1. എഫ്രയീമിലെ കുടിയാന്മാരുടെ ഡംഭകിരീടത്തിന്നും വീഞ്ഞുകുടിച്ചു ലഹരിപിടിച്ചവരുടെ ഫലവത്തായ താഴ്വരയിലെ കുന്നിന്മേല് വാടിപ്പോകുന്ന പുഷ്പമായ അവന്റെ ഭംഗിയുള്ള അലങ്കാരത്തിന്നും അയ്യോ, കഷ്ടം!

1. Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty is a fading flower, which is on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome with wine!

2. ഇതാ, ശക്തിയും ബലവുമുള്ള ഒരുത്തന് കര്ത്താവിങ്കല്നിന്നു വരുന്നു; തകര്ത്ത കൊടുങ്കാറ്റോടുകൂടിയ കന്മഴപോലെയും കവിഞ്ഞൊഴുകുന്ന മഹാ ജലപ്രവാഹം പോലെയും അവന് അവരെ വെറുങ്കൈകൊണ്ടു നിലത്തു തള്ളിയിടും.

2. Behold, the Lord hath a mighty and strong one, which as a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing, shall cast down to the earth with the hand.

3. എഫ്രയീമിലെ കുടിയാന്മാരുടെ ഡംഭകിരീടം അവന് കാല്കൊണ്ടു ചവിട്ടിക്കളയും.

3. The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, shall be trodden under feet;

4. ഫലവത്തായ താഴ്വരയിലെ കുന്നിന്മേല് വാടിപ്പോകുന്ന പുഷ്പമായ അവന്റെ ഭംഗിയുള്ള അലങ്കാരം ഫലശേഖരകാലത്തിന്നു മുമ്പെ പഴുത്തതും കാണുന്നവന് ഉടനെ പറിഞ്ഞുതിന്നുകളയുന്നതുമായ അത്തിപ്പഴം പോലെ ഇരിക്കും.

4. and the glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fat valley, shall be a fading flower and as the early fruit before the summer, which when he that looketh upon it seeth; while it is yet in his hand he eateth it up.

5. അന്നാളില് സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ തന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ ശേഷിപ്പിന്നു മഹത്വമുള്ളോരു കിരീടവും ഭംഗിയുള്ളോരു മുടിയും

5. In that day shall the LORD of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty unto the residue of His people,

6. ന്യായവിസ്താരം കഴിപ്പാന് ഇരിക്കുന്നവന്നു ന്യായത്തിന്റെ ആത്മാവും പട്ടണവാതില്ക്കല്വെച്ചു പടയെ മടക്കിക്കളയുന്നവര്ക്കും വീര്യബലവും ആയിരിക്കും.

6. and for a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, and for strength to them that turn the battle to the gate.

7. എന്നാല് ഇവരും വീഞ്ഞു കുടിച്ചു ചാഞ്ചാടുകയും മദ്യപിച്ചു ആടിനടക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു; പുരോഹിതനും പ്രവാചകനും മദ്യപാനം ചെയ്തു ചാഞ്ചാടുകയും വീഞ്ഞുകുടിച്ചു മത്തരാകയും മദ്യപിച്ചു ആടിനടക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു; അവര് ദര്ശനത്തില് പിഴെച്ചു ന്യായവിധിയില് തെറ്റിപ്പോകുന്നു.

7. But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way. The priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink; they are swallowed up by wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.

8. മേശകള് ഒക്കെയും ഛര്ദ്ദിയും അഴുക്കുംകൊണ്ടു നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; ഒരു സ്ഥലവും ശേഷിപ്പില്ല.

8. For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, so that there is no place clean.

9. “ആര്ക്കാകുന്നു ഇവന് പരിജ്ഞാനം ഉപദേശിപ്പാന് പോകുന്നതു? ആരെയാകുന്നു അവന് പ്രസംഗം ഗ്രഹിപ്പിപ്പാന് പോകുന്നതു? പാലുകുടി മാറിയവരെയോ? മുലകുടി വിട്ടവരെയോ?

9. 'Whom shall he teach knowledge? And whom shall he make to understand doctrine? Them that are weaned from the milk and drawn from the breasts.

