1. അനന്തരം അവര് എല്ലാവരും കൂട്ടമേ എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവനെ പീലാത്തൊസിന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുപോയി

1. Then all the many people got up and took Jesus to Pilate.

2. ഇവന് ഞങ്ങളുടെ ജാതിയെ മറിച്ചുകളകയും താന് ക്രിസ്തു എന്ന രാജാവാകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടു കൈസര്ക്കും കരം കൊടുക്കുന്നതു വിരോധിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നതായി ഞങ്ങള് കണ്ടു എന്നു കുറ്റം ചുമത്തിത്തുടങ്ങി.

2. They began to tell things against Him, saying, 'We have found this Man leading the people of our nation in a wrong way. He has been telling them not to pay taxes to Caesar. He has been saying He is Christ, a King.'

3. പീലാത്തൊസ് അവനോടുനീ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവൊ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുഞാന് ആകുന്നു എന്നു അവനോടു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

3. Pilate asked Jesus, 'Are You the King of the Jews?' He said, 'What you said is true.'

4. പീലാത്തൊസ് മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരോടും പുരുഷാരത്തോടുംഞാന് ഈ മനുഷ്യനില് കുറ്റം ഒന്നും കാണുന്നില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4. Then Pilate said to the religious leaders and to the people, 'I find nothing wrong in this Man.'

5. അതിന്നു അവര്അവന് ഗലീലയില് തുടങ്ങി യെഹൂദ്യയില് എങ്ങും ഇവിടത്തോളവും പഠിപ്പിച്ചു ജനത്തെ കലഹിപ്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു നിഷ്കര്ഷിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. They became more angry. They said, 'He makes trouble among the people. He has been teaching over all the country of Judea, starting in Galilee and now here.'

6. ഇതു കേട്ടിട്ടു ഈ മനുഷ്യന് ഗലീലക്കാരനോ എന്നു പീലാത്തൊസ് ചോദിച്ചു;

6. When Pilate heard the word, Galilee, he asked, 'Is the Man from Galilee?'

7. ഹെരോദാവിന്റെ അധികാരത്തില് ഉള്പ്പെട്ടവന് എന്നറിഞ്ഞിട്ടു, അന്നു യെരൂശലേമില് വന്നു പാര്ക്കുംന്ന ഹെരോദാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് അവനെ അയച്ചു.

7. As soon as Pilate knew Jesus belonged in the country where Herod was king, he sent Him to Herod. Herod was in Jerusalem at that time also.

8. ഹെരോദാവു യേശുവിനെ കണ്ടിട്ടു അത്യന്തം സന്തോഷിച്ചു; അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു കേട്ടിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവനെ കാണ്മാന് വളരെക്കാലമായി ഇച്ഛിച്ചു, അവന് വല്ല അടയാളവും ചെയ്യുന്നതു കാണാം എന്നു ആശിച്ചിരുന്നു.

8. Herod was very glad when he saw Jesus because he had wanted to see Him for a long time. He had heard many things about Him and had hoped to see Him do some powerful work.

9. ഏറിയോന്നു ചോദിച്ചിട്ടും അവന് അവനോടു ഉത്തരം ഒന്നും പറഞ്ഞില്ല.

9. Herod talked to Jesus and asked many things. But Jesus said nothing.

10. മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും ശാസ്ത്രിമാരും കഠിനമായി അവനെ കുറ്റം ചുമത്തിക്കൊണ്ടു നിന്നു.

10. The religious leaders and the teachers of the Law were standing there. They said many false things against Him.

11. ഹെരോദാവു തന്റെ പടയാളികളുമായി അവനെ പരിഹസിച്ചു നിസ്സാരനാക്കി ശുഭ്രവസ്ത്രം ധരിപ്പിച്ചു പീലാത്തൊസിന്റെ അടുക്കല് മടക്കി അയച്ചു.

11. Then Herod and his soldiers were very bad to Jesus and made fun of Him. They put a beautiful coat on Him and sent Him back to Pilate.

12. അന്നു ഹെരോദാവും പീലാത്തൊസും തമ്മില് സ്നേഹിതന്മാരായിത്തീര്ന്നു; മുമ്പെ അവര് തമ്മില് വൈരമായിരുന്നു.

