1. നമ്മില് വസിക്കുന്നതും നമ്മോടുകൂടെ എന്നേക്കും ഇരിക്കുന്നതുമായ സത്യംനിമിത്തം ഞാന് മാത്രമല്ല,

1. The elder to the elect Lady & her chyldren, whom I loue in the trueth: and not I only, but also all that haue knowen ye trueth:

2. സത്യത്തെ അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നവര് എല്ലാവരും സത്യത്തില് സ്നേഹിക്കുന്ന മാന്യനായകിയാര്ക്കും മക്കള്ക്കും മൂപ്പനായ ഞാന് എഴുതുന്നതു

2. For the truthes sake which dwelleth in vs, and shalbe in vs for euer:

3. പിതാവായ ദൈവത്തിങ്കല്നിന്നും പിതാവിന്റെ പുത്രനായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിങ്കല്നിന്നും സ്നേഹത്തിലും സത്യത്തിലും കൃപയും കനിവും സമാധാനവും നമ്മോടു കൂടെ ഇരിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ.

3. Grace be with you, mercie, and peace from God the father, & from the Lorde Iesus Christe the sonne of the father, in trueth and loue.

4. നമുക്കു പിതാവിങ്കല്നിന്നു കല്പന ലഭിച്ചതുപോലെ അവിടത്തെ മക്കളില് ചിലര് സത്യത്തില് നടക്കുന്നതു ഞാന് കണ്ടു അത്യന്തം സന്തോഷിച്ചു.

4. I reioyced greatly, that I founde of thy chyldren walkyng in trueth, as we haue receaued a commaundement of the father.

5. ഇനി നായകിയാരേ, നാം അന്യോന്യം സ്നേഹിക്കേണം എന്നു പുതിയ കല്പനയായിട്ടല്ല, ആദിമുതല് നമുക്കു ഉള്ളതായിട്ടു തന്നേ ഞാന് അവിടത്തേക്കു എഴുതി അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

5. And nowe beseche I thee Lady, not as though I wrote a newe commaundement vnto thee: but that same which we haue had from the begynnyng, that we shoulde loue one another.

6. നാം അവന്റെ കല്പനകളെ അനുസരിച്ചുനടക്കുന്നതു തന്നേ സ്നേഹം ആകുന്നു. നിങ്ങള് ആദിമുതല് കേട്ടതുപോലെ അനുസരിച്ചുനടപ്പാനുള്ള കല്പന ഇതത്രേ.

6. And this is the loue, that we shoulde walke after his comaundement. This commaundement is, that as ye haue hearde from the begynnyng, ye shoulde walke in it.

7. യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിനെ ജഡത്തില് വന്നവന് എന്നു സ്വീകരിക്കാത്ത വഞ്ചകന്മാര് പലരും ലോകത്തിലേക്കു പുറപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ. വഞ്ചകനും എതിര്ക്രിസ്തുവും ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ളവന് ആകുന്നു.

7. For many deceauers are entred into the worlde, which confesse not that Iesus Christe is come in the fleshe. This is a deceauer and an antichriste.

8. ഞങ്ങളുടെ പ്രയത്നഫലം കളയാതെ പൂര്ണ്ണപ്രതിഫലം പ്രാപിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊള്വിന് .

8. Loke on your selues, that we loose not that we haue wrought: but that we may haue a full rewarde.

9. ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ ഉപദേശത്തില് നിലനില്ക്കാതെ അതിര് കടന്നുപോകുന്ന ഒരുത്തന്നും ദൈവം ഇല്ല; ഉപദേശത്തില് നിലനിലക്കുന്നവന്നോ പിതാവും പുത്രനും ഉണ്ടു.

9. Whosoeuer transgresseth, and bideth not in the doctrine of Christe, hath not God: He that endureth in the doctrine of Christe, hath both the father and the sonne.

10. ഒരുത്തന് ഈ ഉപദേശവുംകൊണ്ടു അല്ലാതെ നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് വന്നുവെങ്കില് അവനെ വീട്ടില് കൈക്കൊള്ളരുതു; അവന്നു കുശലം പറകയും അരുതു.

10. If there come any vnto you, and bring not this learnyng, hym receaue not to house: neither byd hym God speede.

11. അവന്നു കുശലം പറയുന്നവന് അവന്റെ ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തികള്ക്കു കൂട്ടാളിയല്ലോ.

11. For he that byddeth hym God speede, is partaker of his euyll deedes.

12. നിങ്ങള്ക്കു എഴുതുവാന് പലതും ഉണ്ടുഎങ്കിലും കടലാസ്സിലും മഷികൊണ്ടും എഴുതുവാന് എനിക്കു മനസ്സില്ല. നിങ്ങളുടെ സന്തോഷം പൂര്ണ്ണമാകേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല് വന്നു മുഖാമുഖമായി സംസാരിപ്പാന് ആശിക്കുന്നു.

12. I had many thynges to write vnto you: neuerthelesse, I woulde not write with paper & inke, but I trust to come vnto you, and speake with you mouth to mouth, that our ioy may be full.

13. അവിടത്തെ മാന്യസഹോദരിയുടെ മക്കള് വന്ദനം ചൊല്ലുന്നു.
