1. ആ കാലത്തു ഹിസ്കീയാവിന്നു മരിക്കത്തക്ക രോഗം പിടിച്ചു; ആമോസിന്റെ മകനായ യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകന് അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു അവനോടുനിന്റെ ഗൃഹകാര്യം ക്രമത്തിലാക്കുക; നീ മരിച്ചുപോകും; സൌഖ്യമാകയില്ല എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

1. In those days Hezekiah became very sick. He knew he was about to die. I went to see him. I told him, 'The Lord says, 'Put everything in order. Make out your will. You are going to die soon. You will not get well again.' '

2. അപ്പോള് ഹിസ്കീയാവു മുഖം ചുവരിന്റെ നേരെ തിരിച്ചു യഹോവയോടു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചു

2. Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall. He prayed to the Lord. He said,

3. അയ്യോ, യഹോവേ, ഞാന് വിശ്വസ്തതയോടും ഏകാഗ്രഹൃദയത്തോടും കൂടെ തിരുമുമ്പില് നടന്നു നിനക്കു പ്രസാദമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഔര്ക്കേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; ഹിസ്കീയാവു ഏറ്റവും കരഞ്ഞു.

3. Lord, please remember how faithful I've been to you. I've lived the way you wanted me to. I've served you with all my heart. I've done what is good in your sight.' And Hezekiah cried bitterly.

4. എന്നാല് യെശയ്യാവിന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാല്

4. A message came to me from the Lord. He said,

5. നീ ചെന്നു ഹിസ്കീയാവോടു പറയേണ്ടതുനിന്റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഞാന് നിന്റെ പ്രാര്ത്ഥന കേട്ടു നിന്റെ കണ്ണുനിര് കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. ഞാന് നിന്റെ ആയുസ്സിനോടു പതിനഞ്ചു സംവത്സരം കൂട്ടും.

5. 'Go and speak to Hezekiah. Tell him, 'The Lord, the God of King David, says, 'I have heard your prayer. I have seen your tears. I will add 15 years to your life.

6. ഞാന് നിന്നെയും ഈ നഗരത്തെയും അശ്ശൂര്രാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു വിടുവിക്കും; ഈ നഗരത്തെ ഞാന് കാത്തുരക്ഷിക്കും.

6. And I will save you and this city from the powerful hand of the king of Assyria. I will guard this city.

7. യഹോവ, താന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത ഈ കാര്യം നിവര്ത്തിക്കും എന്നുള്ളതിന്നു യഹോവയുടെ പക്കല്നിന്നു ഇതു നിനക്കു ഒരു അടയാളം ആകും.

7. ' ' 'Here is a miraculous sign from me. It will show you that I will heal you, just as I promised I would.

8. ആഹാസിന്റെ ഘടികാരത്തില് സൂര്യഗതി അനുസരിച്ചു ഇറങ്ങിപ്പോയിരിക്കുന്ന നിഴലിനെ ഞാന് പത്തു പടി പിന്നോക്കം തിരിയുമാറാക്കും; ഇങ്ങനെ സൂര്യന് ഘടികാരത്തില് ഇറങ്ങിപ്പോയിരുന്ന പത്തു പടി തിരിഞ്ഞു പോന്നു.

8. The shadow that was made by the sun has gone down ten steps on the stairway of Ahaz. I will make it go back up those ten steps.' ' ' So the shadow went back up the ten steps it had gone down.

9. യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ ഹിസ്കീയാവിന്നു രോഗം പിടിച്ചിട്ടു അതു മാറി സുഖമായ ശേഷം അവന് എഴുതിയ എഴുത്തു

9. Here is a song of praise that was written by Hezekiah, the king of Judah. He wrote it after he was sick and had gotten well again.

10. എന്റെ ആയുസ്സിന് മദ്ധ്യാഹ്നത്തില് ഞാന് പാതാളവാതിലകം പൂകേണ്ടിവരുന്നു; എന്റെ ആണ്ടുകളുടെ ശേഷിപ്പും എനിക്കില്ലാതെ പോയി എന്നു ഞാന് പറഞ്ഞു.

10. I said, 'I'm enjoying the best years of my life. Must I now go through the gates of death? Will the rest of my years be taken away from me?'

11. ഞാന് യഹോവയെ, ജീവനുള്ളവരുടെ ദേശത്തുവെച്ചു യഹോവയെ കാണുകയില്ല; ഞാന് ഭൂവാസികളുടെ ഇടയില്വെച്ചു ഇനി മനുഷ്യനെ കാണുകയില്ല എന്നു ഞാന് പറഞ്ഞു.

11. I said, 'Lord, I'll never see you again while I'm still alive. I'll never see people anymore. I'll never again be with those who live in this world.

12. എന്റെ പാര്പ്പിടം നീങ്ങി ഒരു ഇടയക്കൂടാരം പോലെ എന്നെ വിട്ടുപോയിരിക്കുന്നു; നെയ്ത്തുകാരന് തുണി ചുരുട്ടുംപോലെ ഞാന് എന്റെ ജീവനെ ചുരുട്ടിവെക്കുന്നു; അവന് എന്നെ പാവില്നിന്നു അറുത്തുകളയുന്നു; ഒരു രാപകല് കഴിയുംമുമ്പെ നീ എനിക്കു അന്തംവരുത്തുന്നു.

