1. ഭാര്യ്യമാരേ, നിങ്ങളുടെ ഭര്ത്താക്കന്മാര്ക്കും കീഴടങ്ങിയിരിപ്പിന് ; അവരില് വല്ലവരും വചനം അനുസരിക്കാത്തപക്ഷം ഭയത്തോടുകൂടിയ നിങ്ങളുടെ നിര്മ്മലമായ നടപ്പു കണ്ടറിഞ്ഞു

1. Likewyse let the wyues be in subieccion to their hussbandes, that euen they which beleue not the worde, maye without the worde be wonne by ye couersacion of the wyues,

2. വചനം കൂടാതെ ഭാര്യമാരുടെ നടപ്പിനാല് ചേര്ന്നുവരുവാന് ഇടയാകും.

2. whan they beholde yor pure conuersacion in feare.

3. നിങ്ങളുടെ അലങ്കാരം തലമുടി പിന്നുന്നതും പൊന്നണിയുന്നതും വസ്ത്രം ധരിക്കുന്നതും ഇങ്ങനെ പുറമേയുള്ളതല്ല,

3. Whose apparell shal not be outwarde wt broyded heer, & hanginge on of golde, or in puttynge on of gorgious araye,

4. സൌമ്യതയും സാവധാനതയുമുള്ള മനസ്സു എന്ന അക്ഷയഭൂഷണമായ ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ ഗൂഢമനുഷ്യന് തന്നേ ആയിരിക്കേണം; അതു ദൈവസന്നിധിയില് വിലയേറിയതാകുന്നു.

4. but let ye inwarde ma of ye hert be vncorrupte wt a meke & a quyete sprete, which before God is moch set by.

5. ഇങ്ങനെയല്ലോ പണ്ടു ദൈവത്തില് പ്രത്യാശവെച്ചിരുന്ന വിശുദ്ധസ്ത്രീകള് തങ്ങളെത്തന്നേ അലങ്കരിച്ചു ഭര്ത്താക്കന്മാര്ക്കും കീഴടങ്ങിയിരിരുന്നതു.

5. For after this maner in the olde tyme, dyd ye holy weme which trusted in God, tyer the selues, & were obedient vnto their hussbades:

6. അങ്ങനെ സാറാ അബ്രാഹാമിനെ യജമാനന് എന്നു വിളിച്ചു അനുസരിച്ചിരുന്നു; നന്മ ചെയ്തു യാതൊരു ഭീഷണിയും പേടിക്കാതിരുന്നാല് നിങ്ങള് അവളുടെ മക്കള് ആയിത്തീര്ന്നു.

6. Euen as Sara obeyed Abraham, and called him lorde: whose doughters ye are, as loge as ye do well, not beynge afrayed for eny trouble.

7. അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ ഭര്ത്താക്കന്മാരേ, നിങ്ങളുടെ പ്രാര്ത്ഥനെക്കു മുടക്കം വരാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു വിവേകത്തോടെ ഭാര്യമാരോടുകൂടെ വസിച്ചു, സ്ത്രീജനം ബലഹീനപാത്രം എന്നും അവര് ജീവന്റെ കൃപെക്കു കൂട്ടവകാശികള് എന്നും ഔര്ത്തു അവര്ക്കും ബഹുമാനം കൊടുപ്പിന് .

7. Likewyse ye men, dwell with them acordinge vnto knowlege, geuynge honor vnto the wife, as to the weaker vessel: & as vnto the yt are heyres with you of the grace of life, that youre prayers be not let.

8. തീര്ച്ചെക്കു എല്ലാവരും ഐകമത്യവും സഹതാപവും സഹോദരപ്രീതിയും മനസ്സലിവും വിനയബുദ്ധിയുമുള്ളവരായിരിപ്പിന് .

8. But in conclusion be ye all of one mynde, one suffre with another, loue as brethren, be pitefull, be curteous.

9. ദോഷത്തിന്നു ദോഷവും ശകാരത്തിന്നു ശകാരവും പകരം ചെയ്യാതെ നിങ്ങള് അനുഗ്രഹം അനുഭവിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെട്ടതുകൊണ്ടു അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവരായിരിപ്പിന് .

9. Recopence not euell for euell, nether rebuke for rebuke: but cotrary wyse, blesse: and knowe that ye are called therto, euen yt ye shulde be heyres of ye blessynge.

10. “ജീവനെ ആഗ്രഹിക്കയും ശുഭകാലം കാണ്മാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നവന് ദോഷം ചെയ്യാതെ തന്റെ നാവിനെയും വ്യാജം പറയാതെ അധരത്തെയും അടക്കിക്കൊള്ളട്ടെ.

10. For who so listeth to lyue, and wolde fayne se good dayes, Let him refrayne his tonge from euell, and his lippes yt they speake no gyle.

11. അവന് ദോഷം വിട്ടകന്നു ഗുണം ചെയ്കയും സമാധാനം അന്വേഷിച്ചു പിന്തുടരുകയും ചെയ്യട്ടെ.

11. Let him eschue euell, & do good: Let him seke peace and ensue it.

12. കര്ത്താവിന്റെ കണ്ണു നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ മേലും അവന്റെ ചെവി അവരുടെ പ്രാര്ത്ഥനെക്കും തുറന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്നാല് കര്ത്താവിന്റെ മുഖം ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാര്ക്കും പ്രതിക്കുലമായിരിക്കുന്നു.”

