1. കാണ്മിന് , നാം ദൈവമക്കള് എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടുവാന് പിതാവു നമുക്കു എത്ര വലിയ സ്നേഹം നല്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു; അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ നാം ആകുന്നു. ലോകം അവനെ അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ലായ്കകൊണ്ടു നമ്മെയും അറിയുന്നില്ല.

1. Beholde what loue the father hath shewed on vs, yt we shulde be called the childre of God. Therfore ye worlde knoweth you not, because it knoweth not him.

2. പ്രിയമുള്ളവരേ, നാം ഇപ്പോള് ദൈവമക്കള് ആകുന്നു. നാം ഇന്നതു ആകും എന്നു ഇതുവരെ പ്രത്യക്ഷമായില്ല. അവന് പ്രത്യക്ഷനാകുമ്പോള് നാം അവനെ താന് ഇരിക്കും പോലെ തന്നേ കാണുന്നതാകകൊണ്ടു അവനോടു സദൃശന്മാര് ആകും എന്നു നാം അറിയുന്നു.

2. Dearly beloued, we are now ye childre of God, and yet hath it not appeared what we shalbe. But we knowe yt when he shal appeare, we shal be like him: for we shal se him as he is.

3. അവനില് ഈ പ്രത്യാശയുള്ളവന് എല്ലാം അവന് നിര്മ്മലനായിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ തന്നെത്തന്നേ നിര്മ്മലീകരിക്കുന്നു.

3. And euery man yt hath this hope in him, pourgeth him selfe, euen as he is pure.

4. പാപം ചെയ്യുന്നവന് എല്ലാം അധര്മ്മവും ചെയ്യുന്നു; പാപം അധര്മ്മം തന്നേ.

4. Who so euer comytteth synne, comytteth vnrighteousnes also, and synne is vnrighteousnes.

5. പാപങ്ങളെ നീക്കുവാന് അവന് പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി എന്നു നിങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നു; അവനില് പാപം ഇല്ല.
യെശയ്യാ 53:9

5. And ye knowe that he appeared to take awaye oure synnes: and in him is no synne.

6. അവനില് വസിക്കുന്നവന് ആരും പാപം ചെയ്യുന്നില്ല. പാപം ചെയ്യുന്നവന് ആരും അവനെ കണ്ടിട്ടില്ല, അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടുമില്ല.

6. Who so euer abydeth in him, synneth not: who soeuer synneth, hath not sene him nether knowne him.

7. കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ, ആരും നിങ്ങളെ തെറ്റിക്കരുതു; അവന് നീതിമാനായിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ നീതി ചെയ്യുന്നവന് നീതിമാന് ആകുന്നു.

7. Babes, let noman disceaue you. He that doeth righteousnes, is righteous, euen as he is righteous.

8. പാപം ചെയ്യുന്നവന് പിശാചിന്റെ മകന് ആകുന്നു. പിശാചു ആദിമുതല് പാപം ചെയ്യുന്നുവല്ലോ. പിശാചിന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തികളെ അഴിപ്പാന് തന്നേ ദൈവപുത്രന് പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി.

8. He that commytteth synne, is of the deuell: for the deuell synneth sence ye begynnynge. For this purpose appeared the sonne of God, to lowse the workes of the deuell.

9. ദൈവത്തില്നിന്നു ജനിച്ചവന് ആരും പാപം ചെയ്യുന്നില്ല; അവന്റെ വിത്തു അവനില് വസിക്കുന്നു; ദൈവത്തില്നിന്നു ജനിച്ചതിനാല് അവന്നു പാപം ചെയ്വാന് കഴികയുമില്ല.

9. Who so euer is borne of God, synneth not: for his sede remayneth in him, & he ca not synne, because he is borne of God.

10. ദൈവത്തിന്റെ മക്കള് ആരെന്നും പിശാചിന്റെ മക്കള് ആരെന്നും ഇതിനാല് തെളിയുന്നു; നീതി പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കാത്തവന് ആരും സഹോദരനെ സ്നേഹിക്കാത്തവനും ദൈവത്തില്നിന്നുള്ളവനല്ല.

10. By this are the children of God knowne & the children of the deuell. Who so euer doeth not righteousnes, is not of God, nether he thath loueth not his brother.

11. നിങ്ങള് ആദിമുതല് കേട്ട ദൂതുനാം അന്യോന്യം സ്നേഹിക്കേണം എന്നല്ലോ ആകുന്നു.

11. For this is the tydinges which ye haue herde from the begynnynge, that ye shulde loue one another,

12. കയീന് ദുഷ്ടനില്നിന്നുള്ളവനായി സഹോദരനെ കൊന്നതുപോലെ അല്ല; അവനെ കൊല്ലുവാന് സംഗതി എന്തു? തന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തി ദോഷവും സഹോദരന്റേതു നീതിയുമുള്ളതാകകൊണ്ടത്രേ.
ഉല്പത്തി 4:8

12. not as Cain, which was of the wicked, and slewe his brother. And wherfore slewe he him? euen because his awne workes were euell, and his brothers righteous.

13. സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ലോകം നിങ്ങളെ പകെക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് ആശ്ചര്യ്യപ്പെടരുതു.

13. Maruayle not (my brethren) though the worlde hate you.

14. നാം മരണം വിട്ടു ജീവനില് കടന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു സഹോദരന്മാരെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നതിനാല് നമുക്കു അറിയാം. സ്നേഹിക്കാത്തവന് മരണത്തില് വസിക്കുന്നു.

14. We knowe yt we are traslated from death vnto life, because we loue the brethren. He that loueth not his brother, abydeth in death.

15. സഹോദരനെ പകെക്കുന്നവന് എല്ലാം കുലപാതകന് ആകുന്നു. യാതൊരു കുലപാതകന്നും നിത്യജീവന് ഉള്ളില് വസിച്ചിരിപ്പില്ല എന്നു നിങ്ങള് അറിയുന്നു.

15. Who soeuer hateth his brother, is a mansleyer. And ye knowe that a mansleyer hath not eternall life abydinge in him.

16. അവന് നമുക്കു വേണ്ടി തന്റെ പ്രാണനെ വെച്ചുകൊടുത്തതിനാല് നാം സ്നേഹം എന്തു എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; നാമും സഹോദരന്മാര്ക്കും വേണ്ടി പ്രാണനെ വെച്ചുകൊടുക്കേണ്ടതാകുന്നു.

16. Hereby haue we perceaued loue, that he gaue his life for vs, and therfore ought we also to geue oure lyues for the brethre.

17. എന്നാല് ഈ ലോകത്തിലെ വസ്തുവകയുള്ളവന് ആരെങ്കിലും തന്റെ സഹോദരന്നു മുട്ടുള്ളതു കണ്ടിട്ടു അവനോടു മനസ്സലിവു കാണിക്കാഞ്ഞാല് ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സ്നേഹം അവനില് എങ്ങനെ വസിക്കും?
ആവർത്തനം 15:7-8

17. But he yt hath this worldes good, & seyth his brother haue nede, and shutteth vp his hert fro him, how dwelleth the loue of God in him?

18. കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളേ, നാം വാക്കിനാലും നാവിനാലും അല്ല, പ്രവൃത്തിയിലും സത്യത്തിലും തന്നേ സ്നേഹിക്കുക.

18. My litle children, let vs not loue with worde nether with tonge, but with ye dede, and with the trueth.

19. നാം സത്യത്തിന്റെ പക്ഷത്തു നിലക്കുന്നവര് എന്നു ഇതിനാല് അറിയും;

19. Hereby knowe we, that we are of the verite, and can quyete oure hertes before him.

20. ഹൃദയം നമ്മെ കുറ്റം വിധിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് ദൈവം നമ്മുടെ ഹൃദയത്തെക്കാള് വലിയവനും എല്ലാം അറിയുന്നവനും എന്നു നമ്മുടെ ഹൃദയത്തെ അവന്റെ സന്നിധിയില് ഉറപ്പിക്കാം.

20. But yf oure hert condemne vs, God is greater the oure hert, and knoweth all thinges.

21. പ്രിയമുള്ളവരേ, ഹൃദയം നമ്മെ കുററം വിധിക്കുന്നില്ലെങ്കില് നമുക്കു ദൈവത്തോടു പ്രാഗത്ഭ്യം ഉണ്ടു.

21. Dearly beloued, yf oure hert condemne vs not, then haue we a fre boldnes to God warde.

22. അവന്റെ കല്പനകളെ നാം പ്രമാണിച്ചു അവന്നു പ്രസാദമുള്ളതു ചെയ്യുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു എന്തു യാചിച്ചാലും അവങ്കല്നിന്നു ലഭിക്കും.

22. And what so euer we axe, we shal receaue it: because we kepe his comaundemetes, and do those thinges, which are pleasaunt in his sighte.

23. അവന്റെ കല്പനയോ, അവന്റെ പുത്രനായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ നാമത്തില് നാം വിശ്വസിക്കയും അവന് നമുക്കു കല്പന തന്നതുപോലെ അന്യോന്യം സ്നേഹിക്കയും വേണം എന്നുള്ളതു തന്നേ.

23. And this is his comaundement, that we beleue on ye name of his sonne Iesus Christ, and loue one another, as he gaue commaundement.

24. അവന്റെ കല്പനകളെ പ്രമാണിക്കുന്നവന് അവനിലും അവന് ഇവനിലും വസിക്കുന്നു. അവന് നമ്മില് വസിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അവന് നമുക്കു തന്ന ആത്മാവിനാല് നാം അറിയുന്നു.

24. And he that kepeth his commaundementes, dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby knowe we that he abydeth in vs, euen by the sprete which he hath geuen vs.
