1. ഭാര്യ്യമാരേ, നിങ്ങളുടെ ഭര്ത്താക്കന്മാര്ക്കും കീഴടങ്ങിയിരിപ്പിന് ; അവരില് വല്ലവരും വചനം അനുസരിക്കാത്തപക്ഷം ഭയത്തോടുകൂടിയ നിങ്ങളുടെ നിര്മ്മലമായ നടപ്പു കണ്ടറിഞ്ഞു

1. In like manner, you+ wives, [be] in subjection to your+ own husbands; that, even if any do not obey the word, they may without the word be gained by the behavior of their wives;

2. വചനം കൂടാതെ ഭാര്യമാരുടെ നടപ്പിനാല് ചേര്ന്നുവരുവാന് ഇടയാകും.

2. watching your+ chaste behavior [coupled] with fear.

3. നിങ്ങളുടെ അലങ്കാരം തലമുടി പിന്നുന്നതും പൊന്നണിയുന്നതും വസ്ത്രം ധരിക്കുന്നതും ഇങ്ങനെ പുറമേയുള്ളതല്ല,

3. Whose [adorning] let it not be the outward adorning of braiding the hair, and of wearing jewels of gold, or of putting on apparel;

4. സൌമ്യതയും സാവധാനതയുമുള്ള മനസ്സു എന്ന അക്ഷയഭൂഷണമായ ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ ഗൂഢമനുഷ്യന് തന്നേ ആയിരിക്കേണം; അതു ദൈവസന്നിധിയില് വിലയേറിയതാകുന്നു.

4. but [let it be] the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptible [apparel] of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

5. ഇങ്ങനെയല്ലോ പണ്ടു ദൈവത്തില് പ്രത്യാശവെച്ചിരുന്ന വിശുദ്ധസ്ത്രീകള് തങ്ങളെത്തന്നേ അലങ്കരിച്ചു ഭര്ത്താക്കന്മാര്ക്കും കീഴടങ്ങിയിരിരുന്നതു.

5. For after this manner previously the holy women also, who hoped in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands:

6. അങ്ങനെ സാറാ അബ്രാഹാമിനെ യജമാനന് എന്നു വിളിച്ചു അനുസരിച്ചിരുന്നു; നന്മ ചെയ്തു യാതൊരു ഭീഷണിയും പേടിക്കാതിരുന്നാല് നിങ്ങള് അവളുടെ മക്കള് ആയിത്തീര്ന്നു.

6. as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord. You+ became her children--doing good and not being put in fear by any terror.

7. You+ husbands, in like manner, dwell with [your+ wives] according to knowledge, giving honor to the woman, as to the weaker vessel, as being also joint-heirs of the grace of life; to the end that your+ prayers not be hindered.

8. തീര്ച്ചെക്കു എല്ലാവരും ഐകമത്യവും സഹതാപവും സഹോദരപ്രീതിയും മനസ്സലിവും വിനയബുദ്ധിയുമുള്ളവരായിരിപ്പിന് .

8. Finally, all of you+ [be] likeminded, compassionate, loving as brothers, tenderhearted, humbleminded:

9. ദോഷത്തിന്നു ദോഷവും ശകാരത്തിന്നു ശകാരവും പകരം ചെയ്യാതെ നിങ്ങള് അനുഗ്രഹം അനുഭവിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെട്ടതുകൊണ്ടു അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവരായിരിപ്പിന് .

9. not rendering evil for evil, or reviling for reviling; but on the contrary blessing; for hereunto were you+ called, that you+ should inherit a blessing.

10. “ജീവനെ ആഗ്രഹിക്കയും ശുഭകാലം കാണ്മാന് ഇച്ഛിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നവന് ദോഷം ചെയ്യാതെ തന്റെ നാവിനെയും വ്യാജം പറയാതെ അധരത്തെയും അടക്കിക്കൊള്ളട്ടെ.

10. For, He who would love life, And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips that they speak no guile:

12. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And his ears to their supplication: But the face of the Lord is on those who do evil.

13. And who is he that will harm you+, if you+ are zealous of that which is good?

14. നീതിനിമിത്തം കഷ്ടം സഹിക്കേണ്ടി വന്നാലും നിങ്ങള് ഭാഗ്യവാന്മാര്. അവരുടെ ഭീഷണത്തിങ്കല് ഭയപ്പെടുകയും കലങ്ങുകയുമരുതു; എന്നാല് ക്രിസ്തുവിനെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയങ്ങളില് കര്ത്താവായി വിശുദ്ധീകരിപ്പിന് .

14. But even if you+ should suffer for righteousness' sake, blessed [are you+]: and don't be afraid of their fear, neither be troubled;

16. yet with meekness and fear, having a good conscience; that, in what you+ are spoken against, they may be put to shame who revile your+ good manner of life in Christ.

17. നിങ്ങള് കഷ്ടം സഹിക്കേണം എന്നു ദൈവഹിതമെങ്കില് തിന്മ ചെയ്തിട്ടല്ല, നന്മ ചെയ്തിട്ടു സഹിക്കുന്നതു ഏറ്റവും നന്നു.

17. For it is better, if the will of God should so will, that you+ suffer for doing good than for doing evil.

18. ക്രിസ്തുവും നമ്മെ ദൈവത്തോടു അടുപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നീതിമാനായി നീതികെട്ടവര്ക്കും വേണ്ടി പാപംനിമിത്തം ഒരിക്കല് കഷ്ടം അനുഭവിച്ചു, ജഡത്തില് മരണശിക്ഷ ഏല്ക്കയും ആത്മാവില് ജീവിപ്പിക്കപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്തു.

18. Because Christ also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring you+ to God; being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;

19. ആത്മാവില് അവന് ചെന്നു, പണ്ടു നോഹയുടെ കാലത്തു പെട്ടകം ഒരുക്കുന്ന സമയം ദൈവം ദീര്ഘക്ഷമയോടെ കാത്തിരിക്കുമ്പോള് അനുസരിക്കാത്തവരായി തടവിലുള്ള ആത്മാക്കളോടു പ്രസംഗിച്ചു.

19. in which also he went and preached to the spirits in prison,

20. who previously were disobedient, when the long-suffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water:

21. which also after a true likeness does now save you+, [even] baptism, not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the interrogation of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ;

22. അവന് സ്വര്ഗ്ഗത്തിലേക്കു പോയി ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വലത്തുഭാഗത്തു ഇരിക്കുന്നു. ദൂതന്മാരും അധികാരങ്ങളും ശക്തികളും അവന്നു കീഴ്പെട്ടുമിരിക്കുന്നു.