10. ചട്ടത്തിന്മേല് ചട്ടം, ചട്ടത്തിന്മേല് ചട്ടം; സൂത്രത്തിന്മേല് സൂത്രം, സൂത്രത്തിന്മേല് സൂത്രം; ഇവിടെ അല്പം, അവിടെ അല്പം” എന്നു അവര് പറയുന്നു അതേ,

10. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little and there a little.'

11. വിക്കിവിക്കി പറയുന്ന അധരങ്ങളാലും അന്യഭാഷയിലും അവന് ഈ ജനത്തോടു സംസാരിക്കും.

11. For with stammering lips and another tongue will He speak to this people,

12. ഇതാകുന്നു സ്വസ്ഥത; ക്ഷീണിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നവന്നു സ്വസ്ഥത കൊടുപ്പിന് ; ഇതാകുന്നു വിശ്രാമം എന്നു അവര് അവരോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു എങ്കിലും കേള്പ്പാന് അവര്ക്കും മനസ്സില്ലായിരുന്നു.

12. to whom He said, 'This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest,' and, 'This is the refreshing' -- yet they would not hear.

13. ആകയാല് അവര് ചെന്നു പിറകോട്ടുവീണു തകര്ന്നു കുടുക്കില് അകപ്പെട്ടു പിടിപെടേണ്ടതിന്നു, യഹോവയുടെ വചനം അവര്ക്കും “ചട്ടത്തിന്മേല് ചട്ടം, ചട്ടത്തിന്മേല് ചട്ടം, സൂത്രത്തിന്മേല് സൂത്രം, സൂത്രത്തിന്മേല് സൂത്രം, ഇവിടെ അല്പം അവിടെ അല്പം” എന്നു ആയിരിക്കും.

13. But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little and there a little, that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken and snared and taken.

14. അതുകൊണ്ടു യെരൂശലേമിലെ ഈ ജനത്തിന്റെ അധിപതികളായ പരിഹാസികളേ, യഹോവയുടെ വചനം കേള്പ്പിന് .

14. Therefore hear the word of the LORD, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem,

15. ഞങ്ങള് മരണത്തോടു സഖ്യതയും പാതാളത്തോടു ഉടമ്പടിയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; പ്രവഹിക്കുന്ന ബാധ ആക്രമിക്കുമ്പോള് അതു ഞങ്ങളോടു അടുത്തു വരികയില്ല; ഞങ്ങള് ഭോഷ്കിനെ ശരണമാക്കി വ്യാജത്തില് ഒളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് പറഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ.

15. because ye have said, 'We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we in agreement. When the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us; for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves.'

16. അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവു ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഇതാ, ഞാന് സീയോനില് ഉറപ്പുള്ള അടിസ്ഥാനമായിട്ടു ശോധനചെയ്ത കല്ലും വിലയേറിയ മൂലക്കല്ലും ആയി ഒരു അടിസ്ഥാനക്കല്ലു ഇട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നവന് ഔടിപ്പോകയില്ല.

16. Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD: 'Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; he that believeth shall not make haste.

17. ഞാന് ന്യായത്തെ അളവുചരടും നീതിയെ തൂക്കുകട്ടയും ആക്കിവേക്കും; കന്മഴ വ്യാജശരണത്തെ നീക്കിക്കളയും; വെള്ളം ഒളിപ്പിടത്തെ ഒഴിക്കി കൊണ്ടുപോകും.

17. Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet; and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.

18. മരണത്തോടുള്ള നിങ്ങളുടെ സഖ്യത ദുര്ബ്ബലമാകും; പാതാളത്തോടുള്ള നിങ്ങളുടെ ഉടമ്പടി നിലനില്ക്കയില്ല; പ്രവഹിക്കുന്ന ബാധ ആക്രമിക്കുമ്പോള് നിങ്ങള് തകര്ന്നു പോകും.

18. And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.

19. അതു ആക്രമിക്കുമ്പോഴൊക്കെയും നിങ്ങളെ പിടിക്കും; അതു രാവിലെതോറും രാവും പകലും ആക്രമിക്കും; അതിന്റെ ശ്രുതി കേള്ക്കുന്ന മാത്രെക്കു നടുക്കം ഉണ്ടാകും.

19. From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you, for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night; and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report.'