12. My body is like a shepherd's tent. It has been pulled down and carried off. My life is like a piece of cloth that I've rolled up. You have cut it off from the loom. In a short period of time you have brought my life to an end.

13. ഉഷസ്സുവരെ ഞാന് എന്നെത്തന്നേ അടക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു; അവനോ സിംഹംപോലെ എന്റെ അസ്ഥികളെ എല്ലാം തകര്ത്തുകളയുന്നു; ഒരു രാപകല് കഴിയുംമുമ്പെ നീ എനിക്കു അന്തം വരുത്തുന്നു.

13. I waited patiently until sunrise. But like a lion you broke all of my bones. In a short period of time you have brought my life to an end.

14. മീവല്പക്ഷിയോ കൊക്കോ എന്ന പോലെ ഞാന് ചിലെച്ചു; ഞാന് പ്രാവുപോലെ കുറുകി എന്റെ കണ്ണു ഉയരത്തിലേക്കു നോക്കി ക്ഷീണിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; യഹോവേ ഞാന് ഞെരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു; നീ എനിക്കു ഇട നില്ക്കേണമേ.

14. I cried softly like a weak little bird. I groaned like a sad dove. My eyes grew tired as I looked up toward heaven. Lord, I'm in trouble. Please come and help me!

15. ഞാന് എന്തു പറയേണ്ടു? അവന് എന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു, അവന് തന്നേ നിവര്ത്തിച്ചും ഇരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ മനോവ്യസനം ഹേതുവായി ഞാന് എന്റെ കാലമൊക്കെയും സാവധാനത്തോടെ നടക്കും.

15. 'But what can I say? You have promised to heal me. And you yourself have done it. Once I was proud and bitter. But now I will live the rest of my life free of pride.

16. കര്ത്താവേ, അതിനാല് മനുഷ്യര് ജീവിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ ജീവനും കേവലം അതിലത്രേ; അങ്ങനെ നീ എന്നെ സൌഖ്യമാക്കി എന്റെ ജീവനെ രക്ഷിക്കും.

16. Lord, people find the will to live because you keep your promises. And my spirit also finds life in your promises. You brought me back to health. You let me live.

17. സമാധാനത്തിന്നായി എനിക്കു അത്യന്തം കൈപ്പായതു ഭവിച്ചു; എങ്കിലും നീ എന്റെ സകലപാപങ്ങളെയും നിന്റെ പിറകില് എറിഞ്ഞുകളഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു എന്റെ പ്രാണനെ നാശകൂഴിയില്നിന്നു സ്നേഹത്തോടെ രക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

17. I'm sure it was for my benefit that I suffered such great pain. You love me. You kept me from going down into the pit of death. You have put all of my sins behind your back.

18. പാതാളം നിന്നെ സ്തുതിക്കുന്നില്ല; മരണം നിന്നെ വാഴ്ത്തുന്നില്ല; കുഴിയില് ഇറങ്ങുന്നവര് നിന്റെ വിശ്വസ്തതയെ പ്രത്യാശിക്കുന്നതുമില്ല.

18. People in the grave can't praise you. Dead people can't sing praise to you. Those who go down to the grave can't hope for you to be faithful to them.

19. ഞാന് ഇന്നു ചെയ്യുന്നതുപോലെ ജീവനുള്ളവന് , ജീവനുള്ളവന് മാത്രം നിന്നെ സ്തുതിക്കും; അപ്പന് മക്കളോടു നിന്റെ വിശ്വസ്തയെ അറിയിക്കും.

19. It is those who are alive who praise you. And that's what I'm doing today. Fathers tell their children about how faithful you are.

20. യഹോവ എന്നെ രക്ഷിപ്പാന് ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞങ്ങള് ജീവപര്യന്തം യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില് തന്ത്രിനാദത്തോടെ എന്റെ ഗീതങ്ങളെ പാടും.

20. 'You will save me. So we will sing and play music on stringed instruments. We will sing all the days of our lives in your temple.'

21. എന്നാല് അവന്നു സൌഖ്യം വരേണ്ടതിന്നു അത്തിപ്പഴക്കട്ട കൊണ്ടുവന്നു പരുവിന്മേല് പുരട്ടുവാന് യെശയ്യാവു പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.

21. When Hezekiah was sick, I had said, 'Press some figs together. Spread them on a piece of cloth. Apply them to Hezekiah's boil. Then he'll get well again.'

22. ഞാന് യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില് കയറിച്ചെല്ലും എന്നതിന്നു അടയാളം എന്തു എന്നു ഹിസ്കീയാവു ചോദിച്ചിരുന്നു.

22. At that time Hezekiah had asked me, 'What will the miraculous sign be to prove I'll go up to the Lord's temple?' That's when the Lord had made the shadow go back ten steps.
