1. മോശെ ഒരു കൂശ്യസ്ത്രീയെ വിവാഹം ചെയ്തിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു കൂശ്യസ്ത്രീനിമിത്തം മിര്യ്യാമും അഹരോനും അവന്നു വിരോധമായി സംസാരിച്ചു

1. Miriam and Aaron talked against Moses behind his back because of his Cushite wife (he had married a Cushite woman).

2. യഹോവ മോശെ മുഖാന്തരം മാത്രമേ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ളുവോ? ഞങ്ങള് മുഖാന്തരവും അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ലയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; യഹോവ അതു കേട്ടു.

2. They said, 'Is it only through Moses that GOD speaks? Doesn't he also speak through us?' GOD overheard their talk.

3. മോശെ എന്ന പുരുഷനോ ഭൂതലത്തില് ഉള്ള സകലമനുഷ്യരിലും അതിസൌമ്യനായിരുന്നു.

3. Now the man Moses was a quietly humble man, more so than anyone living on Earth.

4. പെട്ടെന്നു യഹോവ മോശെയോടും അഹരോനോടും മിര്യ്യാമിനോടുംനിങ്ങള് മൂവരും സമാഗമനക്കുടാരത്തിങ്കല് വരുവിന് എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു; അവര് മൂവരും ചെന്നു.

4. GOD broke in suddenly on Moses and Aaron and Miriam saying, 'Come out, you three, to the Tent of Meeting.' The three went out.

5. യഹോവ മേഘസ്തംഭത്തില് ഇറങ്ങി കൂടാരവാതില്ക്കല് നിന്നു അഹരോനെയും മിര്യ്യാമിനെയും വിളിച്ചു; അവര് ഇരുവരും അങ്ങോട്ടു ചെന്നു.

5. GOD descended in a Pillar of Cloud and stood at the entrance to the Tent. He called Aaron and Miriam to him. When they stepped out,

6. പിന്നെ അവന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുഎന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ കേള്പ്പിന് ; നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് ഒരു പ്രവാചകന് ഉണ്ടെങ്കില് യഹോവയായ ഞാന് അവന്നു ദര്ശനത്തില് എന്നെ വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുകയും സ്വപ്നത്തില് അവനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്കയും ചെയ്യും.

6. he said, Listen carefully to what I'm telling you. If there is a prophet of GOD among you, I make myself known to him in visions, I speak to him in dreams.

7. എന്റെ ദാസനായ മോശെയോ അങ്ങനെയല്ല; അവന് എന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തില് ഒക്കെയും വിശ്വസ്തന് ആകുന്നു.

7. But I don't do it that way with my servant Moses; he has the run of my entire house;

8. അവനോടു ഞാന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നതു മറപൊരുളായിട്ടല്ല അഭിമുഖമായിട്ടും സ്പഷ്ടമായിട്ടും അത്രേ; അവന് യഹോവയുടെ രൂപം കാണുകയും ചെയ്യും. അങ്ങനെയിരിക്കെ നിങ്ങള് എന്റെ ദാസനായ മോശെക്കു വിരോധമായി സംസാരിപ്പാന് ശങ്കിക്കാഞ്ഞതു എന്തു?

8. I speak to him intimately, in person, in plain talk without riddles: He ponders the very form of GOD. So why did you show no reverence or respect in speaking against my servant, against Moses?

9. യഹോവയുടെ കോപം അവരുടെ നേരെ ജ്വലിച്ചു അവന് മറഞ്ഞു.

9. The anger of GOD blazed out against them. And then he left.

10. മേഘവും കൂടാരത്തിന്മേല് നിന്നു നീങ്ങിപ്പോയി. മിര്യ്യാം ഹിമംപോലെ വെളുത്തു കുഷ്ഠരോഗിണിയായി; അഹരോന് മിര്യ്യാമിനെ നോക്കിയപ്പോള് അവള് കുഷ്ടരോഗിണി എന്നു കണ്ടു.

10. When the Cloud moved off from the Tent, oh! Miriam had turned leprous, her skin like snow. Aaron took one look at Miriam--a leper!

11. അഹരോന് മോശെയോടുഅയ്യോ യജമാനനേ, ഞങ്ങള് ഭോഷത്വമായി ചെയ്തുപോയ ഈ പാപം ഞങ്ങളുടെമേല് വെക്കരുതേ.

11. He said to Moses, 'Please, my master, please don't come down so hard on us for this foolish and thoughtless sin.

12. അമ്മയുടെ ഗര്ഭത്തില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുമ്പോള് മാംസം പകുതി അഴുകിയിരിക്കുന്ന ചാപിള്ളയെപ്പോലെ ഇവള് ആകരുതേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

12. Please don't make her like a stillborn baby coming out of its mother's womb with half its body decomposed.'

13. അപ്പോള് മോശെ യഹോവയോടുദൈവമേ, അവളെ സൌഖ്യമാക്കേണമേ എന്നു നിലവിളിച്ചു.

13. And Moses prayed to GOD: Please, God, heal her, please heal her.

14. യഹോവ മോശെയോടുഅവളുടെ അപ്പന് അവളുടെ മുഖത്തു തുപ്പിയെങ്കില് അവള് ഏഴുദിവസം ലജ്ജിച്ചിരിക്കയില്ലയോ? അവളെ ഏഴു ദിവസത്തേക്കു പാളയത്തിന്നു പുറത്തു അടെച്ചിടേണം; പിന്നത്തേതില് അവളെ ചേര്ത്തുകൊള്ളാം എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

14. GOD answered Moses, 'If her father had spat in her face, wouldn't she be ostracized for seven days? Quarantine her outside the camp for seven days. Then she can be readmitted to the camp.'

15. ഇങ്ങനെ മിര്യ്യാമിനെ ഏഴു ദിവസം പാളയത്തിന്നു പുറത്തു ആക്കി അടെച്ചിട്ടു; അവളെ വീണ്ടും അംഗീകരിച്ചതുവരെ ജനം യാത്ര ചെയ്യാതിരുന്നു.

15. So Miriam was in quarantine outside the camp for seven days. The people didn't march on until she was readmitted.

16. അതിന്റെ ശേഷം ജനം ഹസേരോത്തില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു പാരാന് മരുഭൂമിയില് പാളയമിറങ്ങി.

16. Only then did the people march from Hazeroth and set up camp in the Wilderness of Paran.
