1. അവന് ദെര്ബ്ബെയിലും ലുസ്ത്രയിലും ചെന്നു. അവിടെ വിശ്വാസമുള്ളോരു യെഹൂദ സ്ത്രീയുടെ മകനായി തിമൊഥെയൊസ് എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു ശിഷ്യന് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അവന്റെ അപ്പന് യവനനായിരുന്നു.

1. Then came he to Derbe and to Lystra: and beholde, a certaine disciple was there named Timotheus, a womans sonne, which was a Iewesse and beleeued, but his father was a Grecian,

2. അവന് ലുസ്ത്രയിലും ഇക്കോന്യയിലുമുള്ള സഹോദരന്മാരാല് നല്ല സാക്ഷ്യം കൊണ്ടവന് ആയിരുന്നു.

2. Of whom the brethren which were at Lystra and Iconium, reported well.

3. അവന് തന്നോടുകൂടെ പോരേണം എന്നു പൌലൊസ് ഇച്ഛിച്ചു; അവന്റെ അപ്പന് യവനന് എന്നു അവിടങ്ങളിലുള്ള യഹൂദന്മാര് എല്ലാവരും അറിഞ്ഞിരുന്നതിനാല് അവരെ വിചാരിച്ചു അവനെ പരിച്ഛേദന കഴിപ്പിച്ചു.

3. Therefore Paul would that he should go forth with him, and tooke and circumcised him, because of ye Iewes, which were in those quarters: for they knewe all, that his father was a Grecian.

4. അവര് പട്ടണം തോറും ചെന്നു യെരൂശലേമിലെ അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരും മൂപ്പന്മാരും വിധിച്ച നിര്ണ്ണയങ്ങള് പ്രമാണിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവര്ക്കും ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.

4. And as they went through the cities, they deliuered them the decrees to keepe, ordeined of the Apostles and Elders, which were at Hierusalem.

5. അങ്ങനെ സഭകള് വിശ്വാസത്തില് ഉറെക്കയും എണ്ണത്തില് ദിവസേന പെരുകുകയും ചെയ്തു.

5. And so were the Churches stablished in the faith, and encreased in number daily.

6. അവര് ആസ്യയില് വചനം പ്രസംഗിക്കരുതെന്നു പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു വിലക്കുകയാല് ഫ്രുഗ്യയിലും ഗലാത്യദേശത്തിലും കൂടി സഞ്ചരിച്ചു,

6. Nowe when they had gone throughout Phrygia, and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden of the holy Ghost to preache the worde in Asia.

7. മുസ്യയില് എത്തി ബിഥുന്യെക്കു പോകുവാന് ശ്രമിച്ചു; യേശുവിന്റെ ആത്മാവോ അവരെ സമ്മതിച്ചില്ല.

7. Then came they to Mysia, and sought to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not.

8. അവര് മുസ്യ കടന്നു ത്രോവാസില് എത്തി.

8. Therefore they passed through Mysia, and came downe to Troas,

9. അവിടെവെച്ചു പൌലൊസ് രാത്രിയില് മക്കെദോന്യക്കാരനായൊരു പുരുഷന് അരികെ നിന്നുനീ മക്കെദോന്യെക്കു കടന്നുവന്നു ഞങ്ങളെ സഹായിക്ക എന്നു തന്നോടു അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നതായി ഒരു ദര്ശനം കണ്ടു.

9. Where a vision appeared to Paul in the night. There stoode a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come into Macedonia, and helpe vs.

10. ഈ ദര്ശനം കണ്ടിട്ടു അവരോടു സുവിശേഷം അറിയിപ്പാന് ദൈവം ഞങ്ങളെ വിളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു നിശ്ചയിച്ചു, ഞങ്ങള് ഉടനെ മക്കെദോന്യെക്കു പുറപ്പെടുവാന് ശ്രമിച്ചു.

10. And after he had seene the vision, immediatly we prepared to goe into Macedonia, being assured that the Lord had called vs to preache the Gospel vnto them.

11. അങ്ങനെ ഞങ്ങള് ത്രോവാസില്നിന്നു കപ്പല് നീക്കി നേരെ സമൊത്രാക്കെയിലേക്കും പിറ്റെന്നാള് നവപൊലിക്കും അവിടെ നിന്നു ഫിലിപ്പിയിലേക്കും ചെന്നു.

