1. നിങ്ങളുടെ സമക്ഷത്തു താഴ്മയുള്ളവന് എന്നും അകലത്തിരിക്കെ നിങ്ങളോടു ധൈര്യ്യപ്പെടുന്നവന് എന്നുമുള്ള പൌലൊസായ ഞാന് ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ സൌമ്യതയും ശാന്തതയും ഔര്പ്പിച്ചു നിങ്ങളെ പ്രബോധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

1. I Paul my selfe beseche you by the mekenesse & gentlenesse of Christ, whiche when I am present among you, am lowlye: but am bolde towarde you beyng absent.

2. ഞങ്ങള് ജഡത്തെ അനുസരിച്ചു നടക്കുന്നു എന്നു നിരൂപിക്കുന്ന ചിലരോടു ധീരത കാണിപ്പാന് ഞാന് ഭാവിക്കുന്നു; ഞാന് നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് വരുമ്പോള് അങ്ങനെ ഖണ്ഡിതമായ ധൈര്യ്യം കാണിപ്പാന് ഇടവരരുതു എന്നു അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

2. I beseche you, that I neede not to be bolde when I am present, with that same boldnesse, wherwith I am supposed to haue ben bolde, agaynst some, which repute vs as though we walked accordyng to the fleshe.

3. ഞങ്ങള് ജഡത്തില് സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്നവര് എങ്കിലും ജഡപ്രകാരം പോരാടുന്നില്ല.

3. For though we walke in the fleshe, yet we do not warre according to ye flesh.

4. ഞങ്ങളുടെ പോരിന്റെ ആയുധങ്ങളോ ജഡികങ്ങള് അല്ല, കോട്ടകളെ ഇടിപ്പാന് ദൈവസന്നിധിയില് ശക്തിയുള്ളവ തന്നേ.

4. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnall, but myghtie through God, to cast downe strong holdes,

5. അവയാല് ഞങ്ങള് സങ്കല്പങ്ങളും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പരിജ്ഞാനത്തിന്നു വിരോധമായി പൊങ്ങുന്ന എല്ലാ ഉയര്ച്ചയും ഇടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു, ഏതു വിചാരത്തെയും ക്രിസ്തുവിനോടുള്ള അനുസരണത്തിന്നായിട്ടു പിടിച്ചടക്കി,

5. Wherwith we ouerthrowe counsels, and euery hye thyng, that is exalted agaynst the knowledge of God, & bryng into captiuitie all imagination, to the obedience of Christe,

6. നിങ്ങളുടെ അനുസരണം തികഞ്ഞു വരുമ്പോള് എല്ലാ അനുസരണക്കേടിന്നും പ്രതികാരം ചെയ്വാന് ഒരുങ്ങിയുമിരിക്കുന്നു. നിങ്ങള് പുറമെയുള്ളതു നോക്കുന്നു.

6. And are readie to take vengeaunce on all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfylled.

7. താന് ക്രിസ്തുവിന്നുള്ളവന് എന്നു ഒരുത്തന് ഉറച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് അവന് ക്രിസ്തുവിന്നുള്ളവന് എന്നപോലെ ഞങ്ങളും ക്രിസ്തുവിനുള്ളവര് എന്നു അവന് പിന്നെയും നിരൂപിക്കട്ടെ.

7. Loke ye on thynges after the vtter appearaunce? If any man trust in hym selfe that he is Christes, let hym consider this agayne of hym selfe, that as he [is] of Christe, euen so [are] we of Christe.

8. നിങ്ങളെ ഇടിച്ചുകളവാനല്ല പണിവാനത്രേ കര്ത്താവു ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു തന്ന അധികാരത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ഒന്നു അധികം പ്രശംസിച്ചാലും ഞാന് ലജ്ജിച്ചുപോകയില്ല.

8. For though I shoulde boast my selfe somwhat more of our auctoritie, which the Lorde hath geuen to vs for edification, and not for your destruction, it shal not be to my shame:

9. ഞാന് ലേഖനങ്ങളെക്കൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങളെ പേടിപ്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു തോന്നരുതു.