12. That day Pilate and Herod became friends. Before that they had worked against each other.

13. പീലാത്തൊസ് മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരെയും പ്രമാണികളെയും ജനത്തെയും വിളിച്ചു കൂട്ടി.

13. Pilate called the religious leaders and the leaders of the people and the people together.

14. അവരോടുഈ മനുഷ്യന് ജനത്തെ മത്സരിപ്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു നിങ്ങള് അവനെ എന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടുവന്നുവല്ലോ; ഞാനോ നിങ്ങളുടെ മുമ്പാകെ വിസ്തരിച്ചിട്ടും നിങ്ങള് ചുമത്തിയ കുറ്റം ഒന്നും ഇവനില് കണ്ടില്ല;

14. He said to them, 'You brought this Man to me as one that leads the people in the wrong way. I have asked Him about these things in front of you. I do not find Him guilty of the things you say against Him.

15. ഹെരോദാവും കണ്ടില്ല; അവന് അവനെ നമ്മുടെ അടുക്കല് മടക്കി അയച്ചുവല്ലോ; ഇവന് മരണയോഗ്യമായതു ഒന്നും പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചിട്ടില്ല സ്പഷ്ടം;

15. Herod found nothing wrong with Him because he sent Him back to us. There is no reason to have Him put to death.

16. അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് അവനെ അടിപ്പിച്ചു വിട്ടയക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

16. I will punish Him and let Him go free.'

17. ഇവനെ നീക്കിക്കളക; ബറബ്ബാസിനെ വിട്ടു തരിക എന്നു എല്ലാവരുംകൂടെ നിലവിളിച്ചു,

17. *Every year at the time of the special supper, Pilate would let one person who was in prison go free.

18. (ഉത്സവന്തോറും ഒരുത്തനെ വിട്ടുകൊടുക്ക പതിവായിരുന്നു)

18. They all cried out together with a loud voice, 'Take this Man away! Let Barabbas go free.'

19. അവനോ നഗരത്തില് ഉണ്ടായ ഒരു കലഹവും കുലയും ഹേതുവായി തടവിലായവന് ആയിരുന്നു.

19. Barabbas had killed some people and had made trouble against the leaders of the country. He had been put in prison.

20. പീലാത്തൊസ് യേശുവിനെ വിടുവിപ്പാന് ഇച്ഛിച്ചിട്ടു പിന്നെയും അവരോടു വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.

20. Pilate wanted to let Jesus go free so he talked to them again.

21. അവരോഅവനെ ക്രൂശിക്ക, ക്രൂശിക്ക എന്നു എതിരെ നിലവിളിച്ചു.

21. But they cried out, 'Nail Him to a cross! Nail Him to a cross!'

22. അവന് മൂന്നാമതും അവരോടുഅവന് ചെയ്ത ദോഷം എന്തു? മരണയോഗ്യമായതു ഒന്നും അവനില് കണ്ടില്ല; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് അവനെ അടിപ്പിച്ചു വിട്ടയക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

22. Pilate said to them the third time, 'Why, what bad thing has He done? I have found no reason to put Him to death. I will punish Him and let Him go free.'

23. അവരോ അവനെ ക്രൂശിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഉറക്കെ മുട്ടിച്ചു ചോദിച്ചു; അവരുടെ നിലവിളി ഫലിച്ചു;

23. But they kept on crying out with loud voices saying that He must be nailed to a cross. Their loud voices got what they wanted.

24. അവരുടെ അപേക്ഷപോലെ ആകട്ടെ എന്നു പീലാത്തൊസ് വിധിച്ചു.

24. Then Pilate said that it should be done as they wanted.

25. കലഹവും കുലയും ഹേതുവായി തടവിലായവനെ അവരുടെ അപേക്ഷപോലെ വിട്ടുകൊടുക്കയും യേശുവിനെ അവരുടെ ഇഷ്ടത്തിന്നു ഏല്പിക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

25. Pilate let the man go free who had made trouble against the leaders of the country and who had killed people. He gave Jesus over to them to do with as they wanted.

26. അവനെ കൊണ്ടുപോകുമ്പോള് വയലില് നിന്നു വരുന്ന ശിമോന് എന്ന ഒരു കുറേനക്കാരനെ അവര് പിടിച്ചു ക്രൂശ് ചുമപ്പിച്ചു യേശുവിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ നടക്കുമാറാക്കി.

