1. അയ്യോ! യഹോവ സീയോന് പുത്രിയെ തന്റെ കോപത്തില് മേഘംകൊണ്ടു മറെച്ചതെങ്ങനെ? അവന് യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ മഹത്വം ആകാശത്തുനിന്നു ഭൂമിയല് ഇട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു; തന്റെ കോപദിവസത്തില് അവന് തന്റെ പാദപീഠത്തെ ഔര്ത്തതുമില്ല,

1. How hath the Lord covered the daughter of Zion with a cloud in his anger, [and] cast down from heaven to the earth the beauty of Israel, and remembered not his footstool in the day of his anger!

2. കര്ത്താവു കരുണ കാണിക്കാതെ യാക്കോബിന്റെ മേച്ചല്പുറങ്ങളെയൊക്കെയും നശിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; തന്റെ ക്രോധത്തില് അവന് യെഹൂദാപുത്രിയുടെ കോട്ടകളെ ഇടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; രാജ്യത്തെയും അതിലെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരെയും അവന് നിലത്തിട്ടു അശുദ്ധമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

2. The Lord hath swallowed up all the habitations of Jacob, and hath not pitied: he hath thrown down in his wrath the strong holds of the daughter of Judah; he hath brought [them] down to the ground: he hath polluted the kingdom and its princes.

3. തന്റെ ഉഗ്രകോപത്തില് അവന് യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ കൊമ്പു ഒക്കെയും വെട്ടിക്കളഞ്ഞു; തന്റെ വലങ്കയ്യെ അവന് ശത്രുവിന് മുമ്പില് നിന്നു പിന് വലിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു; ചുറ്റും ദഹിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ജ്വാലപോലെ അവന് യാക്കോബിനെ ദഹിപ്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

3. He hath cut off in [his] fierce anger all the horn of Israel: he hath drawn back his right hand from before the enemy, and he burned against Jacob like a flaming fire, [which] devoureth on every side.

4. ശത്രു എന്നപോലെ അവന് വില്ലു കുലെച്ചു, വൈരി എന്നപോലെ അവന് വലങ്കൈ ഔങ്ങി; കണ്ണിന്നു കൌതുകമുള്ളതു ഒക്കെയും നശിപ്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു. സീയോന് പുത്രിയുടെ കൂടാരത്തില് തന്റെ ക്രോധം തീപോലെ ചൊരിഞ്ഞു;

4. He hath bent his bow like an enemy: he stood with his right hand as an adversary, and slew all [that were] pleasant to the eye in the tabernacle of the daughter of Zion: he poured out his fury like fire.

5. കര്ത്താവു ശത്രുവെപ്പോലെ ആയി, യിസ്രായേലിനെ മുടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു; അവളുടെ അരമനകളെ ഒക്കെയും മുടിച്ചു, അവളുടെ കോട്ടകളെ നശിപ്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു; യെഹൂദാപുത്രിക്കു ദുഃഖവും വിലാപവും വര്ദ്ധിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

5. The Lord was as an enemy: he hath swallowed up Israel, he hath swallowed up all her palaces: he hath destroyed his strong holds, and hath increased in the daughter of Judah mourning and lamentation.

6. അവന് തിരുനിവാസം ഒരു തോട്ടംപോലെ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു; തന്റെ ഉത്സവസ്ഥലം നശിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; യഹോവ സീയോനില് ഉത്സവവും ശബ്ബത്തും മറക്കുമാറാക്കി, തന്റെ ഉഗ്രകോപത്തില് രാജാവിനെയും പുരോഹിതനെയും നിരസിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

6. And he hath violently taken away his tabernacle, as [if it were of] a garden: he hath destroyed his places of the assembly: the LORD hath caused the solemn feasts and sabbaths to be forgotten in Zion, and in the indignation of his anger hath despised the king and the priest.

7. കര്ത്താവു തന്റെ യാഗപീഠം തള്ളിക്കളഞ്ഞു, തന്റെ വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരം വെറുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; അവളുടെ അരമനമതിലുകളെ അവന് ശത്രുവിന്റെ കയ്യില് ഏല്പിച്ചു; അവര് ഉത്സവത്തില് എന്നപോലെ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില് ആരവം ഉണ്ടാക്കി.

7. The Lord hath cast off his altar, he hath abhorred his sanctuary, he hath given up into the hand of the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have made a noise in the house of the LORD, as in the day of a solemn feast.

8. യഹോവ സീയോന് പുത്രിയുടെ മതില് നശിപ്പിപ്പാന് നിര്ണ്ണയിച്ചു; അവന് അളന്നു നശിപ്പിക്കുന്നതില്നിന്നു കൈ പിന് വലിച്ചില്ല; അവന് കോട്ടയും മതിലും ദുഃഖത്തിലാക്കി; അവ ഒരുപോലെ ക്ഷയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

8. The LORD hath purposed to destroy the wall of the daughter of Zion: he hath stretched out a line, he hath not withdrawn his hand from destroying: therefore he made the rampart and the wall to lament; they languished together.

