1. അവകാശി സര്വ്വത്തിന്നും യജമാനന് എങ്കിലും ശിശുവായിരിക്കുന്നേടത്തോളം ദാസനെക്കാള് ഒട്ടും വിശേഷതയുള്ളവനല്ല,

1. But I say that as long as the son is a child, he is in no way different from a servant, though he is lord of all;

2. പിതാവു നിശ്ചയിച്ച അവധിയോളം രക്ഷകന്മാര്ക്കും ഗൃഹവിചാരകന്മാര്ക്കും കീഴ്പെട്ടവനത്രേ എന്നു ഞാന് പറയുന്നു.

2. But is under keepers and managers till the time fixed by the father.

3. അതുപോലെ നാമും ശിശുക്കള് ആയിരുന്നപ്പോള് ലോകത്തിന്റെ ആദി പാഠങ്ങളിന് കീഴ് അടിമപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു.

3. So we, when we were young, were kept under the first rules of the world;

4. എന്നാല് കാലസമ്പൂര്ണ്ണതവന്നപ്പോള് ദൈവം തന്റെ പുത്രനെ സ്ത്രീയില്നിന്നു ജനിച്ചവനായി ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിന് കീഴ് ജനിച്ചവനായി നിയോഗിച്ചയച്ചതു

4. But when the time had come, God sent out his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

5. അവന് ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിന് കീഴുള്ളവരെ വിലെക്കു വാങ്ങിട്ടു നാം പുത്രത്വം പ്രാപിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നേ.

5. That he might make them free who were under the law, and that we might be given the place of sons.

6. നിങ്ങള് മക്കള് ആകകൊണ്ടു അബ്ബാ പിതാവേ എന്നു വിളിക്കുന്ന സ്വപുത്രന്റെ ആത്മാവിനെ ദൈവം നമ്മുടെ ഹൃദയങ്ങളില് അയച്ചു.

6. And because you are sons, God has sent out the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, saying, Abba, Father.

7. അങ്ങനെ നീ ഇനി ദാസനല്ല പുത്രനത്രെ; പുത്രനെങ്കിലോ ദൈവഹിതത്താല് അവകാശിയും ആകുന്നു.

7. So that you are no longer a servant, but a son; and if a son, then the heritage of God is yours.

8. എന്നാല് അന്നു നിങ്ങള് ദൈവത്തെ അറിയാതെ സ്വഭാവത്താല് ദൈവങ്ങളല്ലാത്തവര്ക്കും അടിമപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു.

8. But at that time, having no knowledge of God, you were servants to those who by right are no gods:

9. ഇപ്പോഴോ ദൈവത്തെ അറിഞ്ഞും വിശേഷാല് ദൈവം നിങ്ങളെ അറിഞ്ഞുമിരിക്കെ നിങ്ങള് പിന്നെയും ബലഹീനവും ദരിദ്രവുമായ ആദിപാഠങ്ങളിലേക്കു തിരിഞ്ഞു അവേക്കു പുതുതായി അടിമപ്പെടുവാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ?

9. But now that you have come to have knowledge of God, or more truly, God has knowledge of you, how is it that you go back again to the poor and feeble first things, desiring to be servants to them again?

10. നിങ്ങള് ദിവസങ്ങളും മാസങ്ങളും കാലങ്ങളും ആണ്ടുകളും പ്രമാണിക്കുന്നു.

10. You keep days, and months, and fixed times, and years.

11. ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു വേണ്ടി അദ്ധ്വാനിച്ചതു വെറുതെയായി എന്നു ഞാന് ഭയപ്പെടുന്നു.

11. I am in fear of you, that I may have been working for you to no purpose.

12. സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ഞാന് നിങ്ങളേപ്പോലെ ആകയാല് നിങ്ങളും എന്നെപ്പോലെ ആകുവാന് ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു. നിങ്ങള് എന്നോടു ഒരു അന്യായവും ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല.

12. My desire for you, brothers, is that you may be as I am, because I am as you are. You have done me no wrong;

13. ഞാന് ശരീരത്തിലെ ബലഹീനതനിമിത്തം ഒന്നാമതു നിങ്ങളോടു സുവിശേഷം അറിയിപ്പാന് സംഗതിവന്നു എന്നു നിങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ.

13. But you have knowledge that with a feeble body I was preaching the good news to you the first time;

14. എന്റെ ശരീരസംബന്ധമായി നിങ്ങള്ക്കുണ്ടായ പരീക്ഷനിമിത്തം നിങ്ങള് നിന്ദയോ വെറുപ്പോ കാണിക്കാതെ ദൈവദൂതനെപ്പോലെ , ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവിനെപ്പോലെ എന്നെ കൈക്കൊള്കയത്രേ ചെയ്തതു.

14. And you did not have a poor opinion of me because of the trouble in my flesh, or put shame on it; but you took me to your hearts as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.

15. നിങ്ങളുടെ ഭാഗ്യപ്രശംസ എവിടെ? കഴിയും എങ്കില് നിങ്ങളുടെ കണ്ണു ചൂന്നെടുത്തു എനിക്കു തരുമായിരുന്നു എന്നതിന്നു ഞാന് സാക്ഷി.

15. Where then is that happy condition of yours? because I give you witness, that, if possible, you would have taken out your eyes and given them to me.

16. അങ്ങനെയിരിക്കെ നിങ്ങളോടു സത്യം പറകകൊണ്ടു ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ശത്രുവായിപ്പോയോ?