26. They led Jesus away. A man named Simon was coming in from the country of Cyrene and they made him carry the cross following behind Jesus.

27. ഒരു വലിയ ജനസമൂഹവും അവനെച്ചൊല്ലി വിലപിച്ചു മുറയിടുന്ന അനേകം സ്ത്രീകളും അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു.

27. Many people followed Jesus. There were women who cried and had sorrow for Him.

28. യേശു തിരിഞ്ഞു അവരെ നോക്കിയെരൂശലേംപുത്രിമാരേ, എന്നെച്ചൊല്ലി കരയേണ്ടാ, നിങ്ങളെയും നിങ്ങളുടെ മക്കളെയും ചൊല്ലി കരവിന് .

28. Jesus turned to them and said, 'Daughters of Jerusalem, do not cry for Me. Cry for yourselves and your children.

29. മച്ചികളും പ്രസവിക്കാത്ത ഉദരങ്ങളും കുടിപ്പിക്കാത്ത മുലകളും ഭാഗ്യമുള്ളവ എന്നു പറയുന്ന കാലം വരുന്നു.

29. Listen! The days are coming when they will say, 'Those who have never had children are happy. Those whose bodies have never given birth are happy. Those who have never fed babies are happy.'

30. അന്നു മലകളോടുഞങ്ങളുടെ മേല് വീഴുവിന് എന്നും കുന്നുകളോടുഞങ്ങളെ മൂടുവിന് എന്നും പറഞ്ഞു തുടങ്ങും.
ഹോശേയ 10:8

30. They will begin to say to the mountains, 'Fall on us.' They will say to the hills, 'Cover us.'

31. പച്ചമരത്തോടു ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്താല് ഉണങ്ങിയതിന്നു എന്തു ഭവിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

31. If they do these things to a green tree, what will they do when it is dry?'

32. ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാരായ വേറെ രണ്ടുപേരെയും അവനോടുകൂടെ കൊല്ലേണ്ടതിന്നു കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

32. Two other men were led away with Jesus to be put to death also. These men had done things making them guilty of death.

33. തലയോടിടം എന്ന സ്ഥലത്തു എത്തിയപ്പോള് അവര് അവിടെ അവനെയും ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാരെയും, ഒരുത്തനെ വലത്തും ഒരുത്തനെ ഇടത്തുമായി, ക്രൂശിച്ചു.

33. When they came to the place called Calvary, they nailed Jesus to a cross. The other two men were nailed to crosses also. One was on the right side of Jesus and the other was on His left side.

34. എന്നാല് യേശുപിതാവേ, ഇവര് ചെയ്യുന്നതു ഇന്നതു എന്നു അറിയായ്കകൊണ്ടു ഇവരോടു ക്ഷമിക്കേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അനന്തരം അവര് അവന്റെ വസ്ത്രം വിഭാഗിച്ചു ചീട്ടിട്ടു.

34. Then Jesus said, 'Father, forgive them. They do not know what they are doing.' And they divided His clothes by drawing names.

35. ജനം നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടു നിന്നു. ഇവന് മറുള്ളവരെ രക്ഷിച്ചുവല്ലോ; ദൈവം തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത ക്രിസ്തു എങ്കില് തന്നെത്താന് രക്ഷിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പ്രധാനികളും പരിഹസിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു.

35. The people stood around looking on. The leaders were there with them making fun of Jesus. They said, 'He saved others, let Him save Himself if He is the Christ, the Chosen One of God!'

36. The soldiers made fun of Him also. They put sour wine before Him.

37. They said, 'If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself.'

38. ഇവന് യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവു എന്നു ഒരു മേലെഴുത്തും അവന്റെ മീതെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

38. These words were written in the Greek and Latin and Hebrew languages above His head: 'THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.'

39. തൂക്കിയ ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാരില് ഒരുത്തന് നീ ക്രിസ്തു അല്ലയോ? നിന്നെത്തന്നേയും ഞങ്ങളെയും രക്ഷിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ ദുഷിച്ചു.

39. One of the men who was guilty of death who was on a cross beside Jesus spoke bad words to Him. He said, 'If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.'