11. Then went we forth from Troas, and with a straight course came to Samothracia, and the next day to Neapolis,

12. ഇതു മക്കെദോന്യയുടെ ആ ഭാഗത്തെ ഒരു പ്രധാന പട്ടണവും റോമക്കാര് കുടിയേറിപ്പാര്ത്തതും ആകുന്നു. ആ പട്ടണത്തില് ഞങ്ങള് ചില ദിവസം പാര്ത്തു.

12. And from thence to Philippi, which is the chiefe citie in ye partes of Macedonia, and whose inhabitants came from Rome to dwell there, and we were in that citie abiding certaine dayes.

13. ശബ്ബത്തുനാളില് ഞങ്ങള് ഗോപുരത്തിന്നു പുറത്തേക്കു പോയി അവിടെ പ്രാര്ത്ഥനാസ്ഥലം ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കും എന്നു ഞങ്ങള് വിചാരിച്ചു പുഴവക്കത്തു ഇരുന്നു; അവിടെ കൂടിവന്ന സ്ത്രീകളോടു സംസാരിച്ചു.

13. And on the Sabbath day, we went out of the citie, besides a Riuer, where they were wont to pray: and we sate downe, and spake vnto the women, which were come together.

14. തുയത്തൈരാപട്ടണക്കാരത്തിയും രക്താംബരം വിലക്കുന്നവളുമായി ലുദിയ എന്നു പേരുള്ള ദൈവ ഭക്തയായോരു സ്ത്രീ കേട്ടുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു. പൌലൊസ് സംസാരിച്ചതു ശ്രദ്ധിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു കര്ത്താവു അവളുടെ ഹൃദയം തുറന്നു

14. And a certaine woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the citie of the Thyatirians, which worshipped God, heard vs: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended vnto the things, which Paul spake.

15. അവളും കുടുംബവും സ്നാനം ഏറ്റ ശേഷംനിങ്ങള് എന്നെ കര്ത്താവില് വിശ്വസ്ത എന്നു എണ്ണിയിരിക്കുന്നുവെങ്കില് എന്റെ വീട്ടില് വന്നു പാര്പ്പിന് എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു ഞങ്ങളെ നിര്ബ്ബന്ധിച്ചു.

15. And when she was baptized, and her houshold, she besought vs, saying, If ye haue iudged me to be faithfull to ye Lord, come into mine house, and abide there: and she constrained vs.

16. ഞങ്ങള് പ്രാര്ത്ഥനാസ്ഥലത്തേക്കു ചെല്ലുമ്പോള് വെളിച്ചപ്പാടത്തിയായി ലക്ഷണം പറഞ്ഞു യജമാനന്മാര്ക്കും വളരെ ലാഭം വരുത്തുന്ന ഒരു ബാല്യക്കാരത്തി ഞങ്ങളെ എതിരേറ്റു.

16. And it came to passe that as we went to prayer, a certaine maide hauing a spirit of diuination, mette vs, which gate her masters much vantage with diuining.

17. അവള് പൌലൊസിന്റെയും ഞങ്ങളുടെയും പിന്നാലെ വന്നുഈ മനുഷ്യര് അത്യുന്നതനായ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദാസന്മാര്, രക്ഷാമാര്ഗ്ഗം നിങ്ങളോടു അറിയിക്കുന്നവര് എന്നു വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു.

17. She followed Paul and vs, and cryed, saying, These men are the seruants of the most high God, which shewe vnto you the way of saluation.

18. ഇങ്ങനെ അവള് പലനാള് ചെയ്തുവന്നു. പൌലൊസ് മുഷിഞ്ഞു തിരിഞ്ഞു നോക്കി അവളിലുള്ള ഭൂതത്തോടുഅവളെ വിട്ടുപോകുവാന് ഞാന് യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ നാമത്തില് നിന്നോടു കല്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ആ നാഴികയില് തന്നേ അതു അവളെ വിട്ടുപോയി.

18. And this did she many dayes: but Paul being grieued, turned about, and said to the spirit, I commaund thee in the Name of Iesus Christ, that thou come out of her. And he came out the same houre.

