1. കൈസര്യയില് ഇത്താലിക എന്ന പട്ടാളത്തില് കൊന്നേല്യൊസ് എന്നു പേരുള്ളോരു ശതാധിപന് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

1. But a certain man in Caesarea, -- by name Cornelius, a centurion of the band called Italic,

2. അവന് ഭക്തനും തന്റെ സകല ഗൃഹത്തോടും കൂടെ ദൈവത്തെ ഭയപ്പെടുന്നവനുമായി ജനത്തിന്നു വളരെ ധര്മ്മം കൊടുത്തും എപ്പോഴും ദൈവത്തോടു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചും പോന്നു.

2. pious, and fearing God with all his house, [both] giving much alms to the people, and supplicating God continually,

3. അവന് പകല് ഏകദേശം ഒമ്പതാം മണിനേരത്തു ഒരു ദര്ശനത്തില് ഒരു ദൈവദൂതന് തന്റെ അടുക്കല് അകത്തു വരുന്നതു സ്പഷ്ടമായി കണ്ടു കൊര്ന്നേല്യെസേ, എന്നു തന്നോടു പറയുന്നതും കേട്ടു.

3. -- saw plainly in a vision, about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of God coming unto him, and saying to him, Cornelius.

4. അവന് അവനെ ഉറ്റു നോക്കി ഭയപരവശനായിഎന്താകുന്നു കര്ത്താവേ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അവന് അവനോടുനിന്റെ പ്രാര്ത്ഥനയും ധര്മ്മവും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പില് എത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

4. But he, having fixed his eyes upon him, and become full of fear, said, What is it, Lord? And he said to him, Thy prayers and thine alms have gone up for a memorial before God.

5. ഇപ്പോള് യോപ്പയിലേക്കു ആളയച്ചു, പത്രൊസ് എന്നു മറുപേരുള്ള ശിമോനെ വരുത്തുക.

5. And now send men to Joppa and fetch Simon, who is surnamed Peter.

6. അവന് തോല്ക്കൊല്ലനായ ശിമോന് എന്നൊരുവനോടു കൂടെ പാര്ക്കുംന്നു. അവന്റെ വീടു കടല്പുറത്തു ആകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. He lodges with a certain Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the sea.

7. അവനോടു സംസാരിച്ച ദൂതന് പോയ ശേഷം അവന് തന്റെ വേലക്കാരില് രണ്ടുപേരെയും തന്റെ അടുക്കല് അകമ്പടി നിലക്കുന്നവരില് ദൈവഭക്തനായോരു പടയാളിയേയും

7. And when the angel who was speaking to him had departed, having called two of his household and a pious soldier of those who were constantly with him,

8. വിളിച്ചു സകലവും വിവരിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു യോപ്പയിലേക്കു അയച്ചു

8. and related all things to them, he sent them to Joppa.

9. പിറ്റെന്നാള് അവര് യാത്രചെയ്തു പട്ടണത്തോടു സമീപിക്കുമ്പോള് പത്രൊസ് ആറാം മണിനേരത്തു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിപ്പാന് വെണ്മാടത്തില് കയറി.

9. And on the morrow, as these were journeying and drawing near to the city, Peter went up on the house to pray, about the sixth hour.

10. അവന് വളരെ വിശന്നിട്ടു ഭക്ഷിപ്പാന് ആഗ്രഹിച്ചു; അവര് ഒരുക്കുമ്പോഴേക്കു അവന്നു ഒരു വിവശത വന്നു.

10. And he became hungry and desired to eat. But as they were making ready an ecstasy came upon him:

11. ആകാശം തുറന്നിരിക്കുന്നതും വലിയൊരു തൂപ്പട്ടിപോലെ നാലു കോണും കെട്ടീട്ടു ഭൂമിയിലേക്കു ഇറക്കിവിട്ടോരു പാത്രം വരുന്നതും അവന് കണ്ടു.

11. and he beholds the heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending, as a great sheet, [bound] by [the] four corners [and] let down to the earth;

12. അതില് ഭൂമിയിലെ സകലവിധ നാല്ക്കാലിയും ഇഴജാതിയും ആകാശത്തിലെ പറവയും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

12. in which were all the quadrupeds and creeping things of the earth, and the fowls of the heaven.

13. പത്രൊസേ, എഴുന്നേറ്റു അറുത്തു തിന്നുക എന്നു ഒരു ശബ്ദം ഉണ്ടായി.

13. And there was a voice to him, Rise, Peter, slay and eat.

14. അതിന്നു പത്രൊസ്ഒരിക്കലും പാടില്ല, കര്ത്താവേ, മലിനമോ അശുദ്ധമോ ആയതൊന്നും ഞാന് ഒരുനാളും തിന്നിട്ടില്ലല്ലോ.

14. And Peter said, In no wise, Lord; for I have never eaten anything common or unclean.

15. ആ ശബ്ദം രണ്ടാംപ്രാവശ്യം അവനോടുദൈവം ശുദ്ധീകരിച്ചതു നീ മലിനമെന്നു വിചാരിക്കരുതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. And [there was] a voice again the second time to him, What God has cleansed, do not *thou* make common.

