1. ദാര്യ്യാവേശ് രാജാവിന്റെ രണ്ടാം ആണ്ടു, ആറാം മാസം, ഒന്നാം തിയ്യതി യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു ഹഗ്ഗായിപ്രവാചകന് മുഖാന്തരം യെഹൂദാദേശാധിപതിയായി ശെയല്തീയേലിന്റെ മകനായ സെരുബ്ബാബേലിന്നും മഹാപുരോഹിതനായി യെഹോസാദാക്കിന്റെ മകനായ യോശുവേക്കും ഉണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാല്

1. A message came to the prophet Haggai from the Lord. Haggai gave it to Zerubbabel and Jeshua. It came on the first day of the sixth month of the second year that Darius was king of Persia. Zerubbabel was governor of Judah and the son of Shealtiel. Jeshua was high priest and the son of Jehozadak. Here is what Haggai said.

2. സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുയഹോവയുടെ ആലയം പണിവാനുള്ള കാലം വന്നിട്ടില്ലെന്നു ഈ ജനം പറയുന്നുവല്ലോ.

2. The Lord who rules over all says, 'The people of Judah are saying, 'The time hasn't come yet for the Lord's temple to be rebuilt.' '

3. ഹഗ്ഗായി പ്രവാചകന് മുഖാന്തരം യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാല്

3. So the message came to me from the Lord. He said,

4. ഈ ആലയം ശൂന്യമായിരിക്കെ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു തട്ടിട്ട വീടുകളില് പാര്പ്പാന് കാലമായോ?

4. 'My temple is still destroyed. In spite of that, you are living in your houses that have beautiful wooden walls.'

5. ആകയാല് സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനിങ്ങളുടെ വഴികളെ വിചാരിച്ചുനോക്കുവിന് .

5. The Lord who rules over all says, 'Think carefully about how you are living.

6. നിങ്ങള് വളരെ വിതെച്ചിട്ടും അല്പമേ കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നുള്ളു; നിങ്ങള് ഭക്ഷിച്ചിട്ടും പൂര്ത്തിവരുന്നില്ല; പാനം ചെയ്തിട്ടും തൃപ്തിവരുന്നില്ല വസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചിട്ടും ആര്ക്കും കുളിര് മാറുന്നില്ല; കൂലിക്കാരന് ഔട്ടസഞ്ചിയില് ഇടുവാന് കൂലിവാങ്ങുന്നു.

6. You have planted many seeds. But the crops you have gathered are small. So you eat. But you never have enough. You drink. But you are never full. You put your clothes on. But you are not warm. You earn your pay. But it will not buy everything you need.'

7. സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുനിങ്ങളുടെ വഴികളെ വിചാരിച്ചുനോക്കുവിന് .

7. He continues, 'Think carefully about how you are living.

8. നിങ്ങള് മലയില് ചെന്നു മരം കൊണ്ടുവന്നു ആലയം പണിവിന് ; ഞാന് അതില് പ്രസാദിച്ചു മഹത്വപ്പെടും എന്നു യഹോവ കല്പിക്കുന്നു.

8. Go up into the mountains. Bring logs down. Use them to rebuild my house. Then I will enjoy it. And you will honor me,' says the Lord.

9. നിങ്ങള് അധികം കിട്ടുമെന്നു കാത്തിരുന്നു; എന്നാല് അതു അല്പമായ്തീര്ന്നു; നിങ്ങള് അതു വീട്ടില് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; ഞാനോ അതു ഊതിക്കളഞ്ഞു; അതെന്തുകൊണ്ടു? എന്റെ ആലയം ശൂന്യമായ്ക്കിടക്കയും നിങ്ങള് ഔരോരുത്തനും താന്താന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു ഔടുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു തന്നേ എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

9. 'You expected a lot. But you can see what a small amount it turned out to be,' announces the Lord who rules over all. 'I blew away what you brought home. Why? Because my temple is still destroyed. In spite of that, each one of you is busy with your own house.

10. അതുകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങള്നിമിത്തം ആകാശം മഞ്ഞു പെയ്യാതെ അടഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; ഭൂമി അനുഭവം തരുന്നതുമില്ല.

10. 'So because of what you have done, the heavens have held back the dew. And the earth has not produced its crops.

11. ഞാന് ദേശത്തിന്മേലും മലകളിന്മേലും ധാന്യത്തിന്മേലും വീഞ്ഞിന്മേലും എണ്ണയിന്മേലും നിലത്തെ വിളവിന്മേലും മനുഷ്യരുടെമേലും മൃഗങ്ങളുടെ മേലും കൈകളുടെ സകല പ്രയത്നത്തിന്മേലും വറുതിയെ വിളിച്ചുവരുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

11. I ordered the rain not to fall on the fields and mountains. Then the ground did not produce any grain. There were not enough grapes to make fresh wine. The trees did not bear enough olives to make oil. People and cattle suffered. All of your hard work failed.'

12. അങ്ങനെ ശെയല്തീയേലിന്റെ മകനായ സെരുബ്ബാബേലും മഹാപുരോഹിതനായി യെഹോസാദാക്കിന്റെ മകനായ യോശുവയും ജനത്തില് ശേഷിപ്പുള്ള ഏവരുമായി തങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ വാക്കും തങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നിയോഗത്തിന്നു ഒത്തവണ്ണം ഹഗ്ഗായി പ്രവാചകന്റെ വചനങ്ങളും കേട്ടനുസരിച്ചു; ജനം യഹോവയെ ഭയപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്തു.

12. Then Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, and the high priest Jeshua, the son of Jehozadak, obeyed the Lord their God. So did all of the Lord's people who were still left alive. He had given his message to them through me. He had sent me to speak to them. And the people had respect for him.

13. അപ്പോള് യഹോവയുടെ ദൂതനായ ഹഗ്ഗായി യഹോവയുടെ ദൂതായി ജനത്തോടുഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു കൂടെ ഉണ്ടെന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13. I was the Lord's messenger. So I gave his message to the people. I told them, 'The Lord announces, 'I am with you.' '

14. യഹോവ യെഹൂദാദേശാധിപതിയായി ശെയല്തീയേലിന്റെ മകനായ സെരുബ്ബാബേലിന്റെ മനസ്സും മഹാപുരോഹിതനായി യെഹോസാദാക്കിന്റെ മകനായ യോശുവയുടെ മനസ്സും ജനത്തില് ശേഷിപ്പുള്ള ഏവരുടെയും മനസ്സും ഉണര്ത്തി; അവര് വന്നു തങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിങ്കല് വേല ചെയ്തു.

14. So the Lord stirred up the spirits of Zerubbabel, the governor of Judah, and the high priest Jeshua. He also stirred up the rest of the people to help them. Then everyone began to work on the temple of the Lord who rules over all. He is their God.

15. ദാര്യ്യാവേശ് രാജാവിന്റെ രണ്ടാം ആണ്ടു ആറാം മാസം ഇരുപത്തുനാലാം തിയ്യതി തന്നേ.

15. It was the 24th day of the sixth month of the second year that Darius was king.
