1. യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനീ യെഹൂദാരാജാവിന്റെ അരമനയില് ചെന്നു, അവിടെ ഈ വചനം പ്രസ്താവിക്ക

1. The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD when King Zedekiah sent to him Pashhur the son of Malchijah, and Zephaniah the priest, the son of Maaseiah, saying,

2. ദാവീദിന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തില് ഇരിക്കുന്ന യെഹൂദാരാജാവേ, നീയും നിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരും ഈ വാതിലുകളില്കൂടി കടക്കുന്ന നിന്റെ ജനവും യഹോവയുടെ വചനം കേട്ടുകൊള്വിന് !

2. 'Please inquire of the LORD on our behalf, for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon is warring against us; perhaps the LORD will deal with us according to all His wonderful acts, so that [the enemy] will withdraw from us.'

3. യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനിങ്ങള് നീതിയും ന്യായവും നടത്തി, കവര്ച്ചയായി ഭവിച്ചവനെ പീഡകന്റെ കയ്യില്നിന്നു വിടുവിപ്പിന് ; പരദേശിയോടും അനാഥനോടും വിധവയോടും അന്യായവും ബലാല്ക്കാരവും ചെയ്യരുതു; ഈ സ്ഥലത്തു കുറ്റമില്ലാത്ത രക്തം ചൊരികയും അരുതു.

3. Then Jeremiah said to them, 'You shall say to Zedekiah as follows:

4. നിങ്ങള് ഈ വചനം അനുഷ്ഠിച്ചാല് ദാവീദിന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തില് ഇരിക്കുന്നവരും രഥങ്ങളിലും കുതിരപ്പുറത്തും കയറുന്നവരുമായ രാജാക്കന്മാരും അവരുടെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരും പ്രജകളും ഈ അരമനയുടെ വാതിലുകളില്കൂടി കടക്കും.

4. 'Thus says the LORD God of Israel, 'Behold, I am about to turn back the weapons of war which are in your hands, with which you are warring against the king of Babylon and the Chaldeans who are besieging you outside the wall; and I will gather them into the center of this city.

5. ഈ വചനം കേട്ടനുസരിക്കയില്ലെങ്കിലോ, ഈ അരമന ശൂന്യമായ്പോകുമെന്നു ഞാന് എന്നെച്ചൊല്ലി സത്യം ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

5. 'I Myself will war against you with an outstretched hand and a mighty arm, even in anger and wrath and great indignation.

6. യെഹൂദാരാജാവിന്റെ അരമനയോടു യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനീ ഗിലെയാദും ലെബാനോന്റെ ശിഖരവും ആകുന്നു; എങ്കിലും ഞാന് നിന്നെ ഒരു മരുഭൂമിയും നിവാസികളില്ലാത്ത പട്ടണങ്ങളും ആക്കും.

6. 'I will also strike down the inhabitants of this city, both man and beast; they will die of a great pestilence.

7. ഞാന് ആയുധപാണികളായ സംഹാരകന്മാരെ നിന്റെ നേരെ സംഭരിക്കും; അവര് നിന്റെ വിശിഷ്ടദേവദാരുക്കളെ വെട്ടി തീയില് ഇട്ടുകളയും.

7. 'Then afterwards,' declares the LORD, 'I will give over Zedekiah king of Judah and his servants and the people, even those who survive in this city from the pestilence, the sword and the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their foes and into the hand of those who seek their lives; and he will strike them down with the edge of the sword. He will not spare them nor have pity nor compassion.''

8. അനേകം ജാതികളും ഈ നഗരംവഴി കടന്നു പോകുമ്പോള്, ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ കൂട്ടുകാരനോടുഈ മഹാനഗരത്തോടു യഹോവ ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തതെന്തു എന്നു ചോദിക്കയും

8. 'You shall also say to this people, 'Thus says the LORD, 'Behold, I set before you the way of life and the way of death.

9. അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നിയമം ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു അന്യദേവന്മാരെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു സേവിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടുതന്നേ എന്നുത്തരം പറകയും ചെയ്യും.

9. 'He who dwells in this city will die by the sword and by famine and by pestilence; but he who goes out and falls away to the Chaldeans who are besieging you will live, and he will have his own life as booty.

10. മരിച്ചവനെക്കുറിച്ചു കരയേണ്ടാ, അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു വിലപിക്കയും വേണ്ടാ; നാടുവിട്ടു പോകേണ്ടിവരുന്നവനെക്കുറിച്ചു തന്നേ കരവിന് ; അവന് മടങ്ങിവരികയില്ല; ജന്മദേശം ഇനി കാണുകയുമില്ല.

10. 'For I have set My face against this city for harm and not for good,' declares the LORD. 'It will be given into the hand of the king of Babylon and he will burn it with fire.''

11. തന്റെ അപ്പനായ യോശീയാവിന്നു പകരം വാണിട്ടു ഈ സ്ഥലം വിട്ടുപോയവനായി യോശീയാവിന്റെ മകനും യെഹൂദാരാജാവുമായ ശല്ലൂമിനെക്കുറിച്ചു യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഅവന് ഇവിടേക്കു മടങ്ങിവരികയില്ല.

11. 'Then [say] to the household of the king of Judah, 'Hear the word of the LORD,

12. അവനെ ബദ്ധനാക്കി കൊണ്ടുചെന്ന സ്ഥലത്തു വെച്ചു തന്നേ അവന് മരിക്കും; ഈ ദേശം അവന് ഇനി കാണുകയുമില്ല.

12. O house of David, thus says the LORD: 'Administer justice every morning; And deliver the [person] who has been robbed from the power of [his] oppressor, That My wrath may not go forth like fire And burn with none to extinguish [it], Because of the evil of their deeds.

13. നീതികേടുകൊണ്ടു അരമനയും അന്യായം കൊണ്ടു മാളികയും പണിതു, കൂട്ടുകാരനെക്കൊണ്ടു വേല ചെയ്യിച്ചു കൂലി കൊടുക്കാതിരിക്കയും

13. 'Behold, I am against you, O valley dweller, O rocky plain,' declares the LORD, 'You men who say, 'Who will come down against us? Or who will enter into our habitations?'

14. ഞാന് വിസ്താരമുള്ള അരമനയും വിശാലമായ മാളികയും പണിയും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു കിളിവാതിലുകളെ വീതിയില് തീര്ക്കയും ദേവദാരുകൊണ്ടു തട്ടിടുകയും ചായില്യംകൊണ്ടു ചായം ഇടുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നവന്നു അയ്യോ കഷ്ടം!

14. 'But I will punish you according to the results of your deeds,' declares the LORD, 'And I will kindle a fire in its forest That it may devour all its environs.'''
