1. നുകത്തിന് കീഴില് ദാസന്മാരായിരിക്കുന്നവര് ഒക്കെയും ദൈവനാമവും ഉപദേശവും ദുഷിക്കപ്പെടാതിരിപ്പാന് തങ്ങളുടെ യജമാനന്മാരെ സകലമാനത്തിന്നും യോഗ്യന്മാര് എന്നു എണ്ണേണ്ടതാകുന്നു.

1. Let as many seruauntes as are vnder the yoke, count their maisters worthy of all honour, that the name of god and his doctrine be not blasphemed.

2. വിശ്വാസികളായ യജമാനന്മാരുള്ളവര് അവരെ സഹോദരന്മാര് എന്നുവെച്ചു അലക്ഷ്യമാക്കരുതു; തങ്ങളെക്കൊണ്ടുള്ള ഉപകാരം അനുഭവിക്കുന്നവര് വിശ്വാസികളും പ്രിയരും ആകകൊണ്ടു അവരെ വിശേഷാല് സേവിക്കയത്രേ വേണ്ടതു; ഇതു നീ ഉപദേശിക്കയും പ്രബോധിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്ക.

2. And they whiche haue beleuyng maisters, despise them not because they are brethren: but rather do seruice, forasmuch as they are beleuyng and beloued and partakers of the benefite. These thynges teache and exhort.

3. നമ്മുടെ കര്ത്താവായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ പത്ഥ്യവചനവും ഭക്തിക്കൊത്ത ഉപദേശവും അനുസരിക്കാതെ അന്യഥാ ഉപദേശിക്കുന്നവന് ഒന്നും തിരിച്ചറിയാതെ തക്കത്തിന്റെയും വാഗ്വാദത്തിന്റേയും ഭ്രാന്തുപിടിച്ചു ചീര്ത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; അവയാല് അസൂയ, ശണ്ഠ,

3. Yf any man teache otherwyse, and consenteth not vnto the wholsome wordes of our Lorde Iesus Christe, and to the doctrine whiche is accordyng to godlynesse:

4. ദൂഷണം, ദുസ്സംശയം, ദുര്ബ്ബുദ്ധികളും സത്യ ത്യാഗികളുമായ മനുഷ്യരുടെ വ്യര്ത്ഥ്യവാദം എന്നിവ ഉളവാകുന്നു; അവര് ദൈവഭക്തി ആദായസൂത്രം എന്നു വിചാരിക്കുന്നു.

4. He is puft vp, knowyng nothing, but dotyng about questions and strifes of wordes, wherof commeth enuie, stryfe, raylynges, euyll surmysynges,

5. അലംഭാവത്തോടുകൂടിയ ദൈവഭക്തി വലുതായ ആദയം ആകുന്നുതാനും.

5. Uayne disputations of men of corrupte myndes, destitute of the trueth, thynkyng lucre to be godlynesse. From suche be thou separate.

6. ഇഹലോകത്തിലേക്കു നാം ഒന്നും കൊണ്ടുവന്നിട്ടില്ല; ഇവിടെനിന്നു യാതൊന്നും കൊണ്ടുപോകുവാന് കഴിയുന്നതുമല്ല.

6. Godlynesse is great lucre, if a man be content with that he hath.

7. ഉണ്മാനും ഉടുപ്പാനും ഉണ്ടെങ്കില് മതി എന്നു നാം വിചാരിക്ക.

7. For we brought nothyng into the worlde, and it is certayne that we may carry nought away.

8. ധനികന്മാരാകുവാന് ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവര് പരീക്ഷയിലും കണിയിലും കടുങ്ങുകയും മനുഷ്യര് സംഹാരനാശങ്ങളില് മുങ്ങിപോകുവാന് ഇടവരുന്ന മൌഢ്യവും ദോഷകരവുമായ പല മോഹങ്ങള്ക്കും ഇരയായിത്തീരുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

9. ദ്രവ്യാഗ്രഹം സകലവിധദോഷത്തിന്നും മൂലമല്ലോ. ഇതു ചിലര് കാംക്ഷിച്ചിട്ടു വിശ്വാസം വിട്ടുഴന്നു ബഹു ദുഃഖങ്ങള്ക്കു അധീനരായിത്തീര്ന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

9. For they that wyll be riche, fall into temptations and snares, and into many folishe & noysome lustes, which drowne men in perdition and destruction.

