1. അപ്പോള് സഭയൊക്കെയും ഉറക്കെ നിലവിളിച്ചു, ജനം ആ രാത്രി മുഴുവനും കരഞ്ഞു.

1. Then did all the assembly lift up, and give forth their voice, and the people wept throughout that night.

2. യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് എല്ലാവരും മോശെക്കും അഹരോന്നും വിരോധമായി പിറുപിറുത്തു; സഭ ഒക്കെയും അവരോടുമിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുവെച്ചു ഞങ്ങള് മരിച്ചുപോയിരുന്നു എങ്കില് കൊള്ളായിരുന്നു. അല്ലെങ്കില് ഈ മരുഭൂമിയില്വെച്ചു ഞങ്ങള് മരിച്ചുപോയിരുന്നു എങ്കില് കൊള്ളായിരുന്നു.

2. And all the sons of Israel, murmured against Moses and against Aaron, and all the assembly said unto them Oh that we had died in the land of Egypt, Or in this wilderness, oh that we had died!

3. വാളാല് വീഴേണ്ടതിന്നു യഹോവ ഞങ്ങളെ ആ ദേശത്തിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോകുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു? ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഭാര്യമാരും മക്കളും കൊള്ളയായ്പോകുമല്ലോ; മിസ്രയീമിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകയല്ലയോ ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു നല്ലതു? എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

3. Wherefore then is Yahweh bringing us into this land, to fall by the sword? Our wives and little ones, will become a prey! Would it not be well for us to go back towards Egypt?

4. And they said, one to another, Let us appoint a head and let us go back towards Egypt.

5. Then did Moses and Aaron fall upon their faces, before all the convocation of the assembly of the sons of Israel.

6. But, Joshua son of Nun, and Caleb son of Jephunneh, of them who spied out the land, rent their clothes;

7. യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളുടെ സര്വ്വസഭയോടും പറഞ്ഞതു എന്തെന്നാല്ഞങ്ങള് സഞ്ചരിച്ചു ഒറ്റുനോക്കിയ ദേശം എത്രയും നല്ല ദേശം ആകുന്നു.

7. and spake unto all the assembly of the sons of Israel, saying, As for the land through which we passed to spy it out, Good, is the land, exceedingly,

8. യഹോവ നമ്മില് പ്രസാദിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് അവന് നമ്മെ പാലും തേനും ഒഴുകുന്ന ആ ദേശത്തേക്കു കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു നമുക്കു അതു തരും.

8. If Yahweh delight in us, then will he bring us into this and, and give it unto us, A land which doth flow with milk and honey.

9. യഹോവയോടു നിങ്ങള് മത്സരിക്കമാത്രം അരുതു; ആ ദേശത്തിലെ ജനത്തെ ഭയപ്പെടരുതു; അവര് നമുക്കു ഇരയാകുന്നു; അവരുടെ ശരണം പോയ്പോയിരിക്കുന്നു; നമ്മോടുകൂടെ യഹോവ ഉള്ളതുകൊണ്ടു അവരെ ഭയപ്പെടരുതു.

9. Only against Yahweh, do not rebel. Do not, ye, fear the people of the land, For our food, they are, Their shade hath departed, from over them. And Yahweh is with us, Do not fear them!

10. എന്നാറെ അവരെ കല്ലെറിയേണം എന്നു സഭയെല്ലാം പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോള് യഹോവയുടെ തേജസ്സു സമാഗമനക്കുടാരത്തില് എല്ലായിസ്രായേല്മക്കളും കാണ്കെ പ്രത്യക്ഷമായി.

10. But when all the assembly bade stone them with stones, the glory of Yahweh, appeared, in the tent of meeting, unto all the sons of Israel.

11. യഹോവ മോശെയോടുഈ ജനം എത്രത്തോളം എന്നെ നിരസിക്കും? ഞാന് അവരുടെ മദ്ധ്യേ ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ള അടയാളങ്ങളൊക്കെയും കണ്ടിട്ടും അവര് എത്രത്തോളം എന്നെ വിശ്വസിക്കാതിരിക്കും?

11. Then said Yahweh unto How long! must this people, despise me? And how long can they not believe in me. in view of all the signs which I have done in their midst?