19. അവളുടെ യജമാനാന്മാര് തങ്ങളുടെ ലാഭത്തിന്റെ ആശ പോയ്പോയതു കണ്ടിട്ടു പൌലൊസിനെയും ശീലാസിനെയും പിടിച്ചു, ചന്തസ്ഥലത്തു പ്രമാണികളുടെ അടുക്കലേക്കു വലിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോയി

19. Nowe when her masters sawe that the hope of their gaine was gone, they caught Paul and Silas, and drewe them into the market place vnto the Magistrates,

20. അധിപതികളുടെ മുമ്പില് നിര്ത്തി; യെഹൂദന്മാരായ ഈ മനുഷ്യര് നമ്മുടെ പട്ടണത്തെ കലക്കി,

20. And brought them to the gouernours, saying, These men which are Iewes, trouble our citie,

21. റോമാക്കാരായ നമുക്കു അംഗീകരിപ്പാനും അനുസരിപ്പാനും ന്യായമല്ലാത്ത ആചാരങ്ങളെ പ്രസംഗിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

21. And preache ordinances, which are not lawfull for vs to receiue, neither to obserue, seeing we are Romanes.

22. പുരുഷാരവും അവരുടെ നേരെ ഇളകി; അധിപതികള് അവരുടെ വസ്ത്രം പറിച്ചുരിഞ്ഞു കോല്കൊണ്ടു അവരെ അടിപ്പാന് കല്പിച്ചു.

22. The people also rose vp together against them, and the gouernours rent their clothes, and commanded them to be beaten with roddes.

23. അവരെ വളരെ അടിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം തടവില് ആക്കി കാരാഗൃഹപ്രമാണിയോടു അവരെ സൂക്ഷമത്തോടെ കാപ്പാന് കല്പിച്ചു.

23. And when they had beaten them sore, they cast them into prison, commaunding the Iayler to keepe them surely.

24. അവന് ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ള കല്പന കിട്ടുകയാല് അവരെ അകത്തെ തടവില് ആക്കി അവരുടെ കാല് ആമത്തില് ഇട്ടു പൂട്ടി.

24. Who hauing receiued such commandement, cast them into the inner prison, and made their feete fast in the stockes.

25. അര്ദ്ധരാത്രിക്കു പൌലൊസും ശീലാസും പ്രാര്ത്ഥിച്ചു ദൈവത്തെ പാടി സ്തുതിച്ചുതടവുകാര് ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

25. Nowe at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sung Psalmes vnto God: and the prisoners heard them.

26. പെട്ടെന്നു വലിയോരു ഭൂകമ്പം ഉണ്ടായി, കാരാഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാനം കുലുങ്ങി വാതില് ഒക്കെയും തുറന്നുപോയി, എല്ലാവരുടെയും ചങ്ങല അഴിഞ്ഞുവീണു -

26. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundation of the prison was shaken: and by and by all the doores opened, and euery mans bands were loosed.

27. കരാഗൃഹ പ്രമാണി ഉറക്കുണര്ന്നു കാരാഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ വാതിലുകള് ഉറന്നിരിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടിട്ടു ചങ്ങലക്കാര് ഔടിപ്പോയ്ക്കളഞ്ഞു. എന്നു ഊഹിച്ചു വാളൂരി തന്നെത്താന് കൊല്ലുവാന് ഭാവിച്ചു.

27. Then the keeper of the prison waked out of his sleepe, and when he sawe the prison doores open, he drewe out his sword and would haue killed himselfe, supposing the prisoners had bin fled.

28. അപ്പോള് പൌലൊസ്നിനക്കു ഒരു ദോഷവും ചെയ്യരുത്; ഞങ്ങള് എല്ലാവരും ഇവിടെ ഉണ്ടല്ലോ എന്നു ഉറക്കെ വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.

28. But Paul cryed with a loude voyce, saying, Doe thy selfe no harme: for we are all here.

29. അവന് വെളിച്ചം ചോദിച്ചു അകത്തേക്കു ചാടി വിറെച്ചുകൊണ്ടു പൌലൊസിന്റെയും ശീലാസിന്റെയും മുമ്പില് വീണു.

