1. മോശെ ഒരു കൂശ്യസ്ത്രീയെ വിവാഹം ചെയ്തിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു കൂശ്യസ്ത്രീനിമിത്തം മിര്യ്യാമും അഹരോനും അവന്നു വിരോധമായി സംസാരിച്ചു

1. Moses had married a Cushite woman, and Miriam and Aaron criticized him for it.

2. യഹോവ മോശെ മുഖാന്തരം മാത്രമേ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ളുവോ? ഞങ്ങള് മുഖാന്തരവും അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ലയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; യഹോവ അതു കേട്ടു.

2. They said, 'Has the LORD spoken only through Moses? Hasn't he also spoken through us?' The LORD heard what they said.

3. മോശെ എന്ന പുരുഷനോ ഭൂതലത്തില് ഉള്ള സകലമനുഷ്യരിലും അതിസൌമ്യനായിരുന്നു.

3. (Moses was a humble man, more humble than anyone else on earth.)

4. പെട്ടെന്നു യഹോവ മോശെയോടും അഹരോനോടും മിര്യ്യാമിനോടുംനിങ്ങള് മൂവരും സമാഗമനക്കുടാരത്തിങ്കല് വരുവിന് എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു; അവര് മൂവരും ചെന്നു.

4. Suddenly the LORD said to Moses, Aaron, and Miriam, 'I want the three of you to come out to the Tent of my presence.' They went,

5. യഹോവ മേഘസ്തംഭത്തില് ഇറങ്ങി കൂടാരവാതില്ക്കല് നിന്നു അഹരോനെയും മിര്യ്യാമിനെയും വിളിച്ചു; അവര് ഇരുവരും അങ്ങോട്ടു ചെന്നു.

5. and the LORD came down in a pillar of cloud, stood at the entrance of the Tent, and called out, 'Aaron! Miriam!' The two of them stepped forward,

6. പിന്നെ അവന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുഎന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ കേള്പ്പിന് ; നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് ഒരു പ്രവാചകന് ഉണ്ടെങ്കില് യഹോവയായ ഞാന് അവന്നു ദര്ശനത്തില് എന്നെ വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുകയും സ്വപ്നത്തില് അവനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്കയും ചെയ്യും.

6. and the LORD said, 'Now hear what I have to say! When there are prophets among you, I reveal myself to them in visions and speak to them in dreams.

7. എന്റെ ദാസനായ മോശെയോ അങ്ങനെയല്ല; അവന് എന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തില് ഒക്കെയും വിശ്വസ്തന് ആകുന്നു.

7. It is different when I speak with my servant Moses; I have put him in charge of all my people Israel.

8. അവനോടു ഞാന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നതു മറപൊരുളായിട്ടല്ല അഭിമുഖമായിട്ടും സ്പഷ്ടമായിട്ടും അത്രേ; അവന് യഹോവയുടെ രൂപം കാണുകയും ചെയ്യും. അങ്ങനെയിരിക്കെ നിങ്ങള് എന്റെ ദാസനായ മോശെക്കു വിരോധമായി സംസാരിപ്പാന് ശങ്കിക്കാഞ്ഞതു എന്തു?

8. So I speak to him face-to-face, clearly and not in riddles; he has even seen my form! How dare you speak against my servant Moses?'

9. യഹോവയുടെ കോപം അവരുടെ നേരെ ജ്വലിച്ചു അവന് മറഞ്ഞു.

9. The LORD was angry with them; and so as he departed

10. മേഘവും കൂടാരത്തിന്മേല് നിന്നു നീങ്ങിപ്പോയി. മിര്യ്യാം ഹിമംപോലെ വെളുത്തു കുഷ്ഠരോഗിണിയായി; അഹരോന് മിര്യ്യാമിനെ നോക്കിയപ്പോള് അവള് കുഷ്ടരോഗിണി എന്നു കണ്ടു.

10. and the cloud left the Tent, Miriam's skin was suddenly covered with a dreaded disease and turned as white as snow. When Aaron looked at her and saw that she was covered with the disease,

11. അഹരോന് മോശെയോടുഅയ്യോ യജമാനനേ, ഞങ്ങള് ഭോഷത്വമായി ചെയ്തുപോയ ഈ പാപം ഞങ്ങളുടെമേല് വെക്കരുതേ.

11. he said to Moses, 'Please, sir, do not make us suffer this punishment for our foolish sin.

12. അമ്മയുടെ ഗര്ഭത്തില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുമ്പോള് മാംസം പകുതി അഴുകിയിരിക്കുന്ന ചാപിള്ളയെപ്പോലെ ഇവള് ആകരുതേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

12. Don't let her become like something born dead with half its flesh eaten away.'

13. അപ്പോള് മോശെ യഹോവയോടുദൈവമേ, അവളെ സൌഖ്യമാക്കേണമേ എന്നു നിലവിളിച്ചു.

13. So Moses cried out to the LORD, 'O God, heal her!'

14. യഹോവ മോശെയോടുഅവളുടെ അപ്പന് അവളുടെ മുഖത്തു തുപ്പിയെങ്കില് അവള് ഏഴുദിവസം ലജ്ജിച്ചിരിക്കയില്ലയോ? അവളെ ഏഴു ദിവസത്തേക്കു പാളയത്തിന്നു പുറത്തു അടെച്ചിടേണം; പിന്നത്തേതില് അവളെ ചേര്ത്തുകൊള്ളാം എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

14. The LORD answered, 'If her father had spit in her face, she would have to bear her disgrace for seven days. So let her be shut out of the camp for a week, and after that she can be brought back in.'

15. ഇങ്ങനെ മിര്യ്യാമിനെ ഏഴു ദിവസം പാളയത്തിന്നു പുറത്തു ആക്കി അടെച്ചിട്ടു; അവളെ വീണ്ടും അംഗീകരിച്ചതുവരെ ജനം യാത്ര ചെയ്യാതിരുന്നു.

15. Miriam was shut out of the camp for seven days, and the people did not move on until she was brought back in.

16. അതിന്റെ ശേഷം ജനം ഹസേരോത്തില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു പാരാന് മരുഭൂമിയില് പാളയമിറങ്ങി.

16. Then they left Hazeroth and set up camp in the wilderness of Paran.