40. മറ്റവനോ അവനെ ശാസിച്ചുസമശിക്ഷാവിധിയില് തന്നേ ആയിട്ടും നീ ദൈവത്തെ ഭയപ്പെടുന്നില്ലയോ?

40. But the other man on a cross spoke sharp words to the one who made fun of Jesus. He said, 'Are you not afraid of God? You are also guilty and will be punished.

41. നാമോ ന്യായമായിട്ടു ശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കുന്നു; നാം പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചതിന്നു യോഗ്യമായതല്ലോ കിട്ടുന്നതു; ഇവനോ അരുതാത്തതു ഒന്നും ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

41. We are suffering and we should, because of the wrong we have done. But this Man has done nothing wrong.'

42. പിന്നെ അവന് യേശുവേ, നീ രാജത്വം പ്രാപിച്ചു വരുമ്പോള് എന്നെ ഔര്ത്തുകൊള്ളേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

42. And he said to Jesus, 'Lord, remember me when You come into Your holy nation.'

43. യേശു അവനോടുഇന്നു നീ എന്നോടുകൂടെ പറുദീസയില് ഇരിക്കും എന്നു ഞാന് സത്യമായി നിന്നോടു പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

43. Jesus said to him, 'For sure, I tell you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.'

44. ഏകദേശം ആറാം മണി നേരമായപ്പോള് സൂര്യന് ഇരുണ്ടുപോയിട്ടു ഒമ്പതാം മണിവരെ ദേശത്തു ഒക്കെയും അന്ധകാരം ഉണ്ടായി.

44. It was dark over all the earth from noon until three o'clock.

45. ദൈവമന്ദിരത്തിലെ തിരശ്ശീല നടുവെ ചീന്തിപ്പോയി.

45. The sun did not shine. In the house of God the curtain was torn in two pieces.

46. Then Jesus cried out with a loud voice, 'Father, into Your hands I give My spirit.' When He said this, He died.

47. When the soldier saw what had happened, he thanked God. He said, 'For sure, He was a good man.'

48. കാണ്മാന് കൂടി വന്ന പുരുഷാരം ഒക്കെയും സംഭവിച്ചതു കണ്ടിട്ടു മാറത്തടിച്ചു കൊണ്ടു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

48. All the many people who came together to see the things that were done, went away beating themselves on their chests.

49. അവന്റെ പരിചയക്കാര് എല്ലാവരും ഗലീലയില് നിന്നു അവനെ അനുഗമിച്ചസ്ത്രീകളും ഇതു നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടു ദൂരത്തു നിന്നു.

49. All His friends and the women who had come with Him from Galilee stood a long way off watching these things.

50. There was a man named Joseph who belonged to the court. He was a good man and one who did right.

51. അവന് അവരുടെ ആലോചനെക്കും പ്രവൃത്തിക്കും അനുകൂലമല്ലായിരുന്നു —

51. This man did not agree with what the court did. He was from Arimathea, a city of the Jews. He was looking for the holy nation of God to come.

52. പീലാത്തൊസിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു യേശുവിന്റെ ശരീരം ചോദിച്ചു,

52. Joseph went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.

53. അതു ഇറക്കി ഒരു ശീലയില് പൊതിഞ്ഞു പാറയില് വെട്ടിയിരുന്നതും ആരെയും ഒരിക്കലും വെച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്തതുമായ കല്ലറയില് വെച്ചു. അന്നു ഒരുക്ക നാള് ആയിരുന്നു, ശബ്ബത്തും ആരംഭിച്ചു.

53. Then he took it down and put it in linen cloth. It was laid in a grave which had been cut out in the side of a rock. This grave had never been used.

54. ഗലീലയില് നിന്നു അവനോടുകൂടെ പോന്ന സ്ത്രീകളും പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു കല്ലറയും അവന്റെ ശരീരം വെച്ച വിധവും കണ്ടിട്ടു

54. It was time to get ready for the Day of Rest which was about to begin.

55. മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി സുഗന്ധവര്ഗ്ഗവും പരിമളതൈലവും ഒരുക്കി; കല്പന അനുസരിച്ചു ശബ്ബത്തില് സ്വസ്ഥമായിരന്നു.

55. The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed behind. They saw the grave and how His body was laid.