29. Then he called for a light, and leaped in, and came trembling, and fell downe before Paul and Silas,

30. അവരെ പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുവന്നുയജമാനന്മാരേ, രക്ഷ പ്രാപിപ്പാന് ഞാന് എന്തു ചെയ്യേണം എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

30. And brought them out, and said, Syrs, what must I doe to be saued?

31. കര്ത്താവായ യേശുവില് വിശ്വസിക്ക; എന്നാല് നീയും നിന്റെ കുടുംബവും രക്ഷപ്രാപിക്കും എന്നു അവര് പറഞ്ഞു.

31. And they saide, Beleeue in the Lord Iesus Christ, and thou shalt be saued, and thine houshold.

32. പിന്നെ അവര് കര്ത്താവിന്റെ വചനം അവനോടും അവന്റെ വീട്ടിലുള്ള എല്ലാവരോടും പ്രസംഗിച്ചു.

32. And they preached vnto him the worde of the Lord, and to all that were in the house.

33. അവന് രാത്രിയില്, ആ നാഴികയില് തന്നേ, അവരെ കൂട്ടീകൊണ്ടുപോയി അവരുടെ മുറിവുകളെ കഴുകി; താനും തനിക്കുള്ളവരെല്ലാവരും താമസിയാതെ സ്നാനം ഏറ്റു.

33. Afterwarde he tooke them the same houre of the night, and washed their stripes, and was baptized with all that belonged vnto him, straigthway.

34. പിന്നെ അവരെ വീട്ടില് കൈക്കൊണ്ടു അവര്ക്കും ഭക്ഷണം കൊടുത്തു, ദൈവത്തില് വിശ്വസിച്ചതില് വീടടക്കം ആനന്ദിച്ചു.

34. And when he had brought them into his house, he set meate before them, and reioyced that he with all his houshold beleeued in God.

35. നേരം പുലര്ന്നപ്പോള് അധിപതികള് കോല്ക്കാരെ അയച്ചുആ മനുഷ്യരെ വീട്ടയക്കേണം എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

35. And when it was day, the gouernours sent the sergeants, saying, Let those men goe.

36. കാരാഗൃഹപ്രമാണി ഈ വാക്കു പൌലൊസിനോടു അറിയിച്ചുനിങ്ങളെ വിട്ടയപ്പാന് അധിപതികള് ആളയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ആകയാല് സമാധാനത്തോടെ പോകുവിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

36. Then the keeper of the prison tolde these woordes vnto Paul, saying, The gouerness haue sent to loose you: nowe therefore get you hence, and goe in peace.

37. പൌലൊസ് അവരോടുറോമപൌരന്മാരായ ഞങ്ങളെ അവര് വിസ്താരം കൂടാതെ പരസ്യമായി അടിപ്പിച്ചു തടവിലാക്കിയല്ലോ; ഇപ്പോള് രഹസ്യമായി ഞങ്ങളെ പുറത്താക്കുന്നുവോ? അങ്ങനെ അല്ല; അവര് തന്നേ വന്നു ഞങ്ങളെ പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോകട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

37. Then sayde Paul vnto them, After that they haue beaten vs openly vncodemned, which are Romanes, they haue cast vs into prison, and nowe would they put vs out priuily? nay verely: but let them come and bring vs out.

38. കോല്ക്കാര് ആ വാക്കു അധിപതികളോടു ബോധിപ്പിച്ചാറെ അവര് റോമ പൌരന്മാര് എന്നു കേട്ടു അവര് ഭയപ്പെട്ടു ചെന്നു അവരോടു നല്ല വാക്കു പറഞ്ഞു.

38. And the sergeants tolde these woordes vnto the gouernours, who feared whe they heard that they were Romanes.

39. അവരെ പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു പട്ടണം വിട്ടുപോകേണം എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

39. Then came they and praied them, and brought them out, and desired them to depart out of the citie.

40. അവര് തടവു വിട്ടു ലുദിയയുടെ വീട്ടില് ചെന്നു സഹോദരന്മാരെ കണ്ടു ആശ്വസിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം പുറപ്പെട്ടു പോയി.

40. And they went out of the prison, and entred into the house of Lydia: and when they had seene the brethren, they comforted them, and departed.
