1. യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു എനിക്കുണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാല്

1. The word of ADONAI came to me:

2. മനുഷ്യപുത്രാ, നീ യിസ്രായേല്ഗൃഹത്തോടു ഒരു കടങ്കഥ പറഞ്ഞു ഒരു ഉപമ പ്രസ്താവിക്കേണ്ടതു;

2. 'Human being, propound this riddle, tell the house of Isra'el this allegory,

3. യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവു ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുവലിയ ചിറകും നീണ്ട തൂവലും ഉള്ളതും പലനിറമായ പപ്പു നിറഞ്ഞതുമായ ഒരു വലിയ കഴുകന് ലെബനോനില് വന്നു ഒരു ദേവദാരുവിന്റെ ശിഖരം എടുത്തു.

3. say that [Adonai ELOHIM] says this: 'A big eagle having great wings and long pinions full of varicolored feathers came to the L'vanon and took over the top of the cedar.

4. അവന് അതിന്റെ ഇളഞ്ചില്ലികളുടെ അറ്റം മുറിച്ചു കച്ചവടമുള്ളോരു ദേശത്തു കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു, കച്ചവടക്കാരുടെ പട്ടണത്തില് നട്ടു.

4. He cropped off the topmost of its young twigs, carried them to a land of traders and set them down in a city of merchants.

5. അവന് ദേശത്തിലെ തൈകളില് ഒന്നു എടുത്തു ഒരു വിളനിലത്തു നട്ടു; അവന് അതിനെ വളരെ വെള്ളത്തിന്നരികെ കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു അലരിവൃക്ഷംപോലെ നട്ടു.

5. He also took some of the seed in the land and planted it in fertile soil, placing it where there was abundant water, as one would a willow.

6. അതു വളര്ന്നു, പൊക്കം കുറഞ്ഞു പടരുന്ന മുന്തിരിവള്ളിയായിത്തീര്ന്നു; അതിന്റെ വള്ളി അവങ്കലേക്കു തിരിയേണ്ടതും അതിന്റെ വേര് അവന്നു കിഴ്പെടേണ്ടതും ആയിരുന്നു; ഇങ്ങനെ അതു മുന്തിരിവള്ളിയായി കൊമ്പുകളെ പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കയും ചില്ലികളെ നീട്ടുകയും ചെയ്തു.

6. It grew to become a fruitful vine sprawling over the ground; its branches turned toward him, and its roots were under him- thus it became a vine, sprouting branches and putting forth shoots.

7. എന്നാല് വലിയ ചിറകും വളരെ പപ്പും ഉള്ള മറ്റൊരു വലിയ കഴുകന് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന് അതു നനെക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ആ മുന്തിരിവള്ളി തന്റെ തടത്തില്നിന്നു വേരുകളെ അവങ്കലേക്കു തിരിച്ചു കൊമ്പുകളെ അവങ്കലേക്കു നീട്ടി.

7. ''There was another big eagle with great wings and many feathers; and the vine bent its roots toward him and put forth its branches toward him, so that he might water it more than in the bed where it was planted.

8. കൊമ്പുകളെ പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു ഫലം കായിപ്പാനും നല്ലമുന്തിരിവള്ളി ആയിത്തീരുവാനും തക്കവണ്ണം അതിനെ വളരെ വെള്ളത്തിന്നരികെ നല്ലനിലത്തു നട്ടിരുന്നു.

8. It had been planted in good soil, near plenty of water, so that it would produce branches, bear fruit and become a noble vine.'

9. ഇതു സാധിക്കുമോ? അതു വാടിപ്പോകത്തക്കവണ്ണം, അതിന്റെ തളിര്ത്ത ഇലകളൊക്കെയും വാടിപ്പോകത്തക്കവണ്ണം തന്നേ, അവന് അതിന്റെ വേരുകളെ മാന്തുകയും കായി പറിച്ചുകളകയും ചെയ്കില്ലയോ? അതിനെ വേരോടെ പിഴുതുകളയേണ്ടതിന്നു വലിയ ബലമോ വളരെ ജനമോ ആവശ്യമില്ല.