9. Lest I should seeme as though I wet about to make you afrayde by letters.

10. അവന്റെ ലേഖനങ്ങള് ഘനവും ഊറ്റവും ഉള്ളവ തന്നേ; ശരീരസന്നിധിയോ ബലഹീനവും വാക്കു നിന്ദ്യവുമത്രേ എന്നു ചിലര് പറയുന്നുവല്ലോ.

10. For the letters sayth he, are sore and strong: but his bodyly presence is weake, and his speache rude.

11. അകലെയിരിക്കുമ്പോള് ഞങ്ങള് ലേഖനങ്ങളാല് വാക്കില് എങ്ങനെയുള്ളവരോ അരികത്തിരിക്കുമ്പോള് പ്രവൃത്തിയിലും അങ്ങനെയുള്ളവര് തന്നേ എന്നു അങ്ങനത്തവന് നിരൂപിക്കട്ടെ.

11. Let hym that is such, thynke on this wise: that as we are in worde by letters, when we are absent, such are we in deede when we are present.

12. തങ്ങളെത്തന്നേ ശ്ളാഘിക്കുന്ന ചിലരോടു ഞങ്ങളെത്തന്നേ ചേര്ത്തൊരുമിപ്പാനോ ഉപമിപ്പാനോ തുനിയുന്നില്ല; അവര് തങ്ങളാല് തന്നേ തങ്ങളെ അളക്കുകയും തങ്ങളോടു തന്നേ തങ്ങളെ ഉപമിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു തിരിച്ചറിവുള്ളവരല്ല.

12. For we dare not make our selues of the number of them, or to compare our selues to them which praise themselues. Neuerthelesse, whyle they measure them selues, with them selues, and compare them selues with them selues, they vnderstande not.

13. ഞങ്ങളോ അളവില്ലാത്തവണ്ണമല്ല, നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കലോളം എത്തുമാറു ദൈവം ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു അളന്നുതന്ന അതിരിന്റെ അളവിന്നു ഒത്തവണ്ണമത്രേ പ്രശംസിക്കുന്നതു.

13. But we wyll not reioyce aboue measure: but accordyng to the measure of the rule, which God hath distributed vnto vs, a measure to reache euen vnto you.

14. ഞങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കലോളം എത്താതെ അതിര് കടന്നു പോകുന്നു എന്നല്ല; ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ സുവിശേഷം പ്രസംഗിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു ഞങ്ങള് നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കലോളം വന്നിട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ.

14. For we stretch not out our selues beyonde measure, as though we reached not vnto you: For euen to you also haue we come with the Gospell of Christe:

15. ഞങ്ങള് മറ്റുള്ളവരുടെ പ്രയത്നഫലം കൈവശമാക്കി അളവില്ലാതെ പ്രശംസിക്കുന്നു എന്നുമില്ല. നിങ്ങളുടെ വിശ്വാസം വര്ദ്ധിച്ചാല് ഞങ്ങളുടെ അതിരിന്നകത്തു നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയില് അത്യന്തം വലുതായ ഫലം പ്രാപിപ്പാനും

15. And we boast not our selues out of measure in other mens labours: Yea, and we hope, when your fayth is increased among you, to be magnified accordyng to our measure aboundauntly,

16. മറ്റൊരുത്തന്റെ അതിരിന്നകത്തു സാധിച്ചതില് പ്രശംസിക്കാതെ നിങ്ങള്ക്കു അപ്പുറത്തുള്ള ദിക്കുകളോളം സുവിശേഷം പ്രസംഗിപ്പാനും ആശിക്കയത്രേ ചെയ്യുന്നു.

16. And that I shall preache the Gospell, in those [regions] which [are] beyonde you: and not to glorie of those thynges, which by another mans measure are prepared alredy.

17. പ്രശംസിക്കുന്നവന് കര്ത്താവില് പ്രശംസിക്കട്ടെ. തന്നെത്താന് പുകഴ്ത്തുന്നവനല്ല കര്ത്താവു പുകഴ്ത്തുന്നവനത്രേ കൊള്ളാകുന്നവന് .

17. But let hym that glorieth, glorie in the Lorde.
