1. ഹബക്കൂക് പ്രവാചകന് ദര്ശിച്ച പ്രവാചകം.

1. This is the message that the LORD revealed to the prophet Habakkuk.

2. യഹോവേ, എത്രത്തോളം ഞാന് അയ്യം വിളിക്കയും നീ കേള്ക്കാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യും? സാഹസംനിമിത്തം ഞാന് എത്രത്തോളം നിന്നോടു നിലവിളിക്കയും നീ രക്ഷിക്കാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യും?

2. O LORD, how long must I call for help before you listen, before you save us from violence?

3. നീ എന്നെ നീതികേടു കാണുമാറാക്കുന്നതും പീഡനം വെറുതെ നോക്കുന്നതും എന്തിനു? കവര്ച്ചയും സാഹസവും എന്റെ മുമ്പില് ഉണ്ടു; കലഹം നടക്കുന്നു; ശണ്ഠ ഉളവായി വരും.

3. Why do you make me see such trouble? How can you stand to look on such wrongdoing? Destruction and violence are all around me, and there is fighting and quarreling everywhere.

4. അതുകൊണ്ടു ന്യായപ്രമാണം അയഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; ന്യായം ഒരുനാളും വെളിപ്പെട്ടുവരുന്നതുമില്ല; ദുഷ്ടന് നീതിമാനെ വളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു ന്യായം വക്രതയായി വെളിപ്പെട്ടുവരുന്നു.

4. The law is weak and useless, and justice is never done. Evil people get the better of the righteous, and so justice is perverted.

5. ജാതികളുടെ ഇടയില് ദൃഷ്ടിവെച്ചു നോക്കുവിന് ! ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു വിസ്മയിപ്പിന് ! ഞാന് നിങ്ങളുടെ കാലത്തു ഒരു പ്രവൃത്തി ചെയ്യും; അതു വിവരിച്ചുകേട്ടാല് നിങ്ങള് വിശ്വസിക്കയില്ല.

5. Then the LORD said to his people, 'Keep watching the nations around you, and you will be astonished at what you see. I am going to do something that you will not believe when you hear about it.

6. ഞാന് ഉഗ്രതയും വേഗതയുമുള്ള ജാതിയായ കല്ദയരെ ഉണര്ത്തും; അവര് തങ്ങളുടേതല്ലാത്ത വാസസ്ഥലങ്ങളെ കൈവശമാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഭൂമണ്ഡലത്തില് നീളെ സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്നു.

6. I am bringing the Babylonians to power, those fierce, restless people. They are marching out across the world to conquer other lands.

7. അവര് ഘോരവും ഭയങ്കരവുമായുള്ളവര്; അവരുടെ ന്യായവും ശ്രേഷ്ഠതയും അവരില്നിന്നു തന്നേ പുറപ്പെടുന്നു.

7. They spread fear and terror, and in their pride they are a law to themselves.

8. അവരുടെ കുതിരകള് പുള്ളിപ്പുലികളെക്കാള് വേഗതയും വൈകുന്നേരത്തെ ചെന്നായ്ക്കളെക്കാള് ഉഗ്രതയുമുള്ളവ; അവരുടെ കുതിരച്ചേവകര് ഗര്വ്വിച്ചോടിക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ കുതിരച്ചേവകര് ദൂരത്തുനിന്നു വരുന്നു; തിന്നുവാന് ബദ്ധപ്പെടുന്ന കഴുകനെപ്പോലെ അവര് പറന്നു വരുന്നു.

8. 'Their horses are faster than leopards, fiercer than hungry wolves. Their cavalry troops come riding from distant lands; their horses paw the ground. They come swooping down like eagles attacking their prey.

9. അവര് ഏവരും സംഹാരത്തിന്നായി വരുന്നു; അവരുടെ മുഖം മുമ്പോട്ടു ബദ്ധപ്പെടുന്നു; അവര് മണല്പോലെ ബദ്ധന്മാരെ പിടിച്ചുചേര്ക്കുംന്നു.