9. 'Say that [Adonai ELOHIM] asks: 'Will it succeed? Won't he pull it up by the roots and cut off its fruit; so that it dries up; and all its sprouting leaves wither? There will be no great power and few people there when it is plucked up by the roots.

10. അതു നട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു സത്യം; അതു തഴെക്കുമോ? കിഴക്കന് കാറ്റു തട്ടുമ്പോള് അതു തീരെ വാടിപ്പോകയില്ലയോ? വളര്ന്ന തടത്തില് തന്നേ അതു ഉണങ്ങിപ്പോകും എന്നു യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവു അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു നീ പറക.

10. Will it thrive just because it was planted? Won't it wither altogether when the east wind strikes it? Yes, it will wither right there in the beds where it was growing.''

11. The word of ADONAI came to me:

12. ഇതിന്റെ അര്ത്ഥം നിങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നില്ലയോ എന്നു നീ ആ മത്സരഗൃഹത്തോടു ചോദിച്ചിട്ടു അവരോടു പറയേണ്ടതുബാബേല്രാജാവു യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു വന്നു അതിന്റെ രാജാവിനെയും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരെയും പിടിച്ചു തന്നോടുകൂടെ ബാബേലിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയി;

12. 'Say to the rebellious house: 'Don't you know what these things mean?' Tell them: 'Here, the king of Bavel came to Yerushalayim, took its king and princes and brought them to himself in Bavel.

13. രാജസന്തതിയില് ഒരുത്തനെ അവന് എടുത്തു അവനുമായി ഒരു ഉടമ്പടി ചെയ്തു അവനെക്കൊണ്ടു സത്യം ചെയ്യിച്ചു;

13. Then he took a member of the royal family and made a covenant with him, putting him under oath. He removed the powerful leaders of the land,

14. രാജ്യം തന്നെത്താന് ഉയര്ത്താതെ താണിരുന്നു അവന്റെ ഉടമ്പടി പ്രമാണിച്ചു നിലനിന്നുപോരേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന് ദേശത്തിലെ ബലവാന്മാരെ കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

14. so that this kingdom of his would stay humble and not develop aspirations of its own; rather, it would keep his covenant and live accordingly.

15. എങ്കിലും അവനോടു മത്സരിച്ചു ഇവന് തനിക്കു കുതിരകളെയും വളരെ പടജ്ജനത്തെയും അയച്ചുതരേണമെന്നു പറവാന് ദൂതന്മാരെ മിസ്രയീമിലേക്കു അയച്ചുഅവന് കൃതാര്ത്ഥനാകുമോ? ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യുന്നവന് തെറ്റി ഒഴിയുമോ? അല്ല, അവന് ഉടമ്പടി ലംഘിച്ചിട്ടു വഴുതിപ്പോകുമോ?

15. But this man rebelled and sent representatives to Egypt, in order to obtain horses and a sizeable army. Can he succeed? Can someone who does such things escape punishment? Can he break the covenant and still escape punishment?

16. എന്നാണ, അവനെ രാജാവാക്കിയ രാജാവിന്റെ സ്ഥലമായ ബാബേലില്, അവന്റെ അരികെ വെച്ചു തന്നേ, അവന് മരിക്കും എന്നു യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു; അവനോടു ചെയ്ത സത്യം അവന് ധിക്കരിക്കയും അവനുമായുള്ള ഉടമ്പടി ലംഘിക്കയും ചെയ്തുവല്ലോ.

16. ''As I live,' says [Adonai ELOHIM], 'in the place where the king who gave him his throne lives, whose oath he despised and whose covenant he broke, there with him in Bavel I swear that he will die.

17. ബഹുജനത്തെ നശിപ്പിച്ചുകളവാന് തക്കവണ്ണം അവര് വാടകോരി കൊത്തളം പണിയുമ്പോള് ഫറവോന് മഹാസൈന്യത്തോടും വലിയ കൂട്ടത്തോടും കൂടെ അവന്നുവേണ്ടി യുദ്ധത്തില് ഒന്നും പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കയില്ല.

