1. കൈസര്യയില് ഇത്താലിക എന്ന പട്ടാളത്തില് കൊന്നേല്യൊസ് എന്നു പേരുള്ളോരു ശതാധിപന് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

1. And there was a certain man in Caesarea, by name Cornelius, a centurion from a band called Italian,

2. അവന് ഭക്തനും തന്റെ സകല ഗൃഹത്തോടും കൂടെ ദൈവത്തെ ഭയപ്പെടുന്നവനുമായി ജനത്തിന്നു വളരെ ധര്മ്മം കൊടുത്തും എപ്പോഴും ദൈവത്തോടു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചും പോന്നു.

2. pious, and fearing God with all his house, doing also many kind acts to the people, and beseeching God always,

3. അവന് പകല് ഏകദേശം ഒമ്പതാം മണിനേരത്തു ഒരു ദര്ശനത്തില് ഒരു ദൈവദൂതന് തന്റെ അടുക്കല് അകത്തു വരുന്നതു സ്പഷ്ടമായി കണ്ടു കൊര്ന്നേല്യെസേ, എന്നു തന്നോടു പറയുന്നതും കേട്ടു.

3. he saw in a vision manifestly, as it were the ninth hour of the day, a messenger of God coming in unto him, and saying to him, 'Cornelius;'

4. അവന് അവനെ ഉറ്റു നോക്കി ഭയപരവശനായിഎന്താകുന്നു കര്ത്താവേ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അവന് അവനോടുനിന്റെ പ്രാര്ത്ഥനയും ധര്മ്മവും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പില് എത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

4. and he having looked earnestly on him, and becoming afraid, said, 'What is it, Lord?' And he said to him, 'Thy prayers and thy kind acts came up for a memorial before God,

5. ഇപ്പോള് യോപ്പയിലേക്കു ആളയച്ചു, പത്രൊസ് എന്നു മറുപേരുള്ള ശിമോനെ വരുത്തുക.

5. and now send men to Joppa, and send for a certain one Simon, who is surnamed Peter,

6. അവന് തോല്ക്കൊല്ലനായ ശിമോന് എന്നൊരുവനോടു കൂടെ പാര്ക്കുംന്നു. അവന്റെ വീടു കടല്പുറത്തു ആകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

6. this one doth lodge with a certain Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea; this one shall speak to thee what it behoveth thee to do.'

7. അവനോടു സംസാരിച്ച ദൂതന് പോയ ശേഷം അവന് തന്റെ വേലക്കാരില് രണ്ടുപേരെയും തന്റെ അടുക്കല് അകമ്പടി നിലക്കുന്നവരില് ദൈവഭക്തനായോരു പടയാളിയേയും

7. And when the messenger who is speaking to Cornelius went away, having called two of his domestics, and a pious soldier of those waiting on him continually,

8. വിളിച്ചു സകലവും വിവരിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു യോപ്പയിലേക്കു അയച്ചു

8. and having declared to them all things, he sent them to Joppa.

9. പിറ്റെന്നാള് അവര് യാത്രചെയ്തു പട്ടണത്തോടു സമീപിക്കുമ്പോള് പത്രൊസ് ആറാം മണിനേരത്തു പ്രാര്ത്ഥിപ്പാന് വെണ്മാടത്തില് കയറി.

9. And on the morrow, as these are proceeding on the way, and are drawing nigh to the city, Peter went up upon the house-top to pray, about the sixth hour,

10. അവന് വളരെ വിശന്നിട്ടു ഭക്ഷിപ്പാന് ആഗ്രഹിച്ചു; അവര് ഒരുക്കുമ്പോഴേക്കു അവന്നു ഒരു വിവശത വന്നു.

10. and he became very hungry, and wished to eat; and they making ready, there fell upon him a trance,

11. ആകാശം തുറന്നിരിക്കുന്നതും വലിയൊരു തൂപ്പട്ടിപോലെ നാലു കോണും കെട്ടീട്ടു ഭൂമിയിലേക്കു ഇറക്കിവിട്ടോരു പാത്രം വരുന്നതും അവന് കണ്ടു.

11. and he doth behold the heaven opened, and descending unto him a certain vessel, as a great sheet, bound at the four corners, and let down upon the earth,

12. അതില് ഭൂമിയിലെ സകലവിധ നാല്ക്കാലിയും ഇഴജാതിയും ആകാശത്തിലെ പറവയും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

12. in which were all the four-footed beasts of the earth, and the wild beasts, and the creeping things, and the fowls of the heaven,

13. പത്രൊസേ, എഴുന്നേറ്റു അറുത്തു തിന്നുക എന്നു ഒരു ശബ്ദം ഉണ്ടായി.

13. and there came a voice unto him: 'Having risen, Peter, slay and eat.'

