1. അനന്തരം ശിംശോന് തിമ്നയിലേക്കു ചെന്നു തിമ്നയില് ഒരു ഫെലിസ്ത്യകന്യകയെ കണ്ടു.

1. Samson went down to Timnah. There in Timnah a woman caught his eye, a Philistine girl.

2. അവന് വന്നു തന്റെ അപ്പനെയും അമ്മയെയും അറിയിച്ചുഞാന് തിമ്നയില് ഒരു ഫെലിസ്ത്യകന്യകയെ കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; അവളെ എനിക്കു ഭാര്യയായിട്ടു എടുക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

2. He came back and told his father and mother, 'I saw a woman in Timnah, a Philistine girl; get her for me as my wife.'

3. His parents said to him, 'Isn't there a woman among the girls in the neighborhood of our people? Do you have to go get a wife from the uncircumcised Philistines?' But Samson said to his father, 'Get her for me. She's the one I want--she's the right one.'

4. ഇതു യഹോവയാല് ഉണ്ടായതു എന്നു അവന്റെ അപ്പനും അമ്മയും അറിഞ്ഞില്ല; അവന് ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ നേരെ അവസരം അന്വേഷിക്കയായിരുന്നു. ആ കാലത്തു ഫെലിസ്ത്യരായിരുന്നു യിസ്രായേലിനെ വാണിരുന്നതു.

4. (His father and mother had no idea that GOD was behind this, that he was arranging an opportunity against the Philistines. At the time the Philistines lorded it over Israel.)

5. അങ്ങനെ ശിംശോനും അവന്റെ അപ്പനും അമ്മയും തിമ്നയിലേക്കു പോയി തിമ്നെക്കരികെയുള്ള മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടങ്ങളില് എത്തിയപ്പോള് ഒരു ബാലസിംഹം അവന്റെ നേരെ അലറിവന്നു.

5. Samson went down to Timnah with his father and mother. When he got to the vineyards of Timnah, a young lion came at him, roaring.

6. അപ്പോള് യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവു അവന്റെമേല് വന്നു; കയ്യില് ഒന്നും ഇല്ലാതിരിക്കെ അവന് അതിനെ ഒരു ആട്ടിന് കുട്ടിയെപ്പോലെ കീറിക്കളഞ്ഞു; താന് ചെയ്തതു അപ്പനോടും അമ്മയോടും പറഞ്ഞില്ല.

6. The Spirit of GOD came on him powerfully and he ripped it open barehanded, like tearing a young goat. But he didn't tell his parents what he had done.

7. Then he went on down and spoke to the woman. In Samson's eyes, she was the one.

8. കുറെക്കാലം കഴിഞ്ഞശേഹം അവന് അവളെ വിവാഹം കഴിപ്പാന് തിരികെ പോകയില് സിംഹത്തിന്റെ ഉടല് നോക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു മാറിച്ചെന്നു; സിംഹത്തിന്റെ ഉടലിന്നകത്തു ഒരു തേനീച്ചക്കൂട്ടവും തേനും കണ്ടു.

8. Some days later when he came back to get her, he made a little detour to look at what was left of the lion. And there a wonder: a swarm of bees in the lion's carcass--and honey!

9. അതു അവന് കയ്യില് എടുത്തു തിന്നുംകൊണ്ടു നടന്നു, അപ്പന്റെയും അമ്മയുടെയും അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു അവര്ക്കും കൊടുത്തു അവരും തിന്നു; എന്നാല് തേന് ഒരു സിംഹത്തിന്റെ ഉടലില്നിന്നു എടുത്തു എന്നു അവന് അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞില്ല.

9. He scooped it up in his hands and kept going, eating as he went. He rejoined his father and mother and gave some to them and they ate. But he didn't tell them that he had scooped out the honey from the lion's carcass.

10. അങ്ങനെ അവന്റെ അപ്പന് ആ സ്ത്രീയുടെ വീട്ടില് ചെന്നു; ശിംശോന് അവിടെ ഒരു വിരുന്നുകഴിച്ചു; യൌവനക്കാര് അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്ക പതിവായിരുന്നു.

10. His father went on down to make arrangements with the woman, while Samson prepared a feast there. That's what the young men did in those days.