17. Pharaoh with his mighty army and numerous troops will give him no help in the war, when they raise siege-works and build fortified towers to destroy many people;

18. അവന് ഉടമ്പടി ലംഘിച്ചു സത്യം ധിക്കരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന് കയ്യടിച്ചിട്ടും ഇതൊക്കെയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; ആകയാല് അവന് ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകയില്ല.

18. because he despised the oath by breaking the covenant to which he had sworn allegiance; having done all these things, he will not escape unpunished.'

19. അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവു ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഎന്നാണ, അവന് ധിക്കരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന എന്റെ സത്യവും ലംഘിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന എന്റെ ഉടമ്പടിയും ഞാന് അവന്റെ തലമേല് വരുത്തും.

19. Therefore [Adonai ELOHIM] says: 'As I live, I swear that it is my oath he has despised and my covenant he has broken, and I will bring this on his own head.

20. ഞാന് എന്റെ വല അവന്റെമേല് വീശും; അവന് എന്റെ കണിയില് അകപ്പെടും; ഞാന് അവനെ ബാബേലിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു, അവന് എന്നോടു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്ന ദ്രോഹത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു അവിടെവെച്ചു അവനോടു വ്യവഹരിക്കും.

20. I will spread my net over him, and he will be caught in my snare; I will bring him to Bavel and bring him to judgment there for breaking faith with me.

21. അവന്റെ ശ്രേഷ്ഠ യോദ്ധാക്കള് ഒക്കെയും അവന്റെ എല്ലാപടക്കൂട്ടങ്ങളും വാളാല് വീഴും; ശേഷിപ്പുള്ളവരോ നാലു ദിക്കിലേക്കും ചിതറിപ്പോകും; യഹോവയായ ഞാന് അതു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് അറിയും.

21. The elite troops among his forces will die by the sword, and those who survive will be scattered to every wind. Then you will know that I, ADONAI, said it.'

22. യഹോവയായ കര്ത്താവു ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഞാനും ഉയരമുള്ള ദേവദാരുവിന്റെ ഒരു ശിഖരം എടുത്തു നടും; അതിന്റെ ഇളഞ്ചില്ലികളുടെ അറ്റത്തുനിന്നു ഇളയതായിരിക്കുന്ന ഒന്നു ഞാന് മുറിച്ചെടുത്തു ഉയരവും ഉന്നതവുമായുള്ള ഒരു പര്വ്വതത്തില് നടും.

22. '[Adonai ELOHIM] says, 'From the top of this tall cedar, from its highest branch, I will take a shoot and plant it myself on a high and prominent mountain.

23. യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ഉയര്ന്ന പര്വ്വതത്തില് ഞാന് അതു നടും; അതു കൊമ്പുകളെ പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു ഫലം കായിച്ചു ഭംഗിയുള്ളോരു ദേവദാരുവായിത്തീരും; അതിന്റെ കീഴില് പലവിധം ചിറകുള്ള പക്ഷികളൊക്കെയും പാര്ക്കും; അതിന്റെ കൊമ്പുകളുടെ നിഴലില് അവ വസിക്കും.

23. I will plant it on the highest mountain in Isra'el, where it will put out branches, bear fruit, and become a noble cedar. Under it will live all kinds of birds; winged creatures of every description will live there in the shadow of its branches.

24. യഹോവയായ ഞാന് ഉയരമുള്ള വൃക്ഷത്തെ താഴ്ത്തി താണിരുന്ന വൃക്ഷത്തെ ഉയര്ത്തുകയും പച്ചയായുള്ള വൃക്ഷത്തെ ഉണക്കി ഉണങ്ങിയ വൃക്ഷത്തെ തഴെപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു കാട്ടിലെ സകലവൃക്ഷങ്ങളും അറിയും; യഹോവയായ ഞാന് അതു പ്രസ്താവിച്ചും അനുഷ്ഠിച്ചും ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

24. Then all the trees of the field will know that I, ADONAI, bring down the tall tree and raise up the low tree, wither the green tree and make the withered tree bear fruit. I, ADONAI, have spoken; and I will do it.''