9. അവളുടെ വാതിലുകള് മണ്ണില് പൂണ്ടുപോയിരിക്കുന്നു; അവളുടെ ഔടാമ്പല് അവന് തകര്ത്തു നശിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവളുടെ രാജാവും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും ന്യായപ്രമാണം ഇല്ലാത്ത ജാതികളുടെ ഇടയില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു; അവളുടെ രാജാവും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും ന്യായപ്രമാണം ഇല്ലാത്ത ജാതികളുടെ ഇടയില് ഇരിക്കുന്നു; അവളുടെ പ്രവാചകന്മാര്ക്കും യഹോവയിങ്കല് നിന്നു ദര്ശനം ഉണ്ടാകുന്നതുമില്ല.

9. Her gates are sunk into the ground; he hath destroyed and broken her bars: her king and her princes [are] among the Gentiles: the law [is] no [more]; her prophets also find no vision from the LORD.

10. സീയോന് പുത്രിയുടെ മൂപ്പന്മാര് മിണ്ടാതെ നിലത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; അവര് തലയില് പൊടി വാരിയിട്ടു രട്ടുടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; യെരൂശലേം കന്യകമാര് നിലത്തോളം തല താഴ്ത്തുന്നു.

10. The elders of the daughter of Zion sit upon the ground, [and] keep silence: they have cast up dust upon their heads; they have girded themselves with sackcloth: the virgins of Jerusalem hang down their heads to the ground.

11. എന്റെ ജനത്തിന് പുത്രിയുടെ നാശം നിമിത്തം ഞാന് കണ്ണുനീര് വാര്ത്തു കണ്ണു മങ്ങിപ്പോകുന്നു; എന്റെ ഉള്ളം കലങ്ങി കരള് നിലത്തു ചൊരിഞ്ഞുവീഴുന്നു; പൈതങ്ങളും ശിശുക്കളും നഗരവീഥികളില് തളര്ന്നുകിടക്കുന്നു.

11. My eyes do fail with tears, my heart is troubled, my liver is poured upon the earth, for the destruction of the daughter of my people; because the children and the sucklings swoon in the streets of the city.

12. അവര് നിഹതന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നഗരവീഥികളില് തളര്ന്നുകിടക്കുമ്പോഴും അമ്മമാരുടെ മാര്വ്വില്വെച്ചു പ്രാണന് വിടുമ്പോഴും ആഹാരവും വീഞ്ഞും എവിടെ എന്നു അമ്മമാരോടു ചോദിക്കുന്നു.

12. They say to their mothers, Where [is] grain and wine? when they swooned as the wounded in the streets of the city, when their soul was poured out into their mothers ' bosom.

13. യെരൂശലേംപുത്രിയേ, ഞാന് നിന്നോടു എന്തു സാക്ഷീകരിക്കേണ്ടു? എന്തൊന്നിനെ നിന്നോടു സദൃശമാക്കേണ്ടു? സീയോന് പുത്രിയായ കന്യകേ, ഞാന് നിന്നെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിപ്പാന് എന്തൊന്നു നിന്നോടുപമിക്കേണ്ടു? നിന്റെ മുറിവു സമുദ്രംപോലെ വലുതായിരിക്കുന്നു; ആര് നിനക്കു സൌഖ്യം വരുത്തും?

13. What thing shall I take to witness for thee? what thing shall I liken to thee, O daughter of Jerusalem? what shall I equal to thee, that I may comfort thee, O virgin daughter of Zion? for thy breach [is] great like the sea: who can heal thee?

14. നിന്റെ പ്രവാചകന്മാര് നിനക്കു ഭോഷത്വവും വ്യാജവും ദര്ശിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവര് നിന്റെ പ്രവാസം മാറ്റുവാന് തക്കവണ്ണം നിന്റെ അകൃത്യം വെളിപ്പെടുത്താതെ വ്യാജവും പ്രവാസകാരണവുമായ പ്രവാചകം ദര്ശിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

14. Thy prophets have seen vain and foolish things for thee: and they have not revealed thy iniquity, to turn away thy captivity; but have seen for thee false burdens and causes of banishment.

15. കടന്നുപോകുന്ന ഏവരും നിന്നെ നോക്കി കൈ കൊട്ടുന്നു; അവര് യെരൂശലേംപുത്രിയെച്ചൊല്ലി ചൂളകുത്തി തലകുലുക്കിസൌന്ദര്യപൂര്ത്തി എന്നും സര്വ്വമഹീതലമോദം എന്നും വിളിച്ചുവന്ന നഗരം ഇതു തന്നേയോ എന്നു ചോദിക്കുന്നു.