9. 'Their armies advance in violent conquest, and everyone is terrified as they approach. Their captives are as numerous as grains of sand.

10. അവര് രാജാക്കന്മാരെ പരിഹസിക്കുന്നു; പ്രഭുക്കന്മാര് അവര്ക്കും ഹാസ്യമായിരിക്കുന്നു; അവര് ഏതു കോട്ടയെയും കുറിച്ചു ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവര് മണ്ണു കുന്നിച്ചു അതിനെ പിടിക്കും.

10. They treat kings with contempt and laugh at high officials. No fortress can stop them---they pile up earth against it and capture it.

11. അന്നു അവന് കാറ്റുപോലെ അടിച്ചുകടന്നു അതിക്രമിച്ചു കുറ്റക്കാരനായ്തീരും; സ്വന്തശക്തിയല്ലോ അവന്നു ദൈവം.

11. Then they sweep on like the wind and are gone, these men whose power is their god.'

12. എന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേ, നീ പുരാതനമേ എന്റെ പരിശുദ്ധനല്ലയോ? ഞങ്ങള് മരിക്കയില്ല; യഹോവേ, നീ അവനെ ന്യായവിധിക്കായി നിയമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; പാറയായുള്ളോവേ, ശിക്ഷെക്കായി നീ അവനെ നിയോഗിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

12. LORD, from the very beginning you are God. You are my God, holy and eternal. LORD, my God and protector, you have chosen the Babylonians and made them strong so that they can punish us.

13. ദോഷം കണ്ടുകൂടാതവണ്ണം നിര്മ്മലദൃഷ്ടിയുള്ളവനും പീഡനം കാണ്മാന് കഴിയാത്തവനുമായുള്ളോവേ, ദ്രോഹം പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നവരെ നീ വെറുതെ നോക്കുന്നതും ദുഷ്ടന് തന്നിലും നീതിമാനായവനെ വിഴുങ്ങുമ്പോള്

13. But how can you stand these treacherous, evil men? Your eyes are too holy to look at evil, and you cannot stand the sight of people doing wrong. So why are you silent while they destroy people who are more righteous than they are?

14. നീ മിണ്ടാതിരിക്കുന്നതും മനുഷ്യരെ സമുദ്രത്തിലെ മത്സ്യങ്ങളെപ്പോലെയും അധിപതിയില്ലാത്ത ഇഴജാതികളെപ്പോലെയും ആക്കുന്നതും എന്തു?

14. How can you treat people like fish or like a swarm of insects that have no ruler to direct them?

15. അവന് അവയെ ഒക്കെയും ചൂണ്ടല്കൊണ്ടു പിടിച്ചെടുക്കുന്നു; അവന് വലകൊണ്ടു അവയെ വലിച്ചെടുക്കുന്നു; കോരുവലയില് ചേര്ത്തുകൊള്ളുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു അവന് സന്തോഷിച്ചാനന്ദിക്കുന്നു.

15. The Babylonians catch people with hooks, as though they were fish. They drag them off in nets and shout for joy over their catch!

16. അതു ഹേതുവായി അവന് തന്റെ വലെക്കു ബലികഴിക്കുന്നു; കോരുവലെക്കു ധൂപം കാട്ടുന്നു; അവയാലല്ലോ അവന്റെ ഔഹരി പുഷ്ടിയുള്ളതും അവന്റെ ആഹാരം പൂര്ത്തിയുള്ളതുമായ്തീരുന്നതു.

16. They even worship their nets and offer sacrifices to them, because their nets provide them with the best of everything.

17. അതുനിമിത്തം അവന് തന്റെ വല കുടഞ്ഞു, ജാതികളെ ആദരിക്കാതെ നിത്യം കൊല്ലുവാന് പോകുമോ?

17. Are they going to use their swords forever and keep on destroying nations without mercy?
