1. ആകയാല് സകലദുഷ്ടതയും എല്ലാ ചതിവും വ്യാജഭാവവും അസൂയയും എല്ലാനുണയും നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു

1. Therefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,

2. ഇപ്പോള് ജനിച്ച ശിശുക്കളെപ്പോലെ രക്ഷെക്കായി വളരുവാന് വചനം എന്ന മായമില്ലാത്ത പാല് കുടിപ്പാന്

2. As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that ye may grow by it:

4. To whom coming, [as to] a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God, [and] precious,

5. Ye also, as living stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

6. Therefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Zion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.

7. To you therefore who believe [he is] precious: but to them who are disobedient, the stone which the builders rejected, the same is made the head of the corner,

9. But ye [are] a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a special people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

12. Having your behaviour honest among the Gentiles: that, though they speak against you as evildoers, they may by [your] good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

13. Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether to the king, as supreme;

14. ശ്രേഷ്ഠാധികാരി എന്നുവെച്ചു രാജാവിന്നും ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാരുടെ ദണ്ഡനത്തിന്നും സല്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാരുടെ മാനത്തിന്നുമായി അവനാല് അയക്കപ്പെട്ടവര് എന്നുവെച്ചു നാടുവാഴികള്ക്കും കീഴടങ്ങുവിന് .

14. Or to governors, as to them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.

15. നിങ്ങള് നന്മ ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടു ബുദ്ധിയില്ലാത്ത മനുഷ്യരുടെ ഭോഷത്വം മിണ്ടാതാക്കേണം എന്നുള്ളതു ദൈവേഷ്ടം ആകുന്നു.

15. For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:

16. സ്വതന്ത്രരായും സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം ദുഷ്ടതെക്കു മറയാക്കാതെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദാസന്മാരായും നടപ്പിന് .

16. As free, and not using [your] liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.

17. എല്ലാവരെയും ബഹുമാനിപ്പിന് ; സഹോദരവര്ഗ്ഗത്തെ സ്നേഹിപ്പിന് ; ദൈവത്തെ ഭയപ്പെടുവിന് ; രാജാവിനെ ബഹുമാനിപ്പിന് .

17. Honour all [men]. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

18. Servants, [be] subject to [your] masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the perverse.

19. ഒരുത്തന് ദൈവത്തെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള മനോബോധം നിമിത്തം അന്യായമായി കഷ്ടവും ദുഃഖവും സഹിച്ചാല് അതു പ്രസാദം ആകുന്നു.

19. For this [is] thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endureth grief, suffering wrongfully.

20. നിങ്ങള് കുറ്റം ചെയ്തിട്ടു അടികൊള്ളുന്നതു സഹിച്ചാല് എന്തു യശസ്സുള്ളു? അല്ല, നന്മ ചെയ്തിട്ടു കഷ്ടം സഹിച്ചാല് അതു ദൈവത്തിന്നു പ്രസാദം.

20. For what glory [is it], if, when ye are buffeted for your faults, ye bear it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer [for it], ye bear it patiently, this [is] acceptable with God.

21. അതിന്നായിട്ടല്ലോ നിങ്ങളെ വിളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു. ക്രിസ്തുവും നിങ്ങള്ക്കു വേണ്ടി കഷ്ടം അനുഭവിച്ചു, നിങ്ങള് അവന്റെ കാല്ച്ചുവടു പിന് തുടരുവാന് ഒരു മാതൃക വെച്ചേച്ചു പോയിരിക്കുന്നു.

21. For even to this were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

23. തന്നെ ശകാരിച്ചിട്ടു പകരം ശകാരിക്കാതെയും കഷ്ടം അനുഭവിച്ചിട്ടു ഭീഷണം പറയാതെയും ന്യായമായി വിധിക്കുന്നവങ്കല് കാര്യ്യം ഭരമേല്പിക്കയത്രേ ചെയ്തതു.

23. Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed [himself] to him that judgeth righteously:

24. നാം പാപം സംബന്ധിച്ചു മരിച്ചു നീതിക്കു ജീവിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന് തന്റെ ശരീരത്തില് നമ്മുടെ പാപങ്ങളെ ചുമന്നുകൊണ്ടു ക്രൂശിന്മേല് കയറി; അവന്റെ അടിപ്പിണരാല് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു സൌഖ്യം വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

24. Who himself bore our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live to righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

25. For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned to the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