10. നീയോ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മനുഷ്യനായുള്ളോവേ, അതു വിട്ടോടി നീതി, ഭക്തി, വിശ്വാസം, സ്നേഹം, ക്ഷമ, സൌമ്യത എന്നിവയെ പിന്തുടരുക.

10. For loue of money, is the roote of all euyll, whiche whyle some lusted after, they erred from the fayth, & pearced the selues through with many sorowes.

11. വിശ്വാസത്തിന്റെ നല്ല പോര് പൊരുതുക; നിത്യജീവനെ പിടിച്ചുകൊള്ക; അതിന്നായി നീ വിളിക്കപ്പെട്ടു അനേകം സാക്ഷികളുടെ മുമ്പാകെ നല്ല സ്വീകാരം കഴിച്ചുവല്ലോ.

11. But thou O man of God, flee these thynges, and folow after righteousnes, godlynes, faith, loue, pacience, mekenes.

12. നീ നിഷ്കളങ്കനും നിരപവാദ്യനുമായി ഈ കല്പന നമ്മുടെ കര്ത്താവായ യേശുവിന്റെ പ്രത്യക്ഷതവരെ പ്രമാണിച്ചുകൊള്ളേണം

12. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hand on eternall lyfe, wherevnto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

13. എന്നിങ്ങനെ സകലത്തെയും ജീവിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ദൈവത്തെയും പൊന്തിയൊസ് പീലാത്തൊസിന്റെ മുമ്പില് നല്ല സ്വീകാരം കഴിച്ച ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവിനെയും സാക്ഷിവെച്ചു ഞാന് നിന്നോടു ആജ്ഞാപിക്കുന്നു.

13. I geue thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all thynges, and before Iesus Christe, which vnder Pontius Pilate witnessed a good profession,

14. ധന്യനായ ഏകാധിപതിയും രാജാധിരാജാവും കര്ത്താധികര്ത്താവും

14. That thou kepe the commaundement without spot, vnrebukeable, vntyll the appearyng of our Lorde Iesus Christ:

15. താന് മാത്രം അമര്ത്യതയുള്ളവനും അടുത്തുകൂടാത്ത വെളിച്ചത്തില് വസിക്കുന്നവനും മനുഷ്യര് ആരും കാണാത്തവനും കാണ്മാന് കഴിയാത്തവനുമായവന് തക്കസമയത്തു ആ പ്രത്യക്ഷതവരുത്തും. അവന്നു ബഹുമാനവും നിത്യബലവും ഉണ്ടാകട്ടെ. ആമേന് .

18. That they do good, that they be riche in good workes, that they be redye to geue, glad to distribute:

19. അല്ലയോ തിമൊഥെയോസേ, നിന്റെ പക്കല് ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഉപനിധികാത്തുകൊണ്ടു ജ്ഞാനം എന്നു വ്യാജമായി പേര് പറയുന്നതിന്റെ ഭക്തിവിരുദ്ധമായ വൃഥാലാപങ്ങളെയും തര്ക്കസൂത്രങ്ങളെയും ഒഴിഞ്ഞു നില്ക്ക.

19. Laying vp in store for them selues a good foundation agaynst the tyme to come, that they may lay holde on eternall lyfe.

20. ആ ജ്ഞാനം ചിലര് സ്വീകരിച്ചു വിശ്വാസം വിട്ടു തെറ്റിപ്പോയിരിക്കുന്നു.

20. O Timotheus, saue that which is geuen thee to kepe, auoydyng prophane [and] vayne bablynges, and oppositions of science, falslie so called:

21. കൃപ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ.