16. So then am I no longer your friend, because I give you true words?

17. അവര് നിങ്ങളെക്കറിച്ചു എരിവു കാണിക്കുന്നതു ഗുണത്തിന്നായിട്ടല്ല; നിങ്ങളും അവരെക്കുറിച്ചു എരിവു കാണിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവര് നിങ്ങളെ പുറത്തിട്ടു അടെച്ചുകളവാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കയത്രെ ചെയ്യുന്നതു.

17. Their interest in you is not good; but their desire is that you may be shut out, so that you may go after them.

18. ഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോള് മാത്രമല്ല എല്ലായ്പോഴും നല്ല കാര്യത്തില് എരിവു കാണിക്കുന്നതു നന്നു.

18. But it is good to have an interest in a good cause at all times, and not only when I am present with you.

19. ക്രിസ്തു നിങ്ങളില് ഉരുവാകുവോളം ഞാന് പിന്നെയും പ്രസവവേദനപ്പെടുന്നവരായ എന്റെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ,

19. My children, of whom I am again in birth-pains till Christ is formed in you,

20. ഇന്നു നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് ഇരുന്നു എന്റെ ശബ്ദം മാറ്റുവന് കഴിഞ്ഞിരുന്നു എങ്കില് കൊള്ളായിരുന്നു; ഞാന് നിങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചു വിഷമിക്കുന്നു.

20. Truly my desire is to be present with you now, using a changed voice; for I am troubled about you.

21. ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിന് കീഴിരിപ്പാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കുന്നവരേ, നിങ്ങള് ന്യായപ്രമാണം കേള്ക്കുന്നില്ലയോ?

21. Say, you whose desire it is to be under the law, do you not give ear to the law?

22. എന്നോടു പറവിന് . അബ്രാഹാമിന്നു രണ്ടു പുത്രന്മാര് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ഒരുവന് ദാസി പ്രസവിച്ചവന് , ഒരുവന് സ്വതന്ത്ര പ്രസവിച്ചവന് എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

22. Because it is in the Writings, that Abraham had two sons, one by the servant-woman, and one by the free woman.

23. ദാസിയുടെ മകന് ജഡപ്രകാരവും സ്വതന്ത്രയുടെ മകനോ വാഗ്ദത്തത്താലും ജനിച്ചിരുന്നു.

23. Now the son by the servant-woman has his birth after the flesh; but the son by the free woman has his birth through the undertaking of God.

24. ഇതു സാദൃശ്യമാകുന്നു. ഈ സ്ത്രീകള് രണ്ടു നിയമങ്ങള് അത്രേ; ഒന്നു സീനായ്മലയില്നിന്നു ഉണ്ടായി അടിമകളെ പ്രസവിക്കുന്നു; അതു ഹാഗര്.

24. Which things have a secret sense; because these women are the two agreements; one from the mountain of Sinai, giving birth to servants, which is Hagar.

25. ഹാഗര് എന്നുതു അറബിദേശത്തു സീനായ്മലയെക്കുറിക്കുന്നു. അതു ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ യെരൂശലേമിനോടു ഒക്കുന്നു; അതു തന്റെ മക്കളോടുകൂടെ അടിമയിലല്ലോ ഇരിക്കുന്നതു.

25. Now this Hagar is the mountain Sinai in Arabia, and is the image of the Jerusalem which now is: which is a servant with her children.

26. മീതെയുള്ള യെരൂശലേമോ സ്വതന്ത്രയാകുന്നു. അവള് തന്നേ നമ്മുടെ അമ്മ.

26. But the Jerusalem on high is free, which is our mother.

27. “പ്രസവിക്കാത്ത മച്ചിയേ, ആനന്ദിക്ക; നോവുകിട്ടാത്തവളേ, പൊട്ടി ആര്ക്കുംക; ഏകാകിനിയുടെ മക്കള് ഭര്ത്താവുള്ളവളുടെ മക്കളെക്കാള് അധികം” എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

27. For it is in the Writings, You who have never given birth, be glad; give cries of joy, you who have had no birth-pains; for the children of her who has been given up by her husband are more than those of the woman who has a husband.

28. നാമോ സഹോദരന്മാരേ, യിസ്ഹാക്കിനെപ്പോലെ വാഗ്ദത്തത്താല് ജനിച്ച മക്കള് ആകുന്നു.

28. Now we, brothers, as Isaac was, are the children of the undertaking of God.

29. എന്നാല് അന്നു ജഡപ്രകാരം ജനിച്ചവന് ആത്മപ്രകാരം ജനിച്ചവനെ ഉപദ്രവിച്ചതുപോലെ ഇന്നു കാണുന്നു.

29. But as in those days he who had birth after the flesh was cruel to him who had birth after the Spirit, even so it is now.

30. തിരുവെഴുത്തോ എന്തുപറയുന്നു ദാസിയെയും മകനെയും പുറത്താക്കിക്കളക; ദാസിയുടെ മകന് സ്വതന്ത്രയുടെ മകനോടുകൂടെ അവകാശി ആകയില്ല.

30. What then do the Writings say? Send away the servant-woman and her son; for the son of the servant-woman will not have a part in the heritage with the son of the free woman.

31. അങ്ങനെ സഹോദരന്മാരേ, നാം ദാസിയുടെ മക്കളല്ല സ്വതന്ത്രയുടെ മക്കളത്രേ.

31. So, brothers, we are not children of the servant-woman, but of the free woman.
