1. യെഹൂദ്യയില്നിന്നു ചിലര് വന്നുനിങ്ങള് മോശെ കല്പിച്ച ആചാരം അനുസരിച്ചു പരിച്ഛേദന ഏല്ക്കാഞ്ഞാല് രക്ഷ പ്രാപിപ്പാന് കഴികയില്ല എന്നു സഹോദരന്മാരെ ഉപദേശിച്ചു.
ലേവ്യപുസ്തകം 12:3

1. And certain men who came down from Judea taught the brethren and said, 'Unless ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.'

2. പൌലൊസിന്നും ബര്ന്നബാസിന്നും അവരോടു അല്പമല്ലാത്ത വാദവും തര്ക്കവും ഉണ്ടായിട്ടു പൌലൊസും ബര്ന്നബാസും അവരില് മറ്റു ചിലരും ഈ തര്ക്കസംഗതിയെപ്പറ്റി യെരൂശലേമില് അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരുടെയും മൂപ്പന്മാരുടെയും അടുക്കല് പോകേണം എന്നു നിശ്ചയിച്ചു.

2. When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas and certain others of them should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.

3. സഭ അവരെ യാത്ര അയച്ചിട്ടു അവര് ഫൊയ്നീക്ക്യയിലും ശമര്യയിലും കൂടി കടന്നു ജാതികളുടെ മാനസാന്തരവിവരം അറിയിച്ചു സഹോദരന്മാര്ക്കും മഹാസന്തോഷം വരുത്തി.

3. And being sent on their way by the church, they passed through Phoenicia and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles; and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.

4. അവര് യെരൂശലേമില് എത്തിയാറെ സഭയും അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരും മൂപ്പന്മാരും അവരെ കൈക്കൊണ്ടു; ദൈവം തങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നു ചെയ്തതൊക്കയും അവര് അറിയിച്ചു.

4. And when they had come to Jerusalem, they were received by the church and by the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.

5. എന്നാല് പരീശപക്ഷത്തില്നിന്നു വിശ്വസിച്ചവര് ചിലര് എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവരെ പരിച്ഛേദന കഴിപ്പിക്കയും മോശെയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണം ആചരിപ്പാന് കല്പിക്കയും വേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

5. But there rose up certain of the sect of the m,arisees who believed, saying that it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the Law of Moses.

6. ഈ സംഗതിയെക്കുറിച്ചു വിചാരിപ്പാന് അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരും മൂപ്പന്മാരും വന്നു കൂടി. വളരെ തര്ക്കം ഉണ്ടയശേഷം പത്രൊസ് എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതു

6. And the apostles and the elders came together to consider this matter.

7. സഹോദരന്മാരേ, കുറെ നാള് മുമ്പെ ദൈവം നിങ്ങളില് വെച്ചു ഞാന് മുഖാന്തരം ജാതികള് സുവിശേഷവചനം കേട്ടു വിശ്വസിക്കേണം എന്നു നിശ്ചയിച്ചതു നിങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നു വല്ലോ.

7. And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up and said unto them, 'Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the Word of the Gospel and believe.

8. ഹൃദയങ്ങളെ അറിയുന്ന ദൈവം നമുക്കു തന്നതുപോലെ അവര്ക്കും പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിനെ കൊടുത്തുകൊണ്ടു സാക്ഷിനിന്നു വിശ്വാസത്താല്

8. And God, who knoweth the hearts, bore them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost even as He did unto us,

9. അവരുടെ ഹൃദയങ്ങളെ ശുദ്ധീകരിച്ചതിനാല് നമുക്കും അവര്ക്കും തമ്മില് ഒരു വ്യത്യാസവും വെച്ചിട്ടില്ല.

9. and put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

10. ആകയാല് നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാര്ക്കും നമുക്കും ചുമപ്പാന് കിഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ലത്ത നുകം ശിഷ്യന്മാരുടെ കഴുത്തില് വെപ്പാന് നിങ്ങള് ഇപ്പോള് ദൈവത്തെ പരീക്ഷിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു?

10. Now therefore why tempt ye God to put a yoke upon the necks of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

11. കര്ത്താവയ യേശുവിന്റെ കൃപയാല് രക്ഷപ്രാപിക്കും എന്നു നാം വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നതു പോലെ അവരും വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു

11. But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.'

12. ജനസമൂഹം എല്ലാം മിണ്ടാതെ ബര്ന്നബാസും പൌലൊസും ദൈവം തങ്ങളെക്കൊണ്ടു ജാതികളുടെ ഇടയില് ചെയ്യിച്ച അടയാളങ്ങളും അത്ഭുതങ്ങളും എല്ലാം വിവരിക്കുന്നതു കേട്ടുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

12. Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul as they declared what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.