12. ഞാന് അവരെ മഹാമാരിയാല് ദണ്ഡിപ്പിച്ചു സംഹരിച്ചുകളകയും നിന്നെ അവരെക്കാള് വലിപ്പവും ബലവുമുള്ള ജാതിയാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

12. Let me smite them with pestilence, and disinherit them, And make thee into a nation greater and more mighty than they!

13. മോശെ യഹോവയോടു പറഞ്ഞതുഎന്നാല് മിസ്രയീമ്യര് അതു കേള്ക്കും; നീ ഈ ജനത്തെ അവരുടെ ഇടയില്നിന്നു നിന്റെ ശക്തിയാല് കൊണ്ടുപോന്നുവല്ലോ.

13. Then said Moses unto Yahweh, So shall the Egyptians hear, For thou hast brought up. in thy might, this people out of their midst;

14. അവര് അതു ഈ ദേശനിവാസികളോടും പറയും; യഹോവയായ നീ ഈ ജനത്തിന്റെ മദ്ധ്യേ ഉണ്ടെന്നു അവര് കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; യഹോവയായ നിന്നെ ഇവര് കണ്ണാലേ കാണുകയും നിന്റെ മേഘം ഇവര്ക്കും മീതെ നിലക്കുകയും പകല് മേഘസ്തംഭത്തിലും രാത്രി അഗ്നിസ്തംഭത്തിലും നീ ഇവര്ക്കും മുമ്പായി നടക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നുവല്ലോ.

14. And will tell it unto the inhabitants of this land: They have heard, That, thou, Yahweh, art in the midst of this people, That eye to eye, is he seen thou, Yahweh, And thy cloud, is standing over them, And in a pillar of cloud, thou thyself, art going on before them by day, And in a pillar of fire, by night.

15. നീ ഇപ്പോള് ഈ ജനത്തെ ഒക്കെയും ഒരു ഒറ്റമനുഷ്യനെപ്പോലെ കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞാല് നിന്റെ കീര്ത്തി കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന ജാതികള്

15. As soon, therefore, as thou hast put to death this people as one man, so soon will the nations who have heard thy fame speak saying:

16. ഈ ജനത്തോടു സത്യം ചെയ്ത ദേശത്തേക്കു അവരെ കൊണ്ടു പോകുവാന് യഹോവേക്കു കഴിയായ്കകൊണ്ടു അവന് അവരെ മരുഭൂമിയില്വെച്ചു കൊന്നു കളഞ്ഞു എന്നു പറയും.

16. Because Yahweh, was not able, to bring in this people into the land which he had sworn unto them, therefore did he slay them in the desert.

17. യഹോവ ദീര്ഘക്ഷമയും മഹാദയയും ഉള്ളവന് ; അകൃത്യവും ലംഘനവും ക്ഷമിക്കുന്നവന് ; കുറ്റക്കാരനെ വെറുതെ വിടാതെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ അകൃത്യം മൂന്നാമത്തെയും നാലാമത്തെയും തലമുറയോളം മക്കളുടെ മേല് സന്ദര്ശിക്കുന്നവന്

17. Now, therefore, I beseech thee let the might of My Lord, be magnified, according as thou didst speak saying:

18. എന്നിങ്ങനെ നീ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുപോലെ കര്ത്താവേ, ഇപ്പോള് നിന്റെ ശക്തി വലുതായിരിക്കേണമേ.

18. Yahweh slow to anger and great in lovingkindness, Forgiving iniquity and transgression: Though he will not leave, wholly unpunished, Visiting the iniquity of fathers upon sons, Upon a third generation, and upon a fourth.

19. നിന്റെ മഹാദയെക്കു തക്കവണ്ണം മിസ്രയീംമുതല് ഇവിടംവരെ ഈ ജനത്തോടു നീ ക്ഷമിച്ചുവന്നതുപോലെ ഈ ജനത്തിന്റെ അകൃത്യം ക്ഷമിക്കേണമേ.

19. Pardon I beseech thee, the iniquity of this people, According to the greatness of thy lovingkindness, And according as thou hast forgiven this people, from Egypt even thus far.

20. അതിന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുനിന്റെ അപേക്ഷപ്രകാരം ഞാന് ക്ഷമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

20. And Yahweh said, I have pardoned according to thy word;

21. എങ്കിലും എന്നാണ, ഭൂമിയെല്ലാം യഹോവയുടെ തേജസ്സുകൊണ്ടു നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കും.

