1. ദാര്യ്യാവേശ് രാജാവിന്റെ രണ്ടാം ആണ്ടു, ആറാം മാസം, ഒന്നാം തിയ്യതി യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു ഹഗ്ഗായിപ്രവാചകന് മുഖാന്തരം യെഹൂദാദേശാധിപതിയായി ശെയല്തീയേലിന്റെ മകനായ സെരുബ്ബാബേലിന്നും മഹാപുരോഹിതനായി യെഹോസാദാക്കിന്റെ മകനായ യോശുവേക്കും ഉണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാല്

1. In the second year of Darius the king, on the first day of the sixth month, the word of the LORD came by the prophet Haggai to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying,

2. സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുയഹോവയുടെ ആലയം പണിവാനുള്ള കാലം വന്നിട്ടില്ലെന്നു ഈ ജനം പറയുന്നുവല്ലോ.

2. 'Thus says the LORD of hosts, 'This people says, 'The time has not come, [even] the time for the house of the LORD to be rebuilt.'''

3. ഹഗ്ഗായി പ്രവാചകന് മുഖാന്തരം യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാല്

3. Then the word of the LORD came by Haggai the prophet, saying,

4. ഈ ആലയം ശൂന്യമായിരിക്കെ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു തട്ടിട്ട വീടുകളില് പാര്പ്പാന് കാലമായോ?

4. 'Is it time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses while this house [lies] desolate?'

5. ആകയാല് സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനിങ്ങളുടെ വഴികളെ വിചാരിച്ചുനോക്കുവിന് .

5. Now therefore, thus says the LORD of hosts, 'Consider your ways!

6. നിങ്ങള് വളരെ വിതെച്ചിട്ടും അല്പമേ കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നുള്ളു; നിങ്ങള് ഭക്ഷിച്ചിട്ടും പൂര്ത്തിവരുന്നില്ല; പാനം ചെയ്തിട്ടും തൃപ്തിവരുന്നില്ല വസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചിട്ടും ആര്ക്കും കുളിര് മാറുന്നില്ല; കൂലിക്കാരന് ഔട്ടസഞ്ചിയില് ഇടുവാന് കൂലിവാങ്ങുന്നു.

6. 'You have sown much, but harvest little; [you] eat, but [there is] not [enough] to be satisfied; [you] drink, but [there is] not [enough] to become drunk; [you] put on clothing, but no one is warm [enough]; and he who earns, earns wages [to put] into a purse with holes.'

7. സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനിങ്ങളുടെ വഴികളെ വിചാരിച്ചുനോക്കുവിന് .

7. Thus says the LORD of hosts, 'Consider your ways!

8. നിങ്ങള് മലയില് ചെന്നു മരം കൊണ്ടുവന്നു ആലയം പണിവിന് ; ഞാന് അതില് പ്രസാദിച്ചു മഹത്വപ്പെടും എന്നു യഹോവ കല്പിക്കുന്നു.

8. 'Go up to the mountains, bring wood and rebuild the temple, that I may be pleased with it and be glorified,' says the LORD.

9. നിങ്ങള് അധികം കിട്ടുമെന്നു കാത്തിരുന്നു; എന്നാല് അതു അല്പമായ്തീര്ന്നു; നിങ്ങള് അതു വീട്ടില് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; ഞാനോ അതു ഊതിക്കളഞ്ഞു; അതെന്തുകൊണ്ടു? എന്റെ ആലയം ശൂന്യമായ്ക്കിടക്കയും നിങ്ങള് ഔരോരുത്തനും താന്താന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു ഔടുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു തന്നേ എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

9. '[You] look for much, but behold, [it comes] to little; when you bring [it] home, I blow it [away]. Why?' declares the LORD of hosts, 'Because of My house which [lies] desolate, while each of you runs to his own house.

10. അതുകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങള്നിമിത്തം ആകാശം മഞ്ഞു പെയ്യാതെ അടഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; ഭൂമി അനുഭവം തരുന്നതുമില്ല.

10. 'Therefore, because of you the sky has withheld its dew and the earth has withheld its produce.

11. ഞാന് ദേശത്തിന്മേലും മലകളിന്മേലും ധാന്യത്തിന്മേലും വീഞ്ഞിന്മേലും എണ്ണയിന്മേലും നിലത്തെ വിളവിന്മേലും മനുഷ്യരുടെമേലും മൃഗങ്ങളുടെ മേലും കൈകളുടെ സകല പ്രയത്നത്തിന്മേലും വറുതിയെ വിളിച്ചുവരുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

11. 'I called for a drought on the land, on the mountains, on the grain, on the new wine, on the oil, on what the ground produces, on men, on cattle, and on all the labor of your hands.'

12. അങ്ങനെ ശെയല്തീയേലിന്റെ മകനായ സെരുബ്ബാബേലും മഹാപുരോഹിതനായി യെഹോസാദാക്കിന്റെ മകനായ യോശുവയും ജനത്തില് ശേഷിപ്പുള്ള ഏവരുമായി തങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ വാക്കും തങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നിയോഗത്തിന്നു ഒത്തവണ്ണം ഹഗ്ഗായി പ്രവാചകന്റെ വചനങ്ങളും കേട്ടനുസരിച്ചു; ജനം യഹോവയെ ഭയപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്തു.

12. Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God had sent him. And the people showed reverence for the LORD.

13. അപ്പോള് യഹോവയുടെ ദൂതനായ ഹഗ്ഗായി യഹോവയുടെ ദൂതായി ജനത്തോടുഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു കൂടെ ഉണ്ടെന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13. Then Haggai, the messenger of the LORD, spoke by the commission of the LORD to the people saying, ''I am with you,' declares the LORD.'

14. യഹോവ യെഹൂദാദേശാധിപതിയായി ശെയല്തീയേലിന്റെ മകനായ സെരുബ്ബാബേലിന്റെ മനസ്സും മഹാപുരോഹിതനായി യെഹോസാദാക്കിന്റെ മകനായ യോശുവയുടെ മനസ്സും ജനത്തില് ശേഷിപ്പുള്ള ഏവരുടെയും മനസ്സും ഉണര്ത്തി; അവര് വന്നു തങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിങ്കല് വേല ചെയ്തു.

14. So the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and worked on the house of the LORD of hosts, their God,

15. ദാര്യ്യാവേശ് രാജാവിന്റെ രണ്ടാം ആണ്ടു ആറാം മാസം ഇരുപത്തുനാലാം തിയ്യതി തന്നേ.

15. on the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month in the second year of Darius the king.