11. അവര് അവനെ കണ്ടപ്പോള് അവനോടുകൂടെ ഇരിപ്പാന് മുപ്പതു തോഴന്മാരെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

11. Because the people were wary of him, they arranged for thirty friends to mingle with him.

12. ശിംശോന് അവരോടുഞാന് നിങ്ങളോടു ഒരു കടം പറയാം; വിരുന്നിന്റെ ഏഴു ദിവസത്തിന്നകം നിങ്ങള് അതു വീട്ടിയാല് ഞാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു മുപ്പതു ഉള്ളങ്കിയും മുപ്പതു വിശേഷവസ്ത്രവും തരാം.

12. Samson said to them: 'Let me put a riddle to you. If you can figure it out during the seven days of the feast, I'll give you thirty linen garments and thirty changes of fine clothing.

13. വീട്ടുവാന് നിങ്ങള്ക്കു കഴിഞ്ഞില്ലെങ്കിലോ നിങ്ങള് എനിക്കു മുപ്പതു ഉള്ളങ്കിയും മുപ്പതു വിശേഷവസ്ത്രവും തരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവര് അവനോടുനിന്റെ കടം പറക; ഞങ്ങള് കേള്ക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

13. But if you can't figure it out then you'll give me thirty linen garments and thirty changes of fine clothing.' They said, 'Put your riddle. Let's hear it.'

14. അവന് അവരോടു ഭോക്താവില്നിന്നു ഭോജനവും മല്ലനില്നിന്നു മധുരവും പുറപ്പെട്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എന്നാല് കടം വീട്ടുവാന് മൂന്നു ദിവസത്തോളം അവര്ക്കും കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.

14. So he said, From the eater came something to eat, From the strong came something sweet. They couldn't figure it out. After three days they were still stumped.

15. On the fourth day they said to Samson's bride, 'Worm the answer out of your husband or we'll burn you and your father's household. Have you invited us here to bankrupt us?'

16. So Samson's bride turned on the tears, saying to him, 'You hate me. You don't love me. You've told a riddle to my people but you won't even tell me the answer.' He said, 'I haven't told my own parents--why would I tell you?'

17. വിരുന്നിന്റെ ഏഴു ദിവസവും അവള് അവന്റെ മുമ്പില് കരഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു; ഏഴാം ദിവസം അവള് അവനെ അസഹ്യപ്പെടുത്തുകകൊണ്ടു അവന് പറഞ്ഞുകൊടുത്തു; അവള് തന്റെ അസ്മാദികള്ക്കും കടം പറഞ്ഞുകൊടുത്തു.

17. But she turned on the tears all the seven days of the feast. On the seventh day, worn out by her nagging, he told her. Then she went and told it to her people.

18. ഏഴാം ദിവസം സൂര്യന് അസ്തമിക്കുംമുമ്പെ പട്ടണക്കാര് അവനോടുതേനിനെക്കാള് മധുരമുള്ളതു എന്തു? സിംഹത്തെക്കാള് ബലമുള്ളതു എന്തു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു അവന് അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് എന്റെ പശുക്കിടാവിനെ പൂട്ടി ഉഴുതില്ലെങ്കില് എന്റെ കടം വീട്ടുകയില്ലായിരുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

18. The men of the town came to him on the seventh day, just before sunset and said, What is sweeter than honey? What is stronger than a lion? And Samson said, If you hadn't plowed with my heifer, You wouldn't have found out my riddle.

19. പിന്നെ, യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവു അവന്റെ മേല് വന്നു; അവന് അസ്കലോനിലേക്കു ചെന്നു മുപ്പതുപേരെ കൊന്നു അവരുടെ ഉടുപ്പൂരി കടംവീട്ടിയവര്ക്കും വസ്ത്രംകൊടുത്തു അവന്റെ കോപം ജ്വലിച്ചു; അവന് തന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ വീട്ടില് പോയി.

19. Then the Spirit of GOD came powerfully on him. He went down to Ashkelon and killed thirty of their men, stripped them, and gave their clothing to those who had solved the riddle. Stalking out, smoking with anger, he went home to his father's house.

20. ശിംശോന്റെ ഭാര്യ അവന്റെ കൂട്ടുകാരനായിരുന്ന തോഴന്നു ഭാര്യയായിയ്തീര്ന്നു.

20. Samson's bride became the wife of the best man at his wedding.