20. കിടക്ക ഒരുത്തന്നു നിവിര്ന്നു കിടപ്പാന് നിളം പോരാത്തതും പുതെപ്പു പുതെപ്പാന് വീതി പോരാത്തതും ആകും.

20. For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it, and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it.

21. യഹോവ തന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തിയെ തന്റെ ആശ്ചര്യപ്രവൃത്തിയെ തന്നേ, ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നും തന്റെ ക്രിയയെ, തന്റെ അപൂര്വ്വക്രിയയെ തന്നേ നടത്തേണ്ടതിന്നും പെറാസീംമലയില് എന്നപോലെ എഴുന്നേല്ക്കയും ഗിബെയോന് താഴ്വരയില് എന്നപോലെ കോപിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

21. For the LORD shall rise up as in Mount Perazim; He shall be wroth as in the Valley of Gibeon, that He may do His work, His strange work, and bring to pass His act, His strange act.

22. ആകയാല് നിങ്ങളുടെ ബന്ധനങ്ങള് മുറുകിപ്പോകാതെയിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങള് പരിഹാസികള് ആയിരിക്കരുതു; സര്വ്വഭൂമിയിലും വരുവാന് നിര്ണ്ണയിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള ഒരു സംഹാരത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ഞാന് സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവിങ്കല്നിന്നു കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

22. Now therefore be ye not mockers, lest your bonds be made strong; for I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts a consuming even determined upon the whole earth.

23. ചെവി തന്നു എന്റെ വാക്കു കേള്പ്പിന് ; ശ്രദ്ധവെച്ചു എന്റെ വചനം കേള്പ്പിന് .

23. Give ye ear and hear my voice; hearken and hear my speech.

24. വിതെപ്പാന് ഉഴുന്നവന് ഇടവിടാതെ ഉഴുതുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നുവോ? അവന് എല്ലായ്പോഴും നിലം കീറി കട്ട ഉടെച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നുവോ?

24. Doth the plowman plow all day to sow? Doth he open and break the clods of his ground?

25. നിലം നിരപ്പാക്കീട്ടു അവന് കരിഞ്ജീരകം വിതെക്കയും ജീരകം വിതറുകയും കോതമ്പു ഉഴവു പൊളിയിലും യവം അതിന്നുള്ള സ്ഥലത്തും ചെറുകോതമ്പു അതിന്റെ അറ്റത്തും ഇടുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നില്ലയോ?

25. When he hath made plain the face thereof, doth he not cast abroad the dill and scatter the cummin, and cast in the principal wheat and the appointed barley and the rye in their place?

26. അങ്ങനെ അവന്റെ ദൈവം അവനെ യഥാക്രമം ഉപദേശിച്ചു പഠിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

26. For his God doth instruct him to discretion, and doth teach him.

27. കരിഞ്ജീരകം മെതിവണ്ടികൊണ്ടു മെതിക്കുന്നില്ല; ജീരകത്തിന്മേല് വണ്ടിയുടെ ചക്രം ഉരുട്ടുന്നതുമില്ല; കരിഞ്ജീരകം വടികൊണ്ടും ജീരകം കോല്കൊണ്ടും തല്ലിയെടുക്കയത്രേ ചെയ്യുന്നതു.

27. For the dill is not threshed with a threshing instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned about upon the cummin; but the dill is beaten out with a staff and the cummin with a rod.

28. മെതിക്കയില് ധാന്യം ചതെച്ചുകളയാറുണ്ടോ? അവന് അതിനെ എല്ലായ്പോഴും മെതിക്കയും വണ്ടിയുടെ ചക്രത്തെയും കുതിരകളെയും അതിന്മേല് തെളിക്കയും ചെയ്കയില്ലല്ലോ; അവന് അതിനെ ചതെച്ചുകളകയില്ല.

28. Bread corn is beaten, because he will not ever be threshing it, nor break it with the wheel of his cart, nor bruise it with his horsemen.

29. അതും സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയിങ്കല്നിന്നു വരുന്നു; അവന് ആലോചനയില് അതിശയവും ജ്ഞാനത്തില് ഉല്കൃഷ്ടതയും ഉള്ളവനാകുന്നു.

29. This also cometh forth from the LORD of hosts, who is wonderful in counsel and excellent in working.