21. Nevertheless as I live, and that all the earth may be filled with the glory of Yahweh,

22. Verily, none of the men who have been beholding my glory and my signs, which I have done in Egypt and in the desert, and have put me to the proof these ten times, and have not hearkened unto my voice,

23. അവരുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു ഞാന് സത്യം ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ള ദേശം അവര് കാണ്കയില്ല; എന്നെ നിരസിച്ചവര് ആരും അതു കാണ്കയില്ല.

23. shall see the land, which I sware to their fathers, yea, none of my despisers, shall see it.

24. എന്റെ ദാസനായ കാലേബോ, അവന്നു വേറൊരു സ്വഭാവമുള്ളതുകൊണ്ടും എന്നെ പൂര്ണ്ണമായി അനുസരിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടും അവന് പോയിരുന്ന ദേശത്തേക്കു ഞാന് അവനെ എത്തിക്കും; അവന്റെ സന്തതി അതു കൈവശമാക്കും.

24. But my servant Caleb because there was another spirit with him, and he followed me fully, therefore will I bring him into the land whereinto he entered, and his seed, shall possess it.

25. എന്നാല് അമാലേക്യരും കനാന്യരും താഴ്വരയില് പാര്ക്കുംന്നതുകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങള് നാളെ ചെങ്കടലിങ്കലേക്കുള്ള വഴിയായി മരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകുവിന് .

25. Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites, are dwelling in the valley, to-morrow, turn ye away; and set yourselves forward towards the desert by the way of the Red Sea.

26. യഹോവ പിന്നെയും മോശെയോടും അഹരോനോടും അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു

26. Then spake Yahweh unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying:

27. ഈ ദുഷ്ടസഭ എത്രത്തോളം എനിക്കു വിരോധമായി പിറുപിറുക്കും? യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് എനിക്കു വിരോധമായി പിറുപിറുക്കുന്നതു ഞാന് കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

27. How long, as regardeth this evil assembly, re they to be murmuring against me? The murmuring of the sons of Israel which, they, have been murmuring against me, have I heard,

28. അവരോടു പറവിന് ഞാന് കേള്ക്കെ നിങ്ങള് പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ തന്നേ, എന്നാണ, ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു ചെയ്യുമെന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

28. Say unto them: As I live, is the oracle of Yahweh: Surely as ye have spoken in mine ears, so, will I do unto you:

29. ഈ മരുഭൂമിയില് നിങ്ങളുടെ ശവം വീഴും; യെഫുന്നയുടെ മകന് കാലേബും നൂന്റെ മകന് യോശുവയും ഒഴികെ ഇരുപതു വയസ്സുമുതല് മേലോട്ടു എണ്ണപ്പെട്ടവരായി

29. In this desert, shall your dead bodies fall And none of you who were numbered in all your counting, from twenty years old and upwards, who have murmured against me,

30. എന്റെ നേരെ പിറുപിറുത്തവരായ നിങ്ങളുടെ എണ്ണത്തില് ആരും ഞാന് നിങ്ങളെ പാര്പ്പിക്കുമെന്നു സത്യം ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ള ദേശത്തു കടക്കയില്ല.

30. none of you, shall enter into the land, as to which I uplifted my hand to give you an abode therein, save Caleb son of Jephunneh, and Joshua, son of Nun:

31. whereas, your little ones, of whom ye said, they should become, a prey, I will bring them in, and they shall acknowledge the land which ye refused.

32. നിങ്ങളോ, നിങ്ങളുടെ ശവം ഈ മരുഭൂമിയില് വീഴും.

32. But, your own dead bodies, shall fall in this desert;

33. നിങ്ങളുടെ ശവം മരുഭൂമിയില് ഒടുങ്ങുംവരെ നിങ്ങളുടെ മക്കള് മരുഭൂമിയില് നാല്പതു സംവത്സരം ഇടയരായി സഞ്ചരിച്ചു നിങ്ങളുടെ പാതിവ്രത്യഭംഗം വഹിക്കും;

33. and your sons, shall be shepherds in the desert forty years, and shall bear your unchastities, until your dead bodies are consumed in the desert.

34. ദേശം ഒറ്റുനോക്കിയ നാല്പതു ദിവസത്തിന്റെ എണ്ണത്തിന്നൊത്തവണ്ണം, ഒരു ദിവസത്തിന്നു ഒരു സംവത്സരം വീതം, നാല്പതു സംവത്സരം നിങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളുടെ അകൃത്യങ്ങള് വഹിച്ചു എന്റെ അകല്ച അറിയും.