16. ഇങ്ങനെ മൂന്നു പ്രാവശ്യം ഉണ്ടായി; ഉടനെ പാത്രം തിരികെ ആകാശത്തിലേക്കു വലിച്ചെടുത്തു.

16. And this took place thrice, and the vessel was straightway taken up into heaven.

17. ഈ കണ്ട ദര്ശനം എന്തായിരിക്കും എന്നു പത്രൊസ് ഉള്ളില് ചഞ്ചലിച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോള് കൊര്ന്നേല്യൊസ് അയച്ച പുരുഷന്മാര് ശിമോന്റെ വീടു ചോദിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു പടിവാതില്ക്കല് നിന്നു

17. And as Peter doubted in himself what the vision which he had seen might mean, behold also the men who were sent by Cornelius, having sought out the house of Simon, stood at the gate,

18. പത്രൊസ് എന്നു മറു പേരുള്ള ശിമോന് ഇവിടെ പാര്ക്കുംന്നുണ്ടോഎന്നു വിളിച്ചു ചോദിച്ചു.

18. and having called [some one], they inquired if Simon who was surnamed Peter was lodged there.

19. പത്രൊസ് ദര്ശനത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ചിന്തിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോള് ആത്മാവു അവനോടുമൂന്നു പുരുഷന്മാര് നിന്നെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു;

19. But as Peter continued pondering over the vision, the Spirit said to him, Behold, three men seek thee;

20. നീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെല്ലുക; ഞാന് അവരെ അയച്ചതാകകൊണ്ടു ഒന്നും സംശയിക്കാതെ അവരോടു കൂടെ പോക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

20. but rise up, go down, and go with them, nothing doubting, because *I* have sent them.

21. പത്രൊസ് ആ പുരുഷന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല് ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെന്നുനിങ്ങള് അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നവന് ഞാന് തന്നെ; നിങ്ങള് വന്ന സംഗതി എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

21. And Peter going down to the men said, Behold, *I* am he whom ye seek: what is the cause for which ye come?

22. അതിന്നു അവര്നീതിമാനും ദൈവഭക്തനും യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ സകലജാതിയാലും നല്ല സാക്ഷ്യംകൊണ്ടവനും ആയ കൊര്ന്നേല്യൊസ് എന്ന ശതാധിപന്നു നിന്നെ വീട്ടില് വരുത്തി നിന്റെ പ്രസംഗം കേള്ക്കേണം എന്നു ഒരു വിശുദ്ധദൂതനാല് അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

22. And they said, Cornelius, a centurion, a righteous man, and fearing God, and borne witness to by the whole nation of the Jews, has been divinely instructed by a holy angel to send for thee to his house, and hear words from thee.

23. അവന് അവരെ അകത്തു വിളിച്ചു പാര്പ്പിച്ചു; പിറ്റെന്നാള് എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവരോടുകൂടെ പുറപ്പെട്ടു; യോപ്പയിലെ സഹോദരന്മാര് ചിലരും അവനോടുകൂടെ പോയി.

23. Having therefore invited them in, he lodged them. And on the morrow, rising up he went away with them, and certain of the brethren from Joppa went with him.

24. പിറ്റെന്നാള് കൈസര്യയില് എത്തി; അവിടെ കൊര്ന്നേല്യൊസ് ചാര്ച്ചക്കാരെയും അടുത്ത സ്നേഹിതന്മാരെയും കൂട്ടിവരുത്തി, അവര്ക്കായി കാത്തിരുന്നു.

24. And on the morrow they came to Caesarea. But Cornelius was looking for them, having called together his kinsmen and [his] intimate friends.

25. പത്രൊസ് അകത്തു കയറിയപ്പോള് കൊര്ന്നേല്യൊസ് എതിരേറ്റു അവന്റെ കാല്ക്കല് വീണു നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

25. And when Peter was now coming in, Cornelius met him, and falling down did [him] homage.

26. പത്രൊസോഎഴുന്നേല്ക്ക, ഞാനും ഒരു മനുഷ്യനാത്രെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ എഴുന്നേല്പിച്ചു.

26. But Peter made him rise, saying, Rise up: *I* myself also am a man.

27. അവനോടു സംഭാഷിച്ചും കൊണ്ടു അകത്തു ചെന്നു, അനേകര് വന്നു കൂടിയിരിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു അവനോടു

27. And he went in, talking with him, and found many gathered together.

28. അന്യജാതിക്കാരന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെല്ലുന്നതും അവനുമയീ പെരുമാറ്റം ചെയ്യുന്നതും യെഹൂദന്നു നിഷിദ്ധം എന്നു നിങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ. എങ്കിലും ഒരു മനുഷ്യനെയും മലിനനോ അശുദ്ധനോ എന്നു പറയരുതെന്നു ദൈവം എനിക്കു കാണിച്ചു തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

28. And he said to them, *Ye* know how it is unlawful for a Jew to be joined or come to one of a strange race, and to *me* God has shewn to call no man common or unclean.

