക്കു തിരിയാതെയും വിരലുകളാല് ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ അശേരാവിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെയും സൂര്യസ്തംഭങ്ങളെയും നോക്കാതെയും

7. In that day a man shall gaze to his Maker; and his eyes shall look to the Holy One of Israel.

8. തന്റെ സ്രഷ്ടാവിങ്കലേക്കു തിരികയും അവന്റെ കണ്ണു യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ പരിശുദ്ധനെ നോക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും.

8. And he shall not gaze to the altars, the work of his hands; and he will not see what his fingers have made, even the Asherahs, and the sun pillars.

9. അന്നാളില് അവന്റെ ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങള് അമോര്യ്യരും ഹിവ്യരും യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളുടെ മുമ്പില് നിന്നു ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചുപോയ നിര്ജ്ജനദേശം പോലെയാകും. അവ ശൂന്യമായ്തീരും.

9. In that day his fortified cities shall be as a thing left in the forest, or the branch that they leave, from before the sons of Israel. And it will become a desolation.

10. നിന്റെ രക്ഷയുടെ ദൈവത്തെ നീ മറന്നു നിന്റെ ബലമുള്ള പാറയെ ഔര്ക്കാതെയിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു നീ മനോഹരമായ തോട്ടങ്ങളെ ഉണ്ടാക്കി അവയില് അന്യദേശത്തുനിന്നുള്ള വള്ളികളെ നടുന്നു.

10. Because you have forgotten the God of your salvation, and you did not remember the Rock of your strength. On account of this you shall plant pleasing plants, and shall sow it a foreign shoot.

11. നടുന്ന ദിവസത്തില് നീ അതിന്നു വേലി കെട്ടുകയും രാവിലേ നിന്റെ നടുതല പൂക്കുമാറാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു; എങ്കിലും കഠിനമായ മുറിവും തീരാത്ത വ്യസനവും തട്ടുന്ന ദിവസത്തില് കൊയ്ത്തു പോയ്പോകും.

11. In the day of your planting you fence it in; in the morning you make your seed sprout; the harvest is a heap in the day of sickness and incurable pain.

12. അയ്യോ, അനേകജാതികളുടെ മുഴക്കം; അവര് കടലിന്റെ മുഴക്കംപോലെ മുഴങ്ങുന്നു! അയ്യോ, വംശങ്ങളുടെ ഇരെച്ചല്! അവര് പെരുവെള്ളങ്ങളുടെ ഇരെച്ചല്പോലെ ഇരെക്കുന്നു.

12. Woe to the multitude of many peoples; they roar like the roar of seas; and the crash of nations, they crash like the crash of mighty waters!

13. വംശങ്ങള് പെരുവെള്ളങ്ങളുടെ ഇരെച്ചല്പോലെ ഇരെക്കുന്നു; എങ്കിലും അവന് അവരെ ശാസിക്കും; അപ്പോള് അവര് ദൂരത്തേക്കു ഔടിപ്പോകും; കാറ്റിന്മുമ്പില് പര്വ്വതങ്ങളിലെ പതിര്പോലെയും കൊടുങ്കാറ്റിന് മുമ്പില് ചുഴന്നുപറക്കുന്ന പൊടിപോലെയും പാറിപ്പോകും.

13. The nations shall crash like the crashing of many waters, but He rebukes it, and it flees far away; yea, it is driven like the chaff of mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before a tempest.

14. സന്ധ്യാസമയത്തു ഇതാ, ഭീതി! പ്രഭാതത്തിന്നു മുമ്പെ അവന് ഇല്ലാതെയായി! ഇതു നമ്മെ കൊള്ളയിടുന്നവരുടെ ഔഹരിയും നമ്മോടു പിടിച്ചുപറിക്കുന്നവരുടെ പങ്കും ആകുന്നു.

14. At the time of evening, behold, terror! Before it is morning, it shall not be. This is the portion of those robbing us, and the lot of those plundering us.