13. അവര് പറഞ്ഞു നിറുത്തിയശേഷം യാക്കോബ് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതു

13. And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, 'Men and brethren, hearken unto me.

14. സഹോദരന്മാരേ, എന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടു കൊള്വിന് ; ദൈവം തന്റെ നാമത്തിന്നായി ജാതികളില്നിന്നു ഒരു ജനത്തെ എടുത്തുകൊള്വാന് ആദ്യമായിട്ടു കടാക്ഷിച്ചതു ശിമോന് വിവരിച്ചുവല്ലോ.

14. Simon hath declared how God at the first visited the Gentiles to take out from them a people for His name.

15. ഇതിനോടു പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ വാക്യങ്ങളും ഒക്കുന്നു.

15. And to this agree the words of the Prophets, as it is written:

16. “അനന്തരം ഞാന് ദാവീദിന്റെ വീണുപോയ കൂടാരത്തെ വീണ്ടും പണിയും; അതിന്റെ ശൂന്യശിഷ്ടങ്ങളെ വീണ്ടും പണിതു അതിനെ നിവിര്ത്തും;
യിരേമ്യാവു 12:15, ആമോസ് 9:9-12

16. `After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down. And I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up,

17. മനുഷ്യരില് ശേഷിച്ചവരും എന്റെ നാമം വിളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന തദസകലജാതികളും കര്ത്താവിനെ അന്വേഷിക്കും എന്നു .

17. that the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles upon whom My name is called, saith the Lord who doeth all these things.'

18. ഇതു പൂര്വകാലം മുതല് അറിയിക്കുന്ന കര്ത്താവു അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു” എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.
യെശയ്യാ 45:21

18. Known unto God are all His works from the beginning of the world.

19. ആകയാല് ജാതികളില്നിന്നു ദൈവത്തിങ്കലേക്കു തിരിയുന്നവരെ നാം അസഹ്യപ്പെടുത്താതെ

19. Therefore my judgment is that we trouble not those from among the Gentiles who are turned to God,

20. അവര് വിഗ്രഹമാലിന്യങ്ങള്, പരസംഗം, ശ്വാസംമുട്ടിച്ചത്തതു, രക്തം എന്നിവ വര്ജ്ജിച്ചിരിപ്പാന് നാം അവര്ക്കും എഴുതേണം എന്നു ഞാന് അഭിപ്രായപ്പെടുന്നു.

20. but that we write unto them that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.

21. മോശെയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണം ശബ്ബത്തുതോറും പള്ളികളില് വായിച്ചുവരുന്നതിനാല് പൂര്വകാലംമുതല് പട്ടണം തോറും അതു പ്രസംഗിക്കുന്നവര് ഉണ്ടല്ലോ.

21. For Moses from olden times hath in every city those who preach him, he being read in the synagogues every Sabbath day.'

22. അപ്പോള് തങ്ങളില് ചില പുരുഷന്മാരെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു പൌലൊസിനോടും ബര്ന്നബാസിനോടും കൂടെ അന്ത്യൊക്ക്യയിലേക്കു അയക്കേണം എന്നു അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരും മൂപ്പന്മാരും സര്വസഭയും നിര്ണ്ണയിച്ചു, സഹോദരന്മാരില് പ്രമാണപ്പെട്ട പുരുഷന്മാരായ ബര്ശബാസ് എന്ന യൂദയെയും ശീലാസിനെയും നിയോഗിച്ചു.

22. Then it pleased the apostles and elders, together with the whole church, to send men chosen from their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas, namely Judas surnamed Barsabbas, and Silas, chief men among the brethren.

23. അവരുടെ കൈവശം എഴുതി അയച്ചതെന്തെന്നാല്അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരും മൂപ്പന്മാരായ സഹോദരന്മാരും അന്ത്യൊക്ക്യയിലും സൂറിയയിലും കിലിക്ക്യയിലും ജാതികളില് നിന്നു ചേര്ന്ന സഹോദരന്മാര്ക്കും വന്ദനം.

23. And they wrote letters to accompany them in this manner: 'The apostles and elders and brethren send greetings unto the brethren who are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia:

24. ഞങ്ങള് കല്പന കൊടുക്കാതെ ചിലര് ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില്നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു നിങ്ങളെ വാക്കുകളാല് ഭ്രമിപ്പിച്ചു നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയങ്ങളെ കലക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു എന്നു കേള്ക്കകൊണ്ടു

24. Inasmuch as we have heard that certain ones who went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, `Ye must be circumcised and keep the law' -- to whom we gave no such commandment --

25. ഞങ്ങള് ചില പുരുഷന്മാരെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു നമ്മുടെ കര്ത്താവായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ നാമത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടി പ്രാണത്യാഗം ചെയ്തവരായ നമ്മുടെ

25. it seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,

26. പ്രീയ ബര്ന്നബാസോടും പൌലൊസോടും കൂടെ നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് അയക്കേണം എന്നു ഞങ്ങള് ഒരുമനപ്പെട്ടു നിശ്ചയിച്ചു.