29. അതുകൊണ്ടാകുന്നു നിങ്ങള് ആളയച്ചപ്പോള് ഞാന് എതിര് പറയാതെ വന്നതു; എന്നാല് എന്നെ വിളിപ്പിച്ച സംഗതി എന്തു എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞാല് കൊള്ളാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

29. Wherefore also, having been sent for, I came without saying anything against it. I inquire therefore for what reason ye have sent for me.

30. അതിന്നു കൊര്ന്നോല്യൊസ്നാലാകുന്നാള് ഈ നേരത്തു ഞാന് വീട്ടില് ഒമ്പതാം മണിനേരത്തെ പ്രാര്ത്ഥന കഴിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോള് ശുഭ്രവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചോരു പുരുഷന് എന്റെ മുമ്പില് നിന്നു

30. And Cornelius said, Four days ago I had been [fasting] unto this hour, and the ninth [I was] praying in my house, and lo, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

31. കൊര്ന്നോല്യസേ, ദൈവം നിന്റെ പ്രാര്ത്ഥന കേട്ടു നിന്റെ ധര്മ്മം ഔര്ത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

31. and said, Cornelius, thy prayer has been heard, and thy alms have come in remembrance before God.

32. യോപ്പയിലേക്കു ആളയച്ചു പത്രൊസ് എന്നു മറുപേരുള്ള ശിമോനെ വിളിപ്പിക്ക; അവന് കടല്പുറത്തു തോല്ക്കൊല്ലനായ ശീമോന്റെ വീട്ടില് പാര്ക്കുംന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

32. Send therefore to Joppa and fetch Simon, who is surnamed Peter; he lodges in the house of Simon, a tanner, by the sea [who when he is come will speak to thee].

33. ക്ഷണത്തില് ഞാന് നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ആളയച്ചു; നീ വന്നതു ഉപകാരം. കര്ത്താവു നിന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതൊക്കെയും കേള്പ്പാന് ഞങ്ങള് എല്ലാവരും ഇവിടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ കൂടിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

33. Immediately therefore I sent to thee, and *thou* hast well done in coming. Now therefore *we* are all present before God to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.

34. അപ്പോള് പത്രൊസ് വായി തുറന്നു പറഞ്ഞു തുടങ്ങിയതുദൈവത്തിന്നു മുഖപക്ഷമില്ല എന്നും

34. And Peter opening his mouth said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons,

35. ഏതു ജാതിയിലും അവനെ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു നീതി പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നവനെ അവന് അംഗീകരിക്കുന്നു എന്നും ഞാന് ഇപ്പോള് യാഥാര്ത്ഥമായി ഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു.

36. The word which he sent to the sons of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ, (*he* is Lord of all things,)

37. യോഹന്നാന് പ്രസംഗിച്ച സ്നാനത്തിന്റെശേഷം ഗലീലയില് തുടങ്ങി യെഹൂദ്യയില് ഒക്കെയും ഉണ്ടായ വര്ത്തമാനം,

37. *ye* know; the testimony which has spread through the whole of Judaea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism which John preached --

38. നസറായനായ യേശുവിനെ ദൈവം പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിനാലും ശക്തിയാലും അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്തതും ദൈവം അവനോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവന് നന്മചെയ്തും പിശാചു ബാധിച്ചവരെ ഒക്കെയും സൌഖ്യമാക്കിയുംകൊണ്ടു സഞ്ചരിച്ചതുമായ വിവരം തന്നേ നിങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ.

38. Jesus who [was] of Nazareth: how God anointed him with [the] Holy Spirit and with power; who went through [all quarters] doing good, and healing all that were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.

41. not of all the people, but of witnesses who were chosen before of God, *us* who have eaten and drunk with him after he arose from among [the] dead.

42. And he commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that *he* it is who was determinately appointed of God [to be] judge of living and dead.

43. To him all the prophets bear witness that every one that believes on him will receive through his name remission of sins.

44. While Peter was yet speaking these words the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who were hearing the word.

45. അവര് അന്യഭാഷകളില് സംസാരിക്കുന്നതും ദൈവത്തെ മഹത്വീകരിക്കുന്നതും കേള്ക്കയാല്

45. And the faithful of the circumcision were astonished, as many as came with Peter, that upon the nations also the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out:

46. പത്രൊസിനോടുകൂടെ വന്ന പരിച്ഛേദനക്കാരായ വിശ്വാസികള് പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു എന്ന ദാനം ജാതികളുടെ മേലും പകര്ന്നതു കണ്ടു വിസ്മയിച്ചു.

46. for they heard them speaking with tongues and magnifying God. Then Peter answered,

47. നമ്മെപ്പോലെ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു ലഭിച്ച ഇവരെ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിച്ചു കൂടാതവണ്ണം വെള്ളം വിലക്കുവാന് ആര്ക്കും കഴിയും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

47. Can any one forbid water that these should not be baptised, who have received the Holy Spirit as we also [did]?

48. പത്രൊസ് അവരെ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ നാമത്തില് സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിപ്പാന് കല്പിച്ചു. അവന് ചില ദിവസം അവിടെ താമസിക്കേണം എന്നു അവര് അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

48. And he commanded them to be baptised in the name of the Lord. Then they begged him to stay some days.
