1. എഫ്രയീമിലെ കുടിയാന്മാരുടെ ഡംഭകിരീടത്തിന്നും വീഞ്ഞുകുടിച്ചു ലഹരിപിടിച്ചവരുടെ ഫലവത്തായ താഴ്വരയിലെ കുന്നിന്മേല് വാടിപ്പോകുന്ന പുഷ്പമായ അവന്റെ ഭംഗിയുള്ള അലങ്കാരത്തിന്നും അയ്യോ, കഷ്ടം!

1. Woe to the majestic garland of the drunkard Ephraim, To the fading blooms of his glorious beauty, on the head of him who is stupefied with wine.

6. A spirit of justice to him who sits in judgment, And strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate.

17. I will make of right a measuring line, of justice a level.-- Hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and waters shall flood the hiding place.

18. മരണത്തോടുള്ള നിങ്ങളുടെ സഖ്യത ദുര്ബ്ബലമാകും; പാതാളത്തോടുള്ള നിങ്ങളുടെ ഉടമ്പടി നിലനില്ക്കയില്ല; പ്രവഹിക്കുന്ന ബാധ ആക്രമിക്കുമ്പോള് നിങ്ങള് തകര്ന്നു പോകും.

18. Your covenant with death shall be canceled and your pact with the nether world shall not stand. When the overwhelming scourge passes, you shall be trampled down by it.

19. അതു ആക്രമിക്കുമ്പോഴൊക്കെയും നിങ്ങളെ പിടിക്കും; അതു രാവിലെതോറും രാവും പകലും ആക്രമിക്കും; അതിന്റെ ശ്രുതി കേള്ക്കുന്ന മാത്രെക്കു നടുക്കം ഉണ്ടാകും.

19. Whenever it passes, it shall take you; morning after morning it shall pass, By day and by night; terror alone shall convey the message.

20. കിടക്ക ഒരുത്തന്നു നിവിര്ന്നു കിടപ്പാന് നിളം പോരാത്തതും പുതെപ്പു പുതെപ്പാന് വീതി പോരാത്തതും ആകും.

20. For the bed shall be too short to stretch out in, and the cover too narrow to wrap in.

21. യഹോവ തന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തിയെ തന്റെ ആശ്ചര്യപ്രവൃത്തിയെ തന്നേ, ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നും തന്റെ ക്രിയയെ, തന്റെ അപൂര്വ്വക്രിയയെ തന്നേ നടത്തേണ്ടതിന്നും പെറാസീംമലയില് എന്നപോലെ എഴുന്നേല്ക്കയും ഗിബെയോന് താഴ്വരയില് എന്നപോലെ കോപിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

21. For the LORD shall rise up as on Mount Perazim, bestir himself as in the Valley of Gibeon, To carry out his work, his singular work, to perform his deed, his strange deed.

22. ആകയാല് നിങ്ങളുടെ ബന്ധനങ്ങള് മുറുകിപ്പോകാതെയിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങള് പരിഹാസികള് ആയിരിക്കരുതു; സര്വ്വഭൂമിയിലും വരുവാന് നിര്ണ്ണയിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള ഒരു സംഹാരത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ഞാന് സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവിങ്കല്നിന്നു കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

22. Now, be arrogant no more lest your bonds be tightened, For I have heard from the Lord, the GOD of hosts, the destruction decreed for the whole earth.

23. ചെവി തന്നു എന്റെ വാക്കു കേള്പ്പിന് ; ശ്രദ്ധവെച്ചു എന്റെ വചനം കേള്പ്പിന് .

23. Give ear and hear my voice, pay attention and listen to what I say:

24. വിതെപ്പാന് ഉഴുന്നവന് ഇടവിടാതെ ഉഴുതുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നുവോ? അവന് എല്ലായ്പോഴും നിലം കീറി കട്ട ഉടെച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നുവോ?

24. Is the plowman forever plowing, always loosening and harrowing his land for planting?

25. നിലം നിരപ്പാക്കീട്ടു അവന് കരിഞ്ജീരകം വിതെക്കയും ജീരകം വിതറുകയും കോതമ്പു ഉഴവു പൊളിയിലും യവം അതിന്നുള്ള സ്ഥലത്തും ചെറുകോതമ്പു അതിന്റെ അറ്റത്തും ഇടുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നില്ലയോ?

25. When he has leveled the surface, does he not scatter gith and sow cumin, Put in wheat and barley, with spelt as its border?

26. അങ്ങനെ അവന്റെ ദൈവം അവനെ യഥാക്രമം ഉപദേശിച്ചു പഠിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

26. He has learned this rule, instructed by his God.

27. കരിഞ്ജീരകം മെതിവണ്ടികൊണ്ടു മെതിക്കുന്നില്ല; ജീരകത്തിന്മേല് വണ്ടിയുടെ ചക്രം ഉരുട്ടുന്നതുമില്ല; കരിഞ്ജീരകം വടികൊണ്ടും ജീരകം കോല്കൊണ്ടും തല്ലിയെടുക്കയത്രേ ചെയ്യുന്നതു.

27. Gith is not threshed with a sledge, nor does a cartwheel roll over cumin. But gith is beaten out with a staff, and cumin crushed for food with a rod.

28. മെതിക്കയില് ധാന്യം ചതെച്ചുകളയാറുണ്ടോ? അവന് അതിനെ എല്ലായ്പോഴും മെതിക്കയും വണ്ടിയുടെ ചക്രത്തെയും കുതിരകളെയും അതിന്മേല് തെളിക്കയും ചെയ്കയില്ലല്ലോ; അവന് അതിനെ ചതെച്ചുകളകയില്ല.

28. No, he does not thresh it unendingly, nor does he crush it with his noisy cartwheels and horses.

29. അതും സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയിങ്കല്നിന്നു വരുന്നു; അവന് ആലോചനയില് അതിശയവും ജ്ഞാനത്തില് ഉല്കൃഷ്ടതയും ഉള്ളവനാകുന്നു.

29. This too comes from the LORD of hosts; wonderful is his counsel and great his wisdom.