14. അതിന്നു പത്രൊസ്ഒരിക്കലും പാടില്ല, കര്ത്താവേ, മലിനമോ അശുദ്ധമോ ആയതൊന്നും ഞാന് ഒരുനാളും തിന്നിട്ടില്ലല്ലോ.

14. And Peter said, 'Not so, Lord; because at no time did I eat anything common or unclean;'

15. ആ ശബ്ദം രണ്ടാംപ്രാവശ്യം അവനോടുദൈവം ശുദ്ധീകരിച്ചതു നീ മലിനമെന്നു വിചാരിക്കരുതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

15. and [there is] a voice again a second time unto him: 'What God did cleanse, thou, declare not thou common;'

16. ഇങ്ങനെ മൂന്നു പ്രാവശ്യം ഉണ്ടായി; ഉടനെ പാത്രം തിരികെ ആകാശത്തിലേക്കു വലിച്ചെടുത്തു.

16. and this was done thrice, and again was the vessel received up to the heaven.

17. ഈ കണ്ട ദര്ശനം എന്തായിരിക്കും എന്നു പത്രൊസ് ഉള്ളില് ചഞ്ചലിച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോള് കൊര്ന്നേല്യൊസ് അയച്ച പുരുഷന്മാര് ശിമോന്റെ വീടു ചോദിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു പടിവാതില്ക്കല് നിന്നു

17. And as Peter was perplexed in himself what the vision that he saw might be, then, lo, the men who have been sent from Cornelius, having made inquiry for the house of Simon, stood at the gate,

18. പത്രൊസ് എന്നു മറു പേരുള്ള ശിമോന് ഇവിടെ പാര്ക്കുംന്നുണ്ടോഎന്നു വിളിച്ചു ചോദിച്ചു.

18. and having called, they were asking if Simon, who is surnamed Peter, doth lodge here?

19. പത്രൊസ് ദര്ശനത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ചിന്തിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോള് ആത്മാവു അവനോടുമൂന്നു പുരുഷന്മാര് നിന്നെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു;

19. And Peter thinking about the vision, the Spirit said to him, 'Lo, three men do seek thee;

20. നീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെല്ലുക; ഞാന് അവരെ അയച്ചതാകകൊണ്ടു ഒന്നും സംശയിക്കാതെ അവരോടു കൂടെ പോക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

20. but having risen, go down and go on with them, nothing doubting, because I have sent them;'

21. പത്രൊസ് ആ പുരുഷന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല് ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെന്നുനിങ്ങള് അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നവന് ഞാന് തന്നെ; നിങ്ങള് വന്ന സംഗതി എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

21. and Peter having come down unto the men who have been sent from Cornelius unto him, said, 'Lo, I am he whom ye seek, what [is] the cause for which ye are present?'

22. അതിന്നു അവര്നീതിമാനും ദൈവഭക്തനും യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ സകലജാതിയാലും നല്ല സാക്ഷ്യംകൊണ്ടവനും ആയ കൊര്ന്നേല്യൊസ് എന്ന ശതാധിപന്നു നിന്നെ വീട്ടില് വരുത്തി നിന്റെ പ്രസംഗം കേള്ക്കേണം എന്നു ഒരു വിശുദ്ധദൂതനാല് അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

22. And they said, 'Cornelius, a centurion, a man righteous and fearing God, well testified to, also, by all the nation of the Jews, was divinely warned by a holy messenger to send for thee, to his house, and to hear sayings from thee.'

23. അവന് അവരെ അകത്തു വിളിച്ചു പാര്പ്പിച്ചു; പിറ്റെന്നാള് എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവരോടുകൂടെ പുറപ്പെട്ടു; യോപ്പയിലെ സഹോദരന്മാര് ചിലരും അവനോടുകൂടെ പോയി.

23. Having called them in, therefore, he lodged them, and on the morrow Peter went forth with them, and certain of the brethren from Joppa went with him,

24. പിറ്റെന്നാള് കൈസര്യയില് എത്തി; അവിടെ കൊര്ന്നേല്യൊസ് ചാര്ച്ചക്കാരെയും അടുത്ത സ്നേഹിതന്മാരെയും കൂട്ടിവരുത്തി, അവര്ക്കായി കാത്തിരുന്നു.

24. and on the morrow they did enter into Caesarea; and Cornelius was waiting for them, having called together his kindred and near friends,

25. പത്രൊസ് അകത്തു കയറിയപ്പോള് കൊര്ന്നേല്യൊസ് എതിരേറ്റു അവന്റെ കാല്ക്കല് വീണു നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

25. and as it came that Peter entered in, Cornelius having met him, having fallen at [his] feet, did bow before [him];

26. പത്രൊസോഎഴുന്നേല്ക്ക, ഞാനും ഒരു മനുഷ്യനാത്രെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ എഴുന്നേല്പിച്ചു.