12. For ye eyes of the LORDE are ouer the righteous, & his eares are open vnto their prayers. But ye face of the LORDE beholdeth the yt do euell.

13. നിങ്ങള് നന്മ ചെയ്യുന്നതില് ശൂഷ്കാന്തിയുള്ളവര് ആകുന്നു എങ്കില് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു ദോഷം ചെയ്യുന്നവന് ആര്?

13. And who is it that can harme you, yf ye folowe that which is good?

14. നീതിനിമിത്തം കഷ്ടം സഹിക്കേണ്ടി വന്നാലും നിങ്ങള് ഭാഗ്യവാന്മാര്. അവരുടെ ഭീഷണത്തിങ്കല് ഭയപ്പെടുകയും കലങ്ങുകയുമരുതു; എന്നാല് ക്രിസ്തുവിനെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയങ്ങളില് കര്ത്താവായി വിശുദ്ധീകരിപ്പിന് .

14. Not withstodinge blessed are ye, yf ye suffre for righteousnes sake Feare not ye their threatnynge, nether be troubled,

15. നിങ്ങളിലുള്ള പ്രത്യാശയെക്കുറിച്ചു ന്യായം ചോദിക്കുന്ന ഏവനോടും സൌമ്യതയും ഭയഭക്തിയും പൂണ്ടു പ്രതിവാദം പറവാന് എപ്പോഴും ഒരുങ്ങിയിരിപ്പിന് .

15. but sanctifye the LORDE God in youre hertes. Be ready allwayes to geue an answere to euery ma, that axeth you a reason of the hope that is in you, and that with mekenes & feare,

16. ക്രിസ്തുവില് നിങ്ങള്ക്കുള്ള നല്ല നടപ്പിനെ ദുഷിക്കുന്നവര് നിങ്ങളെ പഴിച്ചു പറയുന്നതില് ലജ്ജിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നല്ലമനസ്സാക്ഷിയുള്ളവരായിരിപ്പിന് .

16. hauynge a good conscience, that they which bacbyte you as euell doers, maye be ashamed, that they haue falsely accused youre good couersacion in Christ.

17. നിങ്ങള് കഷ്ടം സഹിക്കേണം എന്നു ദൈവഹിതമെങ്കില് തിന്മ ചെയ്തിട്ടല്ല, നന്മ ചെയ്തിട്ടു സഹിക്കുന്നതു ഏറ്റവും നന്നു.

17. For it is better (yf the wyll of God be so) that ye suffre for well doynge, the for euell doynge.

18. ക്രിസ്തുവും നമ്മെ ദൈവത്തോടു അടുപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നീതിമാനായി നീതികെട്ടവര്ക്കും വേണ്ടി പാപംനിമിത്തം ഒരിക്കല് കഷ്ടം അനുഭവിച്ചു, ജഡത്തില് മരണശിക്ഷ ഏല്ക്കയും ആത്മാവില് ജീവിപ്പിക്കപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്തു.

18. For as moch as Christ hath once suffred for oure synnes, ye iust for the vniust, for to brynge vs to God: & was slayne after the flesh, but quyckened after the sprete.

19. ആത്മാവില് അവന് ചെന്നു, പണ്ടു നോഹയുടെ കാലത്തു പെട്ടകം ഒരുക്കുന്ന സമയം ദൈവം ദീര്ഘക്ഷമയോടെ കാത്തിരിക്കുമ്പോള് അനുസരിക്കാത്തവരായി തടവിലുള്ള ആത്മാക്കളോടു പ്രസംഗിച്ചു.

19. In the which sprete he also wente, and preached vnto ye spretes that were in preson,

20. ആ പെട്ടകത്തില് അല്പജനം, എന്നുവെച്ചാല് എട്ടുപേര്, വെള്ളത്തില്കൂടി രക്ഷ പ്രാപിച്ചു.

20. which in tyme past beleued not, whan God once a bode and suffred pacietly in the tyme of Noe, whyle the Arke was a preparynge: Wherin fewe (that is to saye eight soules) were saued by water.

21. അതു സ്നാനത്തിന്നു ഒരു മുന് കുറി. സ്നാനമോ ഇപ്പോള് ജഡത്തിന്റെ അഴുകൂ കളയുന്നതായിട്ടല്ല, ദൈവത്തോടു നല്ല മനസ്സാക്ഷിക്കായുള്ള അപേക്ഷയായിട്ടത്രേ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ പുനരുത്ഥാനത്താല് നമ്മെയും രക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

21. Which signifieth baptyme yt now saueth vs: not ye puttinge awaye of the fylth of the flesh, but in yt a good cosciece cosenteth vnto God by ye resurreccion of Iesus Christ,

22. അവന് സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തിലേക്കു പോയി ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വലത്തുഭാഗത്തു ഇരിക്കുന്നു. ദൂതന്മാരും അധികാരങ്ങളും ശക്തികളും അവന്നു കീഴ്പെട്ടുമിരിക്കുന്നു.

22. which is on the righte hande of God, and is gone in to heaue, angels, power and mighte subdued vnto him.
