1. ചില ദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം അവന് പിന്നെയും കഫര്ന്നഹൂമില് ചെന്നു; അവന് വീട്ടില് ഉണ്ടെന്നു ശ്രുതിയായി.

1. After a few days he entered into Capernaum again, and it was noised that he was in a house:

2. ഉടനെ വാതില്ക്കല്പോലും ഇടമില്ലാത്തവണ്ണം പലരും വന്നു കൂടി, അവന് അവരോടു തിരുവചനം പ്രസ്താവിച്ചു.

2. And anon many gathered together,(togedder) insomuch that now there was no room to receive them: no, not in places(not so much as) about the door. And he preached(the word) unto them.

3. അപ്പോള് നാലാള് ഒരു പക്ഷവാതക്കാരനെ ചുമന്നു അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

3. And there came unto him that brought one sick of the palsy, borne of four men:

4. പുരുഷാരം നിമിത്തം അവനോടു സമീപിച്ചു കൂടായ്കയാല് അവന് ഇരുന്ന സ്ഥലത്തിന്റെ മേല്പുര പൊളിച്ചു തുറന്നു, പക്ഷവാതക്കാരനെ കിടക്കയോടെ ഇറക്കി വെച്ചു.

4. and because they could not come nigh unto him for press: They opened(uncovered) the roof of the house where he was. And when they had broken it open, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.

5. യേശു അവരുടെ വിശ്വാസം കണ്ടിട്ടു പക്ഷവാതക്കാരനോടുമകനേ, നിന്റെ പാപങ്ങള് മോചിച്ചുതന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the sick of the palsy, son thy sins are forgiven thee.

6. അവിടെ ചില ശാസ്ത്രിമാര് ഇരുന്നുഇവന് ഇങ്ങനെ ദൈവദൂഷണം പറയുന്നതു എന്തു?

6. (And) There were certain of the scribes sitting, (there) and reasoning in their hearts:

7. ദൈവം ഒരുവന് അല്ലാതെ പാപങ്ങളെ മോചിപ്പാന് കഴിയുന്നവന് ആര് എന്നു ഹൃദയത്തില് ചിന്തിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

7. how doth this fellow so blaspheme? Who can forgiven sins, but God only?

8. ഇങ്ങനെ അവര് ഉള്ളില് ചിന്തിക്കുന്നതു യേശു ഉടനെ മനസ്സില് ഗ്രഹിച്ചു അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് ഹൃദയത്തില് ഇങ്ങനെ ചിന്തിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു?

8. And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit, that they so reasoned in themselves, he said unto them: why think ye such things in your hearts?

9. പക്ഷവാതക്കാരനോടു നിന്റെ പാപങ്ങള് മോചിച്ചുതന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറയുന്നതോ, എഴുന്നേറ്റു കിടക്ക എടുത്തു നടക്ക എന്നു പറയുന്നതോ, ഏതാകുന്നു എളുപ്പം എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

9. Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, thy sins are forgiven thee: or to say, arise, take up thy bed and walk?

10. എന്നാല് ഭൂമിയില് പാപങ്ങളെ മോചിപ്പാന് മനുഷ്യപുത്രന്നു അധികാരം ഉണ്ടു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് അറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു — അവന് പക്ഷവാതക്കാരനോടു

10. That ye may know that the son of man hath power in earth to forgive sins, he spake unto the sick of the palsy:

11. എഴുന്നേറ്റു കിടക്ക എടുത്തു വീട്ടിലേക്കു പോക എന്നു ഞാന് നിന്നോടു പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

11. I say unto thee, arise and take up thy bed, and get thee hence into thine own house.

12. ഉടനെ അവന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു കിടക്ക എടുത്തു എല്ലാവരും കാണ്കെ പുറപ്പെട്ടു; അതു കൊണ്ടു എല്ലാവരും വിസ്മയിച്ചുഇങ്ങനെ ഒരു നാളും കണ്ടിട്ടില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു ദൈവത്തെ മഹത്വപ്പെടുത്തി.

12. And by and by he arose, took up his(the) bed, and went forth before them all: insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God saying: we never saw it on this fashion.

13. അവന് പിന്നെയും കടല്ക്കരെ ചെന്നു; പുരുഷാരം ഒക്കെയും അവന്റെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു; അവന് അവരെ ഉപദേശിച്ചു.

13. And he went out again unto the sea, and all the people resorted unto him, and he taught them.

14. പിന്നെ അവന് കടന്നു പോകുമ്പോള് അല്ഫായിയുടെ മകനായ ലേവി ചുങ്കസ്ഥലത്തു ഇരിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടുഎന്നെ അനുഗമിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അവന് എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവനെ അനുഗമിച്ചു.

14. And as Jesus passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphey, sit at the receipt of custom and said unto him: follow me. And he arose and followed him.

15. അവന് വീട്ടില് പന്തിയില് ഇരിക്കുമ്പോള് പല ചുങ്കക്കാരും പാപികളും യേശുവിനോടും അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരോടും കൂടി പന്തിയില് ഇരുന്നു; അവനെ അനുഗമിച്ചുവന്നവര് അനേകര് ആയിരുന്നു.

15. And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat at meat also with Jesus and his disciples. For there were many that followed him.