15. All that pass by clap [their] hands at thee; they hiss and shake their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, [saying, Is] this the city that [men] call The perfection of beauty, The joy of the whole earth?

16. നിന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളൊക്കെയും നിന്റെ നേരെ വായ്പിളര്ക്കുംന്നു; അവര് ചൂളകുത്തി, പല്ലുകടിച്ചുനാം അവളെ വിഴുങ്ങിക്കളഞ്ഞു. നാം കാത്തിരുന്ന ദിവസം ഇതുതന്നേ, നമുക്കു സാദ്ധ്യമായി നാം കണ്ടു രസിപ്പാന് ഇടയായല്ലോ എന്നു പറയുന്നു.

16. All thy enemies have opened their mouth against thee: they hiss and gnash the teeth: they say, We have swallowed [her] up: certainly this [is] the day that we looked for; we have found, we have seen [it].

17. യഹോവ നിര്ണ്ണയിച്ചതു അനുഷ്ടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; പുരാതനകാലത്തു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു നിവര്ത്തിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. കരുണകൂടാതെ അവന് ഇടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു; അവന് ശത്രുവിനെ നിന്നെച്ചൊല്ലി സന്തോഷിപ്പിച്ചു വൈരികളുടെ കൊമ്പു ഉയര്ത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

17. The LORD hath done [that] which he had devised; he hath fulfilled his word that he had commanded in the days of old: he hath thrown down, and hath not pitied: and he hath caused [thy] enemy to rejoice over thee, he hath set up the horn of thy adversaries.

18. അവരുടെ ഹൃദയം കര്ത്താവിനോടു നിലവിളിച്ചു; സീയോന് പുത്രിയുടെ മതിലേ, രാവും പകലും ഔലോല കണ്ണുനീരൊഴുക്കുക; നിനക്കുതന്നേ സ്വസ്ഥത നല്കരുതു; നിന്റെ കണ്മണി വിശ്രമിക്കയുമരുതു.

18. Their heart cried to the Lord, O wall of the daughter of Zion, let tears run down like a river day and night: give thyself no rest; let not the apple of thy eye cease.

19. രാത്രിയില്, യാമാരംഭത്തിങ്കല് എഴുന്നേറ്റു നിലവിളിക്ക; നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തെ വെള്ളംപോലെ കര്ത്തൃ സന്നിധിയില് പകരുക; വീഥികളുടെ തലെക്കലൊക്കെയും വിശപ്പുകൊണ്ടു തളര്ന്നുകിടക്കുന്ന നിന്റെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളുടെ ജീവരക്ഷെക്കായി അവങ്കലേക്കു കൈ മലര്ത്തുക.

19. Arise, cry out in the night: in the beginning of the watches pour out thy heart like water before the face of the Lord: lift up thy hands toward him for the life of thy young children, that faint for hunger at the head of every street.

20. യഹോവേ, ആരോടാകുന്നു നീ ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തതെന്നു ഔര്ത്തു കടാക്ഷിക്കേണമേ! സ്ത്രീകള് ഗര്ഭഫലത്തെ, കയ്യില് താലോലിച്ചു പോരുന്ന കുഞ്ഞുളെ തന്നേ തിന്നേണമോ? കര്ത്താവിന്റെ വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരത്തില് പുരോഹിതനും പ്രവാചകനും കൊല്ലപ്പെടേണമോ?

20. Behold, O LORD, and consider to whom thou hast done this. Shall the women eat their fruit, children of a span long? shall the priest and the prophet be slain in the sanctuary of the Lord?

21. വീഥികളില് ബാലനും വൃദ്ധനും നിലത്തു കിടക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ കന്യകമാരും യൌവനക്കാരും വാള്കൊണ്ടു വീണിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ കോപദിവസത്തില് നീ അവരെ കൊന്നു കരുണകൂടാതെ അറുത്തുകളഞ്ഞു.

21. The young and the old lie on the ground in the streets: my virgins and my young men have fallen by the sword; thou hast slain [them] in the day of thy anger; thou hast killed, [and] not pitied.

22. ഉത്സവത്തിന്നു വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടുംപോലെ നീ എനിക്കു സര്വ്വത്രഭീതികളെ വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു; യഹോവയുടെ കോപദിവസത്തില് ആരും ചാടിപ്പോകയില്ല; ആരും ശേഷിച്ചതുമില്ല; ഞാന് കയ്യില് താലോലിച്ചു വളര്ത്തിയവരെ എന്റെ ശത്രു മുടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

22. Thou hast called as in a solemn day my terrors on every side, so that in the day of the LORD'S anger none escaped nor remained: those that I have swaddled and brought up hath my enemy consumed.