26. and Peter raised him, saying, 'Stand up; I also myself am a man;'

27. അവനോടു സംഭാഷിച്ചും കൊണ്ടു അകത്തു ചെന്നു, അനേകര് വന്നു കൂടിയിരിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു അവനോടു

27. and talking with him he went in, and doth find many having come together.

28. അന്യജാതിക്കാരന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെല്ലുന്നതും അവനുമയീ പെരുമാറ്റം ചെയ്യുന്നതും യെഹൂദന്നു നിഷിദ്ധം എന്നു നിങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ. എങ്കിലും ഒരു മനുഷ്യനെയും മലിനനോ അശുദ്ധനോ എന്നു പറയരുതെന്നു ദൈവം എനിക്കു കാണിച്ചു തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

28. And he said unto them, 'Ye know how it is unlawful for a man, a Jew, to keep company with, or to come unto, one of another race, but to me God did shew to call no man common or unclean;

29. അതുകൊണ്ടാകുന്നു നിങ്ങള് ആളയച്ചപ്പോള് ഞാന് എതിര് പറയാതെ വന്നതു; എന്നാല് എന്നെ വിളിപ്പിച്ച സംഗതി എന്തു എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞാല് കൊള്ളാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

29. therefore also without gainsaying I came, having been sent for; I ask, therefore, for what matter ye did send for me?'

30. അതിന്നു കൊര്ന്നോല്യൊസ്നാലാകുന്നാള് ഈ നേരത്തു ഞാന് വീട്ടില് ഒമ്പതാം മണിനേരത്തെ പ്രാര്ത്ഥന കഴിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോള് ശുഭ്രവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചോരു പുരുഷന് എന്റെ മുമ്പില് നിന്നു

30. And Cornelius said, 'Four days ago till this hour, I was fasting, and [at] the ninth hour praying in my house, and, lo, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

31. കൊര്ന്നോല്യസേ, ദൈവം നിന്റെ പ്രാര്ത്ഥന കേട്ടു നിന്റെ ധര്മ്മം ഔര്ത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

31. and he said, Cornelius, thy prayer was heard, and thy kind acts were remembered before God;

32. യോപ്പയിലേക്കു ആളയച്ചു പത്രൊസ് എന്നു മറുപേരുള്ള ശിമോനെ വിളിപ്പിക്ക; അവന് കടല്പുറത്തു തോല്ക്കൊല്ലനായ ശീമോന്റെ വീട്ടില് പാര്ക്കുംന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

32. send, therefore, to Joppa, and call for Simon, who is surnamed Peter; this one doth lodge in the house of Simon a tanner, by the sea, who having come, shall speak to thee;

33. ക്ഷണത്തില് ഞാന് നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ആളയച്ചു; നീ വന്നതു ഉപകാരം. കര്ത്താവു നിന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതൊക്കെയും കേള്പ്പാന് ഞങ്ങള് എല്ലാവരും ഇവിടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ കൂടിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

33. at once, therefore, I sent to thee; thou also didst do well, having come; now, therefore, are we all before God present to hear all things that have been commanded thee by God.'

34. And Peter having opened his mouth, said, 'Of a truth, I perceive that God is no respecter of persons,

35. ഏതു ജാതിയിലും അവനെ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു നീതി പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നവനെ അവന് അംഗീകരിക്കുന്നു എന്നും ഞാന് ഇപ്പോള് യാഥാര്ത്ഥമായി ഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു.

44. While Peter is yet speaking these sayings, the Holy spirit fell upon all those hearing the word,

45. അവര് അന്യഭാഷകളില് സംസാരിക്കുന്നതും ദൈവത്തെ മഹത്വീകരിക്കുന്നതും കേള്ക്കയാല്

45. and those of the circumcision believing were astonished -- as many as came with Peter -- because also upon the nations the gift of the Holy Spirit hath been poured out,

46. പത്രൊസിനോടുകൂടെ വന്ന പരിച്ഛേദനക്കാരായ വിശ്വാസികള് പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു എന്ന ദാനം ജാതികളുടെ മേലും പകര്ന്നതു കണ്ടു വിസ്മയിച്ചു.

46. for they were hearing them speaking with tongues and magnifying God.

47. നമ്മെപ്പോലെ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു ലഭിച്ച ഇവരെ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിച്ചു കൂടാതവണ്ണം വെള്ളം വിലക്കുവാന് ആര്ക്കും കഴിയും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

47. Then answered Peter, 'The water is any one able to forbid, that these may not be baptized, who the Holy Spirit did receive -- even as also we?'

48. പത്രൊസ് അവരെ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ നാമത്തില് സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിപ്പാന് കല്പിച്ചു. അവന് ചില ദിവസം അവിടെ താമസിക്കേണം എന്നു അവര് അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

48. he commanded them also to be baptized in the name of the Lord; then they besought him to remain certain days.
