1. യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു രണ്ടാം പ്രാവശ്യം യോനെക്കു ഉണ്ടായതു എന്തെന്നാല്

1. Once again the LORD told Jonah

2. നീ പുറപ്പെട്ടു മഹാനഗരമായ നീനെവേയിലേക്കു ചെന്നു ഞാന് നിന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്ന പ്രസംഗം അതിനോടു പ്രസംഗിക്ക.

2. to go to that great city of Nineveh and preach his message of doom.

3. അങ്ങനെ യോനാ പുറപ്പെട്ടു, യഹോവയുടെ കല്പനപ്രകാരം നീനെവേയിലേക്കു ചെന്നു. എന്നാല് നീനെവേ മൂന്നു ദിവസത്തെ വഴിയുള്ള അതിമഹത്തായോരു നഗരമായിരുന്നു.

3. Jonah obeyed the LORD and went to Nineveh. The city was so big that it took three days just to walk through it.

4. യോനാ നഗരത്തില് കടന്നു ആദ്യം ഒരു ദിവസത്തെ വഴിചെന്നുഇനി നാല്പതു ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞാല് നീനെവേ ഉന്മൂലമാകും എന്നു ഘോഷിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു.

4. After walking for a day, Jonah warned the people, 'Forty days from now, Nineveh will be destroyed!'

5. എന്നാല് നീനെവേക്കാര് ദൈവത്തില് വിശ്വസിച്ചു ഒരു ഉപവാസം പരസ്യം ചെയ്തു വലിയവരും ചെറിയവരും ഒരുപോലെ രട്ടുടുത്തു.

5. They believed God's message and set a time when they would go without eating to show their sorrow. Then everyone in the city, no matter who they were, dressed in sackcloth.

6. When the king of Nineveh heard what was happening, he also dressed in sackcloth; he left the royal palace and sat in dust.

7. അവന് നീനെവേയില് എങ്ങും ഘോഷിപ്പിച്ചു പരസ്യമാക്കിയതു എന്തെന്നാല്രാജാവിന്റെയും അവന്റെ മഹത്തുക്കളുടെയും ആജ്ഞയാവിതുമനുഷ്യനോ മൃഗമോ കന്നുകാലിയോ ആടോ ഒന്നും ഒരു വസ്തുവും ആസ്വദിക്കരുതു; മേയ്കയും വെള്ളം കുടിക്കയും അരുതു.

7. Then he and his officials sent out an order for everyone in the city to obey. It said: None of you or your animals may eat or drink a thing. Each of you must wear sackcloth, and you must even put sackcloth on your animals. You must also pray to the LORD God with all your heart and stop being sinful and cruel. Maybe God will change his mind and have mercy on us, so we won't be destroyed.

8. മനുഷ്യനും മൃഗവും രട്ടു പുതെച്ചു ഉച്ചത്തില് ദൈവത്തോടു വിളിച്ചു അപേക്ഷിക്കേണം; ഔരോരുത്തന് താന്താന്റെ ദുര്മ്മാര്ഗ്ഗവും താന്താന്റെ കൈക്കലുള്ള സാഹസവും വിട്ടു മനംതിരികയും വേണം.

9. ദൈവം വീണ്ടും അനുതപിച്ചു നാം നശിച്ചുപോകാതെയിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന്റെ ഉഗ്രകോപം വിട്ടുമാറുമായിരിക്കും; ആര്ക്കറിയാം.

10. അവര് ദുര്മ്മാര്ഗ്ഗം വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞു എന്നു ദൈവം അവരുടെ പ്രവൃത്തികളാല് കണ്ടപ്പോള് താന് അവര്ക്കും വരുത്തും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരുന്ന അനര്ത്ഥത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ദൈവം അനുതപിച്ചു അതു വരുത്തിയതുമില്ല.