16. അവന് ചുങ്കക്കാരോടും പാപികളോടും കൂടെ തിന്നുകയും കൂടിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നതു പരീശന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിലുള്ള ശാസ്ത്രിമാര് കണ്ടിട്ടു അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരോടുഅവന് ചുങ്കക്കാരോടും പാപികളോടും കൂടെ തിന്നുകുടിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

16. And when the scribes and pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples: how is it, that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners?

17. യേശു അതു കേട്ടു അവരോടുദീനക്കാര്ക്കല്ലാതെ സൌഖ്യമുള്ളവര്ക്കും വൈദ്യനെക്കൊണ്ടു ആവശ്യമില്ല; ഞാന് നീതിമാന്മാരെ അല്ല, പാപികളെ അത്രേ വിളിപ്പാന് വന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

17. When Jesus heard that, he said unto them. The whole have no need of the Physician: but the sick. I came to call the sinners to repentance, and not the just.(I came not to call the righteous, but the sinners to repentance.)

18. യോഹന്നാന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരും പരീശന്മാരും ഉപവസിക്ക പതിവായിരുന്നു; അവര് വന്നു അവനോടുയോഹന്നാന്റെയും പരീശന്മാരുടെയും ശിഷ്യന്മാര് ഉപവസിക്കുന്നു വല്ലോ; നിന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാര് ഉപവസിക്കാത്തതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

18. And the disciples of John and of the pharisees did fast, and they(therefore) came and said unto him: Why do the disciples of John and of the pharisees fast, and thy disciples fast not.

19. യേശു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതുമണവാളന് കൂടെ ഉള്ളപ്പോള് തോഴ്മക്കാര്ക്കും ഉപവസിപ്പാന് കഴിയുമോ? മണവാളന് കൂടെ ഇരിക്കുംകാലത്തോളം അവര്ക്കും ഉപവസിപ്പാന് കഴികയില്ല.

19. And Jesus said unto them: can the children of a wedding fast, while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.

20. എന്നാല് മണവാളന് അവരെ വിട്ടുപിരിയേണ്ടുന്ന കാലം വരും; അന്നു, ആ കാലത്തു അവര് ഉപവസിക്കും.

20. But the days will come when the bridegroom shall be taken from them and then shall they fast in those days.

21. പഴയ വസ്ത്രത്തില് കോടിത്തുണിക്കണ്ടം ആരും ചേര്ത്തു തുന്നുമാറില്ല; തുന്നിയാല് ചേര്ത്ത പുതുക്കണ്ടം പഴയതില് നിന്നു വലിഞ്ഞിട്ടു ചീന്തല് ഏറ്റവും വല്ലാതെ ആകും.

21. Also no man soweth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for then taketh he away the new piece from the old, and so is the rent worse.

22. ആരും പുതിയ വീഞ്ഞു പഴയ തുരുത്തിയില് പകര്ന്നു വെക്കുമാറില്ല; വെച്ചാല് പുതുവീഞ്ഞു തുരുത്തിയെ പൊളിക്കും; വീഞ്ഞു ഒഴുകിപ്പോകും; തുരുത്തി നശിച്ചുപോകും; പുതിയ വീഞ്ഞു പുതിയ തുരുത്തിയിലത്രേ പകര്ന്നു വെക്കേണ്ടതു.

22. In like wise, no man poureth new wine into old vessels, for if he do the new wine breaketh the vessels, and the wine runneth out, and the vessels are marred. But new wine must be poured into new vessels.

23. അവന് ശബ്ബത്തില് വിളഭൂമിയില്കൂടി കടന്നുപോകുമ്പോള് അവന്റെ ശീഷ്യന്മാര് വഴിനടക്കയില് കതിര് പറിങ്ങുതുടങ്ങി.

23. And it chanced (again) that he went thorow the corn fields on the Sabbath day, and his disciples as they went on their way, began to pluck the ears of corn.

24. പരീശന്മാര് അവനോടുനോകൂ, ഇവര് ശബ്ബത്തില് വിഹിതമല്ലാത്തതു ചെയ്യുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

24. And the pharisees said unto him: Take heed(behold) why do they on the Sabbath day that which is unlawful?(not lawful?)

25. അവന് അവരോടുദാവീദ് തനിക്കും കൂടെയുള്ളവര്ക്കും മുട്ടുണ്ടായി വിശന്നപ്പോള് ചെയ്തതു എന്തു?

25. And he said to them: have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungered both he and they that were with him?

26. അവ അബ്യാഥാര്മഹാപുരോഹിതന്റെ കാലത്തു ദൈവാലയത്തില് ചെന്നു, പുരോഹിതന്മാര്ക്കല്ലാതെ ആര്ക്കും തിന്മാന് വിഹിതമല്ലാത്ത കാഴ്ചയപ്പം തിന്നു കൂടെയുള്ളവര്ക്കും കൊടുത്തു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് ഒരിക്കലും വായിച്ചിട്ടില്ലയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

26. How they(he) went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and ate(did eat) the hallowed loaves,(shewbreads) which is not lawful but for the priests only to eat: and gave also to them which were with him?

27. And he said to them: the Sabbath day was made for man,(man's sake) and not man for the Sabbath day.(not.. for the Sabbath's sake)

28. അങ്ങനെ മനുഷ്യപുത്രന് ശബ്ബത്തിന്നും കര്ത്താവു ആകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

28. Wherefore is the son of man(is) Lord even of(over) the Sabbath day.