26. men who have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

27. ആകയാല് ഞങ്ങള് യൂദയെയും ശീലാസിനെയും അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവര് വാമൊഴിയായും ഇതുതന്നേ അറിയിക്കും.

27. We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things by mouth.

28. വിഗ്രഹാര്പ്പിതം, രക്തം, ശ്വാസംമുട്ടിച്ചത്തതു, പരസംഗം എന്നിവ വര്ജ്ജിക്കുന്നതു ആവശ്യം എന്നല്ലാതെ അധികമായ ഭാരം ഒന്നും നിങ്ങളുടെ മേല് ചുമത്തരുതു എന്നു പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിന്നും ഞങ്ങള്ക്കും തോന്നിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

28. For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things:

29. ഇവ വര്ജ്ജിച്ചു സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ടാല് നന്നു; ശുഭമായിരിപ്പിന് .

29. that ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication. If ye keep yourselves from these things, ye shall do well. Fare ye well!'

30. അങ്ങനെ അവര് വിടവാങ്ങി അന്ത്യൊക്ക്യയില് ചെന്നു ജനസമൂഹത്തെ കൂട്ടിവരുത്തി ലേഖനം കൊടുത്തു.

30. So when they were sent off, they went to Antioch. And when they had gathered the multitude together, they delivered the epistle;

31. അവര് ഈ ആശ്വാസവചനം വായിച്ചു സന്തോഷിച്ചു.

31. and when they had read it, they rejoiced in its consolation.

32. യൂദയും ശീലാസും പ്രവാചകന്മാര് ആകകൊണ്ടു പല വചനങ്ങളാലും സഹോദരന്മാരെ പ്രബോധിപ്പിച്ചു ഉറപ്പിച്ചു.

32. And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and strengthened them.

33. കുറെനാള് താമസിച്ചശേഷം സഹോദരന്മാര് അവരെ അയച്ചവരുടെ അടുക്കലേക്കു സമാധാനത്തോടെ പറഞ്ഞയച്ചു.

33. And after they had tarried there a space, they were let go in peace by the brethren to return unto the apostles.

34. എന്നാല് പൌലൊസും ബര്ന്നബാസും അന്ത്യൊക്ക്യയില് പാര്ത്തു മറ്റു പലരോടും കൂടി കര്ത്താവിന്റെ വചനം ഉപദേശിച്ചും സുവിശേഷിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

34. Notwithstanding, it pleased Silas to remain there still.

35. കുറെനാള് കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു പൌലൊസ് ബര്ന്നബാസിനോടുനാം കര്ത്താവിന്റെ വചനം അറിയിച്ച പട്ടണംതോറും പിന്നെയും ചെന്നു സഹോദരന്മാര് എങ്ങനെയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു നോക്കുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

35. Paul and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching the Word of the Lord, with many others also.

36. മര്ക്കൊസ് എന്ന യോഹന്നാനെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു പോകുവാന് ബര്ന്നബാസ് ഇച്ഛിച്ചു.

36. And some days later, Paul said unto Barnabas, 'Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the Word of the Lord, and see how they do.'

37. പൌലൊസോ പംഫുല്യയില്നിന്നു തങ്ങളെ വിട്ടു പ്രവൃത്തിക്കു വരാതെ പോയവനെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു പോകുന്നതു യോഗ്യമല്ല എന്നു നിരൂപിച്ചു.

37. And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.

38. അങ്ങനെ അവര് തമ്മില് ഉഗ്രവാദമുണ്ടായിട്ടു വേര് പിരിഞ്ഞു. ബര്ന്നബാസ് മര്ക്കൊസിനെ കൂട്ടി കപ്പല്കയറി കുപ്രൊസ് ദ്വീപിലേക്കു പോയി.

38. But Paul thought it not good to take him with them, as he had departed from them in Pamphylia, and had not gone with them in the work.

39. പൌലൊസോ ശീലാസിനെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു സഹോദരന്മാരാല് കര്ത്താവിന്റെ കൃപയില് ഭരമേല്പിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടു

39. And the contention was so sharp between them that they parted asunder, one from the other; and so Barnabas took Mark and sailed to Cyprus.

40. യാത്ര പുറപ്പെട്ടു സുറിയാ കിലിക്യാ ദേശങ്ങളില് കൂടി സഞ്ചരിച്ചു സഭകളെ ഉറപ്പിച്ചു പോന്നു.

40. And Paul chose Silas and departed, being commended by the brethren unto the grace of God.