34. By the number of the days wherein ye spied out the land forty days, each day for a year, shall they bear your iniquities forty years, so shall ye know my opposition.

35. I Yahweh, have spoken, Verily this, will I do to all this evil assembly, who have conspired against me, In this desert, shall they be consumed And there, shall they die.

36. ദേശം ഒറ്റുനോക്കുവാന് മോശെ അയച്ചവരും, മടങ്ങിവന്നു ദേശത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ദുര്വ്വര്ത്തമാനം പറഞ്ഞു സഭ മുഴുവനും അവന്നു വിരോധമായി പിറുപിറുപ്പാന് സംഗതി വരുത്തിയ വരും,

36. Now as for the men whom Moses sent to spy out the land, who returned and caused all the assembly to murmur against him by giving out rumour against the land,

37. ദേശത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ദുര്വ്വര്ത്തമാനം പറഞ്ഞവരുമായ പുരുഷന്മാര് യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ ഒരു ബാധകൊണ്ടു മരിച്ചു.

37. they died the men who gave out an evil rumor of the land, by the plague, before Yahweh.

38. എന്നാല് ദേശം ഒറ്റുനോക്കുവാന് പോയ പുരുഷന്മാരില് നൂന്റെ മകന് യോശുവയും യെഫുന്നയുടെ പുത്രന് കാലേബും മരിച്ചില്ല.

38. But, Joshua son of Nun, and Caleb son of Jephunneh! remained alive of those men who went to spy out the land.

39. പിന്നെ മോശെ ഈ വാക്കുകള് യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളോടൊക്കെയും പറഞ്ഞു; ജനം ഏറ്റവും ദുഃഖിച്ചു.

39. And Moses spake these words unto all the sons of Israel, and the people were greatly depressed.

40. പിറ്റേന്നു അവര് അതികാലത്തു എഴുന്നേറ്റുഇതാ, യഹോവ ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു ചൊല്ലിയിരിക്കുന്ന സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു ഞങ്ങള് കയറിപ്പോകുന്നുഞങ്ങള് പാപം ചെയ്തുപോയി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു മലമുകളില് കയറി.

40. So they arose early in the morning, and went up into the top of the mountain, saying, We are here therefore will we go up into the place as to which Yahweh hath said that we have sinned.

41. അപ്പോള് മോശെനിങ്ങള് എന്തിന്നു യഹോവയുടെ കല്പന ലംഘിക്കുന്നു? അതു സാദ്ധ്യമാകയില്ല.

41. But Moses said, Wherefore is it that, ye, are going beyond the bidding of Yahweh, since that cannot prosper?

42. ശത്രുക്കളാല് തോല്ക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങള് കയറരുതു; യഹോവ നിങ്ങളുടെ മദ്ധ്യേ ഇല്ല.

42. Do not go up, For Yahweh is not in your midst, Lest ye be smitten down before your enemies.

43. അമാലേക്യരും കനാന്യരും അവിടെ നിങ്ങളുടെ മുമ്പില് ഉണ്ടു; നിങ്ങള് വാളാല് വീഴും; നിങ്ങള് യഹോവയെ വിട്ടു പിന്തിരിഞ്ഞിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

43. For, the Amalekites and the Canaanites, are there before you, So shall ye fall by the sword, For inasmuch as ye have turned back from following Yahweh, Therefore will Yahweh not be with you.

44. എന്നിട്ടും അവര് ധാര്ഷ്ട്യം പൂണ്ടു മലമുകളില് കയറി; യഹോവയുടെ നിയമപെട്ടകവും മോശെയും പാളയത്തില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടില്ലതാനും.

44. But they presumptuously ascended into the top of the mountain, though, neither, the ark of the covenant of Yahweh nor Mosses moved out of the midst of the camp.

45. എന്നാറെ മലയില് പാര്ത്തിരുന്ന അമാലേക്യരും കനാന്യരും ഇറങ്ങിവന്നു അവരെ തോല്പിച്ചു ഹോര്മ്മാവരെ അവരെ ഛിന്നിച്ചു ഔടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

45. So ten the Amalekites and the Canaanites, that dwelt in that mountain, came down, and smote them and routed them even unto Hormah.
